I really don't understand that FDB
After being played out of positions in past games, he got an opportunity to stamp his authority in a very familiar role and unfortunately he ghosted for most parts ,,,

As much as we are well stacked in the right back position, I hope Eric Chelle sees the need to scout for quality players at left back position....
Zaidu and Onyemachi have not really been convincing at all,,

Onachu only played 45mins and was falling all over the places giving wrong passes. Just don't know why he's still invited.
Okoye prefer to be a starter in Europe than in home games in Nigeria. I can't remember the last time he was on the post for home game.
I'd never be a fan of players like Onuachu, umar sadiq in super eagles, they don't fit into our strengths, no disrespect to both but i feel their style of play is too languid and rigid

Ibrahim Buhari, 24 y/o CB at Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan also attracting some interest from Turkey and the English Championship.
This guy played in the npfl few years ago, if I'm not mistaken

Philip Otele is a fine player on that left channel. Aside his assist for the Yusuf second goal which was well weighted and well timed, he brings a presence and energgy to the LW when onfield. Interesting player.

He can still work on his frequency of touches though. Sometimes he takes one or two touches too many to execute certain actions and it can soil his decision making.
Please what setup did eric chelle use over this past 2 games, is it his preferred diamond or he tried something new?

Just seeing this. Will give it a listen but I have already pointed out the possibility of playing him further forward as a CM and there is even the possible evolution into a CAM in the lad but I dont rule out the transform from a double pivot CDM to a Lone Pivot CDM because the high technicality of the #6 role is key and best combined with Elite Athleticism.
I learnt he was an attacking midfielder coming up the ranks as a grassroot player back then in Onitsha, he probably suffered the same fate as mikel obi when he got to Europe.

It's a 2-in-1 thing. His in-game subs alongside his player profiling to suit the exact tactical sub needs at any given moment.

So this 2-in-1 issue for me definitely suggests he still needs work on his game reading even though I have seen improvements compared to when he first began. But it is not eureka just yet.

But on improving players to suit roles... Chelle gets an A. Did it with Ndidi. Did it with Osayi. And much more.
Well said, tournament football has given him enough time to implement his ideas and understand his players more, but games against congo and recently morroco showed that he still lacks the ability to tactically alter his gameplan when plan A is not working..
I believe moving forward he'd do better in that aspect, hopefully the NFF chieftains retain him

I am more concerned with Akinsanmiro as he is a lad who can deputise in that LCM role in Chelle's 4312/442 diamond and is a gifted ball carrier as well but I wont knock Chelle for not giving him gametime because I believe the experience of watching and soaking as a 21 y/o is also vital and will be useful for future assignments when called up.
He returns to Pisa hopefully a better informed Midfield player who will show even better performances onfield.

But as much I am convinced with Chelle and believe he should continue, I still have one lingering concern. A concern that I believe he will address as he is allowed to continue these good works.

In all, for me, Chelle did well giving nearly everyone gametime.
His game reading, and in game substitution right?

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Tinneh: 11:23am On Jan 08
Our players should beware of the trickery of North African oppositions and prepare to play against 12 men on Saturday,
We should avoid conceding unnecessary fouls, getting into provocations (Nwabali) to avoid getting cheap bookings..
Flashback 2021 afcon vs Tunisia when iwobi got a red card ultimately killing our comeback hopes..

Of course. You speak from the confines and limitations of your knowledge.
Ndidi , Onyeka and Onyedika are all DMs with Onyedika having some flair for Attack both at Clubsides and National team level. The intent is to dispossess the Algerian Midfield provided we use a 4-3-1-2 formation. We need one of Osimhen or Ademola come in later in the game as fresh energy not Moses Simon who may or will not offer much as per would be subs. Ejuke and Fisayo might also be needed later in the game.
Lookman/ Adams attack or an Adams/ Osimhen attack will suffice By the way check France 98 French team formation in the quarter finals and finals and tell me if it is much different from what I have opined.
Coachiiii, this your tactics no follow o

Enoughpull:
The full backs will suffer most as Algeria got tricky wingers.. Everyone has to be involved in defense that day..
That's my only area of concern, our game vs Algeria depends on which version of Osayi and Bruno decides to turn up..
Algeria has tricky and skillful wingers who can bait our fullbacks into conceding fouls in dangerous positions, I'm still optimistic we would outscore them at the end of 90 minutes by God's grace

Afcon has giving eric chelle enough time to impact his idea on the team,
The inclusion of three natural midfielders has made our game play more fluid,

I'm so happy for Raphel, been clamouring for him to be played all this while, and he took it with both hands when the opportunity presented itself..
For those of us familiar with his game, this comes as no suprise at all, we hope he's afforded more opportunities along the line.

The pressure from the opponent was from Hannibal. Just substitute one of lookman or akor for an extra midfielder and we good,
Moses simon and ejuke failed to help defensively...by the way Bruno had a massive game today

Bookmark this comment Doctor, our midfied will cost us again...Yes Iwobi gave two assists but something terrible is missing in his game and that's winning ball back and this always bringing a lot of loads on Ndidi
Our issue has always been midfield, I was surprised at chelle's reply to a journalist who asked him why our midfield has been overan in previous games, he said he doesn't feel that way ...
This would still cost us later in the tournament if not rectified

if ekong had come in and score own gown under that intesnse pressure una go still say why e bring ekong 😂 or the same ekong you all want to retire
The defence was holding its own quite alright before the sub, its common knowledge in football when it's close to PK shoot-outs coaches start making plans for that, you saw the congolese coach subbed out his goal keeper for a penalty specialist,
Meanwhile eric chelle kept our designated Taker on the bench, subbed out of one of best penalty taker, and brought in awaziem...
No way Bassey is taking the first pk if Ekong is on the pitch
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Tinneh: 11:39pm On Nov 16, 2025
Tolu was poor YES.... but subbing him OFF at that point in the game was a wrong decision, Tolu has a very good penalty record in his career, and could've easily been a better option than Bassey,
Also of what use was the awaziem substitution when you have your designated penalty taker (EKONG) on the bench....
To be honest chelle got his substitutions all wrong today, this was a game screaming for control and he left Onyedika on the bench all through 120, while we were being dominated
I'm so pissed off right now

Just like Boniface and Osimhen didn't work imo, i doubt Osimhen and Tolu will work. Its Akor and Osimhen that will work. Infact, Akor and Tolu will work more if no Osimhen. What do you think?
How many games did osimhen and boniface start together ?

Kudos to Eric Chelle for our performance yesterday, the inclusion of Chukwueze gave us an entirely different dynamic to our attacking game, Samu's positioning and cutting in from the Rw gave us an extra option in midfield and easily opened up the benin defence, Also the decision to introduce onyeka and switch to a 3 man midfield later on was decisive...
Moving on to the play offs, I hope Eric chelle finally sees the quality in Raphel Onyedika if he is fit enough, he is an improvement to the current Wilfred Ndidi
