Soludo 2025: Tinubu’s Anambra Stop Sparks Endorsement Buzz

The visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Anambra State marked a significant moment in the socio-political landscape of the Southeast.

In what could be described as a historic occasion, indigenes and residents alike came out in large numbers to welcome the President, while many others tuned in to national broadcasts to witness the event. Notably, the non-indigene population, particularly from the Southwest, also participated enthusiastically.

The event was visibly buoyed by the energy of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, whose excitement at hosting the Commander-in-Chief was palpable. Although certain organisational gaps were noted, they were overshadowed by the significance of the moment and the Governor's exuberant welcome. Political analysts have interpreted President Tinubu’s body language and warm gestures during the visit as a tacit endorsement of Governor Soludo’s second-term bid, even though no formal declaration was made.

As has been reiterated in political circles and discussions, opposition to Soludo’s re-election appears minimal, largely due to his visible achievements in infrastructure development across a significant part of the state, testimonies to which many, including myself, can personally attest. For instance, the ease of travel to my ancestral home in Oraifite via a newly constructed road speaks well about his performance. In this regard, Governor Soludo deserves commendation for his transformative governance. I have so much doubt that any contender will possibly upset this momentum in the near term.

However, as Soludo prepares for the next political cycle, he must adopt a more inclusive approach. He must remember that his mandate was granted by the people of Anambra, not by any individual political actor. No single person holds the power to either make or unmake his future - his legitimacy lies with the electorate. Therefore, fostering unity and building trust across all divides will be essential to consolidating public support.

Furthermore, the resilience of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in maintaining political continuity in Anambra deserves recognition. As the only party to have consistently governed the state over the years, APGA has earned its place as a unifying democratic force in the region.

Governor Soludo would also do well to refine his public communication strategy. Political leadership requires tact and measured rhetoric. Personal attacks, especially against fellow Anambrarians - regardless of their political affiliations - could prove counterproductive and erode his goodwill. Public perception matters greatly in Anambra, particularly when respected elders are publicly disparaged. Soludo must rise above petty disputes and focus on policy-driven engagement.

A final point of concern relates to the indiscriminate revocation of the Certificates of Occupancy (CoO) of commercial /private lands granted by the previous administration. While development requires space, Anambra’s landlocked geography presents legitimate constraints.
The administration must tread carefully, particularly in cases where the C of O have already been granted under previous governments. Ongoing legal disputes over such acquisitions highlight the need for caution. Developmental policies must be executed with a human face, advancing progress without compromising justice or fairness.

In conclusion, President Tinubu’s visit has reinforced key political currents in Anambra and positioned Governor Soludo advantageously. However, sustaining that momentum will depend on strategic communication, inclusive governance, and people-centred policy implementation.

The stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Isuikwuato Local Government Council chapter of Abia State, have affirmed that the party remains intact at the local level despite a few individuals defecting to the Labour Party (LP).

In a statement issued and jointly signed by Comrade Chukwudi Okoroafor (APGA Chairman, Isuikwuato L.G.A. Chapter) and comrade Loveday C. Nwagu (APGA Secretary, Isuikwuato L.G.A. Chapter), they respectfully stated that the party is committed to building and sustaining its growth to greater heights.

According to the statement, while there have been defections of some party members in Isuikwuato L.G.A. to the Labour Party, the APGA faithful in the area wish to make it clear to the public that the party remains strong and united.

The statement further emphasized that during a meeting held on Friday, 18th of April, involving L.G.A. executives, ward chairmen, ward secretaries, and other stakeholders, the commitment to the growth and advancement of the party was reaffirmed.

"The meeting, which had in attendance the Abia State Chairman of APGA, Amb. Sunday Onukwubiri, who was accompanied by the State Woman Leader, recorded full attendance from the L.G.A. executives, ward chairmen, and their secretaries.

During his opening remarks, the L.G.A. Deputy Chairman, Mr. Egbule Mbama, who chaired the meeting in the unavoidable absence of the L.G.A. Chairman, Comr. Chukwudi Okoroafor, assured party members that there is no need for discouragement, as the party is on the rise again and ready to take Abia State by storm.

One of the party stakeholders, Comrade. Obinna Abali, also encouraged APGA faithful in the Isuikwuato chapter not to relent in their quest to make the party great again.

There was strong encouragement from the State Chairman, Amb. Sunday Onukwubiri, who promised that APGA Isuikwuato L.G.A. will continue to receive all necessary support from the State Executive Committee.

IPOB's Lawyer Blasts Govts Over Unchecked Rampaging Fulani Herders





The lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has described the government's uncaring attitude toward addressing the menace of rampaging Fulani herdsmen across the country as both shameful and indicting.

Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a renowned human rights lawyer, stated in a press release on Tuesday that Nigerians are witnessing a grave national tragedy and crisis due to the unchecked bloodbath of innocent and defenceless citizens at the hands of some Fulani herders.

According to him, the daily killings across the country have become a tragic norm, and the government must stop paying lip service to the issue, emphasizing that human life is sacred.

He lamented that, in today's Nigeria, it appears the lives of cattle are valued more than those of human beings.

Ejiofor called on all levels of government to preserve the sanctity of life and immediately restore public confidence by securing communities and ensuring that the safety of citizens is treated not as a luxury but as a fundamental right.

The statement reads:

“Nigeria is witnessing a grave national tragedy — a relentless wave of violence unleashed by rampaging Fulani herdsmen from Plateau to Benue, from Uzo Uwani in Enugu State to parts of Delta State. The unchecked bloodbath of innocent, defenceless citizens — whose only crime is being aboriginal to their ancestral lands — has become a tragic, daily occurrence.

Each day, new casualty figures are reported by the media, reducing human lives to mere statistics, as though we were counting livestock. Behind those numbers are mothers, fathers, children, and breadwinners — fellow citizens whose lives have been brutally cut short by wicked, soulless killers. The most recent massacre in Plateau State reportedly claimed 52 lives just yesterday, though locals insist the real toll is even higher. Shockingly, these atrocities continue while the state sits in complicit silence, issuing hollow condemnations without any meaningful action.

Let it be made clear: HUMAN LIFE IS SACRED AND IRREPLACEABLE. Yet, in this country, it too often appears that the lives of cattle are valued more than those of human beings. This is a shameful indictment on our government and an affront to our shared humanity.

The time for rhetoric has passed. This is an urgent and unambiguous call for decisive, coordinated action by the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the governors of the affected states. These leaders swore an oath — backed by the Constitution — to protect the lives and property of citizens and to guarantee their security. It is a sacred duty, not a negotiable privilege.

The continuous slaughter of innocent Nigerians by marauding herdsmen, and the government’s inertia in the face of this carnage, is both condemnable and unacceptable. All security and law enforcement agencies must act decisively, without bias or hesitation. Communities must also awaken to the painful reality of the state’s failure and begin to lawfully safeguard themselves against this existential threat.

I must reiterate: LIFE IS PRECIOUS. Its sanctity must be preserved. Government at all levels must immediately restore public confidence, secure our communities, and ensure that the safety of the citizens is not a luxury but a right for all.

Enough must finally be enough — and must be seen to be so.”

Orutugu: The Criminal Nightmare in Anambra

On February 10th, 2025, CP Ikioye Orutugu assumed office as the 35th Commissioner of Police in Anambra State. He took charge during a period when the state was grappling with an alarming surge in violent crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism. Crime reports dominated the news, and no day passed without negative headlines coming from the State.

Before his appointment, Orutugu had served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Counter-Terrorism Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He was deployed to Anambra to address the escalating crime wave, especially the rise in kidnappings, robberies, and cult activities. With his extensive experience in counter-terrorism and specialized training in combat leadership, Orutugu was prepared for the challenge. His tactical strategies and leadership style quickly began to turn the tide in favor of law and order in the state.

Within just a few weeks of taking office, the Commissioner made significant strides in combating crime. His efforts led to the dismantling of criminal gangs and the expulsion of many underworld figures from the state. For those who remained, law enforcement acted swiftly and decisively, sending a clear message that crime would not be tolerated in the state.

