The lead counsel to indigenous people of Biafra ipob sir ifeanyi Ejiofor has called on Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) to intervene on attack of the minister of Federal Capital territory Abuja on his publicly disparaging and hurling abuses at judicial officers in the country.
Ejiofor in a statement on Monday and was made available to our reporter in awka anambra state said the minister behaviour raises serious questions about his respect for the judiciary.
According to him,the auction woke sends a concerning signal to other judicial officers currently involved in any form of transaction with him.

He said after watching the media appearance of Nyesom Wike, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, last night, he was deeply concerned.

He said it was troubling that a Life Bencher would publicly disparage and hurl abuses at judicial officers with such impunity.

The statement reads in parts:
"This behaviour raises serious questions about respect for the judiciary and sends a concerning signal to other judicial officers currently involved in any form of transaction with him, regardless of their rank. Such actions undermine the sanctity of our justice system and call for immediate redress.

I urge the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) to intervene decisively. It is imperative to demonstrate that no one, irrespective of their position, is above the law. Security for Peace, Not Politics, Lawyer Tells Soludo

Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has urged the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, not to use the "Agunechemba" security outfit for political purposes.

Ejiofor, an indigene of Anambra State, made the call in a statement issued on Monday and made available to our reporter in Awka, the state capital.
He said that the security outfit must not fall into the hands of political predators or be misused as a tool for oppression, intimidation, or harassment of opponents.

He further stated that the core objective of ensuring the security and welfare of Ndi Anambra must be preserved above all else.
The human rights lawyer also urged Ndi Anambra to come together and restore the state's lost glory in terms of security.
The statement reads:
"I have carefully reviewed the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, which establishes the 'Agunechemba' security outfit. My reflections align with the wisdom of a popular Igbo adage, 'Osita di mma odibara gboo,' loosely translating to 'it is still early in the day to make things right and achieve better results.' This underscores the opportunity to lay a strong foundation for the outfit's success.
As the November 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election approaches, I urge the Governor and his team to ensure that the Agunechemba security outfit remains free from political interference. It must not fall into the hands of political predators or be misused as a tool for oppression, intimidation, or harassment. Instead, its core objective - ensuring the security and welfare of the people - must be preserved above all else.
Security is a shared responsibility. Every citizen has a role to play in restoring Anambra State’s former glory. Together, we can achieve a safer, more prosperous homeland.
I rest my case."

IPOB Lawyer Applauds Intersociety for Exposing Human Rights Abuses in South East

Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi C. Ejiofor, Esq. has commended the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) for exposing atrocities and systematic human rights violations in Eastern Nigeria.

The lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Wednesday issued a statement made available to our reporter in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. He particularly commended Intersociety’s dedication to exposing the systemic failures of governance and the complicity of state and non-state actors in perpetuating these atrocities.

According to him, the reports titled “Ocean of Innocent Blood Flowing in Eastern Nigeria” and “Human Rights Made in Nigeria” provide an in-depth analysis of the grave violations suffered by defenseless citizens.

The human rights lawyer lauded Intersociety’s painstaking efforts in documenting the atrocities and systematic human rights violations in Eastern Nigeria, particularly with regard to the detailed account of the bloody invasion of his ancestral home.
He described the research as truly commendable.

The statement reads:
"It is with immense gratitude and profound appreciation that I acknowledge the detailed and well-researched report by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), as supported by esteemed international experts, scholars, and human rights advocates.
Your painstaking effort in documenting the atrocities and systematic human rights violations in Eastern Nigeria, particularly with respect to the well-detailed account of the bloody invasion of my ancestral home, is truly commendable.

The reports respectively titled “Ocean of Innocent Blood Flowing in Eastern Nigeria” and “Human Rights Made in Nigeria” provide an in-depth analysis of the grave violations suffered by defenseless citizens.
These meticulously compiled findings shine a spotlight on the egregious acts of extrajudicial killings, torture, enforced disappearances, and widespread destruction of property, which continue to threaten the sanctity of life and fundamental freedoms in the region. These publications serve as essential resources for the human rights community, offering a comprehensive guide for investigation and advocacy efforts.
I particularly commend their dedication to exposing the systemic failures of governance and the complicity of state and non-state actors in perpetuating these atrocities. The call to action for international bodies, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court, underscores the urgency of holding perpetrators accountable and ensuring justice for victims. This is not only a significant contribution to human rights discourse but also a critical tool for policymakers, researchers, and advocates globally.
As someone directly affected by these heinous violations, I am deeply encouraged by the courage and commitment displayed by all those involved in this project. Let this monumental work inspire collective efforts to restore justice, peace, and human dignity in Eastern Nigeria.
Thank you once again for this invaluable contribution to the fight for human rights and accountability."

Criminals, Not Freedom Fighters, Behind South East Killings - IPOB Lawyer

Titus Maduako Eleweke

Human rights lawyer and lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has stated that those terrorizing the South East are not freedom fighters, but criminals.

Ejiofor, in a statement made available to Daily Trust on Tuesday in Awka, Anambra State capital, reacting to the arrest of those responsible for killing seven persons in Ihiala Local Government Council of Anambra State said these individuals are criminals who should be treated as such.

"They are not freedom fighters or defenders of any cause - they are agents of chaos, darkness, and destruction," he said.

According to Ejiofor, the self-confessed murderer responsible for recent heinous acts in Ihiala and its environs appeared to be an indigene of the Ihiala community, not an outsider from any neighboring state.
He said the accomplices mentioned are reportedly residents within the community, rather than hiding in remote forests as previously assumed.

Ejiofor called for adequate publicizing of this confession to raise awareness about the culprits terrorizing the land.
He urged communities to be extra vigilant and report criminal elements among them.

The human rights lawyer lamented the tendency to prematurely associate every violent crime in the Southeast with IPOB/ESN, even before investigations commence. This early blame, he said, weakens citizens' participation in combating common enemies who thrive on fear and bloodshed.

Ejiofor emphasized that security must not be left solely to government agencies.
He urged communities to participate in the fight against criminality by actively identifying and confronting criminal elements to restore peace.

"No true Igbo or Biafran will align with these heartless criminals who kill, maim, and kidnap their own people. They are soulless and should face justice for their actions," he added.

Ejiofor prayed for the eradication of these bad elements, guided by strong political will, stating that God will heal Igbo land and restore peace to Ihiala, Anambra, and the entire Southeast.

"Let us all rise to the challenge, take responsibility for our security, and work together to reclaim the sanctity of our communities. United, we can overcome," he added..

N2.1B Trans-Nkisi Boulevard Takes Shape as Residents Seek Basic Amenities

Titus Maduako Eleweke

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra has awarded a contract for the construction of the Trans-Nkisi Boulevard at GRA, Onitsha, to the tune of N2.1 billion.

