Knowing Gernot rohr well, he is going to set up his team to defend and counter against us.
Probably in his preferred 4-2-3-1 set up....I really hope chelle gets it right, especially the timing of his substitutions

We don't have the profile to play a flat 2 man midfield, how hard is it for our coaches to understand this...
I'm glad we won, but I still have my doubts on eric chelle... hopefully when afcon comes, everything should be clearer

What did nff do ?

They job is to provide resources they’re not supposed to dictate a philosophy for a coach not that we have one to begin with
Are you being serious brohuh Unless you're not looking at the bigger picture you'd know the rot in our football across all age grade lies squarely on the NFF..
There is no shortage of talents in nigeria, but daft administrators who have limited knowledge about how football should be ran

NFF those people are the problem, no plan for football, no sound long term plan, no building no consistency.

Just rinse repeat mediocrity while hoping they get by luck sometimes so they can take glory..
NFF is the major cause of the decline in our football, i won't blame the coaches or players, we have dullards running our football hence the decline in every aspect of soccer in nigeria today

What is this?? 😂😂

Damn! This post here packs all the punches and bazookas. Holy moses!

See choking
Why can't we set up with a midfield trio of Onyedika, Uche, Iwobi, It'll give us more balance and reduce the creative burden on iwobi..
If by the next afcon we are still parading the likes of ndidi in our midfield then we would be disappointed once more
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Tinneh: 7:49pm On Sep 10, 2025
To be honest the decline in our football lies at the doorstep of the leadership of the NFF, look at our junior teams in recent years, they have regressed so badly we now even struggle to qualify for competitions we once used to dominate....
The Nff is been ran by old men who have zero knowledge about football, just interested in their pockets thats all, in as much as we are all angry with the players and coaches, our inability to qualify for back to back world cup tournaments is on the NFF executives, in a sane country they should be resignations by now

Fredrick was a youth player at Brentford when he was invited to play in the Unity cup. If the coach had not giving him the chance, we wouldn't have seen how good he is. It is time to ease out underperforming players in the team and give fresh legs a chance.
Raphel onyedika is one player I always feel sad for, in 2025 we shouldn't still be starting Ndidi as our Dm, when we have onyedika sitting on the bench

I really wish moses Simon doesn't start any of our games, his recent performance in this qualifying phase hasn't been encouraging at all,
Too casual and plays without any sense of urgency

I would av replaced Tolu with akor ..but I just heard he’s injured ….cos everything Tolu does; osimhen will do it better …Tolu is just another onauchu
Tolu was influential in our last home qualifiers, and I think the coach has selected only those he has previously worked with, this isn't time to be trying out new untested players

I'm not surprised, and in fact, I'm happy with this result. Hopefully, it brings Chelle back to reality. It's important not to impose ideas on players but rather to analyze their strengths and find the best tactics to utilize them. Some people may criticize the players and claim they are inadequate for these tactics, but perhaps the truth is that the tactics themselves are unrealistic. I hope he learns from this experience and wakes up before our match against South Africa; otherwise, we could be in for a long ride.
Well said,I care little about the chan boys, our major obstacle lies ahead next month away to S.A

This has to be one of the most underwhelming transfer windows of Nigerian players we've had in a while.

I'm suprised players like onyedika, ademola lookman, akoredolu, havent moved on yet with the way they performed last season

Thanks brother. I was disappointed by the performance. Not one single clear cut chance with all that possession. I don't understand why some players were dropped in camp. I didn't see a winger better than Joseph Atule or an AMF better
than Isaac Saviour. Then taking 5 or 6 remo Stars midfielders?
The qualifiers I watched both legs vs ghana was way better than their performance last night, in my opinion Eric chelle shouldn't have handled this chan team, instead the coaches that qualified the team understands this players better, they was no any clear pattern of play yesterday , just playing running headless around the pitch.....
How do you go to a tournament with no recognised defensive midfielder, and release a starting 11 with no wingers

I understand that the overall quality of the NPFL is low, which means that the technical ability of the players will also be limited. However, a coach's role is to maximize the performance of the team as a whole, making the sum greater than its individual parts.

I find it frustrating that Chelle continues to use the diamond 4-4-2 formation. It doesn't make sense. Why not stick with a more conventional 4-3-3, 4-4-2, or even 4-2-3-1, which the players are already familiar with? The diamond 4-4-2 formation requires very specific types of players, which are hard to come by, along with many disadvantages associated with the formation itself.

I suspect that he will continue using this formation with the main team in September, and it won't yield results. It's often said that insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.
Well said, coach chelle is not proving to be a flexible manager so far, his teams tend to start games with high energy but later burnout, leading to late equalisers

I think some of the guys that qualified have japaed, Papa Daniels, Fatokun and maybe the Rangers guy Savior too. I am interested in actually watching them play when the tourney starts.
That's true actually most got deals abroad, I was suprised by the exclusion of zayyad musa and the rangers center back

Chelle has removed the Rangers/Remo Stars dominance. BTW, I would have thought certain players like Papa Daniel should have played CHAN before jetting out.
@Basco what's your assessment of the squad list by Chelle? I really like Atule and Ayomide Cole but they were dropped. Wishing the team all the best.
We're going without an actual recognised defensive midfielder in the squad, and an entirely diffrent midfield from those that qualified us against ghana, also some key names during the qualifiers were left out probably due to chelles tactical preferences. Overall I wish the team the best
