Socrates' relentless and, to some people, infuriating questioning of his fellow citizens eventually led to his death. Shortly after the scene described in Euthyphro, Meletus and others indicted Socrates and brought him to trial. In his brilliant work The Apology, Plato summarized the speech Socrates delivered in his defense. The speech is especially fascinating because it provides a summary of Socrates' life and of his devotion to philosophical questioning. Socrates is standing in court, facing the jury composed of five hundred Athenian citizens who have just heard the testimony of his accusers, who charge him with corrupting the youth of Athens and with not believing in the gods of the state: we teach atheism, and that we make the worst views appear to be the best. For people do not like to admit that their pretensions to knowledge have been exposed. And that, fellow Athenians, is the origin of the prejudices against me. But some of you will ask, "Don't you regret what you did since now it might mean your death?" To these I answer, "You are mistaken. A good man should not calculate his chances of living or dying. He should only ask himself whether he is doing right or wrong—whether his inner self is that of a good man or of an evil one." And if you say to me, "Socrates, we will let you go free but only on condition that you stop your questioning," then I will reply, "Men of Athens, I honor and love you. But I must obey god rather than you, and while I have life and strength I will never stop doing philosophy." For my aim is to persuade you all, young and old alike, not to think about your lives or your properties, but first and foremost to care about your inner self. I tell you that wealth does not make you good within, but that from inner goodness comes wealth and every other benefit to man. This is my teaching, and if it corrupts youth, then I suppose I am their corrupter. Well, my fellow Athenians, you must now decide whether to acquit me or not. But whichever you do, understand that I will never change my ways, not even if I have to die many rimes. To talk daily about what makes us good, and to question myself and others, is the greatest thing man can do. For the unexamined life is not worth living. [At this point Socrates rested his case. The jury debated among themselves and then, in a split vote, they reached their final verdict.] Men of Athens, you have condemned me to death. To those of you who are my friends and who voted to acquit me let me say that death may be a good thing. Either it is a state of nothingness and utter unconsciousness, or, as some people say, it is merely a migration from this world to another. If it is complete unconsciousness— like a sleep undisturbed even by dreams—then death will be an unspeakable gain. And if it is a journey to anodier world where all the dead live, then it will also be a great good. For then I can continue my search into true and false knowledge: In the next world, as in this one, I can continue questioning the great people of the past to find out who is wise and who merely pretends to be. So do not be saddened by death. No evil can happen to a good man either in this life or in death. Well, the hour of departure has arrived, and we must each go our ways. I to die, and you to live. Which is better only god knows. THE TRANSLATED DEFENCE SPEECH OF SOCRATES

The Papin Sisters French sisters Léa and Christine Papin worked as live-in servants for the Lancelin family in France in 1926. Although it was reported that they acted quite odd, never talking to anyone but themselves and showing little interest in anything besides each other, according to Historic Mysteries. They did their work quickly and lived with the family for almost seven years. Then, one night in February 1933, Mr. Lancelin, who had been waiting for his wife at a friend's house, came home to find her and their adult daughter dead on the floor in a pool of blood. Their eyes had been gouged out and faces smashed in. The Papin sisters were locked in their room and after getting a locksmith to open the door, the police said they found the sisters lying on the bed together with a bloody hammer nearby, according to The Vintage News. The Papin sisters immediately confessed to the crimes. While in prison, Christine became very distressed from being away from her sister and was eventually granted permission to see Léa. Reports said that the sisters seemed to be unnaturally close to each other, with some suggesting a sexual relationship, though doctors who examined the Papin sisters denied evidence of that. A few months later, Christine suffered a mental breakdown and tried to gouge out her own eyes(yes she was insightful ) Well After their trial, Christine was sentenced to life in prison for being the mastermind behind the murders, while Léa was eventually released from prison in 1943 and managed to get a job at a French hotel under a new identity. It is believed that she died in 1982, but that has never been confirmed.