This development comes as the Trans-Nkisi Fitness Club has pleaded for the establishment of a market, police post, government school, hospital, and ten additional polling units in the estate, which contains over 2,000 buildings and about 3,000 plots currently under development.

According to Governor Soludo, the contract is aimed at providing access roads to the estate and alleviating the challenges faced by residents.

The contract has been awarded to Paul-B Nig Ltd, with the project expected to be completed within the next six months.

Speaking with reporters in Onitsha, the Chairman of the Nkisi Fitness Club, High Chief Ignatius Akuma, expressed gratitude to the governor for the contract and also thanked the Chief of Staff to the governor, Chief Earnest Ezeajughi, for facilitating the road project.

"By the grace of God, Governor Charles Soludo visited the estate and was impressed by the developments, describing the developmental spirit of the Igbo man as unique,"

"Several days later, he came on his own to inspect the estate, and recently, he awarded the contract for the road. This means the days of traffic hold-ups and visits to the panel beater will soon be over" Akuma said.

However, Akuma lamented that the estate lacks basic social amenities, such as a hospital, government school, police post, and market.

"While we salute the governor and his Chief of Staff, we appeal to the governor to help us establish a market because we don’t have one here, as well as a police post and hospital," Akuma said.

"There is always a problem during emergencies when we have to leave the estate and travel to Onitsha or even outside Onitsha to seek medical services."he stated.

Aguma further said that the residents of the estate have written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the approval of ten additional polling units in the area, noting that the existing seven polling units are insufficient for the growing voting population in the estate.

"We only have seven polling units in this estate, but the population continues to increase. We have written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give us at least ten more polling units in the area," he said.

Asthmatic Driver Rushed to Hospital After ARTMA Personnel's Assault in Awka

Titus Maduako Eleweke

On Tuesday, personnel of the Anambra State Roads Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) allegedly manhandled a bus driver at Aroma, Awka, the Anambra State capital. The driver was reportedly beaten and sprayed with tear gas for an alleged traffic offense.

An eyewitness, Nkechi Okoli, who witnessed the incident, stated that the traffic officers stopped the driver, and an altercation ensued. The officers allegedly beat the driver and sprayed tear gas in his face, unaware that he was asthmatic.

According to Okoli, the ARTMA personnel sprayed the tear gas four times directly into the driver's face, causing him to fall unconscious. The officers then dragged him out of the vehicle and drove off.

Okoli further stated that the victim lay on the main road for over two hours without receiving attention. When the ARTMA personnel returned to the scene, they saw the man lying helpless but did not rush him to the hospital. Instead, they took his vehicle to their office.

It took the intervention of a Good Samaritan, a woman who called a tricycle operator, to convey the victim to the Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Another eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, condemned the brutality exhibited by the ARTMA personnel. He stated that the officers could have taken the driver to the hospital when they discovered he was lying flat on the main road. Instead, they used his bus to move around until they realized the driver was in danger.

The eyewitness urged the government to call the ARTMA personnel to order before they start killing people in the name of traffic enforcement.

Mahmood's Praise for Ghanaian Counterpart Sparks Controversy, outrage

Titus Maduako Eleweke

Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has expressed shock at how the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, commended the conduct of a credible election in Ghana.

Ejiofor, in a statement made available to our reporter in Awka, Anambra State capital, on Monday, said he watched in disbelief as Prof. Yakubu lavished praise on his Ghanaian counterpart for conducting an election that saw an opposition leader emerge victorious as President-elect.

"I watched in utter disbelief as Nigeria's own Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of INEC, lavished praise on his Ghanaian counterpart for conducting a credible election that saw an opposition leader emerge victorious as President-elect.

For context, this is the same Prof. Yakubu who presided over the widely criticized 2023 Nigerian presidential election, which was marred by massive irregularities and allegations of rigging in favour of the ruling party.

In Ghana, the people's votes were respected and counted, a stark contrast to the Nigerian experience. Nigerians are still waiting for Prof. Yakubu to explain the so-called 'glitch' in INEC's server that enabled the blatant subversion of the people's will. This manipulated process robbed millions of their rightful mandate and undermined the essence of democracy.

The consequences of that flawed election are evident in Nigeria's current dire state. Tragically, those whose mandates were stolen bear the brunt of this crisis, left impoverished and disillusioned.

As Ghana shines as a beacon of democratic integrity, Nigerians are left with a painful reminder of how far we have fallen. The road to redemption will be long, but the lesson is clear: no nation can thrive when the will of its people is silenced.

The soul of Nigeria demands justice, and history will not be kind to those who betrayed her," he stated.

Cleaning Up Anambra: Ochabrigade Partners 179 Communities for Greener State

Titus Maduako Eleweke

Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (Ochabrigade) has partnered with the Presidents-General of the 179 communities in the state to you environmental laws at the grassroots level.
The Managing Director of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (Ochabrigade), Chief Celestine Anere, made this announcement during the inauguration of over 4,000 Ochabrigade-Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Marshals in Awka over the weekend.

Anere stated that Anambra Ochabrigade, in partnership with ASATU Marshals, will support the agency in enforcing clean and healthy environments across all 179 communities in the state.

According to Anere, it has become necessary to have an ASATU Marshal in every community to assist the agency in the fight against indiscipline, juvenile delinquency, and environmental pollution.

Anere said that the newly inaugurated ASATU Marshals have the full backing of the government to enforce environmental cleanliness laws in their respective communities, which, according to him, is the primary responsibility of Ochabrigade.

"There is a need to partner with all the Presidents-General of the 179 communities in the enforcement of environmental laws, as they are closest to the grassroots. Their proximity to the people at the grassroots level led Ochabrigade to seek collaboration with the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU). This led to the formation of the Ochabrigade-ASATU Marshals," he said.

However, the Ochabrigade MD cautioned the marshals against taking the law into their own hands during enforcement or engaging in actions that contradict the laws establishing the agency.
According to him, any marshal found acting inappropriately would be arrested and handed over to the police.

He also stated that Ochabrigade is ready to defend any marshal at all times, as long as they operate within the confines of the law.

Anere further disclosed that the newly recruited Ochabrigade-ASATU Marshals would receive proper training and orientation on their new duties to ensure they can carry out their responsibilities effectively.
He added that Anambra's communities must be freed from issues such as underage prostitution, illicit drug trafficking and consumption, the production of adulterated consumables, open defecation and urination, touting, and other antisocial behaviors that are detrimental to public order.

Speaking at the event, the National President of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo, welcomed the development for the benefit of the state.

The ASATU National President assured that the marshals would meet with Governor Professor Charles Soludo at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka in January 2025. According to him, after the meeting, they would proceed to training and orientation to understand the requirements of their roles.

According to Akpudo, the newly established Ochabrigade-ASATU Marshals will work closely with the Presidents-General of their respective communities to provide solutions to public concerns.

