Typical American Playbook: Start and fund terrorism, blame the victims and withdraw funding to the victims.
They should keep their funding.

To the idiot Nigerians lobbying Washington, keep doing it, your people will be ones to suffer the fallout.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Apply For FG Power Force Programme 2026 (Meter Installer Training) by timbabng(m): 2:45pm On Jul 06
My advice to unemployed youths is simple: Apply!
Ignore the pessimistic voices. This is a skill that will become more valuable in the years ahead as Nigeria continues to invest in improving its power sector.
Soon, both old & new buildings will require properly installed electricity meters, and certified meter installers will be in high demand. Even 5,000 trained installers won't be enough to meet the demand.
If you have the opportunity, don't overthink it, Apply!
TravelRe: Reasons Why Brain Drain And The Japa Trend Will Continue In Nigeria by timbabng(m): 2:27pm On Jul 04
Rapmoney:
It is obvious that Nigeria as a country has lost most of her best brains to the economies of other countries in Europe, North America, Australia, and even Asia. Every year, seasoned professionals leave in droves in what we normally call the 'Japa Syndrome'. Many brilliant medical practitioners, bright engineers, wonderful accountants, astute technicians, and outstanding educators have left. They did not leave because they hated Nigeria, but they did not want to get stuck in an environment where their skills and expertise are usually rewarded with peanuts.

If you don't want a tree to grow, you must start from the roots, and not the trunk, branches, leaves, or fruits. This is the case with Nigeria and the Japa Syndrome. Whenever the government want to fight a problem, they start from the trunk, branches, leaves, and fruits, instead of the roots. Spending huge amounts of funds on Anti-Japa programmes on National TV and radio will never solve the issue. Making long speeches and organising endless seminars will never solve the problem.
The brain drain and japa syndrome will continue in Nigeria due to the following reasons:

1. The 'Stay back and build Nigeria' is an illusion. It is easy to ask Nigerian youths to stay back and build Nigeria, but the young ones are not blind. They can clearly see how the people who keep telling them to stay back and build are coordinating themselves and the affairs of the country. Public officials embezzle outrageous amounts of funds meant for development and nothing is done. In fact, they still contest elections and force themselves into elective offices, and you still expect the youths to stay back and build? Build on what exactly? Isn't it pure madness that the people who control the resources to build are squandering the same resources, while still asking young people to stay back and build?

2. Better renumeration in the western world: I have seen highly skilled individuals in Nigeria receiving peanuts as salaries. Imagine a medical doctor, after years of strenuous training receiving 250k as salary! A data scientist receiving 120k as salary! A seasoned teacher with an MEd receiving 80k as salary. If these people don't leave, they might continue to go round in the vicious circle that has been created by the system and die wretched. The authorities do not care!

3. The increasing level of insecurity in the country : There are a lot of Nigerians who relocated, and others who are planning to relocate, not because of increase in pay or making more money, but to be in an environment where they can move freely at anytime of the day without fear of being kidnapped or killed by terrorists. It is as terrible as that. People can no longer move freely from Benin to Lagos, from Onitsha to Ondo, from Katsina to Abuja, from Kogi to Osun. It is a huge slap on Nigeria as a country. It is a core duty of the government to protect its citizens, and not the other way round. If you don't know this as an adult, your education is a total waste!

4. Better education for their children : The educational system in Nigeria needs total overhauling. What Nigeria currently has is a carade. It is a caricature of education. An education that teaches children what to think instead of how to think is a huge problem. Many Nigerians want better education for their children, so moving out becomes non-negotiable. The policy makers are more concerned with changing the NYSC uniform to Ankara!

5. Ridiculously low human capital development : Real development goes beyond construction of coastal roads. What is real development? Real development is what the average citizen does, what he earns in a month, and the things that his earnings can fetch for him in the market. That is where you start from. That is human capital development. That must come first before we begin to talk about other things like coastal roads and the rest. You put the horse before the cart, and not the other way round. What concerns the average Chinedu, Aliyu, Adewale, or Rukevwe with coastal roads when he has no light to power his small business? You can only transport goods through coastal roads if you are producing. Is the environment conducive to produce? The government focuses more on survival than on human capital development.

Last take: I have chosen not to be politically right. And it is deliberate, because I have observed that things go astray because many of us always want to be politically right. We see spades, and call them spoons. Before you argue with me, go and do a thorough research on the Social Contract of modern nations. You will discover that there are so many areas your government cheats you on. Providing security and a conducive environment for economic activities is not and has never been your duty. Most people are just politically miseducated.
Immigration is a natural human phenomenon.
The reasons you provided contribute to it, but it will still happen without them.