In about two months, Anambra witnessed a dramatic reduction in incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult violence. Kidnappers' camps were located, destroyed, and burned, while the sound of gunfire that once reverberated throughout neighborhoods became a rare occurrence. The fear that had driven many residents to relocate to cities like Awka, Enugu, or even Lagos has gradually dissipated. Those who had fled their homes are now returning, marking a hopeful sign of stability in the state.

The people of Anambra, who had long lived in fear, are now beginning to feel a renewed sense of security. The state is seeing a resurgence of life, as people return for family events such as weddings and funerals, activities that were once abandoned due to safety concerns.

Orutugu, often referred to as "The Lion" in police circles, has proven himself worthy of the title. His leadership has shaken the criminal underworld, forcing many criminals to flee in panic. The residents of Anambra now enjoy greater peace of mind and freedom of movement, thanks to his unyielding commitment to restoring order.

Ndi Anambra are deeply grateful for the newfound tranquility in their state, and there is a growing belief that Orutugu's efforts will continue to ensure safety for all. It is a collective hope that he will sustain this momentum, continuing to combat crime effectively.

However, it is important for the citizens of Anambra to remain supportive of the police force's efforts by giving necessary information. By backing the police and Commissioner’s actions, the people of Anambra can ensure a future where they can go about their daily lives without the fear of criminal molestation.

With the "Lion" in charge, Anambra’s criminals have no place to hide.

12 Biafran Inmates Regain Freedom After Four Years

On Thursday, 12 out of 36 Biafrans who had been detained since May 24, 2021, were granted their freedom after four long years. This release followed a series of court orders that discharged and acquitted these individuals of all charges.

Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), described the release as historic.

He said that while justice may be delayed, it cannot be denied, asserting that freedom will ultimately prevail.

The statement reads:"History was made today, April 10, 2025, at the Ebonyi State High Court, as 12 Biafran inmates, part of a group of 36 held since May 24, 2021, were finally set free in compliance with successive court orders discharging and acquitting them of all charges. This victory comes after a formal application by the Ebonyi State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), who, recognizing the repeated judicial pronouncements, withdrew the latest charges against these 12 individuals. This marks a long-overdue respect for the rule of law and reaffirms their innocence, which the courts have consistently upheld.

In accordance with the court's directive, I personally oversaw the handover of the released individuals, an order which the prison authorities promptly complied with. Our legal team remains relentless and fully committed to securing the freedom of the remaining detainees—men who have also been discharged and acquitted by no fewer than four different High Courts in Ebonyi State.

Their release is no longer a matter of 'if,' but 'when.' That moment draws closer every day."

A petition has been submitted to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) DIG Hashimu Argungu by the mother of three Mrs. Joy-Smart Chinenye, who was allegedly subjected to abuse and unlawful detention by police officers.

Mrs. Chinenye’s arrest, in connection with a financial dispute involving her husband, Obinna George Smart Unegbu, has raised serious concerns regarding police misconduct and extortion.

The petition, filed by her lawyer, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, called for a thorough investigation into the unprofessional conduct of the officers involved. According to the petition, Mrs. Chinenye is described as a hardworking, responsible mother and wife who has dedicated herself to supporting her family.

The petition said that the arrest and detention of Mrs. Chinenye constitute serious violations of her rights, and urges both the IGP and the PSC Chairman to launch an extensive inquiry into the actions of the officers involved.

The petition further demands disciplinary action against the officers for their gross abuse of power, as well as the return of the N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) allegedly extorted from Mrs. Chinenye.

This, the petition argues, is essential for restoring public confidence in the Nigerian Police Force and ensuring that officers adhere to ethical standards.

"We are the solicitors for Mrs. Joy-Smart Chinenye (hereinafter referred to as 'Our Client') and are writing under her explicit instruction and mandate to petition for a thorough investigation into the unprofessional conduct of the officers mentioned. Despite occasional domestic disagreements, our client never imagined that her husband would resort to using police officers to subject her to inhumane treatment, abuse, bullying, and torture for no justifiable reason.

Our client has been married to Mr. Obinna George Smart Unegbu for over a decade, and they have three children. Although the couple faced initial struggles, they worked diligently to build one of the most successful private schools in the South-East. Their union has been one of perseverance and achievement.

However, this peaceful family life was disrupted on March 27, 2025, when a dispute arose regarding the delayed remittance of business funds by her husband. Mrs. Chinenye had set a deadline for the payment, which was agreed upon by her husband. On this day, a group of officers, including CSP [name], 2/C [name], and ASP [name], stormed their home in Lagos, demanding to speak with Mrs. Chinenye in the presence of her husband and children.

Upon learning of the officers’ presence, Mrs. Chinenye immediately descended to meet them. To her shock, the officers claimed to be from Area H Command Headquarters, Ikeja, acting on a petition filed by her husband. They refused to disclose the contents of the petition, but insisted on taking her into custody. Her husband, without any regard for her dignity, instructed the officers to handcuff her immediately.

The officers allowed Mrs. Chinenye to change into casual clothing, but upon her insistence, a female officer accompanied her to her room. Once she complied, the officers seized her phone and escorted her to Area H Command Headquarters in Ikeja, where they presented her with a petition from her husband regarding a financial transaction. Mrs. Chinenye explained that her husband also owed her money, but despite her detailed explanation, the officers subjected her to physical abuse, including slapping and torture, in an attempt to force her to settle the alleged debt.

Her husband stood by, observing the abuse, and even signaled his approval of the officers' actions. Desperate to return to her children, Mrs. Chinenye agreed to pay N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) of the alleged debt. The officers provided a bank account number, and Mrs. Chinenye made the payment. A copy of the transaction receipt is attached for reference.

Despite this, the officers demanded that she pay the remaining N10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira), threatening further detention if she did not comply. When she refused, the officers revealed that they were from the IGP Monitoring Unit, Abuja, and planned to transfer her to Abuja.

Mrs. Chinenye was detained overnight at the FCID Unit, Panti, Lagos, before being handcuffed and forcibly flown to Abuja. Upon arrival in Abuja, she was subjected to further abuse, threats, and bullying by the officers, who insisted that she pay the remaining debt. When she refused, she was transferred to the Abattoir-SARS detention facility, a notorious location known for housing criminals. Here, Mrs. Chinenye was forced to share a cell with dangerous criminals, who assaulted her. By divine intervention, she narrowly escaped further harm.

During her detention, Mrs. Chinenye was repeatedly taken to unknown locations and coerced into making additional payments. On one occasion, she was allowed to call her cousin in a desperate attempt to raise more funds to settle the debt. This relentless torment continued until her release was secured on March 30, 2025, with the assistance of the Police High Command. However, the physical and emotional toll remains.

Findings

The actions of the officers involved are clear violations of both ethical standards and the law. It is evident that they were enlisted by Mrs. Chinenye’s husband to engage in debt recovery, which is strictly prohibited by the Police. Our client was subjected to torture and mistreatment despite the fact that the matter at hand was a civil issue between a husband and wife.

The officers extorted N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) from our client, transferring the money into a suspicious account, not belonging to her husband. The coercion continued, with the officers demanding the balance of the debt. This situation has not only damaged a young family but also exposed private matters that could have been avoided had the officers adhered to their duties with professionalism.

In light of these serious violations, we respectfully request that the Chairman,Launch a comprehensive investigation into the unethical conduct of the officers involved,take appropriate disciplinary action against the officers for their abuse of power,recover and return the N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) extorted from our client and restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force by ensuring officers adhere to ethical standards.

We trust that your intervention will bring justice and uphold the integrity of the Force. We remain, Sir, with the highest regards."

Trader Demands Investigation into NAFDAC activities at Ogbo-Ogwu

A trader at Ogbo-Ogwu Bridge Head Market, Onitsha, has issued a Pre-Action Notice to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), demanding full accountability and fair compensation for the significant losses suffered by law-abiding trader, Ms. Okoye Sophia Eberechukwu.

The notice, issued by Ms. Eberechukwu’s lawyer, Sir Ifeanyi, calls for an investigation into the alleged looting of her goods, valued at millions of naira, by NAFDAC officials stationed at the market.