He also added that a State Task Force Team would be formed from among the marshals to prevent excesses and actions that could violate the laws empowering them to serve as agents of environmental cleanliness in Anambra communities.

Soludo Turning Anambra's Destination Dream into Reality

"I applied for the job of being governor of Anambra State. The people processed and elected me to lead the state toward a prosperous homeland. I came prepared for the job of governance, and I will lead Anambra State to a prosperous homeland where the state will become a destination point, not a departure point anymore," said Charles Soludo.

This statement has often been repeated by the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, in public fora and many people may not fully understand his vision. However, many have failed to acknowledge that he came prepared for the job of governance in the state. His transformational strides are opening the eyes of many, encouraging them to appreciate his dreams for the state and his goal to turn the State into the "Dubai of Africa."

Unquestionably, he has shown the capacity, preparedness, and determination to actualize his dream of transforming the state into a destination point where Ndi Anambra will stay back to do business rather than rushing to other states.

It was an eye-opener last week when the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, took journalists on a facility tour across the three senatorial districts of the state. The journalists, who toured the construction sites, witnessed numerous completed and ongoing projects.

It is clear that the governor is truly opening up the state to become a livable and smart city, as promised during his campaign. However, much of this progress remains little known or not fully appreciated by the people of Anambra State.

The capital city of Anambra State, Awka, is undergoing significant infrastructural transformation for the first time since the state's creation over 32 years ago. The Anambra State Government House is nearing completion, and it is expected that the government will move in within the next few weeks. The Solution Fun City for relaxation is also nearing completion, along with the iconic Light of the Nation Tower at the Government House, Awka. Additionally, the construction of a 10-story hotel in Awka and the ongoing development of the Solution Innovation District are all set to give the capital a modern city appearance.

The governor has also paved almost all the roads in Awka with asphalt and implemented a proper drainage system, ensuring that after rainfall, water disappears quickly, and the town no longer experiences the flooding that used to be common.

Speaking to journalists, Awka indigene Comrade Ozo Obi Ochije said that God has remembered Awka through Soludo, noting that since the creation of Awka as the capital city of Anambra State, they have never experienced this level of transformation.

"Today, anyone can proudly say that Awka is the capital city of Anambra State. The governor is building the Government House in Awka, and this is the first time a governor will be staying in Awka. All the roads in Awka are paved, and many roads are being opened up. The government is constructing a massive park for relaxation in Awka, providing residents with a place to unwind after work. The governor is doing well, not only in Awka but across the 21 local government areas," he said.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Awka South in 2023, Ozo Samurai Igwedima Nwofor, also commended the governor for the massive development in Awka. He urged that the governor look into the security situation in the city, noting that without security, people would still not come out to enjoy the facilities. According to him, adequate security is necessary for investors to come to Awka, invest, and enjoy the facilities. He suggested that the government should partner with various communities to address the security challenges in Awka and other places in Anambra State.

Meanwhile, in the past 30 months of Soludo’s administration, over 621.448 kilometers of roads have been awarded, and 326 kilometers have been completed. About 104 roads have been awarded, with more than 60 completed, while the rest are at various stages of completion.

Among the areas where construction has been completed is the formerly neglected Okpoko community in Ogbaru Local Government Area. Okpoko, which once lacked roads, is now accessible, and it now has a functional hospital, boreholes, and constant electricity.

The Mmiata-Nzam road, which was previously impassable, is now motorable. Nzam, an Igala-speaking community in Anambra State known for its agricultural produce, had to travel through Delta State via Onitsha to reach Awka. Today, residents can easily travel to the state capital in less than four hours.

One of the residents of Nzam, a tricycle rider named Michael Jacob, said the new roads have been a significant help because, before, they could hardly move to the next community due to poor roads. He commended the governor for his attention to their needs, stating that no one had remembered them except Prof. Charles Soludo.

In Anambra Central, over 36 road contracts have been awarded, with more than 50 percent of them completed. This includes the Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Awba Ofemili road in Awka North Local Government Area, a neighboring town to Enugu State that had been abandoned for years. The residents, mostly farmers, said that no previous governor had remembered them, but they commended the governor for his efforts. One of the residents, Charles Okoli, said that with the construction of the road, they can now transport their farm produce to the cities, and people can come and buy from them with ease. He also mentioned that since the completion of the road, property in their town has started to appreciate.

In Anambra South Senatorial District, many roads have been awarded, and almost half of them have been completed. The rehabilitation of flood-affected sections of the Isuofia-Igboukwu road and the Isuofia-Nnaka road has been completed. Ongoing construction at the Ekwulobia flyover, the iconic Light of the Nation Tower, and a water fountain in Aguata Local Government Area are further evidence of the ongoing transformation. The construction of the 3.275-kilometer Okpunueze-Nnewi hotel road has been completed, along with the rehabilitation of the Umuaguchi-Eziama erosion road in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area.

The contractor handling the Anambra State Government House, Engr. Olaolu Abatan, assured that the building will be operational in the next few weeks, as construction is near completion and orders for interior fittings have already been placed. According to him, the governor is eager to move in, and they are working around the clock to ensure delivery.

The State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, said the purpose of the facility tour was to let Ndi Anambra know the level of developmental transformation in the state. According to him, the government is determined to turn Anambra State into a destination point, rather than the departure point it has been for many years. He stated that, in an effort to achieve the goal of making Anambra a livable place, the state government has awarded 621.445 kilometers of roads over the last two years and eight months, with 326 kilometers already completed and others near completion. He said that the government is working to open up the state for investors, and with the current progress, Ndi Anambra will return home to invest, creating opportunities for the youth.

"We are seriously building the Government House, and in the next few weeks, it will be operational," he stated.

Aside from the ongoing road construction, the government has also awarded and completed several legacy projects across the three senatorial districts. The government is building a water park and amusement park in Awka, addressing the lack of recreational facilities in the state capital.

"We are taking Anambra State to greater heights, where every Anambrian will be proud to live and do business. We are building Anambra State where the poverty level will reduce in the next few years. By the end of the first tenure of this administration, there will be less poverty, and our people outside the state will begin to return home and do business," he said.

Okoma said that the vision of the Soludo-led administration is to make Anambra State a destination point, rather than a departure point as it has been in the past.

The Traditional Ruler of Awa community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Israel Okeke Ezue, pleased with the new road, stated that his kingdom has been opened to other communities.

According to him, Soludo has etched his name in gold and in the hearts of the Awa people for constructing the Awa road.

“Awa now is a haven. It is no longer the Awa without a road. The Awa community is grateful to the governor for opening up the community, allowing others to access us,” he said.

He said that with the new road, many communities can now easily access Awa, just as Awa can access other communities.

