Politics › Re: Tinubu, Osinbajo Meet At Africa Energy Summit In Tanzania by Thiefobi1: 10:54am On Jan 29, 2025
Deputy1111:

• To drive Mission 300 and boost energy access

President Bola Tinubu, alongside former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, attended the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit held from January 27 to 28, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The summit focused on advancing Mission 300, a key initiative aimed at providing electricity access to 300 million Africans by 2030.

This mission is part of a broader effort to address the significant energy access gap in Sub-Saharan Africa, a region where energy access remains a critical challenge for economic development and quality of life.

During the summit, President Tinubu was expected to deliver a national address, reiterating Nigeria’s commitment to achieving universal energy access.

His address emphasized Nigeria’s critical role in the Mission 300 initiative, outlining the country’s strategy to increase investments in the energy sector, promote renewable energy, and encourage private sector involvement in energy infrastructure development.

This speech reinforced Nigeria’s strategic positioning as a leader in shaping Africa’s energy future.

A significant highlight of the summit was the meeting between President Tinubu and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who was a prominent figure in the discussions on energy access.

The meeting underscored their shared interest in reforming Nigeria’s energy sector and advancing the continent’s energy agenda.

The leaders discussed the importance of increased private sector investment and the role of renewable energy in addressing Africa’s energy challenges.

Their interaction emphasized the value of collaboration among African leaders to ensure energy security and sustainable development for the continent.

In addition to his discussions with Osinbajo, President Tinubu also met with Akinwumi Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Their meeting focused on fostering financial support for energy projects across Africa, particularly through multilateral institutions like AfDB, which has been a strong advocate for financing large-scale energy projects on the continent.

Key Objectives and Outcomes of the Summit

Mission 300 Initiative: The initiative aims to provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030. This aligns with the United Nations’ SDG 7, which seeks universal access to affordable and sustainable energy.

Renewable Energy Focus: Summit discussions highlighted the importance of renewable energy as a sustainable option to meet Africa’s growing energy needs. The event featured talks on expanding solar, wind, and hydro power generation to address the continent’s energy challenges in an environmentally friendly way.

Private Sector Investment: The summit underscored the critical role of the private sector in driving investments into Africa’s energy infrastructure. Emphasis was placed on creating public-private partnerships and exploring innovative financing models to fund energy projects.

Strengthening Regional Cooperation: African leaders acknowledged the need for a unified approach to energy challenges. Strengthening regional cooperation will be vital in sharing resources, knowledge, and technologies to enhance energy access across the continent.

The summit also featured various stakeholders, including international investors, energy experts, and industry leaders, all advocating for collective action to address Africa’s energy needs.

President Tinubu’s participation, alongside his meeting with Osinbajo and Adesina, demonstrated Nigeria’s strategic role in shaping the energy policies that will drive Africa’s future.

Summit was a defining moment for Africa’s energy sector. It provided a platform for leaders to reaffirm their commitment to improving energy access, explore renewable energy solutions, and foster public-private partnerships.

The dialogue between President Tinubu, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and Akinwumi Adesina is expected to lead to impactful initiatives, addressing Africa’s energy needs and driving sustainable development in the coming decade

Not true.

The man should have automatically declared himself the next Prime Minister then.

It was clearly stated that the Acting President, Nwafor Orizu then summoned Council of Ministers and they unanimously agreed to transfer power to the military.

From Senate President to Acting President and you say an ordinary Minister was the rightful person to take over power, I laugh.

Only the Senate President had the constitutional power to take over power at that point, not any appointed Minister.

You claimed we operate a Parliamentary government then which is somewhat true, how then did you expect an appointed Minister to take over power, not even an elected Parliamentarian?

In British government that operate a Parliamentaty system, no Secretary the equivalent of Ministers can take over government, the ruling party will have to elect another Prime Minister from amongst the MPs who are all elected officials and not appointed.

You guys lack understanding of how government works.

I am a well read and versatile man, I am a writer, an avid reader, a researcher, a war historian, a lover of politics and global leadership history. A PhD in view student, an established author with published books abroad that have won bestseller. I don't say what I don't know or not sure of, so when I speak you guys should calm down and learn and stop spreading old propaganda and lies out of tribal hate and dislike
Ignorance is a disease.

Your PhD is a waste

Or have you forgotten dipcharima was also a member of the parliament.