It stated that instead of carrying out their regulatory duties, these officials were looting the trader’s goods.

In a statement, Ms. Eberechukwu said that she had previously called for a thorough investigation and accountability regarding the actions of NAFDAC officials at the market.

The statement reads:

"On March 15, 2025, we brought to public attention the grave misconduct allegedly perpetrated by officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), stationed at Ogbo-Ogwu Bridge Head Market. These officials, rather than fulfilling their duty, reportedly looted the shop of Ms. Okoye Sophia Eberechukwu, stealing goods worth millions of naira — none of which were pharmaceutical products.

In response to this blatant act of impunity, and following our earlier demand for a thorough investigation and accountability, we have now escalated the matter legally. A Pre-Action Notice has been formally served on NAFDAC, accompanied by our demand for full accountability and fair compensation for the immense losses suffered by this law-abiding trader.

The arbitrary looting of a citizen’s business under the pretext of regulatory enforcement is an egregious abuse of power, a criminal act, and a violation of fundamental rights. While regulatory agencies have a duty to enforce compliance, such actions must strictly adhere to due process, fairness, and the rule of law. No government agency should be permitted to weaponize enforcement to inflict unwarranted hardship on innocent individuals.

We remain unwavering in our pursuit of justice for Ms. Eberechukwu. Those responsible for this unlawful and reprehensible act must face the full weight of the law. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done."

Upon arrival in Abuja, she was subjected to further abuse, threats, and bullying by the officers, who insisted that she pay the remaining debt. When she refused, she was transferred to the Abattoir-SARS detention facility, a notorious location known for housing criminals. Here, Mrs. Chinenye was forced to share a cell with dangerous criminals, who assaulted her. By divine intervention, she narrowly escaped further harm.

During her detention, Mrs. Chinenye was repeatedly taken to unknown locations and coerced into making additional payments. On one occasion, she was allowed to call her cousin in a desperate attempt to raise more funds to settle the debt. This relentless torment continued until her release was secured on March 30, 2025, with the assistance of the Police High Command. However, the physical and emotional toll remains.

Findings

The actions of the officers involved are clear violations of both ethical standards and the law. It is evident that they were enlisted by Mrs. Chinenye’s husband to engage in debt recovery, which is strictly prohibited by the Police. Our client was subjected to torture and mistreatment despite the fact that the matter at hand was a civil issue between a husband and wife.

The officers extorted N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) from our client, transferring the money into a suspicious account, not belonging to her husband. The coercion continued, with the officers demanding the balance of the debt. This situation has not only damaged a young family but also exposed private matters that could have been avoided had the officers adhered to their duties with professionalism.

A woman who was detained on Mother's Day at an Abuja police facility has expressed deep bitterness and pain over her mistreatment.

Mrs. Joy-Smart Chinenye revealed her agony after being arrested by the police at the request of her husband, a man she once loved and supported.

Mrs. Joy-Smart Chinenye shared her story in a statement issued on Monday, which was provided to our reporter.

"While mothers around the world were celebrating Mothering Sunday, my own husband—the man I once loved and supported—had me thrown into the Abattoir-SARS detention facility in Abuja, a notorious place known for holding criminals, kidnappers, and terrorists. This is the same man I met when he was just a classroom teacher. I stood by him, fed him, supported him financially, and watched as God elevated him to a multi-billionaire. But how did he repay me? By having me brutalized, arrested, and locked away in one of the most dreaded cells in the country," she said.

Mrs. Chinenye described the emotional pain of her betrayal, stating that despite her unwavering loyalty throughout their marriage, her husband had been unfaithful.

She revealed that he had been involved with both single and married women, exposing her to multiple infections in the process, yet, she endured the humiliation and betrayal in silence, attempting to protect their marriage from public scrutiny.

However, she said he continued to find ways to harm her.

She explained that her husband manipulated the police into arresting her over an alleged debt—an issue that should have been addressed through civil court, not police brutality.

On March 27, 2025, she recounted, officers stormed their home, forcibly taking her away in front of their children. She was then detained at the FCID Annex in Panti, Lagos, where she was tortured and coerced into transferring ₦5 million to an account they provided. When she was unable to meet his further demands, she was forcefully transported to Abuja, where she was again subjected to detention, abuse, and extortion at the notorious Abattoir facility.

"I was repeatedly taken from the SARS detention cell at night to unknown locations, where I endured intense coercion and intimidation. These harrowing experiences continued until the timely intervention of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor (I.C. Ejiofor Chambers), whose relentless legal efforts finally secured my release in the early hours of last night. But the scars—both physical and emotional—remain," she said.

Mrs. Chinenye emphasized that she could no longer stay silent.

"In due course, I will grant a press release and expose the full truth about Obinna George Smart Unaegbu. The world deserves to know the reality," she added.

IGP Urged to Probe Brutalization of Woman Over Debt to Husband on mothers Day

Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to thoroughly investigate the Monitoring Unit of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Headquarters in Abuja for the arrest, brutalization, torture, and detention of Mrs. Joy Smart Chinenye over an alleged unpaid debt to her husband.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Ejiofor emphasized that various statutory laws and judicial precedents have consistently affirmed that the Nigeria Police Force is not authorized to act as a debt recovery agency.

He expressed concern over the unlawful use of the police for debt recovery, even in defiance of clear directives from the IGP.

According to Ejiofor, Section 4 of the Nigeria Police Act explicitly outlines the duties of the NPF and makes no provision for debt recovery.

He further noted that superior courts have repeatedly ruled that the police cannot be used as a tool for resolving private financial disputes.

Ejiofor cited notable cases reinforcing his position, including Kure v. Commissioner of Police (2020) LPELR-49378 (SC) and Madaki & Anor v. GTB & Anor (2022) LPELR-57419 (CA).

Given the legal precedent, Ejiofor questioned how personnel from the Monitoring Unit of the NPF Headquarters could arrest, brutalize, torture, and detain Mrs. Joy Smart Chinenye based on a petition filed by her legally married husband, Mr. George Obinna Smart Unaegbu, over an alleged debt.

He expressed concern over the use of the police in such private financial matters, particularly in light of established legal principles.

Ejiofor also expressed dismay that, on a globally recognized day for celebrating motherhood, Mrs. Smart, a mother of three, was unjustly detained instead of celebrating Mothering Sunday like other women.

He outlined the details of the incident: On March 28, 2025, officers from the NPF Monitoring Unit, acting on a petition from her husband, arrested, brutalized, tortured, and detained her over an alleged unpaid debt. Her husband had allegedly given her funds for forex trading, which she was unable to repay. Instead of pursuing civil redress, her husband enlisted the police. Officers stormed their home in Lagos, arresting Mrs. Smart in front of their children and detaining her at the FCID Annex in Panti, Lagos. There, she was coerced into transferring ₦5 million to her husband's account. When she could not pay an additional ₦10 million, she was forcibly transported to Abuja and held at the notorious Abattoir detention facility, a known holding area for hardened criminals.

In a shocking turn of events, while Mrs. Smart was in detention, her husband relocated their children and took possession of her personal belongings.

Ejiofor further stated that the Nigeria Police Service Commission (NPSC), under the distinguished Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (RTD), and the Inspector General of Police, have issued clear directives prohibiting officers from engaging in land dispute complaints, proxy arrests, and debt recovery, among other matters. Despite these directives, officers involved in this case blatantly ignored the guidelines, prioritizing personal financial interests over their constitutional duties.

Ejiofor called for the immediate and unconditional release of Mrs. Joy Smart Chinenye and urged the IGP to initiate a thorough investigation into this gross abuse of power.

He further called for the officers involved to be sanctioned to prevent future misconduct.

While legal action is being considered, Ejiofor emphasized the importance of bringing this case to public attention to prevent further erosion of the rule of law. "The Nigeria Police Force must not be unscrupulously used as a tool for settling private disputes, especially on a day meant to honor mothers,"

This is particularly egregious, given that the highest echelons of the Police Authority have sternly warned and prohibited personnel from engaging in such disgraceful acts that tarnish the institution's reputation."he said.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Ejiofor condemned the senator’s behavior during a Senate Committee hearing, labeling it as unbefitting of his position.