“Before now, Awa was not accessible due to bad roads, but today, people from all over Anambra and Enugu can easily come to Awa and do business,” he added.

The Traditional Ruler further noted that, with the road, his people, who are predominantly farmers, can now transport their farm produce out, and people can come in to buy them.

Also, a resident of Awa community, Mr. Vincent Nwafor, commended the governor for remembering the community.

According to him, Peter Obi awarded the contract but did not take any action, and Willie Obiano came in and, after eight years, did nothing. However, the current governor came in and constructed the road.

“The road has opened our community to others within the state and beyond. We are happy that the governor remembered us by constructing this road. It has connected us to other communities like never before. We are for Soludo, since he remembered us. In 2025, Soludo is the one we will support,” he said.

BREAKING: Court Discharges, Acquits 50 Biafrans Unlawfully Detained

The lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq., has described the release of 50 Biafrans, who were discharged and acquitted on Friday, as a Christmas victory and gift.

In a statement on Friday, Ejiofor urged Biafrans to celebrate the release of the 50 individuals, consisting of both young and old men and women, who had been illegally detained since December 1, 2023.

The statement reads: "Please, Ezigbo Umuchineke, join us in appreciating the Almighty ChukwuOkike Abiama for what He has done again today! The Federal High Court of Nigeria, sitting in Abuja, has just discharged and acquitted 50 Biafrans, including young and old men and women, who had been illegally held since December 1, 2023. This calls not only for celebration but for a victory dance."
"Recall that these innocent citizens were illegally arrested by overzealous Nigerian security agents in Anambra State on December 1, 2023, while on their way to participate in a burial ceremony. They were then bundled, transported to Abuja, and charged with frivolous and unfounded allegations of engaging in terrorism activities and meetings, in Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/8/2024."

Ejiofor stated that the trial was conducted thoroughly, with the prosecution presenting four witnesses to support their case. At the conclusion of the prosecution’s case, a 'No Case Submission' was filed, which the court ruled upon today.

According to Ejiofor, in a well-considered, incisive, profound, and erudite judgment delivered this morning, November 29, 2024, by His Lordship, Hon. Justice J.K. Omotosho, the court comprehensively upheld their 'No Case Submission' and consequently discharged and acquitted these innocent Biafrans on all three counts.
"I would like to take this opportunity to state that this case was handled pro bono. We never received a kobo from any of the defendants' relatives, and we do not intend to collect a single dime from them tomorrow. We will continue to appreciate God Almighty for His infinite blessings and grace upon our lives."
Ejiofor further expressed his gratitude to his colleagues, stating, "I would like to most profoundly appreciate the efforts of my erudite colleagues in chambers, who diligently prosecuted this defense along with me and effectively stood in for me when needed. I cannot complete this note without thanking Barrister Habila Turshak, Barrister Chimmuanya Emenari, and our indefatigable Head of Chambers, who supervised all the chambers' pre-trial meetings that laid the groundwork for this unprecedented victory."
"To God alone be all the glory and adoration. May His name be forever praised. I also take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Ezigbo Umuchineke and our steadfast supporters for always standing by us. Your prayers are making an impact."
"We will continue to legally intervene to secure the freedom of all innocent Biafrans and the oppressed who are being held illegally in various detention facilities across the country. We further urge our people to remain law-abiding, as they always have, and to reject any teachings that promote violence, as such ideologies will never prosper in the pursuit of freedom."
"Together, we shall continue to move FORWARD!!!"

APGA South East Celebrates Supreme Court's Decision on Ezeokenwa's Leadership

Titus Maduako Eleweke

The South East leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has welcomed the Supreme Court judgment confirming the recognition of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa as the substantive National Chairman of the party.

In a statement signed by the APGA National Vice Chairman, South East, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, on behalf of the party’s leadership in the zone, APGA heartily congratulated Chief Ezeokenwa on emerging victorious after a long-fought legal battle, stressing that the court has once again proven to be the last hope of the common man.

According to him, in a judgment on Wednesday, the court upheld an appeal by APGA, recognizing Sly Ezeokenwa as its National Chairman, and awarded a N20 million fine against Edozie Njoku for filing a frivolous suit at the FCT High Court, Bwari.

Justice James Omotosho, in the judgment, held that there was no valid court judgment or order, including a Supreme Court ruling, that recognized Mr. Njoku as APGA National Chairman.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Omotosho stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was wrong to have recognized the Njoku-led leadership of the party, adding that there was no subsisting court order upon which it acted.
It is worth noting that a few days ago, the Federal High Court in Abuja restrained Njoku from parading himself as the national chairman of the party.

Ehiemere expressed appreciation for the national leader of APGA, Anambra Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, for his support during these trying times, and commended the entire National Working Committee (NWC) members of APGA and leaders worldwide.

The South East Zonal Chairman, who described the Supreme Court judgment as historic in the political journey of APGA, commended Sly for staying strong, his commitment, and doggedness during this period of crisis. Ehiemere emphasized that the time for conflict is over, and it is now time for reconciliation and forging ahead as a united front to achieve the greater task of ensuring the party’s success in the Anambra governorship election in 2025, as well as in subsequent elective positions across the country in 2027.

He called on Edozie Njoku and his followers in the South East to join hands with Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa’s leadership to work together, build, and strengthen the party for the common good of all.

Emecheta, who spoke with our reporter in Awka, said that he is vying to represent Anambra South Senatorial District at the Senate to provide adequate security in partnership with the state government.

"I am the best person to replace the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah for the Anambra South Senatorial seat. I am the best in terms of emotion and thoughtfulness. I have reviewed the profiles of those aspiring to replace Ifeanyi Ubah, and no one is talking about tackling insecurity or the development of Anambra South Senatorial District. I respect them; they are qualified, but they don't have what it takes to bring the development that Governor Soludo has been fighting for all along. Soludo can only develop Anambra State if Anambra is secure," he said.

According to him, most of the crimes in the state are cross-border, and if elected to represent Anambra South Senatorial District, he will prioritize security.

Emecheta also stated that due to insecurity, many wealthy Anambra sons and daughters are not coming home to invest.
He expressed regret that most people are not discussing the security situation in Anambra South but are instead focused on good representation. "How can you represent people who are not secure?" he asked.

The former Managing Director of the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency said that he is coming to complement Governor Soludo's fight against insecurity, especially in Anambra South Senatorial District.

He added that most of the other aspirants are only interested in securing constituency projects to distribute handouts to people. "Rice, yams, motorcycles, and other handouts are not what we need in the Anambra South Senatorial District. If we have security, there are many Anambra South rice men who can come home and build factories, providing people with decent living rather than relying on these handouts. My objective is to go to the Senate, secure my constituency, and protect my people," he said.

Regarding allegations that he is a protégé of Edozie Njoku, Emecheta stated that he cannot deny their friendship.

