We know it predates Obi. The bone of contention here is that: Obi said he cleared all debts, meaning that he cleared those debts the state was owing before he (became governor) during his tenure. He meant he didn’t single out debts owed by his predecessors.

Obi became governor of Anambra State and it means he was taken over both the liabilities and otherwise of Anambra State and it was his job to offset those liabilities.
If you are not aware, this same issue occurred during the time of Oshiomhole as Edo State governor. He took over unpaid salaries and arrears of serving and retired workers of Edo Line, Edo State water board, Edo Brewery, Ewu flour mills, etc. he ended up paying the workers their salaries and pensions even though he inherited such liabilities.

so you know,and you didn’t glorify him when he cleared arrears of his predecessors.

The point is he was never responsible for the debt from the beginning since government is continuous!

official state debts or government financial obligations are managed as public records and does not require any public declaration,they can be accessed upon request because they are public information!
