You tend to do more when you have a faster data connection. At least android users can compare the network data usage with what the device says it has consumed..

For me etisalat may be pricey, but dont say it consumes data absurdly, check what youve been doing

PoliticsRe: The "Backwardness" Of Nigeria After Hosting FESTAC 77, Myth Or Reality? by threadstone(m): 12:22am On Apr 20, 2015
Super thumbs up to you
I think its high time we start taking things realistically and dissuade from attaching religious sentiments into everything... And for the person that said olympic games host countries tank after the games, i dont seem to recall usa or china going down economically even if u say uk is not doing well (which is a lot better than most of the eurozone currently)
Reference:
False. As a certain thread was closed down yesterday on the South African racist attacks I was alluding to the price Nigeria paid in the liberation struggle. Spare me a few moments and note the time lines.

For starters it is well known that Yakubu Gowon was the last Nigerian Head of State to be received warmly and on equal terms in Bukingham Palace.

After his ouster Nigeria under General Murtala took on the apartheid regime headlong. Nigeria became the pre-eminent voice of the international anti-apartheid movement. This pitted us in the UN and in other world capitals first against our colonial overlords Britain (strong backers of the racist regime) then the US (Britains ally).

In the process we lost the 'special relationship' Europe has with her former colonies (the kind Francophone countries enjoy and other Anglophone countries such as Ghana, the Gambia and S/Leone). We have not recovered that till date.

The late Murtala didn't care. He ramped up action, calling for boycotts of S/A and fuelling a new pan-african renaissance which led to FESTAC amongst others. Britain retaliated by dis-investing from Nigeria massively in most industries (except oil, obviously, and leading to the Lebanese and Indian influx of that period) . But this was beginning to hit our economy.

By the time Murtala was assasinated and Gowon fled to his motherland Britain (I refuse to believe they had a hand in that but...) our economy was going down. Coupled with the low oil prices an infruriated Obasanjo nationalised all oil assets and kicked out all European IOC's. The backlash was bad and our economy tanked. We were effectively isolated to the world but our African stock stood higher than ever before.

You know the west. They don't give up. The pressed and pressured for democracy as a panacea to our problems. Obasanjo caved in, Shagari stepped in and the money started flowing again.

The summary is this. If not for Murtala's pan africanism Nigeria at worst will have had a standard of living at par with middle income South Africa. We lost so much in our fight against apartheid. We sacrificed our economy and relationships with the west for Africa. We turned from their friends to their rivals and had the misfortune of playing against some of the meanest presidents and prime ministers in America and the UK at that time.

No it was not FESTAC that did us in. FESTAC was merely an expression of what grounded us. Pan-africanism. That is why OBJ remains highly respected in international circles as an african diplomatic warrior. That is how we got our honour as the giant of africa. Not by population or economy but by sacrifice and goowill. That is why he was brought back again in 1999 to get the anti-abacha foreign pro democracy sanctions off our backs. That is why he went roaming round the world trying to convince them Nigeria is back and loyal.

But see what is happening to us and other africans in S/A. That is why it hurts so much. Can they restore our lost decades of development. They bring us MTN, DSTv and Shoprite. We had better than these foreign investments prior 1976. Can they replace the lost scholarships, grants and co-operation in many fields only restored during the Shagari era. Most importantly can the South Africans restore the unending mistrust between Nigeria and the West. No.

If there was any spell cast on us it was the spell that made us look with compassion on Mandela and his co-travellers languishing hopelessly in prison and casting in our lot with the suffering people of South Africa and taking on a super-power on their behalf. These days it feels like a really bad spell.

You can still recieve app updates but updating the os means youd lose your jailbreak status. It is HIGHLY important to wait till the os has a jailbreak before updating to it (which will come in due time)
PhonesRe: What Are The Pros And Cons Of Owning An Iphone In Nigeria? by threadstone(m): 2:23pm On Mar 23, 2015
@ Gerrard59
The major flaw youll get using an iphone is that many people with low self esteem emanating from their devices (tecno jiayu infinix and a host of other android devices) will always tell you u made a mistake, its a crappy phone etc. majority of those saying shit about the phone have not used one and the few who have don't totally know the in-depth usage of it..
Another is most of them jumped straight to android up from java phones and bb os 4-7 thats why android is their all in all..