"Njoku is my friend, and I cannot deny him because I want to contest for the Senate. On several occasions, I have called him to stop his actions against the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), but he did not listen. The former APGA National Chairman, Dr. Victor Oye, and the current National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, are alive to confirm my efforts to stop him," he said.

IPOB Lawyer Ejiofor Calls for Calm in South East

Titus Maduako Eleweke

The counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and human rights activist, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has advised Ndi Igbo to ensure that peace is restored in the South East. He urged the killers and enablers of violence in Igbo land to reflect on their actions and work towards peace in the region.

In a statement made available to our reporter in Awka, Anambra State on Monday , Sir Ejiofor emphasized that it is a well-known fact that Ndi Igbo are marginalized in the Nigerian political system. However, he stated that true struggles for the liberation of the oppressed must reject violence, fraud, criminality, and abuse as strategies.

According to him, those still clinging to the baseless December declaration should be assured that December will come and go uneventfully.

"I have always maintained that lies, deceit, fraud, treachery, and criminality have an expiration date. When the truth reaches its breaking point, it is inevitable: Game Over. To those still clinging to the baseless December declaration, rest assured, December will come and go uneventfully," he stated.

He recalled that in the past, when fantastical claims about fighter jets and warships were peddled as tools for self-aggrandizement by a serial fraudster, he warned those willing to listen that they were being swindled.

"My stance earned me severe criticism, threats, and defamation. But today, where do we stand?" he asked.

Sir Ejiofor urged those who profess to have been deceived by the unrepentant serial fraudster to pause, reflect, and retreat.

"Let us restore peace in our land so the custodians of Igbo heritage can seek ways to appease the gods for the atrocities committed against our people."he said.

He reiterated that while Ndi Igbo are deeply marginalized in the Nigerian political system, true struggles for liberation must reject violence, fraud, criminality, and abuse as strategies.
"Freedom can never be won through such means. There's absolutely no wisdom in cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. Onye nwere nti, ya nuru. Udo!!!" he added.

Opposition Frustrating Our Efforts to Build International Market – Onuzulike

Titus Maduako Eleweke

The former chairman of the Iron Dealers Union, Atani Road in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, a suburb of Onitsha, Chief Nnaemeka Onuzulike, has accused the opposition of attempting to sabotage the efforts of the Union to establish a world-class international market.

He vowed that no tactics from the opposition would succeed in distracting him or the progressive leaders and traders from completing the Nteje Building Materials International Market.

Onuzulike told newsmen that over 450 shops had already been completed, with some traders already moving into the market.

Addressing journalists in Onitsha, Onuzulike refuted the allegations made by the opposition, emphasizing that construction of additional shops was ongoing in the market to accommodate traders who had paid later.

Accompanied by members of his executive and the current Caretaker Committee, led by Chief Evaristus Ejezie, Onuzulike denied accusations from the opposition that he had failed to account for the number of plots he purchased for traders.

The opposition, led by Mr. Uzochukwu Okafor, the current Financial Secretary, had accused Onuzulike of selling plots and shops to outsiders and using the proceeds to influence prominent individuals who could have stopped his alleged excesses.
They also claimed he was collaborating with others to forcibly evict traders from their current market on Atani Road, using security operatives and touts.

Onuzulike stated that the real issue was the selfish interests and envy of certain opposition members.
He revealed that one of these individuals had approached him at the start of the project, suggesting a scheme to share traders' money, which he firmly rejected.

He also alleged that some of the opposition members had contested against him during both his first and second terms but lost.

Since then, he said they had vowed to ensure his failure and were intent on frustrating the market project to prevent his success.

Onuzulike stated that he had made every effort to appease the opposition, even going so far as to ask for forgiveness if he had inadvertently offended them, but they remained determined to derail the project.

He further explained that the Ministry of Commerce had set three conditions to resolve the situation .

He was to hand over leadership to Ejezie, which he did; then, the lawyers of both parties were to meet to withdraw the case from court, which the opposition failed to do.

He also revealed that the Anambra State Government had issued a directive to the eight markets jointly owning the new Nteje market, particularly those dealing with iron rods, to relocate by August. However, the opposition had been spreading confusion among traders, falsely claiming that Atani Road traders were excluded from the move.

On the issue of accountability, Onuzulike explained that it had been agreed in a previous meeting that he would render his account only once the market project was completed.
He stated that markets are not typically built on a plot-by-plot basis, but by shop sizes.
Those demanding plots, he said, either misunderstood the situation or were deliberately being mischievous, as the project was focused on constructing a market, not an estate.

The current Caretaker Committee chairman, Chief Evaristus Ejezie, denied claims that he was a mere rubber stamp for Onuzulike. He stressed that there was no reason for opposition, and that all parties should work together to ensure the successful completion of the market and guarantee that every trader who paid would receive their shop.

Ejezie accused Mr. Okafor, the leader of the opposition, of working with his supporters to undermine the efforts of the Caretaker Committee, even alleging that on multiple occasions, opposition members had forcibly taken microphones away from committee members during meetings.
Ejezie said that to avoid violence, he had to close one such meeting early to maintain peace.

In one instance, Ejezie claimed, the opposition had snatched a bell from someone making an announcement and made their own declaration, instructing traders to disregard official announcements from the executive.
"They told the traders that the market project would not succeed unless leadership was handed over to them" he said.

The overall chairman of the eight markets building the Nteje International Market, Chief Ignatius Ejike, attributed the ongoing troubles to the personal interests of key opposition members.
He stated that their goal was to halt the project so that Onuzulike would not receive any credit for its success, but they had failed to prevent its progress.

Ejike said, "These people just want to frustrate this project. We have all suffered for this market. There was transparency in the execution of the project, and these people were involved from the beginning. They just want to undermine Onuzulike's efforts because they contested against him and lost."

He questioned the moral standing of the opposition to call on the governor to intervene, given that they had failed to comply when the government intervened and proposed solutions through the Ministry of Commerce.

Ejike called on the opposition to put aside their differences and work with Onuzulike and Ejezie to bring the Nteje Building Materials International Market to fruition.