According to Ejiofor, Nwebonyi's actions were akin to a display in a marketplace, a sentiment which was rightly observed by his colleagues.

He went on to describe the former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, as a widely respected figure, known for her commitment to due process.

“I watched with profound disappointment the now-viral footage of Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, engaging in a disgraceful display of verbal abuse and unruly conduct towards the esteemed former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili—widely respected as 'Madam Due Process'—during a Senate Committee hearing yesterday.

This deplorable behavior is not only shameful, but also indicative of a deeper moral decay, unchecked impunity, and a flagrant disregard for decorum and human dignity. No public official, particularly a senator entrusted with legislative duties, should ever demean the office they occupy with such conduct. In a society where accountability prevails, Senator Nwebonyi would already be facing serious disciplinary action, including suspension. How did we get to this point? I call on the leadership of the Senate to take swift and decisive action against this gross misconduct. Senator Nwebonyi’s evident prejudice against Natasha is so profound that he should be disqualified from participating in any inquiries, deliberations, or findings related to the subject, given his publicly expressed bias.

Such behavior, however, must never be tolerated or excused under any circumstance. Fortunately, a distinguished colleague rightly observed that they are in the Senate, not in the market. This is an appalling situation! Nwebonyi’s outburst not only deserves condemnation but has also successfully brought the reputation of the Senate into disrepute. If the Senate still retains any integrity, it is now at stake, and failure to address this transgression will set a dangerous precedent—further emboldening the erosion of civility and respect within the legislature.

In contrast, I commend Dr. Oby Ezekwesili for her dignified and exemplary composure in the face of this unwarranted attack. She once again demonstrated strength of character, intelligence, and poise, reaffirming her role as a model of leadership and statesmanship. Her ability to maintain grace under fire is a powerful lesson in decorum and resilience.

The Senate must rise to the occasion and confront this culture of impunity head-on. The Nigerian people deserve a legislature that upholds the core values of respect, integrity, and accountability.”

The Chairman of ASUU-ABSU, Comrade Chidi Slessor, Mba, Ph.D., stated that the scholarship awards were in fulfillment of the mandate of the National Executive Council of ASUU.

He further explained that the awards followed all the necessary guidelines as stipulated by ASUU National.

Mba said the process was overseen by a committee headed by Professor David Chikezie, a former ASUU-ABSU Chairperson.

He noted that the committee conducted the screening in accordance with ASUU National’s guidelines, leading to the selection of the two scholarship recipients.

In his address yesterday during the resettlement ceremony in Awka, Anambra state capital, the Director General of NDE, H.E Silas Agara said the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative had commenced with a flag-off ceremony on December 6, 2024, while training of selected beneficiaries started on December 9, 2024.
Agara, who was represented by the Anambra State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Chika Ufelle stated that, " Over the past 3 months the Directorate has successfully trained 33,692 unemployed Nigerian youths, women and Persons living with Disabilities in-demand skills.

" This skills get accross Vocational Skills training, Entrepreneurship and business management training, Agricultural Skills training and activities within the Public Works sector in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory,FTC.

" This initiative has also culminated into the launching of resettlement of the trained beneficiaries, the goal of which is to empower participants to become not only self-employed, but employers of labour. A total number of 5532 beneficiaries will be resettled with loans and starter packs nationwide, to enable the establishment of their own businesses."

In her own remarks, the NDE State Coordinator expressed gratitude to NDE management for giving this ample opportunity of soft loans to no fewer than 171 beneficiaries from Anambra state who have successfully completed the rigorous three- month training programme.

According to Mrs. Ufelle, " The resettlement loan package is not just an investment in their future but also a call to responsibility. I urge our beneficiaries to utilize this opportunity wisely and to work hard in building successful enterprises that will in turn, create jobs for others.

" I wish to extend my deep appreciation to the Director General of NDE, H.E Silas Ali Agara for his wisdom, ingenuity and relentless commitment to job creation and economic empowerment."

In his vote of thanks, Ifeanyi Afuleke, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the management of NDE for creating such initiatives that would soften the scourge of unemployment in the country.

Anambra, Enugu Police Launch Joint Border Patrol to Tackle Crime

In response to increasing criminal activities within the boundaries of Anambra and Enugu states, the two Police Commands have launched a joint interstate border patrol operation in the region.

This decision followed a series of reported cases involving kidnappers and gunmen engaged in interstate and transborder criminal activities, prompting the need for collaborative efforts between the states.

The two commissioners met at the Anambra Police Command in Awka on Monday and was attended by Deputy and Assistant Police Commissioners from both states.

The gathering resulted in far-reaching plans to strengthen security operations at major flashpoints in the area.

In a statement issued by the Anambra State Police Command's spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the meeting was in line with the enhanced policing guidelines of the Inspector-General of Police.

Ikenga stated that the Commissioners of Police from both states, CP Ikioye Orutugu of Anambra and CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa of Enugu, met to devise operational strategies aimed at proactively addressing security challenges in the two neighboring states.

According to Ikenga, the Commissioners identified the infiltration of criminals between the states as a major security issue that requires immediate attention to combat violent crimes and the activities of subversive criminal elements.

As a result, they pledged to collaborate by sharing intelligence and pooling operational resources to address violent crime at the borders and within their respective states.

Ikenga further stated that the Commissioners reiterated their commitment to decisively combat all forms of crime and criminality in both states, aiming to ensure maximum public security and safety.

He said,additionally, the Commissioners warned criminals operating in the two states to either repent or face the full force of the law.

IPOB Lawyer to Gov Mba: Stop Herdsmen Attacks in Enugu Now

The lawyer representing the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mba, to take decisive action regarding the invasion and attack on Ndiagu Amofia, Umuhu Autonomous Community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released on Friday, Ejiofor expressed deep concern over the persistent and unchecked attacks by armed herdsmen across the Southeast, particularly in Enugu and parts of Ebonyi, which have reached an alarming level. Despite repeated assaults on various communities, he said the government's response remains inadequate and passive.

Ejiofor referenced a recent investigative report by Sahara Reporters, which highlighted the horrifying reality of the situation: On February 28, 2025, armed herdsmen launched a deadly attack on Ndiagu Amofia, Umuhu Autonomous Community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State. Ejiofor described the attack as a "bloody invasion" that must not be tolerated.

He called on the Enugu State Government, under Governor Peter Mba, to act decisively.

"Every available security apparatus must be deployed to reclaim Ndiagu and restore peace.

"Will the government stand by until this entire community is annihilated? The time for half-measures and delayed responses is over—bold, immediate action is required"he said

The human rights lawyer also stated that displaced residents must be assured of their safety and given the means to return to their ancestral homes without fear of further attacks.

He added that no citizen should be left at the mercy of ruthless killers while those in power look the other way.

"It is deeply concerning that these recurring mass slaughters and displacements of innocent citizens continue largely unchallenged. The silence and inaction of the government in the face of these atrocities is unacceptable. Paying lip service while people suffer and die is a betrayal of leadership," he said.

Ejiofor also stressed that the primary duty of any government is to protect the lives and property of its citizens.

"Yet, today, Ndiagu lies in ruins, its people made refugees in their own land. This failure to provide adequate security for the citizens against these murderous herdsmen is glaring and indefensible" he added.

He concluded by calling on the governor for immediate action to save the lives of the community .

"Now is the time for action. The bloodshed must end. Enough is enough."he added

IPOB Lawyer Condemns Rivers Emergency Rule: Assault on Democracy



Human rights lawyer and lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, describing it as a gross violation of the Nigerian Constitution.

Ejiofor, in a statement issued on Wednesday, stated that the President’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State was unconstitutional and an overreach of executive power. According to him, the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the entire Rivers State House of Assembly was not only an outright attack on constitutional democracy but also a blatant deviation from the legal provisions governing emergency declarations.

He pointed out that the Constitution specifies the conditions under which a state of emergency may be declared, and none of these conditions exist in Rivers State.

The human rights lawyer called on both the Legislature and the Judiciary to take decisive action in defence of democracy. He urged the National Assembly to reject the illegal declaration and reassert its constitutional authority.