Despite our population, Nigeria ranks 25th globally in terms of emigrant population. We are just very loud about it.
Developed countries like Russia rank 5th , United Kingdom is 13th, Germany is 16th, Italy is 20th. Despite their lower populations, they still have more people living in other countries.
EducationRe: Nigerians Will Start Going To University In Burkina Faso - David Hundeyin. by timbabng(m): 1:21pm On Jul 04
Why would anyone think this is a good idea? The Junta is trying everything possible to prevent his people from waking up. He'll keep them boxed in and continue feeding them propaganda. I won't be suprised if he restricts the internet in the future. David Hundeyin is clearly suffering from mental health issues. How does this translate to improvement in education?

University of Ibadan is ranked #863 in the world while the best university in Burkina Faso is ranked #3506.
PoliticsRe: Miyetti Allah Rules Out Reprisal Attacks After Chairman's Killing In Benue by timbabng(m): 12:17pm On Jul 02
Not like Fulanis have a good reputation, but they have also been victims many times. And because they don't speak up they are always portrayed as the bad guys. If the killing of their chairman was the other way round, it would have been everywhere. Killers should be brought to justice, no matter the tribe.

And when someone once said:

..the person was being insulted and called a Racist. Apparently, apart not having the mental capacity to govern society, it appears we don't even have the mental capacity to LIVE PEACEFULLY WITH EACH OTHER!
Most war casualties in the history of the human race were caused by white people. Apart from colonial-era genocides across the globe. We have:

World war 1 : 15-22 million souls
World war 2 : 70-80 million souls

Also, the US records over 300 gunshot victims with an average of 115 deaths daily. That's more than Bandits and Boko Haram, but they don't wash their dirty linen outside.
CultureRe: Ojude Oba Video For This Year As Released By Niyi Fagbemi by timbabng(m): 6:39am On May 31
autoez:
While it's important to preserve our culture and celebrate events like Ojude Oba and other traditional festivals across Nigeria, we must also ask ourselves some difficult questions.

Nigeria is still a developing nation battling poverty, unemployment, poor infrastructure, and economic hardship. Are we focusing enough on the things that truly move us forward?

Every year, millions of naira are spent on grand displays, expensive outfits, luxury cars, and social media showmanship. But beyond the glamour, what tangible impact do these events have on the average Nigerian struggling to survive?

If we can organize festivals of this magnitude successfully year after year, it shows that we have the capacity to come together and achieve great things. Imagine if that same energy, influence, and resources were directed towards empowering youths, creating jobs, supporting businesses, and investing in education.

Sadly, many young people see the lavish lifestyle on display and begin to believe that appearing wealthy is more important than building wealth. Some may even be tempted to take shortcuts just to "belong" or make an appearance at the next edition.

Our obsession with showmanship is becoming alarming. We celebrate consumption more than production. Alcohol companies, beverage brands, fashion businesses, and luxury vendors make huge profits from these events, yet the communities around us remain largely poor.

This is not an attack on culture. Culture is important. Tradition is important. But progress is equally important.

As a nation, we must begin to ask ourselves: Are these endless parties and celebrations moving us forward or keeping us distracted from the real work of nation-building?

Nigeria doesn't just need more celebrations. Nigeria needs more empowerment, more innovation, more productivity, and more opportunities for its people.

Food for thought.
The problem is that you are seeing it from a narrow perspective. Here are some of the benefits:

1. Ojude Oba generates a lot of Tourism Revenue every year. Visitors across Nigeria and the diaspora visit Ijebu Ode and spend money on hotels, transportation, food, entertainment, and shopping.

2. It creates temporary jobs for event organizers, security personnel, vendors, photographers, decorators, transport operators, and performers.

3. Supports small businesses that provide services during the festival. Souvenir sellers experience a surge in demand. Local artisans gain a platform to showcase and sell traditional products.

4. A season can inject hundreds of millions and potentially billions of naira into the local economy through visitor spending, business activity, and tourism-related services.

I hope you saw the sponsors of this year's event, like FCMB, Globacom etc.
PoliticsRe: Lere Olayinka Shares Emeka Ike's Confidential Voter Details by timbabng(m): 6:16am On May 31
Obidients are deflecting. Whether the law permits it is beside the point. Why would someone with no roots, ties, or connection to a community want to politically represent its people? That's highly disrespectful.
PoliticsRe: Despite Over-borrowing By N1.54trn, FG Implements Only 17.66% Of Capital Project by timbabng(m): 8:13pm On May 29
The headline is meant to be alarming because they know most Nigerians are educated illiterates.

A big chunk of the borrowing was multilateral/bilateral loans. These are project-tied borrowing, so the money may have been approved or drawn down, but projects haven’t yet reached the disbursement stage.

The report also said the budget line for those project-tied loans recorded “zero spending” during the period reviewed, which means the money has not been spent!

