Monologuing villains
Monologuing villains who are too stupid to live. In the exact same scene in Robocop (1987) Dick Jones states that anything said to Robo can be used in a court of law and then, less than 2 minutes later, confesses to murder. This would be useful since in the real world CEOs of major companies are almost untouchable and rarely get riddled with bullets as they fall to their death from skyscrapers. It would save a lot on police work.

OTHER MOVIE MISCONCEPTION
1. The American father who has no time for his kids. At some point in the movie, he will promise to make it to his son or daughter’s play/dance recital but will end up missing it.
2 When a families teenage daughter is always portrayed as a seclusive rebel who is angry at her parents and dating some sleazeball the parent’s can’t stand.
3. I really can’t stand ‘Girl Power Moments’ The scenes always play out like this :
A group of male special forces soldiers are informed that someone from Intel will be joining them on the misson. Said person is of course a female. The men immediately catcall, makes sexual advances towards her or say something along the lines of ‘But she’s a girl, she can’t come on this mission’ Then the female suddenly shows her amazing skill by grabbing on the the guys who just put his hand on her shoulder, throwing him to the ground and puts a knife at his throat - stunning everyone in the team. Oh, and of course the female will be dressed in the sexiest outfit possible rather than attire suited for the mission environment. 4. I hate how the school bullies are always members of the School’s sports team (Usually football) Basically anyone in High School wearing a sports Jersey will be a complete jerk.
5. Speaking of Bullies, In the movie universe, only boys get into physical fights. Girls only bully verbally. Even when a female victim is surrounded by a small gang of bullies, the most that will happen to her is being shoved out of the way after rude comments about her looks are made.
6. When some crazy lady is trying to make moves on a guy and the guy is doing everything in his power to get her off of him… The guy’s girlfriend or wife will walk in at that very moment, think he is cheating on her and storm out.
7. In horror movies - When a guy walks up silently behind a girl and placing a hand on their shoulder, startling them, then saying, “Why are you so jumpy?” In reality, he’d have just walked in and called her name.
8.Ever notice how taking out an organization of bad guys is like a video game? The enemies the hero has to deal with get harder throughout the movie and the leader is like the final boss. He is always the toughest to kill with a wide range of combat and martial arts skills - rather than just being an average Joe.

There’s always the 21st-century feminist character inserted into historical fiction, who’s clearly not been socialized in the time she’s supposed to live.
The typical: ‘Oh Elisabeth Alexandra Victoria dear, why must we wear these ghastly, oppressive, things?’
In 19th-century literature, a slight form of this character often exists—like Jane Eyre, Anna Karenina, Helen Graham, Elizabeth Bennet or Jo March. But we watched these women navigate their progressive ideas using the language and ideals of her time, and it was so much more fascinating.
Many women challenged Victorian ideals, but 19th century feminism simply isn’t 21st century feminism.
For women of the time, their reality was normal. A woman might find corsets uncomfortable, but she’s more likely to think, “I want a more comfortable corset” than “corsets are a tool of the patriarchy and all women should be free of them”.
I don’t see the point of sanitising or erasing history. Why can’t we view how society progressed, and how progression itself progressed? That’s the beauty of society: it evolves.
If you’re going to attempt to create authentic Victorian or Medieval characters—write them accurately. I’m tired of watching period dramas centred around a 2010s-esque, third-wave feminist worldview. These movies are modern women in crinolines, rather than genuine period dramas.
These horribly frustrating characters only really exist to assure modern audiences that there’s a voice of reason

FatherOfJesus: nope, that's not what I meant. I'm not sure you understood my statement but I'm going to give you an example. Science is really hard, that's why a layman doesn't understand it but I'm going to be patient with you.
For example, we have atomic theory, atomic theory is a theory trying to explain the nature of atoms. The first atomic theory I can remember was proposed by jj thompson, this theory accurately predicted that an atom consists of positive and negative charged particles, we tested it and it was correct but he couldn't figure how these particles are arranged with the atom. Dalton discovered that atoms formed coumounds, so we need to modify this theory, because we have new evidence. Rutherford then experimented the arrangement of atoms like planetary system, we need to update, then Chadwick discovered neutron, we needed to update. Bohr again discovered energy levels and orbits of atoms, we needed to update againtofsy we are observing new things about atoms in quantum physics, we will have to update further. You will notice that while updating, there was never a time someone said atoms done exist, only thr explanations kept getting updated as new evidence comes. This is the same thing with evolution, there's never going to be a time the scientific community will say that evolution doesn't exist and then replace it with creation, we can only update the theories when new evidence comes. We have updated the theories many times anyways, from lamarckian theory of evolution, to Darwin's theory of evolution and then we discovered DNA and inheritance pattern, we needed to include to what we called neodarwinian theory of evolution today. It has never told us that evolution didn't happen
That's the beauty of science, we don't stop learning and improving and this has worked so far. This is why we were able to invent many stuffs. you're a genius too? |