Ejiofor further stated that if the legislature fails in its duty, the Judiciary, as Nigeria's last hope for justice, must step in to uphold the rule of law and safeguard the nation’s democratic integrity.

The statement reads:

"The ongoing political struggle for control over Rivers State and its vast resources reached a critical and alarming point yesterday with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's proclamation of a state of emergency. While many Nigerians expressed shock at this drastic move, it comes as no surprise to those of us who have closely followed the unfolding power dynamics. This action appears to be a calculated political maneuver designed to appease a powerful political godfather, rather than a genuine response to any constitutional crisis.

For those well-versed in Nigeria’s constitutional framework, this development was a foreseeable outcome—an undemocratic last resort. A proper interpretation of Section 305 (3)(a-g) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) clearly exposes the political motivation behind this decision. Rivers State does not meet any of the stipulated conditions required to justify such an extreme measure.

The suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his Deputy, and the entire Rivers State House of Assembly is not only an outright attack on constitutional democracy but also a blatant deviation from the legal provisions governing emergency declarations. In simple terms, this is nothing short of a coup against democratic institutions. Sadly, the National Assembly, which should serve as a check on executive overreach, has become the weakest and most compromised legislative body in Nigeria’s democratic history.

In my previous live broadcast, I emphasized that President Tinubu’s invocation of Section 305 was a fundamental error and an abuse of executive power. The Constitution outlines specific conditions under which a state of emergency may be declared, including: (a) the Federation is at war; (b) the Federation is in imminent danger of invasion or involvement in a state of war; (c) there is an actual breakdown of public order and public safety in the Federation or any part thereof to such an extent as to require extraordinary measures to restore peace and security; (d) there is a clear and present danger of an actual breakdown of public order and public safety in the Federation or any part thereof requiring extraordinary measures to avert such danger; (e) there is an occurrence or imminent danger, or the occurrence of any disaster or natural calamity, affecting the community or a section of the community in the Federation; (f) there is any other public danger which clearly constitutes a threat to the existence of the Federation; or (g) the President receives a request to do so in accordance with the provisions of subsection (4) of this section.

None of these conditions exist in Rivers State. There is no war, no large-scale unrest, and no imminent security threat warranting such drastic action. Therefore, the President’s decision is unconstitutional and an overreach of executive power.

It is now incumbent upon both the Legislature and the Judiciary to act decisively in defense of democracy. The National Assembly must reject this illegal declaration and reassert its constitutional authority. If it fails in its duty, the Judiciary—Nigeria’s last hope for justice—must step in to uphold the rule of law and safeguard the nation’s democratic integrity.

I commend the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) under the leadership of Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, for its prompt intervention. This is a defining moment for Nigeria’s democracy. We must not allow constitutional violations to stand unchecked. The world is watching, and the credibility of our institutions is on the line.

Let wisdom, justice, and the rule of law prevail."

Human Rights Lawyer Slams NAFDAC's Alleged Raid on Onitsha Traders



Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has condemned the trending video showing staff of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) allegedly looting people's shops at the Onitsha Igbougwu market in Anambra State.

In a statement on Saturday, Sir Ejiofor called on the government to investigate the matter urgently and ensure that victims receive justice.

According to Ejiofor, he was deeply saddened while watching a female trader allege that NAFDAC officials looted her goods.

"I am deeply saddened by the viral video showing a female trader alleging that her shop was looted by officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). This alarming footage exposes a grave injustice that demands urgent action," he said.

Ejiofor further stated that he had recently condemned the indiscriminate closure of shops under the guise of combating counterfeit drugs in Igbougwu, Onitsha. He added that in his recent statement, he emphasized that while the fight against fake pharmaceuticals is crucial, it must be carried out through lawful and ethical means that do not jeopardize the livelihoods of innocent traders. "Unfortunately, our worst fears have now materialized."he added.

In his previous public statement, he urged security agencies and NAFDAC to investigate their personnel implicated in these allegations.

"However, despite the gravity of the situation, no action has been taken.

This latest evidence—captured on video—clearly exposes officials entrusted with regulatory enforcement, allegedly engaging in outright looting, betraying public trust.

The heart-wrenching testimony of this devastated trader is both troubling and unacceptable.

Disturbingly, information available to us confirms that this innocent woman is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital after suffering severe shock from this traumatic incident.

This is not just an economic assault but a direct attack on her dignity and well-being.

"I therefore call upon the relevant security agencies to conduct a swift, transparent, and comprehensive investigation to identify and hold accountable those responsible for this reprehensible act. NAFDAC must urgently assess and provide commensurate reparations for this devastating loss, ensuring that justice is not only served but also felt by the victims. Justice delayed is justice denied. Immediate disciplinary and legal measures must be enforced to restore public confidence in our institutions.

Such misconduct has no place in a society striving for justice, peace, and economic stability.

The livelihoods of hardworking citizens must be protected, and those who abuse their positions of trust must face the full weight of the law. If we fail to act decisively, we risk enabling a culture of impunity that will only deepen public distrust in our institutions," the statement stated.

Human Rights Lawyer Slams Anambra Govt Over Unlawful Detentions Of Citizens

Human rights lawyer and counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq. (KSC), has described as unlawful for the Anambra State government to detain citizens for five weeks without charging them to court.

Ejiofor, in a statement on Friday, stated that the arbitrary arrest and detention of individuals in a private facility controlled by the state government constitutes a violation of their human rights.

As a human rights activist, Ejiofor explained that he is compelled by his conscience to speak out whenever the rule of law is trampled upon.

He emphasized that it is his unwavering duty to hold those in power accountable and demand adherence to due process in governance.

"Tomorrow, March 15, 2025, marks five full weeks since several citizens of Anambra State were arbitrarily arrested and detained in a private facility controlled by the state government. Shockingly, they have not been charged with any offense or brought before any court of law. This is a flagrant violation of their fundamental rights.

More disturbing is the fact that these individuals were not placed under the custody of the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), or even the military for investigation. Instead, they have remained unlawfully detained without any formal explanation from the state government. Regrettably, some misguided individuals are applauding this clear infraction of the law.

For five weeks, the Anambra State Government has failed to provide any official briefing or statement to the public on the status of these detainees. This lack of transparency is unacceptable. We are often quick to criticize the Federal Government or its agencies for abuse of power, including enforced disappearances and illegal detentions. Yet, here we are, witnessing similar acts at the state level," he said.

According to him, security is a collective responsibility, and he will always champion active citizen participation in combating insecurity by providing credible intelligence to security agencies.

The statement partly reads:"It is on record that I was among the fearless voices that condemned the heinous activities of criminals masquerading as agitators when they were wreaking havoc and unleashing terror on our people. At the height of these atrocities, I publicly urged Governor Soludo to deploy all legal means to decisively tackle these elements. I emphasized that they were not genuine agitators but criminals who should be treated as such.

At that time, many who now attack those speaking the truth were too weak and afraid to voice their opinions. I, on the other hand, put my life, my family, and my staff at risk by standing against these criminals. I am fully aware that intelligence reports indicated several plots to eliminate me, yet I remained steadfast, trusting in God’s protection.

That being said, I want to make my position crystal clear: I, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, will never support anyone proven to be aiding or abetting criminal activities in our land. If there is verifiable evidence implicating or linking any individual to the commission of any crime, the law must take its course.

I have previously commended the Anambra State Government’s Agụnechemba security outfit for its efforts in restoring order. The security outfit has done well in restoring some level of security in the state, and the Soludo administration deserves credit for its achievements. However, I have always stressed the need for professionalism and adherence to rules of engagement by security agents, to minimize casualties and avoid unnecessary errors.

For those misconstruing my stance, let me make it clear: I am not attacking the state government. I have consistently spoken out against infractions by the Federal Government and its agencies, and I will not hesitate to do the same when our own state government errs. Political affiliations or fear of the unknown should not prevent us from speaking truth to power. I admire Governor Soludo’s vision and commend his efforts, but respect for the rule of law must remain non-negotiable.