One person was even mentioing changing imei.. Go and try that with regular android oems and not ur chinese knockoffs

Which smartphone doesn't require data to run?
A simple jailbreak will clear out all limitations placed on it..

Airblue sharing allows bluetooth transfer
Bridge allows downloaded music straight to iTunes without pc connections
Barrel gives home screen custom animations
Appcake allows you to download paid apps free. Swipe selection, c.c settings, Winterboard weatherbord etc
You can download anything by default with idownloader.

Once u root an android u lose warranty, whats keeping you from jailbreaking.

On the final end, stick to a device that will guarantee you lag free software with updates running three years minimum. Iphone 4s released in 2011 is currently running 2015 ios 8.2 while samsung s5 is still queing for android lollipop.

please which OS would you advise a student to get for easy book-work? Thank you.
It depends.. How much is your budget? I may have said getting a windows tablet will make maximum sense because you'll be dealing with docs and other files.. A blackberry 10 (z10 or q5) will be much easier to maintain down the line in terms of data subscruption but if ure not ready to shed much money, a lumia (windows phone) or android (go with samsung or other major android oems)..

It still boils down to how much ure willing to spend

Feel like jumping into this argument...

The droidboys are here again doing what they do best- Bashing anyone who is not in their os platform.

Its saddening to hear that someones only measure of a phone not lagging is determined by how well i it runs ashphalt 8 (like say na benchmark app).

Do i have to shed out cash to get a high end device just to be lagfree (for the year pending the next heavy updates)

Some people just want something that works..

Like i said in one of my earlier posts on a thread similar to this.. The rate of customization and much tweaking declines as u grow older and get more engaged with work. Yeah initially, u may diss wp on first impression but later on you'll grow to love it because its fluidity and not so powerhungry apps. There is also an app for every feature even though the alternatives are not as robust as the android market.

i used it via cm 12 on the galaxy mega as far back as November after waiting for over a year for an upgrade from jb to kitkat so it was a quantum leap. its a pity only about 0.1% of the whole android ecosystem comprises of lollipop os users. its googles best work done on the android project. most of the current owners of android devices will have to load a custom build or get another phone preloaded with lollipop because with the exception of some flagship and tough midrange devices, youre stuck where u are. the best youll get may be 4.4.4.

Android still has a long way to go on OS upgrade for existing devices

I Remember back in then in primary four. After sch was ile kewu eveey week day and on saturdays at a mosque beside my house. Our closing prayer was to recite suratul bakarah aloud before leaving.

There was a day i didnt recite it aloud and the only thing on the imans mind was to strike me in the head twice with a fat cane. I just stood up crying, picked up my quran and went home straight. It took a lot of cajoling begging and a bottle of coke to make me return the next day plus she had a word with the imam about his excessiveness. That was the first and last time his cane touched me.

Even after higher school, i wonder if he feels the cane helps. The only thing it does is chase those kids away from islam and have a bad mindset about the religion from outside. Im sure most of us can relate to how we were brutalized by our ustaz and imams during quarinic lessons and i wonder why. Even those studying ifa dont go through all these.

The person that will touch my child for a minor offense will hear o.