1Sharon:Sadly yes , he did say he did not kill them out of prejudice but they were the most handsome men he could find , But I doubt this .... He was well amongst the poor black people knowing fully well , an innocent "generic" white man would definately not commit crimes such as murder in a black community then in a white only community , he would have been fished out within the first 3 weeks of his killings , since he had already been stopped in the past by white cops , one child a Vietnamese was even returned to Dahmer after been physically hurt ,even bleeding from his rectum , The concernerd neigbours (blacks) persistently called and told them not to return the kid to Dahmer but yeah he was returned and killed , if it were in a white neighborhood......... |

Florida's Messiest Execution On July 8, 1999, the execution of Allen Lee Davis set off a shock wave that rippled around the world. During his time in the electric chair, Davis bled profusely from the nose and suffered burns to his head, leg, and groin area. As the switch was thrown, the “Tiny” Davis, who was executed for the May 11, 1982, murder of Nancy Weiler and her two daughters, reared back against the restraints, giving witnesses a chilling glimpse under a black hood designed to hide the faces of the condemned. Blood poured from his vivid purple nose, ran down the wide leather strap that covered his mouth and soaked the white shirt. After the power was turned off, Davis was still alive. Witnesses said his chest rose and fell about 10 times before he went still. After the execution, state prison officials and Governor Jeb Bush said the Old Sparky functioned properly. Three photos of the incident have been published on Florida’s High Court official website in an attempt to argue that the practice of capital punishment via electrocution was outdated. The report said that any future executions should be carried out through lethal injection since the Davis execution was not the first to raise questions in Florida about the humaneness of electrocution. In 1990 and 1997, Jesse Tafero and Pedro Medina caught fire in the chair as they were being put to death. Finally, after the Davis execution, lethal injection was enabled and became the default method. Inmates, however, may still choose electrocution.

Dubbed as “the Internet’s first serial killer” John Edward Robinson, a psychopathic sexual sadist killed eight young women whom he met on the Internet to fulfill his lust as a self-proclaimed “slave master.” On June 2, 2000, Robinson was arrested at his Kansas farm, after a woman filed a sexual battery complaint against him and another charged him with stealing her intimacy gadgets. On June 3, detectives went to John Edward Robinson’s 17-acre farm with three search-and-rescue dog teams. The dog teams then systematically searched the grounds and led investigators to some barrels near a shed. When the two barrels were opened, detectives discovered two decomposing bodies.

2.The Spine-Chilling Tour Revisiting the Michael Ross Murders Known as the Roadside Strangler, Michael Ross is a good example of the classic organized offender. Between 1981 and 1984, Ross murdered eight girls and women aged between 14 and 25 in Connecticut and New York, raping seven out of his eight murder victims. At the time of his arrest, the Roadside Strangler was working as an insurance salesman and traveled his route in a blue Toyota. He was extremely effective in avoiding apprehension and the authorities didn’t even realize a serial killer was responsible for the deaths. In fact, there was hardly any physical evidence in these cases except for the recovered bodies. Ross confessed to each of the eight murders and was convicted for the last four of them. He was sentenced to death on July 6, 1987 and spent the next 18 years on death row. In 2005, Ross was executed by the state of Connecticut, making it the first execution in Connecticut (and the whole of New England) since 1960, and the last execution in Connecticut before the state repealed capital punishment in 2012.

Good morning Gore historical lovers , Front sitters Dominique DriggityDre traware Doggedfighter Silentgroper Franasoan 1.Meet the Lady of Silence, One of World’s Most Bizarre Serial Killers In 2008, a former female wrestler and one of Mexico’s most prolific serial killers was sentenced to 759 years in jail for the killings of at least 11 elderly women. Juana Barraza, nicknamed the „Little Old Lady Killer“ or „Mataviejitas,“ mostly targeted women aged 60 or over, most of whom lived alone. She bludgeoned or strangled her victims, and afterward would rob them. Barraza gained trust of his victims and access to their homes by helping with their shopping bags or requesting cleaning work, or simply pretended to be a nurse or social worker. The unusual thing about this killer is her choice of a weapon. Barraza strangled half of her victims with a stethoscope, which she carried to the crime scene. In at least one case, the killer picked up a stethoscope that happened to be lying on the living room table and used it to strangle her victim.