Ejiofor's Chambers: Shelter from the Storm

Daniel Okonkwo

In a world where justice often eludes the vulnerable, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor stands as a hope, championing the rights of those who cannot afford legal representation. A seasoned legal practitioner, Ejiofor has become synonymous with selfless service and unwavering commitment to the public good. Far beyond the reductive label of being "IPOB’s lawyer," he is a human rights advocate whose pro bono work has profoundly impacted countless lives.
Pro bono publico—" for the public good"—pro bono services are rendered free or at reduced cost to individuals or organizations unable to pay for professional expertise. Barrister Ejiofor mirrors this principle, extending his legal expertise to a diverse array of clients, irrespective of tribal, religious, or social affiliations. His chambers have become a sanctuary for the oppressed, the marginalized, and the voiceless, offering them a fighting chance at justice.
Among the numerous lives touched by Ejiofor’s altruism is the harrowing ordeal of Mr. Sampson Ogochukwu, a man sentenced to death for a crime he insists he did not commit. Ogochukwu’s story is a tragic demonstration of the systemic flaws in Nigeria’s criminal justice system.
In 2017, Ogochukwu left Onitsha, Anambra State, at the behest of a friend, Chuks Viviana Okonkwo, who promised him a job in Lagos. Securing employment as a security guard in Lekki Phase 1, Ogochukwu had no inkling of the betrayal that awaited him. One fateful day, Okonkwo, accompanied by four accomplices, tied Ogochukwu up and coerced him into leading them to his employer’s residence. They proceeded to rob the household, stealing valuables, including a car.
After the robbery, Ogochukwu was forced into the car trunk and later released with N100,000, along with instructions to flee Lagos. Choosing honesty over self-preservation, he returned to his workplace to report the incident, only to be arrested and accused of masterminding the crime.
Despite the eventual arrest of the actual culprits, who reportedly confessed to Ogochukwu’s innocence, the police and court insisted on his complicity. In a tragic twist of fate, the Lagos State High Court discharged the armed robbers but sentenced Ogochukwu to death by hanging on October 31, 2024.
Ogochukwu’s video plea from prison is a heartrending call for justice, highlighting the need for urgent legal intervention to appeal his case.
Barrister Ejiofor’s chambers are diligently working to obtain the records of proceedings that led to Ogochukwu’s conviction. His resolve to secure justice for Ogochukwu shows his commitment to the principles of equity and fairness. Ejiofor’s advocacy surpasses legal representation; it is a moral crusade against injustice and evidence of the power of compassion.

Ejiofor’s contributions to humanity extend beyond individual cases. His dedication to justice, irrespective of tribal or political affiliations, serves as an inspiration. His chambers have become a symbol of hope, proving that justice is not an exclusive privilege but a fundamental right accessible to all.

Ejiofor’s work reminds us that, as the adage goes, “It does not cost a candle anything to light another candle.” His efforts illuminate the path for others to follow, enabling a culture of selflessness and service.

Sampson Ogochukwu’s case exemplifies the dire need for collective action to address systemic injustices. It is a clarion call to all Nigerians—lawyers, activists, and citizens alike—to rally behind those wrongfully accused and ensure that justice prevails.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s tireless dedication to such causes is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of pro bono work. His legacy will undoubtedly inspire future generations of legal practitioners to uphold the ideals of fairness, compassion, and justice.

Businessman Cries Foul, Seeks PSC Help Against Judiciary

Titus Maduako Eleweke

Anambra State businessman Mr. Eches Chinedu Henry has appealed to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Abuja, to intervene in an alleged attempt to undermine the judicial process.

The move, he claims, is part of a deliberate effort to free members of an international criminal syndicate that specializes in defrauding unsuspecting businessmen, using Nigerian banks as a platform for their activities.

In a petition filed by his counsel, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor of I.C. Ejiofor & Co., Mr. Henry urged the Chairman of the PSC to use his office to stop a covert operation by some rogue elements within the police force, aimed at illegally withdrawing a pending criminal charge before the Federal High Court, Awka.
The case, identified as Suit No. C/56/2024, involves a syndicate charged with multiple counts of fraud.

According to the charge sheet referenced by our reporter, the accused individuals—Onyia Ifeanyi Eucharist, Johnson Ogbonna, and others still at large, including one Innocent Kingsley Ogbonna—conspired to commit felony by obtaining money under false pretenses.

The charges include:
Between December 2021 and January 2022, at the Electrical Parts Market in Obosi, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State, the accused fraudulently obtained $57,000 from Mr. Eches Chinedu Henry

Between December 14 and 20, 2021, they again defrauded Mr. Eches Chinedu Henry, obtaining an additional $57,000.

In January 2022, they fraudulently obtained $65,000 from one Ejike Justice Chukwudi.

In January 2022, they also defrauded one Naji Okechukwu Matthew of $30,000 at the same location.
Mr. Eches Chinedu Henry has stated that Onyia Ifeanyi Eucharist, the alleged ringleader, is a former EcoBank staff who exploited his position to defraud him of millions of Naira.
According to him, he was led to believe that the bank would facilitate his international transactions by providing him with the necessary foreign exchange to make payments for goods and services imported from China. However, Mr. Eches Chinedu Henry alleges that the trio of Onyia Ifeanyi Eucharist, Johnson Ogbonna, and Kaycee Ogbonna conspired to embezzle his hard-earned resources.

He stated that it took the swift intervention of a crack team of police officers from the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters to uncover and apprehend the syndicate members. However, Mr. Eches Chinedu Henry claims that as the case progressed smoothly in the Federal High Court, Awka, the culprits, boasting of their powerful connections in Abuja, threatened to use their influence to sabotage the case and they have succeeded in having a strange signal issued by the police high command in Abuja, aimed at terminating the charges against them and withdrawing the case pending before a court of competent jurisdiction—the Federal High Court, Awka.

The petition, which awaits action from the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, was filed on behalf of Mr. Eches Chinedu Henry by I.C. Ejiofor & Co., his legal counsel.

Human Rights Lawyer Ejiofor Loses Foster Father at 73

Titus Maduako Eleweke

Human rights lawyer and social crusader Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has lost his foster father, Chief David Onuorah Maduneme (Odanike Anam/Odogwu na Akpa Alo Anam). Maduneme passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 73, after a brief illness.

Chief David Onuorah Maduneme, a former Special Assistant to the Anambra State Governor on Security, hailed from Umuoba Nnam in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.

In a statement on Friday, Sir Ejiofor described the late Maduneme as both his hero and benefactor. According to Ejiofor, Chief Maduneme was not just a foster father but "everything" to him.
"I mean, he was everything to me in every sense of it. I am deeply broken by his tragic death," Ejiofor stated.