I said something earlier regarding optimization and calibration.. Sony is one of the poorest in these, z2 was released in the first quarter 2014 while iPhone 6+ arrived late last year. Its really unfair comparing these two devices. Do yourself a great good and compare the below phones that arrived at the same time

iPhone 6+(iOS8), Google Nexus 6(Lollipop) and Samsung Galaxy Note 4(KitKat)

I await your feedback
A review i watched on youtube actually showed d iphone 6 going ahead of the nexus and note 4 running kitkat in opening recent apps/games while note 4 had to reopen them. D iphone slagged off when it came towards streaming services and at the end the nexus was the fastest in speed with note 4 coming second and iphone 6 last.
An important point to note is that note 4 was running kitkat and more lag is expected as u move up to lollipop. And both android devices were running on multiple core processors and 3gig ram vs dual core iphone on 1gig ram.
Its an impressive feat tho

No android device Will ever be as fluid as the nexus because the os is being optimized for the device. Others just lazily build hardware and wait for googles help in building an os so they can dump their bloatwares and sell off
My question is if u cant make maximum use of ur processors.. Why not build your own software

Back in the day every oem made their own os. Now google has made everyone so lazy even tecno will be shouting theyre better than iphone.

Im still awaiting a quadcore 3gig ram tizen samsung smartphone. Rubbishhh.

On the contrary, gtb nairamastercard works with appstore. Ive bought modern combat 5 there. Plus on cydia (jailbreak tweak market), i purchased airblue app With paypal(its linked to ur gtb mastercard as well).

I can share/recieve files via bluetooth, download mp3 and videos etc...

Plus not all apps on appstore are paid apps. Last i checked fifa 15 is freeeee.

you can also enjoy this, yes i say its for non geeks, And i never said an android with 512mb is faster than an iphone, i said a jailbroken iphone lags, it doesn't start instantly but gradually starts loosing its fluidity, because it tried to alter with the system partition iphone isnt made for customization or geeky stuff, it just cant handle it. hence the statement a jailbroken iphone is only as fluid as a 512mb ram android. you can also watch this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3Kp9jGjvFc
First you said its for non geeks. I say i just want something different. I have a friend too who wont trade his q10 for anything based on multi tasking. We can not all be in the same boat can we? PREFERENCE MATTERS.
Well i watched that video too.. Nothing new to see. Remember i said my last phone was running 5.0. Was expecting more techy stuff from the video guy. Only comparing keyboards, browsers etc. I hope he knows there's also chrome browser on ios and even with that i prefer opera browser to both of them because it loads faster with the same page.

Ive not noticed any lag in my jailbroken iphone 6. The way android users are so quick to say their phone is fluid doesnt hang makes me wonder what android i encounter daily on the job from all high end to the barest low end one.I was an android user for three years besides.

What is the percentage of android users into customization (custom roms busy box etc). Im a member of xda devs too by the way.

I choose to get an iphone, works for me, tweaking is allowed and it gets the job done.

Lolipop was the best thing to happen to android but only three percent of android users enjoy that at the moment.

iphone bested the htc one m8 hahaha. i cant just stop laughing.. ios simply has nothing, hence the speed. lets look at nokias of the old days, they ran on 2mb rams and co, very less hardware and yet they didnt lag, they wete okay then. its all os dude. imagine if all the smartphone power stuffs was given to those old nokia with low hardwares, they would blow up, same goes for ios, the os has nothing, hence the speed, what else can one do with an ios device if not tweet, browse, take a bunch of camera and just use it. no rewritable option, why wont the speed test with 1gb ram be good.. lol.. let an iphone try true multitasking , let an iphone run previously opened cache and still retain info. get an iphone and android, open youtube both on them then minimize them, keep the phones for 10 minutes , then open the minimized apps, the iphone would collapse them and give up, while the android still retains them. jailbreak an iphone and see how it gradually lags.. iphone is simply not made for devs nor power house, it is mearnt for those, what is on my phone users, they take what they get, no modification whatsoever, dude iphone is boring and you are talking to a former iphone 5 user here . android is for geeks, despite being a power house with all it can do, it is still on par with your loving iphone 6 speed. and the ui is as fluid as love. oh lovely lollipop.art runtime based on 64 bit arciteture is just the boss. i dare an iphone to do what an android does and wven reach up to a 512 mb rlandroid.. i dare to see a fluid jailbroken iphone. i jailbroke mine and the lag was just there. android remains the boss . lets also watch out for best phone 2015, i bet it is still gonna be an ANDROID.
U and i may never meet at the same middle ground. Ur android works for u. Fine my iphone does too. Ure an old iphone user switching to android. The reverse is the case here. From bb to lg to samsung then finally iphone. Mind you i had d galaxy mega for close to two years too. So all those tweaking, deodexing etc is not new to me too. You say a 512mb android is better at multi tasking than iphone. Come on, you can do better than that.
Me thinks ure argument here is based on lolipop right?

