What stops them from picking him up from his working place/hospital if at all they were genuine? I cannot imagine the trauma the family would be in by that time of the night. My heart goes out to them honestly.

With an average lawyer, the doctor will come out from the case. This is a clear case of SELF-DEFENSE!!!