Anambra is a civilized state, and we must lead by example. When citizens are arrested for any alleged offense, they must be handed over to the appropriate security agencies, investigated, and, if necessary, charged to court within the legally stipulated timeframe when a prima facie case is established.

If, however, these detainees are not under investigation but are undergoing rehabilitation, the state government has an obligation to inform the public. If no incriminating evidence has been found against them, they must be released immediately and unconditionally.

We must collectively support and promote policies that enhance the well-being of our people while ensuring that governance remains anchored on justice, fairness, and the rule of law," he added.

TJ&GP Urges Anambra to Use Tax Money to Improve Market Facilities

The Tax Justice and Governance Platform in Anambra State has urged the state government to prioritize providing social amenities to markets in the state to encourage tax payment.

The group stated that its findings indicate that most market traders are unwilling to pay taxes because the government has not provided adequate facilities in their markets.

This appeal was made during a visit to the Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Chiamaka Nnake, as part of the Tax for Service Project, implemented in partnership with the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and supported by funding from Oxfam Nigeria.

A member of the Tax Justice and Governance Platform, Alfred Ajayi, said that there are about 180 markets in Anambra State, and their findings in about 21 markets show they lack amenities such as drainage systems, fire services, modern toilets, CCTV cameras, solar lighting, and roads within the markets.

He explained that these deficiencies are some of the reasons traders find it difficult to pay taxes.

He also called for a tax awareness campaign to educate market traders on the importance of tax payment.

He said, “At Eke-Awka market in Awka, traders are yearning for fire trucks, solar lights, and boreholes. At the Electrical Parts Market, Obosi, they need fire trucks, boreholes, and modern toilet facilities. The International Building Materials Market, Ogidi, requires fire trucks, solar lights, CCTV, and VIP toilets.

“In Anambra North, Onitsha Main Market needs solar lights, modern toilet facilities, CCTV, and better roads both within and around the market. Ogbaru Relief Market is in need of a borehole, fire truck, concrete floors, and better roads within the market.

“In Anambra South, the Building Materials Market in Nnewi requires modern toilet facilities, a borehole, and solar lights. Ekwulobia is asking for a security van, solar lights, a borehole, and better roads within and around the new market. We believe that if the government pays closer attention to these markets, where a substantial portion of its revenue is generated, traders will be motivated to pay more, thus saving the government the huge amount spent on enforcement."

Ugochi Ehiahuruike, the Executive Director of the Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC), host of TJ&GP, recalled the team's contribution to the state’s IGR (Internally Generated Revenue) efforts.

“Before the inception of this project, the state’s total IGR was around 3.3 billion naira. However, after a while, it was able to generate 4.6 billion naira. Our awareness creation efforts contributed to that,”

“We will achieve our expected goal when more people pay their taxes. A major way to accomplish this is by investing part of the money generated from traders back into those markets. Traders have numerous needs that they look up to the government to address.

“Additionally, we discovered that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry needs a higher budgetary allocation and more timely releases to respond to these needs. In our report, we recommend that the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS) sustain its engagement with citizens on tax reforms and innovations. They need to know what taxes they should pay, where to pay, and how to pay.

“We also recognize that your ministry is crucial in this process. If some of these needs are to be budgeted for, it can be achieved through your ministry,” she added.

In response, the Commissioner advised members of the Tax Justice and Governance Platform to extend their Tax for Service campaign to local government chairmen for optimal success.

She noted that local governments, by virtue of their financial autonomy, collect some revenues in the form of fees and levies, for which they must also be held accountable.

“I know that local government chairmen, officials of AiRS, and others have been meeting this year to agree on how to streamline the process to avoid multiple taxation, a concern citizens have raised. It would be beneficial for you to also interact with them so everyone appreciates the need to use the money generated for the common good. I hope this will lead to a roundtable meeting to brainstorm on this important matter,” she said.

Nnake described the project as complementary to the government’s efforts to increase locally generated revenue.

“The state appreciates your campaign, and we will review the report. However, I must reiterate that tax payment is an obligation under the law. When citizens fulfill that obligation, they can boldly ask their government for services and hold the government accountable for its duties.

“I know that those markets have needs, and we will look into them. The government is also providing other public goods across the state. The advocacy is for everyone to do their part, and the government will then be committed to fulfilling its responsibilities.

“People don't pay taxes for two main reasons: low awareness and trust issues. Many people believe that only those with money pay taxes. Additionally, there is concern about whether the money they pay will be used for their benefit.

“Fortunately, this government has shown how their money is working for them. The funds we use come from both the federal allocation and internal revenue. This shows that the significant investments across the state are a result of prudent management of limited resources,” Nnake added.

The Group Managing Director (GMD) of Akpoazaa Group, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, has endowed a N500,000 prize for the best graduating students at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State.

The N500,000 prize will be distributed across three categories: the overall best graduating student of the university, the best graduating student from the Faculty of Management Sciences, and the best graduating student in the Department of Accountancy. Specifically, N250,000 will be awarded to the overall best graduating student, N150,000 to the best graduating student from the Faculty of Management Sciences, and N100,000 to the best graduating student in the Department of Accountancy.

Infrastructure Development: Chukwuma promises to prioritize the upgrading of infrastructure, particularly roads, healthcare facilities, and schools, which would improve the quality of life for Anambra's residents.

Economic Growth and Job Creation: He also plans to focus on fostering a vibrant economy by attracting investments, supporting local businesses, and promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). His efforts target promoting agriculture, a key sector in Anambra, which will create job opportunities for the youth.

Education and Skill Development: By enhancing the education system and improving access to quality education, Paul Chukwuma aims to focus on both primary and tertiary education to ensure a skilled workforce. Vocational training programs will also be emphasized to equip young people with practical skills for employment.

Security and Law Enforcement: He also promises to address the security situation through modern policing, community engagement, and creating employment opportunities to reduce youth restiveness. These efforts are vital for creating a stable environment conducive to development.

Healthcare System Overhaul: Chukwuma is committed to improving healthcare infrastructure and making healthcare services more accessible and affordable. Expanding rural healthcare services will be essential to reach more people.

Good Governance and Transparency: Chukwuma emphasized that he will focus on creating an inclusive government, promoting transparency in public spending, and fighting corruption to ensure that resources are properly managed for the benefit of all.

Environmental Sustainability: As Anambra State is prone to environmental challenges such as flooding, Chukwuma's strategic plan will focus on protecting natural resources, managing waste, and mitigating environmental hazards to improve the state’s resilience.

He stated that these areas of focus would contribute to his goal of salvaging and uplifting Anambra State, ensuring prosperity, peace, and sustainable development.

With this lofty vision, the APC faces the serious task of electing a credible, marketable candidate who resonates with the people of Anambra State. Despite the presence of opportunists who have joined the party to create division and, after successfully destabilizing the APC, will leave for another political party, Chukwuma stands firm.

He is a committed and loyal party member who has stood with the APC when others were abandoning it. His dedication to the party was highlighted by the National Women Leader and co-aspirants when the National Chairman visited Anambra State a few weeks ago. The APC needs to reward loyal members rather than prioritizing displays of wealth to influence votes during the primaries.

Anambra Governance: Soludo and Team Have Lost Focus

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." The evidence of this notion, attributed to 19th-century writer Lord Acton, is clearly visible in the Anambra Government House in Awka, where Governor Charles Soludo has transformed himself into "Eze Onye Agwanam" (nobody must advise me).

When Governor Charles Soludo assumed office three years ago, expectations were high that things would work out well for Anambra State. With his promises to turn Anambra into the Dubai/Taiwan of Africa, no one would have imagined that anyone in the state would, for any reason, regret having the professor at the helm of affairs.

One of the issues that the governor must be ashamed of, and must regret engaging in, is his constant confrontation with the Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Fr. Ebube Muonso).

Fr. Ebube Muonso offered candid advice to Charles Nwa Mgbafor, and instead of the advice motivating the governor to sit up and readjust, he reacted angrily—going uncontrollably wild, to the extent that he is now spending Anambra State money, running into hundreds of millions of naira, to engage e-rats. One of these individuals, "Rev. Fr. Eustace Onyeneke," is reportedly paid heavily to write against Fr. Ebube Muonso as someone whose voice will carry weight.