When NPC (balewa & Akintola alliance) the dominant party choose him to succeed balewa, as acting, why did orizu object and handed over power to his brother Ironsi.

What was Ironsi role in a parliamentary system of government.

Desist from trying to distort and twist the truth.

The coup was ibo plan to dominate other tribe.

You are spreading the same old lies and propaganda you guys used to incite other Nigerian tribes against Igbos for decades.

I asked you a simple question.

If Military carry out a coup today and remove Tinubu, Shettima, and the coup fails. Who is the next in line to take over government; is it The Senate President Akpabio or the Most Senior Minister under Tinubu's cabinet? Answer this simple question young man
Stop disgracing urself online.

The first republic was a parliamentary set-up. Not the American system of government.

In a parliamentary system same as the British system. A minister can be nominated to succeed the prime minister.

Ironsi forcefully took over the control of government unconstitutionally.

Reason why he had to suspend the constitution.

a parliamentary system, the hierarchy of power is as follows:
Parliament
The legislative body that holds the most power.

Prime Minister
The leader of the majority party in parliament and the head of the executive branch. The prime minister is responsible for forming the cabinet.

Cabinet
The executive body made up of members of parliament appointed by the prime minister. The cabinet is accountable to parliament and must resign if it loses parliament's confidence.
Parliamentary committees
Groups of parliamentarians that study proposed legislation, executive actions, and policies.

Parliamentary committees
Groups of parliamentarians that study proposed legislation, executive actions, and policies.
Explanation
In a parliamentary system, the legislative and executive branches are merged. The prime minister is elected by parliament, so the executive branch can't function without the support of the legislative branch.

gidgiddy:
As a parent myself, if my daughter developed kidney failure, and needed Kidney transplant, I would be desperate to save her life if I could. I understand the desperation of the Ekweremadu's to save their dying daughter, but you don't let desperation lead you to crime.

What Ekweremadu's should have done is go public with their daughters ailment and appeal for a Kidney donor. Who knows, people may have come foward

Being the typical Nigerian, Ike Ekweremadu approached a young down on his luck boy, promised him whatever, if he would be willing to give up his organ for his daughter. The boy jumped at the once in a life time opportunity of traveling to London. When they got to London, Ekweremadu's Doctor realised that the boy was not a perfect match for Ekweremadu's daughter.

Ekweremadu then foolishly told the boy that the deal was off and abandoned the boy in the UK. The boy, probably stranded, not knowing what do, ran to the Police for help. And that landed the Ekweremadu's in jail.

I don't have any sympathy for the boy, a wealthy politician does not fly a petty trader to London because of the 'grace of God'. He knew quite well what he was going to the UK for, and agreed to it. He only remembered the Police when he became stranded.

The Ekweremadu's messed up big time, but having served their sentence, they deserve their privacy and peace.

These three men are legends to the people of the south eastern Nigeria.

However while Peter Obi is fight tooth and nail to become the president of Nigeria, the other two who are now in detention have been fighting against Nigeria and killing their own brothers and sisters.

But if you look critically at the three of them, they all have one thing in common which is the power to deceive and manipulate their people.
It is still a wonder how they are able to manipulate the brains of millions of people in the South East while they are actually pursuing their own selfish interest.

Could it be right to say they are able to do this simply because they control the most gullible people? Which of them does it better is something to think about.

I don't believe u have a brain u reason with.

Obasanjo met the foreign reserve at $3b, upon transfer of power to yar-adua the reserve had grown to $42b.

Yar-adua inturn increase the reserve to $68b as a result of increase in oil price in international market.

Upon Jonathan assumption as acting president and president the reserve plummet from $68b to $28b as a result of fuel subsidy, dollar backing and corruption on his part.

Buhari in his part increased it from $28b to $31b.

While Tinubu has managed to increase it from $31b to $41b within 18months of his tenure.

Stop sounding like an illiterate when trying to defend a corrupt Jonathan government.

U said GEJ didn't invest in infrastructure😂
Another lie from APC whatsapp group.
GEJ built over 10 federal universities from scratch
GEJ revamped and built multiple federal airports
GEJ built multiple Almajiri schools
GEJ initiated the revamping of the railway system
Etc
Should i continue?
Is that the reason why he squandered our foreign.
