Tribalism must cancel out tribalism.
Since Yorubas and the rest have embraced Igbophobia as a means to political advancement.
Ndiigbo will do same to cancel out their evil plans for us.
Hate must be met with hate.
In international arena this is called MAD( mutually assured destruction).
Ndiigbo will never lay down our heads again to be used to break the Nigerian coconut.
Let everyone die from poverty, let the elites impoverish everyone, let's all embrace tribalism together.
This is the way the rest of Nigeria want it.
Return back to ur region or ur tribalism will be Ibo end in Nigeria

He died because the July coup plotters considered him one of the senior officers that helped the January 1966 coupists with combat training.

I suspect he was Awolowo's man.

The two most senior military officers involved in the January coup were Yorubas. Fajuyi and Banjo. The others were junior to them, but they cleverly stayed out of playing active part, thereby roping in unsuspecting Nzeogwu and co, into making it seem like an Igbo coup, when in actual fact, it was Awolowo's coup, who used it to eliminate all his political opponents.

Pazienza
U ibo people are criminal minded and liers.

Same awolowo was release by Gowon , driven to his home ikenne by miritala Muhammed and finally made deputy to Gowon.

So awolowo will plan a coup and Gowon will not deem it fit to try him.

If not why did obi not present the manual sheet at the tribunal.

I am not disputing your comment.

I also made it clear that the Igbo soldiers allowed tribal sentiments to derail their original plan of a national revolution, check my first comment.

Nzeogwu never said Ironsi was part of the coup, Ironsi was never part of the coup, he only took advantage of the coup along the line. He foiled the coup and grabbed power thereoff.

Of course Nzeogwu was not happy with Ironsi for being the beneficiary of his brainchild, so he is expected to say things to hurt Ironsi.

But why do you Yorubas refuse to accept what Major Ademulegun who happened to be one of the original coup planners said about the coup? WHY ARE YORUBAS ALWAYS SELECTIVE IN THEIR THINKING OR HISTORY?

Ademulegun published a book before he died titled "Why We Struck" but Yorubas hate that book because the man said a lot of truths that didn't align with what Yorubas want to believe.

It's well
Will you have agreed and believe if the reverse was the case.

Ademoyega book was not the only source which gave account of the event there are many others which gave vividly and detailed analysis which ademoyega ommited in his book

Same ademoyega allegedly punched ifeajuna upon their arrest. His vengeful action towards ifeajuna shows there was another coup inside the initial one they planned.

That coup was an unessesary action and event. it created bad blood and mistrust among the major tribes.

Nigerians should let bygone be history,Enough of these divisive tales.

Old wounds should not fester. Let allowed it to heal once and for all.

Doing so we can forge ahead as A country.

Have a nice day.

You don't carry out coup to immediately install a civilian as President, it will become suspicious.

The military will first stabilize the nation after the coup and then organize an election to hand over power to civilian government. And they planned to make sure Awolowo emerged as the civilian President.

You don't understand how these things work.

Awolowo was a very visionary leader though he was too ambitious but he saw through the northern Moslem agenda and wanted to align more with Igbos to stop Northern Jihad.

Awolowo never wanted the almagamation of North and South to even continue, left to him, he would have dissolved it, but Nnamdi Azikiwe wanted to be seen as a Pan African leader which made him aligned with the North more.

It was Ladoke Samuel Akintola that wanted Yorubas to align more with North to push Igbos out of national dominance then but Awolowo never wanted that but wanted Igbos and Yorubas to work more closely and this endeared Igbo military officers to Awolowo. It made them cherish Awolowo more than Nnamdi Azikiwe and reason they wanted to stop the operation Wetie and save Awolowo their preferred leader then.

Many things made Awolowo to feel frustrated about life that pushed him to take his own life; one he wanted to be President at all cost and got frustrated even after he frustratingly worked with the North via Gowon government after the coup and brought the idea that led to the death of thousands of Igbo children and old people during the civil war, which his confidant said he regretted till his death especially after the North still worked vehemently against him becoming President after all he did for them even against his conscience because he preferred Igbos from the beginning.

You really need to read wider with open mind to understand what really transpired in the early Nigerian political history
The source I posted was the interview between Dennis ejindu and nzeogwu a year after the coup and some months before the start of the civil war.

Nzeogwu himself admitted that the soilders in the west and the east gave the coup an ethnic colorations.

