Uber announced it was shutting down its auto-leasing business Xchange Leasing in September, and now it’s being bought by startup auto leasing company Fair.com, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The report says that Fair.com, which offers alternative leases where you can keep a car as long as you like, will buy Xchange Leasing for an undisclosed amount. Uber is not selling the company outright, though. It will take a stake in Fair and offer access to Fair’s website through the Uber app. Fair will offer jobs to about 150 workers in return.

THE Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, last night announced a conditional suspension of the strike it embarked upon five weeks ago.

The Lagos State University (LASU) Governing Council has dismissed 17 academic and non-academic staff, including the chairman and vice-chairman of Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) of the institution, over various malpractices.

The ASUU Chairman and Vice-Chairman are Dr Isaac Oyewunmi and Dr Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu. The spokesman of LASU, Mr Ademola Adekoya, said in Lagos on Friday that the institution also dismissed two non-academic members of staff and demoted two others. Adekoya said that the decision to dismiss the workers was taken at the 115th Governing Council Meeting of the university, which held on Thursday.

“Pursuant thereto, the Governing Council with immediate effect dismissed 15 members of the academic staff, two members of non-academic staff, and sanctioned two others for different acts of misconduct,” Adekiya said. He said Oyewunmi was dismissed for demanding N50, 000 from students while Adeyemi-Suenu was sacked for “unilaterally” altering...

The army Headquarters said Operation EGWU EKE II, (Python DanceII), will hold in the South-east from Friday September 15 to Saturday October 14.
