TRV UPDATE 28/04/2019

Hi Nairaland fam,
Happy Sunday!!!

Over the week, we had only one approval that was shared... Apart from that, things haven’t changed much. I still want to encourage those that have not shared their timeline to please do as this exercise would help us establish a timeline around how CIC operates. For those that have submitted their timeline but haven't shared all the information we need, please help us in sharing the outstanding information. In particular, we still need information on school resumption date and application type (new or re) from the following people; Godatwork23, Oni2019, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Klem28, Udomas, Ancy 26, Omarzx, and Iykedpetes, while we need information on the date that Valprincx upfront medical status was updated to passed. Also, if anyone has received an update (i.e. medical requests, eligibility, etc), please share because as it stands now, almost all of us are still on background check.

By the look of things, it seems as though CIC is giving priority to those with closer resumption dates. Roughly 90% of the people resuming in May have all gotten feedback on their application – even though some of them applied after some applicants resuming in Aug-19 and Sep-19 applied.

In addition, Processing time on CIC website has fallen to 9 weeks from 10 weeks in the preceding week and from about >20 weeks last year. The trend going forward is left to see but we can only hope that it continues to trend downwards. I reckon this isn't a peak period.

Finally, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better.

It shall end in praise!
New application
Application date: April 24
Biometrics: April 30
Resumption: September 2019

It's for Visa fees and the GTBank card worked like a charm as you rightly said.

Thanks.
JustMellow:
If its for application fees or Visa fees payment, a naira debit card will do the trick, GTB and FB works fine.
Other banks does but those two are my preferences.

If its for tuition fees: flywire, western union or form A is best suitable
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Theyolu: 3:00pm On Apr 24, 2019
Good afternoon.

I am trying to pay for the application and biometrics fee online but my transaction was declined twice; I used a dollar debit card. I will like to know what type of card people use to pay for the fees online.

Thanks
TravelRe: QATAR AND UAE GENERAL VISA ENQUIRIES Part 3 by Theyolu: 9:43am On Mar 27, 2019
Good morning everyone.

I have a relative who is currently in Dubai. He has a 2-month employment visa. He was also given a work permit. All these were gotten via an agent who was paid 700k.

I started reading this thread a few weeks ago after I learnt that my relative will be migrating to the UAE. With the info I got on this thread, I helped to verify the visa and it expires May 5. However, when I verified the work permit, I found out that it's owned by someone else. They edited the photo and name.

Now, since he got there, he's not started working. His int'l passport was collected (by the agent, I believe). They're saying he'll start work soon but no job is forthcoming and he's running out of money.

Based on what I've read so far on the thread, I advised him to ditch the agent and go in search of other jobs, attend walk-in interviews as it's usually advised on the thread for job seekers. However, he was told that's not possible. According to the labour laws, he has to work with the company that got him the work permit for six months before he can move on to another job.

Is this true? What do you advise that he should do?

Thanks for your time.

Don't mind me. My parents were supposed to help us to return it but they just kept postponing it. I just found that out this weekend after two years. I'd do the needful soon.

Thank you.
XX01:
You need to go to a registry and drop the 2nd copy so that if any Body does a registry search, it will show that it is registered. This is important before someone brands your certificate as a fake one.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by Theyolu: 5:20pm On Nov 26, 2017
It depends on the Anglican Church. I got married in one but like a small parish under a bigger diocese (I didn't grow up Anglican so pardon me if I'm not using the right expressions). We went to the registry. However, on the church wedding day we were asked to submit the registry certificate and the church gave us two new certificates - one for us & one for the registry. I still have both with me, though.
It just occurred to me now that, probably, the church got licensed for our sake since the name of the parish is on the certificate & not the name of the mother church, which is licensed.

The best option for anyone is to ask the Vicar or Rev if they are licensed before making a decision. And they can even become licensed for your own sake. Going to the registry can be stressful, you know.
Newmum0615:
Anglican churches too.

Have you gotten a confirmation now? I got mine around 8pm yesterday.
Petrelli112:
No, I am not in Lagos, I have sent an email to that address, got the automated response too, let's wait until tomorrow and see.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by Theyolu: 9:19am On Nov 16, 2017
I called yesterday morning. It rang once and then switched off. I have gotten confirmation now, though.

Kano is your best bet as the guy in charge there is up and doing. he will fix the issue for you. check their website for the mobile line. i understand lagos landline is still not working.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by Theyolu: 9:16am On Nov 16, 2017
I finally got the confirmation few minutes to 8, last night. That is like 4hours from when I got the automated email. Thank you for the encouragement. It is still weird that I had sent an email to that same address last Thursday after payment but didn't get that automated response. Anyway, thanks once again
Kontagious:
I believe you will get the confirmation in no distant time, that's the same way the referenced friend confirmed getting the auto response saying they'd treat. Though he got the auto response much earlier in the day and confirmatory mail same day, maybe an hour in between. Considering time like you mentioned, let's see how yours plays out.

In all, you should be fine.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by Theyolu: 4:28pm On Nov 15, 2017
Don't cancel yet. You may consider resending an email to examsnigeria@ng.britishcouncil.org if you haven't done so. Are you in Lagos? How about visiting their office on behalf of 'the two both of us' tomorrow?

Petrelli112:
Same here, paid on Thursday too, just got the reminder email, I want call my bank now to cancel the transaction, if possible.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by Theyolu: 3:49pm On Nov 15, 2017
Thanks Kontagious. I bookmarked that post since. It's so weird. I had sent to the first email address the same date I paid with no response. I just resent now and I got an automated response. Since this is almost 4pm, I am hoping to get confirmation by tomorrow. Fingers crossed

Kontagious:
Consider this post https://www.nairaland.com/3999848/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/403#62129524
A friend who got that 24hours reminder also confirmed the first email worked, got confirmation within minutes. You might want to try if you've not sent to these addresses.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by Theyolu: 2:02pm On Nov 15, 2017
I have called all the British Council offices - Lagos, Port-Harcourt, Kano and Abuja. No luck. Kano rang once then switched off. I received a reminder email to pay up within 24 hours this morning. It will be one week tomorrow I made the payment. It is so annoying!

Transfer takes time... i paid for my ielts through bank transfer 2 days to cancellation... sent proof and emails to them no reply.. two days after payment, my exam booking still expired despite having made payment. I even wanted to rebook the date and pay again but The date was no longer available... i was furious I went to the bank and activated a refund. The bank said i should give them 1 week to get my money back.. i called the day after they said they were on it. To cut the long story short.. two days after i cancelled payment i got payment confirmation from ielts...nd it was for the date i had initially booked...
So if u r sure u did all the right way.. just visit the bak to knw whats delaying and keep sending ielts messages... but give or take give ur transfer 4 days from my experience.
Or better still call any ielts branch except Lagos cos they dont pick.

Good evening Everyone.

I paid for IELTS via bank transfer last week Thursday. It's over 72hours and I am yet to get payment confirmation. I mailed them immediately the transfer was made as instructed. I also sent a follow up email this afternoon but I am yet to get a response. Visiting their office in Ikoyi is not an option as I'm writing the exam in Ibadan and not Lagos. Please, is there another way of contacting them? Thank you.