FatherOfJesus: dude I have a degree in biochemistry, postgraduate degrees in clinical chemistry, epidemiology and a post graduate certificate in evolutionary biology. I'm an authority in this topic, I'm not doing this to bra though.
It's not controversial, it's fact. I observe it everyday. Yes, we have a common descent. We have more evidence for this than gravity, atoms and blackholes comoind. We can easily see it in your DNA, it's like it cannot even be hidden
illiterate, I'm going have to educate you here. There's nothing like "evolution is just a theory" that's what scientifically illiterate people say. We have evolution and we have the theory of evolution, read that carefully because you need basic education. They are different things.
A theory in science is the best explanation for a natural phenomenon. The theory of evolution tries to explain evolution, just like atomic theory explains atoms, cell theory explains cells and theory of gravity explains gravity. The theory can be modified but the natural phenomenon (evolution, atoms, gravity, cells are constant), we can only modify how we explain them as we get better knowledge about them. So illiterate, evolution is is fact, theory of evolution explains this fact. BTW, because something is a law in science does not mean it's infallible. Only illiterates like yours think that theories can become a law, that's not how it works. I will give you an example, Albert Einsteins theory of gravity superceded Newton's law of gravity, a theory superceded a law, . So whether theory of evolution is a theory or a law, it doesn't matter. If it's wrong then it's wrong
I think my last statement already cured this blissful Ignorance. Go get a refund from your elementary school or maybe you didn't pay attention in class. I literilly worship at your Feet |

FatherOfJesus: Because there's a gap doesn't mean that evolution didn't happen. And again, because most of you are church guys and are here to stiffly defend your beliefs in your creation myths, you probably do not do your reseech properly before making any comment.
There are no gaps or whatsoever when you study the geological aspect of evolution, the fossil records and radiometric dating explains all the gaps. The gaps you talk about can be seen in the gradual skull:body ratio in fossils of other extinct apes. We have evidence that the brain/skill/body ratio consistently increased over years from the austrolopithecus species until date when you follow the evolutionary branch of homoninis. The amazing thing about this fossils of results we got is that, they are consistent with radiometric dating and the geological timeline. We were able to extrapolate that the size of our neocortex in relation to other apes made the difference. BTW, neocortex is repsonsible for higher cognitive activity which brought about consciousness in humans. We have extanct species of hominids that are way more conscisous than chimpanzees and gorilla, we could figure this from their brain/body ratio. The most recent are the neantherdals, they were much more conscious than chimpanzees and less conscious than humans, early homo sapiens actually saw them. So that's the gap dude, they are in the fossil records.
Lastly, humans are apes, your statement is a goof in biology. You cannot campare humans to apes when humans themselves are apes well said , since I noticed the average Nigerian has an IQ of 70 , I decided not to bother to explain to them , they are biologically unable to understand...... Save God's magick though. |
Education › Re: How Humans Evolved After The Asteroid Hit . by TheSourcerer(op): 12:53am On Apr 09, 2022 |
FatherOfJesus: this comment is wrong in biology because humans are animals by all standards, even to cellular level. A simple observation of human cell under a microscope bears all the hallmark of an ideal animal cell. Get this basic education It's not stupid, you re just scientifically illiterate
It's not a calculation, like I said earlier, you re scientifically illiterate and not willing to be educated, evolution is an observed fact and we observe it every minute in science, you don't need maths or calculations to do so.
They are not assumptions, they are facts but you need atleast a degree in science from a reputable university and not mushroom Nigerian universities and then go further to study a postgraduate in the field of biology to be master and properly ubderstand how it works. The fact that a layman like you don't understand it is why it's called science and why people have to get doctorate degree in this specialty.
By the way, it doesn't mean that you cant have peripheral knowledge like I do and then learn how to observe the evidence with a scientific mind and not like a church rat mind who always see everything from a belief point of view I couldn't have said it better |

MrJaay: Despite being fictions, it interestingly isn't as easy for many (including Americans) to decipher some of the exaggerations in many western movies. This has been proven overtime by numerous scholars of media cultivation.
Ever since George Gerbner introduced the cultivation theory in the 1960’s as part of the Cultural Indicators Project to examine the influence of television on viewers, the theory has continuously proved effective in explaining how long-term or consistent exposure to media shapes the way consumers of media perceive the world and conduct themselves.
The cultivation hypothesis specifically states that: "the more television people watch, the more likely they are to hold a view of reality that is closer to television's depiction of reality"
Heavy television viewers who were respondents in a cultivation analysis survey research in America were shocked to learn to learn that policemen in US were less than 1 percent of the total population, given their prevalence in films.
To many individuals, these distorted and partial reality portrayed on television represents what the world is 'really' like.
Gerbner also coined the term mean world syndrome to describe the cognitive bias whereby television viewers exposed to violent content were more likely to see the world as more dangerous than it actually is. Good examples of these are our mental pictures of how life in dictatorship countries are.
In more recent times, researchers have delved into other forms of media such as reality TV and video games, to study the effects of the misconceptions therein on consumers.. you night want to explore that in your topic too... I knew this but not elaborately, Thank you , I appreciate you |