Why can't Nigerians read information available online by themselves?!!

The only concern here is that implementation is slow, majorly because of bureaucracy!

Such an unending shame of a begi begi continent looking for free food and cheap loans

every single year one country in the West or Asia summons a whole Africa continent and the leaders go and beg for handout... rubb..ish
This mindset is usually a sign of Inferiority Complex. Free yourself from it.

In January, India invited Europe for EU-india summit. Does that mean India is richer than all of Europe? Or did they go to India for begi begi?

Free yourself.

In other words, you are saying he won without Yoruba votes, in a Yoruba state.

You will be shocked in 2027.

PoliticsRe: Shehu Sani Backs Tunji-Ojo’s Passport Withdrawal From Citizenship Renouncers by timbabng(m): 9:02pm On Apr 11
givedemwotowoto:
This directive doesn’t address the issue.

The concern from those renouncing their Nigerian citizenship is not about whether passport is withdrawn or not. That part is expected. No issue there.

The core issue they’re complaining about is that they’re being charged millions of naira to renounce their citizenship. One X user alleged they were asked to pay N5 million for each member of his family, while Grok said it’s officially N2 million for each person. But we know Nigeria when it comes to official vs insider cost, else nobody will attend to your case if you don’t pay more.

They need the official renunciation documents to complete their citizenship process for their country, but they’re stuck because they first have to pay millions.

This directive doesn’t solve the problem, but of course it’s meant for Tinubu supporters for praise singing regardless of whether they understand it or not.
It is officially 5 million naira + 20k processing fee. Who cares what grok says. It was the same Nigerian citizenship that helped them get to where they are, so they should look for the money.

PoliticsRe: You Are The Author Of Your Fate - APC To ADC by timbabng(m): 10:28pm On Apr 02
A group of people are so desperate to remove Tinubu from power that they would rather vote the people that destroyed the country back into power. It takes a high level of desperation to want people like David Mark, Malami, Emefiele, Aregbesola back into power. With their long track records of failure, some people want to hand Nigeria back to them. It's baffling.
BusinessRe: China Agrees Zero Tariff On Nigeria’s Export From May 1 by timbabng(m): 8:46pm On Mar 31
I think it's becoming a form of mental illness when good news about your country gives you headache. It’s like hoping the very plane you’re on goes down.

Anyways, For those downplaying it, Nigeria already exports over $2 billion worth of goods to China each year. It may not be record-breaking, but the policy should boost that figure by making Nigerian goods more attractive to Chinese importers.

PoliticsRe: President Obasanjo Didn't Win Any State In Southwest In The 1999 Elections? by timbabng(m): 11:58pm On Mar 14
OBJ has zero political influence in the SW. The reason he didn't win any SW state is because he's a horrible human being, and that's a Fact. OBJ will do everything in his power to bring you down if he feels you are going to be more successful than him. He was also against Abiola's June 12 Mandate, so the question then was : why should he be the one to reap the fruits of what he was against?

People in the comments don't even understand how to read the charts. What happened to Education in this country? Just shouting APC, Buhari.

Despite our rapid population growth, access to electricity went up to 61%. We were around 125 million In 1999. That means we would have been close to 100% now if not for the reckless population explosion.
PoliticsRe: When 7% Turns Out In FCT, Celebration Is Premature — Showunmi by timbabng(m): 5:41am On Feb 28

So, people came out to vote more this year. LGA elections are not general elections and do not attract a lot of voters.

Who started the phrase “Nigeria is a Giant of Africa” ?.

He/She deserves a bed in a psychiatric hospital.

Nothing destroys an image of a Nation more than Islamic terrorism, this is why we are calling for the total ban on sharia law in Nigeria..

Nigerian image started getting destroyed since 2009 when the fruit of sharia started manifesting.. Now look at where we are today..
Your assumption is not the main reason. Nigerians had visa free entry to around 32 countries before 2009, but now have access to 44. Other countries have managed to increase their passport strength but Nigeria is struggling because of these vices:

Visa overstays,
Excessive Asylum claims ,
Fake documents,
Drug trafficking.

If all these are taken care of, the risk profile of Nigeria will improve drastically.

So, blame your fellow compatriots.
HealthRe: Nigeria Isn’t As Bad As You Think — Let Me Explain by timbabng(m): 10:50pm On Feb 11
Most people don't know how bad it is, in the so called developed countries. I spent 10 hours in 2021 waiting in the ER with severe pains in Canada. Immigrants now travel home for surgery because they'll give you 6 months to 15 months wait time for a surgery. Only life-threatening surgeries are prioritized.

Here's a dude that died in Edmonton 2 months ago after waiting 8 hours in emergency with chest pain.