He went on to highlight Maduneme’s commitment to justice, describing him as a man who lived a life of courage, always standing fearlessly in defense of truth and justice, and never faltering in the face of adversity.
The statement reads:
"My eternal hero has departed this world to join our ancestors in the beyond. Though one day we shall meet again at the final judgment, I can hardly bear the thought of your absence. Farewell, Odogwu Na Akpa-alo Nke Mbu Na Anam – the unshakable warrior, the resilient protector. The mighty iroko has indeed fallen, and the heavens have cloaked themselves in mourning.
I am struggling to comprehend that you are truly gone, Odanike. How could it happen? You, who lived a life on the battlefield, standing fearlessly in defense of truth and justice. You didn’t fall in the heat of combat, nor were you struck down by an enemy’s hand; instead, you passed away peacefully. A celebrated crime fighter across the Southeast and the nation, you devoted yourself to dismantling the forces of darkness. With every act, you struck powerful blows against the enemies of our land, tirelessly pursuing justice and condemning every form of evil.
Can it be true that you are no longer with us, Odogwu na Akpa-alo? You were the one in a million, the only tree that could stand alone as a forest, towering and steadfast.
We dare not question God, yet the shock and weight of this loss is overwhelming. Though you left us with wise words and a legacy that will echo for generations, your continued presence would have made this world all the brighter. Friends, family, and loved ones across our community are grieving with disbelief. Odanike, men like you only come once in a lifetime; truly, Umuoba Anam has lost a treasure.
As I witnessed your internment, Nna Anyi Odanike, I was engulfed by varying thoughts and emotions, yet, we cannot question God’s design. I, however, take comfort in knowing that I fulfilled my duties to you as a loyal foster son, without hesitation or reserve.
As I bid you farewell from this world, I pray that the Almighty, who sees every heart, will welcome you into eternal peace. To your beloved wives, precious children, and the entire Umuoba Anam community, may the Lord’s comfort enfold you and give you strength to bear this profound loss.
Odogwu, rest well in the bosom of the Almighty God until we meet again, never to part. Farewell, Nnam. Farewell, Odogwu na Akpa-alo. Farewell, Odanike Anam. Rest in peace, my Hero."

Residents of the Golden Estate Landlord Association in Oba, Idemmili South Local Government Area, have petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra State, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, National Headquarters Abuja, regarding the nefarious activities of the Anti-Cult Police Unit in Obosi, Anambra State.

The letters, dated October 25 and October 29, 2024, were written on their behalf by their solicitors, the Law Firm of I.C. Ejiofor & Co., and duly signed by the Chief Counsel and principal partner of the firm, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq.

The Association is seeking the immediate intervention of the Police High Command to address the excesses of the Anti-Cult Unit, which has been accused of tormenting residents by breaking into their homes at ungodly hours, abducting individuals, and extorting money.
They allege that the Anti-Cult Unit forcibly enters homes at night, abducts their targets, and drives them to a nearby location to extort them before releasing them shortly thereafter.

Residents claim that the Anti-Cult Unit has turned their peaceful community into an ATM cash-and-carry point, where they periodically visit to abduct and extort. The petitions await further action from the Police High Command, leaving residents to sleep with one eye open.

Chidebe: Running for Anambra PDP Chair to Rebuild ,Reposition for Victory

Titus Maduako Eleweke

People's Democratic Party (PDP) Anambra State chairman hopeful Chidi Chidebe has expressed his desire to revive, rebuild, and reposition the party in the state for future victories.
In his PDP State Chairman Campaign Manifesto, Chidebe states he is seeking the chairmanship position to restore Anambra State PDP, which has faced setbacks over the years.

"I present to you my well-thought-out vision to revive and strengthen our dear party in the state. It is widely acknowledged that our great party, the PDP, has faced substantial challenges in recent years. Among these is the painful loss of nearly all elective positions we once held due to internal divisions, conflicts, and a lack of cohesive strategy. This setback has diminished our ability to effectively represent the interests of our people across Anambra State. However, this moment of difficulty presents an opportunity for renewal. Now, more than ever, we need a fresh, strategic approach to rebuild our party's unity, restore the confidence of both our members and the electorate, and position ourselves for victory in the upcoming elections," he stated.

He emphasized that a strong PDP taking over Anambra State requires decisive, visionary leadership committed to bringing people together, resolving conflicts, and focusing on the future.

According to him, his manifesto outlines five key agendas that will guide his leadership if granted the mandate to serve as PDP State Chairman.
He said each agenda is designed with clear, measurable steps and concrete Programme to ensure the successful implementation of prosperous party activities in the state.

"Our goal is not only to revitalize the party but to regain our political footing and emerge stronger and more united in the crucial battles ahead, particularly the upcoming governorship election in November 2025 and the general elections in early 2027. These agendas include strategies to promote unity, enhance party structures, strengthen relationships with our national leadership and grassroots members, foster accountability, and drive grassroots mobilization efforts that will bring us back to electoral success. Dear Party Leaders and Faithful, by working together and following these actionable plans, I am confident that we can restore the PDP as the leading political force in Anambra State and deliver the kind of leadership that our people deserve," he said.

He said his first agenda focuses on Rebuilding Internal Unity and Party Cohesion, aimed at healing divisions, fostering collaboration, and establishing a united front across all levels of the party.
He assured the establishment of a Unity and Reconciliation Committee within the first month of assuming office, composed of respected elders, youth leaders, and stakeholders tasked with resolving disputes and grievances.

Chidebe also assured that he would host a state-wide Stakeholders Conference within the first 90 days, where all factions would come together for comprehensive dialogue on key issues. He pledged to implement regular consultative meetings between party leadership and local government leaders to maintain open communication and prevent future divisions.

"I will constitute a Unity and Reconciliation Committee within 30 days, host a state-wide Stakeholders Conference within three months, and ensure regular meetings with quarterly reports. Additionally, I will establish a strategic Grassroots Mobilization and Voter Engagement initiative aimed at re-energizing the party base and increasing voter turnout by reconnecting with communities," he assured.

He promised to launch a Grassroots Engagement Programme, named “PDP Everywhere,” within the first six months, targeting all 21 LGAs to re-establish local party structures and empower Ward-Level Mobilization Units with resources and training for door-to-door voter education, ensuring registration and engagement leading up to the governorship election in December 2025.

He also stated that he is committed to creating a Digital Outreach Team to engage young voters through social media and mobile platforms, leveraging the latest digital tools to strengthen communication with all segments of the electorate.

According to him, the Grassroots Engagement Programme will be launched by mid-2025, with Ward-level mobilization and voter education completed by September 2025, and the Digital Outreach Team will be active by January 2025.

He assured of strengthening synergy with national leadership and enhancing local government and ward relationships to create harmonious and effective relationships with the PDP's national leadership while fostering deeper engagement with local government and ward leaderships across Anambra State.

"I will establish a Regular Dialogue Platform with National Leadership within the first 30 days of my tenure to ensure that the state's needs align with the national party’s vision. This platform will involve periodic meetings and consultations, ensuring that Anambra State PDP remains a vital part of the national agenda. I will implement a Quarterly Leadership Forum where key stakeholders from each zone will meet with the state executive committee to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for grassroots mobilization," he stated.

He said the Liaison Committee will serve as a bridge between state, local, and national leaderships, ensuring seamless communication and coordination on major policy issues and elections.
According to him, regular outreach to local governments and wards will be conducted through town hall meetings, fostering inclusivity and ensuring grassroots leadership feels empowered in the party’s decision-making process.

