Victor Orakpo, 18-year old Nigerian striker from the VOE Football Academy in Nigeria has joined OGC Nice on a 3yr deal.
So happy for the lad, watched him play a couple of times in lokoja, one to watch out for

[quote author=Barryseal post=128165553]Nigerian journalists on their knees begging Nwabili to fit for Friday. I don't know if anyone saw how the players were frenetically propping Nwabili to get back on his feet when he went down.
If we can't have Nwabili ready, then the Enyimba keeper should be suited up. He's been inform this season and last I checked, he even saved a penalty.
Peseiro, please be brave!

major difference between uzoho and the enyimba goalie, both don't inspire confidence at all , I've watched ojo's game in caf clubcompetitions, he's also error prone...let's just hope nwabali is fit before friday

I felt for him when he gave away the corner kick that resulted to what would have been our first goal. I had to caution myself to stop feeling pity for my enemies, but I really felt for the guy, especially when he was trying to defend the goal with his life.
When he touched that ball, my mind went to the situation that led to the corner kick that kicked out ghana , when ofori touched the ball under little pressure

Shocked some people insulted this coach. I said it before that the problem lies with our players. We kept on insulting the coach for no reason. Give the guy his accolade. He has gotten his tactics right
His insistence on 4-4-2 was the problem, we just didn't have the right personnel to effect that formation, see how the team is performing now that he's flexible with his tactics

Let's assess Iwobi's over performance pls. Leave Commentator aside fes.
He tried, but i was angry he didn't return that pass to lookman, could've put lookman through on goal

On a normal epl match

Both Cameroon center backs would have been on yellow each by now
This reminds me of that afcon qualifier against Cameroon years back in uyo, right from the start ighalo destabilised both center backs, I'm happy osihmen is doing same today

Can't believe we're dominating Cameroon physically on and off the ball, this set of players are playing with real determination

Some of my observations from our group games so far
The boys have showed real hunger in all the matches played so far most especially the defence , lookman and onyeka...
Sanusi has good position awarenss in attacking positions, but his finishing is a major issue,
Aribo non existent as a central midfielder, way too limited and went missing in the last game.
Our defence has been top notch, but its obvious our centre backs are limited on the ball reason we have issues progressing the ball out of the back most times and often go long and the ball playing limitations of onyeka is also a reason for this..
Lastly peseiro has suprised me alot, I never knew he could be this flexible with this Set ups
He's gotten his tactics spot on, had our forwards been more clinical We could have topped the group effortlessly.

The boys showed real determination today, I loved the fighting spirit, they fought for the victory
Onto the next one

Regardless of the set up today, I expect iheanacho to start or at least come in early in the 2nd half, he's the best finisher we have in this team presently
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Tinneh: 5:24pm On Jan 14, 2024
To be honest we need a central midfielder with the profile of Nwakali, yusuf and onyeka share similar characteristics hustle players, but little use with the ball
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Tinneh: 5:22pm On Jan 14, 2024
No creativity from the central areas, we looked clueless building out from the back,
Ola Aina one of the most unserious player, plays with no urgency... well I'll spare osihmen some slack even the best do miss chances, but he can do better
Lookman and yusuf were the ones showing effort today....nothing to say about peseiro

We can still play 4-4-2 with Lookman as the second striker
The peseiro i know must play 4 4 2, either aribo or musa will pair osimhen

IMO, 3-4-3 is more or less like 4-4-2 because in the end, we will be having 2 midfielders... the man just doesn't know anything.. Rohr was better than this..
I don't miss Rohr, and I never liked the idea of hiring Peseiro either, especially after I saw his CV
You know ball, it's still basically the same midfield set up, just difference in attack and difference, this is the first time I won't be raising my hopes going into a tournament with the GWG

Oga Zambia lost a whole squad to plane crash with exceptional of Kalusha Bwalya and made it to Afcon final.

Keshi took out Ogude and Igiebor, brought in Onazi and Mba and we had a team to beat in 2013 Afcon.

Truly missing Ndidi or Iheanacho would affect the team but a good tactical coach should have his way.
Key word *A good tactical coach* is peseiro that?? Well fingers crossed I wish us the best.. but I'm open to any possibility at this stage
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Tinneh: 9:49am On Jan 03, 2024
If ndidi is out and this coach insists on his ancient 4-4-2 formation, then we are headed for doom because there's no way we won't be overun in midfield. This is me being realistic here
A second round exit at best