Others benefitting from the humongous budget running into hundreds of millions for the "Operation Condemn Ebube Muonso" include Law Mefor, Izuchukwu Adichie, Chinedu Obigwe, Machi Pious Igwe, Mazi Opara, and others.

Fr. Ebube Muonso's "Sins"

The "sin" of Fr. Ebube Muonso that made Soludo go out of his way to make big promises to anyone who writes anything evil about the Catholic priest is that he speaks truth to people in power.

Soludo is not the only person in power that Fr. Ebube Muonso has confronted and rebuked for one reason or another. The priest is not known for rebuking authority when power is handled well. It is only Soludo who has decided to beat the drum of war among all those whom Fr. Ebube Muonso has rebuked.

Specifically, on January 1, 2025, Fr. Ebube Muonso, considering the alarming rate of insecurity in Anambra, called on Soludo, as the Chief Security Officer, to step up action against insecurity, or rather resign if he was overwhelmed.

This assertion was the initial straw that broke the camel's back! Before Ebube Muonso's advice, no day passed without one horrific news item or another in Anambra—whether it was murder, kidnapping, ritual killings, or cult violence. Under Soludo, Anambra was always on the headlines of national media platforms because of insecurity. In response to this, Ebube Muonso spoke, and a media attack was launched against him as a way of silencing him. Yet, he continued to speak until Soludo succumbed to pressure and formed "Operation Udo Ga-Achi," a crime-fighting security outfit.

When individuals linked to the killing of Anambra lawmaker Justice Azuka were arrested, justice was not served on them before news came that they escaped from police custody, still in handcuffs. The story was incredible, and nobody spoke. So, Fr. Ebube Muonso spoke again—requesting Soludo, as Chief Security Officer, to give an account. Again, Soludo became distracted. Instead of engaging and confronting the police to find the escaped murderers, the governor rather rejigged his media workers, pumping more money into attacking Fr. Ebube Muonso.

Why Fr. Ebube Muonso Cannot Be Cowed

A society whose leaders have no person or persons to advise them constructively is a destroyed society. Soludo, no doubt, wants to lead a destroyed Anambra State. Traditional rulers, who are the custodians and fathers of the people, are looked upon to offer constructive advice to people in political power such as Governor Soludo. Regrettably, the monarchs have been cowed to such an extent that they fear even uttering a word, as it could result in the withdrawal of their certificates the next day.

Since its inception, Anambra monarchs had a tradition of electing their leadership themselves; however, Soludo has decided that he will handpick whoever will be the chairman of the traditional rulers' council. In recent times, the governor withdrew certificates from some traditional rulers who conferred titles on people without his permission. Some monarchs were sacked, and new ones installed in communities in Anambra. Why should such people be expected to complain against political leadership?

Other citizens empowered by law to act as watchdogs are members of the state assembly. Regrettably, they hardly perform this function in Anambra State. Some are sympathetic to the governor due to their party affiliation, while others are afraid because it is the governor who gives them money, and they lack financial autonomy. Some of them, particularly those in leadership positions in the state assembly, reportedly signed undertakings that have caged them both directly and indirectly.

Many church leaders, who should speak out over societal ills, are no longer interested in correcting the ills of society. Should Fr. Ebube Muonso also keep quiet?

Biblical Perspective on Fr. Ebube Muonso's Confrontation of Persons in Authority

Though some individuals working to protect the interests of Governor Soludo because of financial incentives have provided their interpretations of the priest's approaches, their perspectives are driven by the flesh, not by scripture.

A priest has the responsibility to pray for people in positions of authority, as Fr. Ebube Muonso does in accordance with scripture. However, priests and prophets must confront those in power when they take things for granted.

In the Bible, many prophets and individuals confronted and criticized those in positions of authority. Jesus Christ confronted the Scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy; John the Baptist rebuked King Herod for living with his brother's wife. In the Old Testament, Shemaiah confronted King Rehoboam and the House of Judah, Jeremiah rebuked Israel for turning their backs on God, Micah criticized corrupt leaders, Amos rebuked the sins of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and announced God's punishment on them, Samuel rebuked King Saul for unlawfully offering a sacrifice, and Elijah confronted Ahab for his injustice and foretold his downfall.

No doubt, prophets often interpret their culture and historical moments from the perspective of the Divine, and their acts of interpretation often lead to social criticism.

I offer these perspectives for the likes of "Rev. Fr. Eustace Onyeneke" and Machi Pious Igwe, who claim to be Bible scholars but limit their knowledge to what Ebube Muonso must not say to Soludo.

Why Soludo Must Listen to Fr. Ebube Muonso's Advice

One fundamental problem Governor Soludo has as a person is pride and arrogance. He displays these traits wherever he goes. But the only thing that can save him is to listen to constructive criticism and also call his subordinates to order.

There is nothing wrong with Fr. Ebube Muonso telling Soludo to work harder in the area of security. Fr. Ebube Muonso has not told Soludo to pay salaries, fix roads, or promote education in the state, because the governor is doing all these. The security situation in Anambra State is dire, and concerned authorities must work hard or relinquish their offices. That is what the priest is saying—and that is the truth. There's nothing wrong with the priest telling the governor to resign if he is overwhelmed; after all, there are many world leaders more powerful than Soludo who resigned from power. For instance, on March 12, 2024, Ariel Henry, Acting President and Prime Minister of Haiti, resigned in the midst of a major security crisis in the country. Similarly, in 2024, Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, resigned following violent protests. These are just a few examples of world leaders who resigned in 2024 alone because of insecurity in their countries. Yet, Soludo not only clung to power amid the security crisis in Anambra, but also waged a media war against a Catholic priest who told him to sit up. That’s the all-knowing professor for you.

Why Soludo Must Call His Errand Boys to Order

History has proven that workers, friends, and associates of many leaders became the proverbial banana peels that ultimately led to their downfall. Governor Soludo has carefully selected the most inappropriate media aides in the history of Anambra State. They are not only inexperienced in their jobs but also pose a major relationship threat to the governor.

There are priests, politicians, and others who have criticized certain policies and programs of the governor, but instead of Soludo's aides highlighting the governor’s achievements and addressing the criticisms to silence the opposition, they launch media attacks—spending endless time and resources fighting. I cannot blame the likes of Izuchukwu Adichie and Mazi Ejiomofor Opara, who have moved from Andy Uba to Chris Azubogu, to Ifeanyi Ubah, to Willie Obiano, and now to Chukwuma Soludo. These young men have spent many years jumping from pillar to pole without caring to learn the basic tenets of their jobs. What they know is how to write "Ebube Muonso, Achikota Ekwe Onu," or "Ebube Muonso, liar," and so on. Is that how they intend to occupy office and consume Anambra people's money?

For Law Mefor, the elderly man must respect his age and academic qualifications by doing the right thing at any point in time. If his work as Information Commissioner is to abuse a Catholic priest who tells Soludo to sit up, it suggests that the separatist agitators' nzogbu nzogbu disposition still runs in his blood. He must purge himself to move forward.

Chinedu Obigwe, the self-styled Evangelist and media warrior, need not be dignified with a response, as he is not regarded as someone with a sane mind in Ogbaru, where he comes from.

One can only pity "Fr. Eustace Onyeneke" (if he is truly a priest) and Machi Pious Igwe, who also claims to be a Bible scholar, as they have presented themselves as commodities for sale.

There is no need to beg Soludo to either remove these characters or call them to order—the choice is his. It is already clear that they have become banana peels that will ultimately pull the governor down.

The reason for God's judgment on Eli is outlined in 1 Samuel 2:27-29, where a prophet tells Eli that he is going to be judged for the sins of his sons, because Eli did not do enough to stop them from doing evil. In 1 Samuel 2:29, God states that Eli honored his children more than he honored Him. It was for this reason that Eli was judged and ultimately destroyed.

If Soludo does not understand what the scripture says about reverence and relationship with prophets and priests, he should read Psalm 105:15 and 1 Chronicles 16:22. If the governor turns a deaf ear to the abuses his "small boys" heap upon Fr. Ebube Muonso, it means the judgment that came upon Eli will come upon him as well.

