I would like you to replay the video and listen carefully to what the senior guy is saying. Basically .... the military should not be in civilian space. The problem is they have been in civilian space for sooo long that wayyyy too many of us believe they belong there. Even the TV guy didn't grab what the man was saying ... or why would he tell the guy that maybe soldier training should be upgraded ?(so they can interact better with civilians). Like the guy said ... Police are trained to Protect and Serve .... soldiers are trained to defend and kill. Ask anyone in NYC when last they saw a soldier ... not a National Guard on weekends ... when last or if they have ever seen a soldier... except the ones at the recruiting outposts ....they will be scratching their heads to recall. We need to really listen to what that man said .

Yes the major general was not right but as a civilian even if you did make that mistake, a simple sorry would have calm the tensions before pleading your case. When I wanted to join the Nigerian Navy, then i was on my 2nd year in the university. It was all about passion and dedication to save in the Nigerian Armed Forces. I was swimming superfluously and not driven by lack of job to be a soldier.

After taking the NDA exam in Port Harcourt at a naval base, my name didn't appear when the results were published. I said ok, let me continue with my education.

Today, I feel happy about not been enlisted in the Navy considering how the Nigerian Govt made mess of the Armed Forces.

A friend of mine in the Navy told me some Naval officer don't even know how to swim. I was shocked to the marrow cos that should be the first requirement to be an officer of the Nigerian Navy. This is mediocrity at best.

It's a shame seeing soldiers extort money from motorists and engage in fuel bunkering.

I can relate, when I applied to the army after school, my name did not come out on the published list. It was quite disappointing for me then. My colleague name came out because he had a godfather in the Air Force. Me no get anybody na except God. Now I am so happy my name did not come out. I have the opportunity to join US army now with my degree, the whole army thing just tire me…my friend continue asking me when I will join. Civilian life for US sweet.

The Nigerian army is overstretched. They will do police work, that’s why they are not respected. What is the military doing there before they were slaughtered. They are just lucky guns are not legalized in Nigeria, as they are coming back to burn down the community, they will be met by more bullets and they will lose more of their officers. The government should send all military men back to barracks.

No country trains its workers and allow them to japa without serving...even in Israel you need to serve in the military. Putting conditions for people to show their skills and their competence before japaing...helps everyone including those they will be treating abroad. Imagine, you are in UK and someone from Nigeria that has never practiced Nursing is treating you after license verification with zero experience.

My only ask is that ...it should be easy for people to train in hospitals without knowing people, and they should be able to serve without difficulties for those 2 years.

You are very stupid with your comparison, comparing a course studied with military. Compare NYSC with compulsory military service of other countries. With these your statements, your reasoning is very poor. Nigeria govt is not training these workers in school, some attended private schools. This makes your comparison and statements foolish