The population of android devices is less than 5% so im speaking in generality,

My iphone 6 here is not boring and doesnt lag even after jailbreaking. I constantly tweak it erryday thanks to cydia. Lots of devs here too. So i disagree when u say its for non geeks. D only difference is because android comes on linux based environment and for d ios u need to go an extra step.

Let me leave u with this. Enjoy watching

But i hope u heard that dear iphone 6 trounced ur darling htc one m8 in a speed test even s5 too. With all the 3gb ram on note 4, its not as fluid as iphone 6 in multitasking. That was for the kitkat build, since u say ure on 5.0 i may have to see that too. iCant deny the lollipop is a nice fluid. Ive used it and i know. We can trade demos too. When i talk about androids i never do a mistake of mentioning the numerous chinese crapdroids that exist in ur ecosystem.
What else would u expect from probably google sponsored project? A blackberry?
Its just there. Forget the noise

slinkman:
custom roms is their not because the android doesn't give it all but because when we are bored of the all, we flash a new custom rom and start all over again... android users are never bored. and you should get yourself a great Android phone and not these chinese crap. android keeps winning the best phone award. lol and i bet you haven't even seen or used lollipop, lol. that is the update that sent ios home. the lollipop is lag free , crash free, and super fast. i am using sense 6 lollipop on my htc one m8 and God, talk about smooth Nd fast, if you want a video demo, i can make for you to see.. lol. android gives me all. anyone who gets an android is less bothered about security, because android is all about fun, tweaks customization, one can simply do anything with droid. appstore better than playstore? haha i laugh. android is just so great. their is a reason why android was the os chosen to be shot outerspace so as to monitor if their are lives out. Google all this before posting please. anything that would ever make me use an iphone again is if android cease to exists. android the ecosystem of all ages. best phone in the whole world 2014 was htc one m8, 2014 was htc one m7, 2012, was samsung galaxy s3, 2011 was samsung galaxy s2. all android phones lol. android just rules.

i read all your point trying to see a point where the iphone best android, but i couldn't, it is rated all over the web and globe, when it comes to customization and enjoying phone, android rocks. Iphone is a toyish Jail.
When it comes to being lagfree. The ios is better. When it comes to firmware updates for devices, the ios is better. (Iphone 4s released in 2011 has ios 8 released in 2014) apple wont tell u to get a new phone to enjoy the new os features like android does.
The initial purpose of flashing custom roms was to imput new features ported from the latest rom build and even with that, it is not 100% perfect as some features wont work. I used cm 10-cm12 so i believe i know what im saying.
When it comes to being secure, the ios is better, you will never hear of a malware, virus loaded on an iphone.

The appstore is better than playstore ( YES I SAID IT). Every app that goes in the appstore is being verified by an apple employee, unlike playstore where a mumu developer will post a crappy app that may or may not work.
Even the appstore has better exclusive apps than playstore.

Shall i mention piracy is rampant on android ecosysystem too. An app developer releases a new app. In weeks wack developers copy the game plan, codes and re engineer them and release too.
Temple run snowden run etc.

Youre less supscetible to an attack on ios than on an android.

The proud mentality that android is better seems like a farce. Thats why we see threads posting iphone killers, beasts etc because they run android they think theyre better.

I would rather stick to a phone where its 1.2 mega pixel is sharper than a 20.7mp android camera. Its dual core is faster than an octacore android device.

Customization: jailbreak and see the future.
When you have an os that gives it all, there is no need to use custom roms

Shall I continue