I read an article authored by one of the characters writing for the governor. In the article, the individual attacked Fr. Ebube Muonso for allegedly invoking the spirit of death upon one of the governor’s aides who repeatedly abused the priest. The writer was mocking what the charismatic priest said in a moment of anger. To him, such a curse was a joke.

According to the Bible in 2 Kings 2:23-25, Prophet Elisha cursed a group of children who mocked him, and as a result, two bears came out of the woods and attacked them—killing 42 of them. Essentially, the animals were used as a means of punishment for the children's disrespectful behavior toward the prophet. No one prays for anyone's death—fools bring death upon themselves.

Refuting Obigwe’s Claim that Soludo Gave Fr. Ebube Muonso a N100M Cheque

One is not entirely doubting the fact that His Excellency, Governor Charles Soludo, gave such money to Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, aka Fr. Ebube Muonso. But for what purpose? Obigwe himself gave the answer succinctly: he said it was to support road projects in Nkwelle Ezunaka, Ebube Muonso's community.

As a son who is always willing to give back to society, Fr. Ebube Muonso has singlehandedly constructed and reconstructed many roads, including in his hometown, using his personal money. If Soludo, out of gratitude and joy, decided to support the road projects, there is nothing wrong with that. He did not give Ebube Muonso money to buy food.

Haters have been maligning the priest for being wealthy. To me, that is not something people should complain about. Ebube Muonso is a product of Divine grace and favor. He is "possessed" by the grace of Divine multiplication.

One of Soludo’s writers hinted at the source of Ebube Muonso’s wealth. In fact, one Machi Pious Igwe, in his article, tried to draw comparisons between Fr. Ebube Muonso, Okite practitioners, fake pastors, and dibias, attempting to paint an ill picture of the priest, as though telling Soludo that Fr. Ebube Muonso should be arrested to explain the source of his wealth. I laughed! When the nza bird eats to the full, it wages war against its personal god.

Fr. Ebube Muonso, born in 1980 in Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, is the last born in a family of eight boys.

Having been blessed financially by God through the ministry, he singlehandedly built the multi-billion Naira Adoration Ground in Uke, Anambra State, where souls are won for Christ, and where those tormented by evil spirits are set free.

As a pioneer priest, he built Blessed Iwene Tansi Parish and Pilgrimage Center in just one year and a few months. He also built the multi-billion Naira Divine Rays British School in Obosi, and another multi-billion Naira St. John Vianney Science College in Igbariam, Anambra State. He established the Parraclet Table Water in Umuoji, among other ventures. In all these establishments, the priest employed thousands of people, helping to put food on their tables and aiding the state government in reducing both unemployment and crime rates.

As of the last count, Fr. Ebube Muonso has provided scholarships to 3,403 people across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions. In fact, about 47% of students in his schools enjoy free education, including indigent and highly intelligent individuals.

Don’t Expect Fr. Ebube Muonso to Stop Attacking Erring Leaders

It is clear that Fr. Ebube Muonso will not stop challenging erring leaders until they amend their ways. No amount of intimidation or blackmail can deter him. The leadership of the Mother Church knows he is bold in telling the truth, and they will not stop him. Therefore, political leaders in this space should either do the right thing or learn to tolerate the priest!

Soludo often says, "If you see something, say something," but unfortunately, when Ebube Muonso sees and says that something is wrong in the state, this same governor attacks him. That is not the behavior of a good leader.

Akpoazaa CEO Marks 40th Birthday with Educational Pledge

Glamour filled the air as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akpoazaa Group, Dr. Frank Odinaka Igbojindu, celebrated his 40th birthday amidst fun and wine-clinking in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.

He commemorated his milestone, reflecting on his achievements, including significant milestones in his business over the last decade. Additionally, he celebrated earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accountancy from the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, last year.

Turning 40, he noted, is a significant moment in anyone’s life. For him, it represents a deeper meaning—a reminder of where he came from, the challenges he faced, and the grace that has brought him this far.

He shared that growing up in his village at Okija, a town in the Ihiala local government area of Anambra State, was not easy.
“Nothing was handed to me on a silver platter, and the environment was very adverse. I was raised in an environment where survival was a daily battle, and dreams seemed far-fetched,” he said.
However, through hard work and the grace of God, he refused to let these circumstances define his future.

During the celebration, he emphasized his Akpoazaa Foundation’s commitment to empowering the younger generation through education and skill acquisition in Anambra State and Nigeria.




Dr. Igbojindu expressed gratitude for the mercy of God that enabled him to reach 40 years, earn a PhD, and witness the foundation’s positive influence over the last ten years.

Since its inception, the foundation has organized the Best Brain Quiz Contest for over 3,000 students and provided scholarships to more than 100 students, ranging from primary to university level. Dr. Igbojindu also revealed that the foundation is partnering with De Imperial Philanthropic Family to help lift over 1,000 indigent students out of poverty by providing quality education up to the university level.

He emphasized that the greatest gift one can offer the younger generation to improve their lives is sound education. "Education is the best way to store wealth, and I am dedicated to offering scholarships while encouraging affluent individuals to invest in the education of younger people,” he said.

He urged everyone to prioritize education as the key to securing wealth and reducing youth restiveness in society. “Support for education is support for a better future. Support for education is support for an ideal life,” he added.

Dr. Igbojindu further stated that investing in education is an indirect way of preserving wealth for the future, countering the misconception that education is a scam. He believes that good education can solve half of both personal and societal challenges, ultimately fostering national development.

“At Akpoazaa Foundation, we strongly believe that education is the ticket to a better future in Nigeria. This is why we are working to correct the narrative that ‘education is a scam.’ We are investing in education and vocational training for indigent individuals in Anambra and the entire Southeast so that our youth can become educated, self-reliant, and contribute meaningfully to society,” he stated.

To mark his 40th birthday, Dr. Igbojindu announced that the foundation will introduce the Akpoazaa Media Factory, aimed at empowering 1,000 youths with essential skills to address critical gaps in the media industry.

He also revealed that the foundation will pay the school fees, JAMB fees, and WAEC fees for 1,000 indigent students.

According to him, the foundation will also hold a Southeast University Quiz Competition and Best Brain Competition to recognize the best graduating students at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

Dr. Igbojindu emphasized that the Akpoazaa Foundation is committed to fostering change and creating a better future for the youth. "We appeal for support from well-meaning individuals and organizations to help achieve this cause,” he concluded.

Anambra CP Pleads with Soludo to Assist in Upgrading Facilities at RRS

Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has appealed to the state Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, to assist the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Formation in Akwuzu by upgrading its facilities to enhance its operational effectiveness .

Orutugu made the appeal over the weekend during a facility assessment tour of the RRS Formation in Akwuzu, which he conducted alongside the governor. He urged the governor to support the upgrading of facilities at the RRS, as it would help improve the unit’s efficiency in crime prevention and law enforcement.

According to the commissioner, the state and its immediate community need to provide the unit with essential amenities, such as water and electricity, to improve the welfare of personnel and inmates.

During the visit, CP Orutugu briefed the governor on the operational readiness of the command, particularly in its efforts to re-arrest the fleeing suspects involved in the heinous murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member representing Onitsha 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

He also outlined the proactive measures being implemented to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

As part of these reforms, the commissioner mentioned that the command has commenced the reorganization of the RRS unit, including the systematic interviewing of suspects in custody.

He said the initiative aims to ensure proper accountability, uphold transparency, and reinforce the credibility of police investigations, thereby enhancing public trust in the criminal justice process.

According to him, the reorganization of the Rapid Response Squad is designed to improve the unit’s operational effectiveness in crime prevention and law enforcement.

He also informed the governor that the command is adopting a more structured and professional approach to handling suspects and is focused on strengthening evidence gathering, facilitating successful prosecutions, and enhancing overall security across the state.

In response, the governor commended the unit for its excellent performance in the state and promised to assist in upgrading its facilities.
Soludo said he will approve the necessary upgrades for proper policing of the state.

“I know the agility of the members of the RRS, and I acknowledge the sacrifices the police are making to ensure the maintenance of law and order in the state,” he stated.