Never for ones did he admitted the coup was intended for awo accedancy.

He made mention of Ironsi as been partly of the plot but felt betrayed by his action in governance and bigotry in his appointment afterwards.
Politics › Re: David Hundeyin: IBB Confirm In His Book That 1966 Was An Ethnic Igbo Coup by Thiefobi1: 5:35am On Feb 24, 2025

Now the truth is coming out.

Awolowo stepped down from being Western Premier to contest federal election to become President and Akintola took over as Western Premier, Awolowo lost the election to Nnamdi Azikiwe and went back to tell Akintola to vacate the Western Premier seat for him, Akintola refused and the western political war began.

Akintola was closer to Sir Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Belewa so they used federal political might to jail Awolowo for treason and was planning an operation wetie using Nigerian army to be led by mostly Igbos and Northern soldiers who dominated the army then. Unfortunately the Igbo soldiers liked Awolowo and briefed Awolowo who then instructed them to stop the operation at all cost. To stop the operation wetie, Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna and Ademelugan decided to carry out a complete revolution to topple the whole government and return the government to a new civilian government to be headed by Awolowo.

Though the Igbo soldiers made some mistakes by allowing tribal sentiments to step into their initial planned full national revolution as planned by Awolowo from prison.

Awolowo instructed the military guys that carried out the coup to make sure they kill his political rivalries Akintola, Ahmadu Bello and Belewa. The picture is now getting clearer, thank you IBB.

No wonder Abacha swore that MKO Abiola will never become President because MKO Abiola also sponsored coups like Awolowo and later wanted to become civilian President and Northern Military guys who knew that Awolowo sponsored the 1966 coup swore that MKO Abiola just like Awolowo will never become President.

Now I see why Awolowo before his death advised Yorubas to work with Igbos more politically than with the North.

In case you are wondering, IBB said the Northern political elites later found out after the civil war that it was Obafemi Awolowo that sponsored the 1966 coup but they pretended but swore that Awolowo or any Yoruba person will never become President. Awolowo tried to become President and got frustrated and took his own life by rat poison, may his soul rest in peace.

Abiola thought he could achieve what Awolowo could not achieve so he befriended Northern military guys and invested his ill gotten wealth in them by sponsoring them to carry out coups, only for him to turn around to try to become President and Abacha and the North laughed at him and said over their dead bodies, that was why Abacha annulled the 1993 Presidential election.

The North wanted to do same to Tinubu and Tinubu noticed it and formed sick, and using Lagos wealth, he went behind to buy INEC Chairman after using El Rufai and Co to win the APC Primaries. Forget Tinubu is a very dogged politician, I really respect him for that.

IBB also made another vital point Igbos should learn from. IBB said that Igbos made mistake fighting for Yorubas in the 60s, that it was Igbo people's mistake of trying to stand for the Yorubas that made North to turn against Igbos.

Same way the North and Yorubas came for Igbos for standing up for Goodluck Jonathan an Ijaw man.

We Igbos of today must learn from history and from our mistakes of the past.

Ojukwu tried to fight for Ogundipe to take his rightful position as Head of State instead of his Junior Gowon after the death of Ironsi, but Ogundipe didn't have the courage to take what belonged to him, Ojukwu was so disappointed and refused to take orders from Gowon a Junior and rather demanded Nigeria be restructured to a confederation so that he won't take orders from Junior Gowon. These and the 1966 Northern pogrom were part of the things that led to the civil war.

Nzeogwu and co tried to help Awolowo fight his political battle with Akintola, Ahmadu Bello and Belewa and it bounced back against Igbos.

To all Igbos reading this, please spread this message, the best thing Igbos should do in Nigeria of today is to remain onlookers while focusing on their entrepreneurship and business growth worldwide and let Yoruba slug it out with their Hausa-Fulani masters this time.

Honestly, IBB is opening a whole lot of truths, the coming months and years ahead of 2027 will be interesting shocked shocked
grin
Lies and No source.

Ibo people and falsehood are 5 & 6.

Nzeogwu made two broadcast after the ibo coup there was no where in his speech were he said awolowo will be the new prime minister.

Instead he declared himself the Supreme commander of the North.

In every coup the new leader is always announced to the public whether successful or not, e.g case of dimka coup (Gowon) and orka coup (orka).

Go and read max siollun interview with nzeogwu himself before the civil war, never did he made mention that awolowo will be released.