He assured that the Dialogue Platform with National Leadership would be launched within the first 30 days of his tenure, with the Quarterly Leadership Forum operational by the first quarter of 2025.

He said the Liaison Committee will be active by April 2025, with regular outreach to local governments and wards by July 2025.

Chidebe emphasized financial transparency and resource mobilization to enhance accountability while mobilizing resources for the party’s electoral campaigns.
He promised to establish a Transparent Financial Management System to ensure that all contributions and expenditures are tracked and publicly accounted for quarterly.

He also pledged to create a Fundraising Committee to collaborate with stakeholders, supporters, and the private sector to generate funds for the party’s activities, especially for the upcoming elections.

Chidebe said a Membership Dues Programme will be initiated to allow party members to contribute regularly to the party’s growth and ensure financial self-reliance.

He also said Financial Management System will be implemented within two months of taking office, the Fundraising Committee established by March 2025, and the Membership Dues Programme initiated by mid-2026.

"The Governance Accountability and Policy Advocacy objective will focus on holding elected officials accountable and positioning the PDP as the voice of the people in advocating for good governance and impactful policies" he said.
Chidebe plans to establish a Good Governance Monitoring Team to evaluate the performance of PDP members in public office and ensure they deliver on their promises.

He intends to host a Policy Advocacy Summit every six months, bringing together policy experts, lawmakers, and party members to discuss pressing issues such as security, education, and infrastructure, while shaping the party’s stance on these matters.

Chidebe pledged to create a Legislative Support Desk within the party headquarters to assist elected officials with policy research, legislation drafting, and constituency engagement. Additionally, he said he will establish a Planning, Evaluation, Monitoring, Documentation, and Advocacy Unit responsible for documenting and dissecting current government policies in the state and the federation.

" This unit will critique these policies and provide valuable, well-researched alternative courses of action as a constructive opposition party, aimed at improving governance and advancing citizens' well-being. The findings and recommendations of the unit will be shared regularly with both party leadership and the followership" added.

He stated that the Good Governance Monitoring Team would be operational within three months, with the first Policy Advocacy Summit scheduled for October 2025, followed by regular bi-annual meetings.
"The Legislative Support Desk will be active by April 2025, while the Planning, Evaluation, Monitoring, Documentation, and Advocacy Unit will be fully functional by January 2025, providing regular critiques and policy briefs to party leadership quarterly" he said.

Chidebe believes these key agendas are designed to reinvigorate the PDP, restore confidence among party members, and ultimately lead to success in both the 2025 Governorship Election and the 2027 General Elections.
He said each step will be pursued with transparency, accountability, and the full involvement of every PDP member.

"By implementing this plan, we will not only revive the PDP in Anambra State but also build a party that stands as a united, progressive force capable of delivering good governance and winning elections. Esteemed Party Leaders and Faithful, I humbly ask for your support and commitment to join me in making this vision a reality. Together, we can rebuild and strengthen our great party, ensuring a brighter and more victorious future for the PDP in Anambra State. Your vote, trust, and dedication are essential to this journey. Let us stand united and work hand in hand to create a party that is stronger, more cohesive, and prepared for the challenges ahead. Together, we will make the PDP stronger and ready to lead," he added.

The Liaison Committee will be active by April 2025, with regular outreach to local governments and wards by July 2025.

A Membership Dues Programme will be initiated to allow party members to contribute regularly to the party’s growth and ensure financial self-reliance.

The Financial Management System will be implemented within two months of taking office, the Fundraising Committee established by March 2025, and the Membership Dues Programme initiated by mid-2026.

The Governance Accountability and Policy Advocacy objective will focus on holding elected officials accountable and positioning the PDP as the voice of the people in advocating for good governance and impactful policies.

Additionally, he will establish a Planning, Evaluation, Monitoring, Documentation, and Advocacy Unit responsible for documenting and dissecting current government policies in the state and the federation.

This unit will critique these policies and provide valuable, well-researched alternative courses of action as a constructive opposition party, aimed at improving governance and advancing citizens' well-being. The findings and recommendations of the unit will be shared regularly with both party leadership and the followership.

He stated that the Good Governance Monitoring Team would be operational within three months, with the first Policy Advocacy Summit scheduled for October 2025, followed by regular bi-annual meetings. The Legislative Support Desk will be active by April 2025, while the Planning, Evaluation, Monitoring, Documentation, and Advocacy Unit will be fully functional by January 2025, providing regular critiques and policy briefs to party leadership quarterly.

Chidebe believes these key agendas are designed to reinvigorate the PDP, restore confidence among party members, and ultimately lead to success in both the 2025 Governorship Election and the 2027 General Elections. Each step will be pursued with transparency, accountability, and the full involvement of every PDP member.

We Don't Torture,Ocha Brigade Tells Fake Beverage Factory Owner In Onitsha

Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, Ocha Brigade, and the presidential task force on economic sabotage have denied torturing anyone among those arrested for allegedly manufacturing fake beverages in Onitsha, Anambra State. The coordinator of the presidential task force on economic sabotage for the Anambra state chapter, Hon. Collins Enebeli, stated that none of those arrested were beaten or tortured by anyone. He also noted that after the arrests, they were handed over to the police along with the confiscated drinks.

The seven arrested individuals raised alarm about torture and detention at Ocha Brigade on Thursday after being released by the Anambra State Police Command. They claimed that they were rescued by the police in Anambra State.

In their allegations, they stated they were illegally arrested and tortured by Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, while in its detention facility for days over accusations of dealing in fake products. They stated that the factory is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and has approval from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). They also mentioned that the seven individuals who were released have been hospitalized due to the torture inflicted upon them at the Ocha Brigade detention facility.

The director of AliBan De Great Industries, a beverage factory in Nkpor, Onitsha Mr. Ali Barnabas, described the arrests as an invasion of his factory and the abduction of his workers by Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra.
He explained, "I have many products registered with NAFDAC and CAC. On October 7, the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) stormed my factory, ransacked it, and took five of my workers along with a vehicle, releasing them with the vehicle the same day."

"On October 10, over 50 masked Ocha Brigade personnel, along with three SPACS members, again stormed my factory, broke through the iron protection, removed over 2,000 cartons of finished products, damaged the CCTV camera, and took my laptop, among other items. They detained nine of my workers, but when one complained of being pregnant, two were released and seven were held at the Ocha Brigade detention facility. Days later, they were taken to the State CID Awka, where I met with the DCP. After listening to my defense and conducting a discrete investigation, he asked me to write a statement, which I did, and my staff were released," he said.

According to him, the factory that Ocha Brigade sealed has not conducted any business for seven consecutive days now.
"The DCP expressed surprise that Ocha Brigade would storm my factory and seal it when I have both NAFDAC and CAC documents. He immediately ordered that those seven be released. Interestingly, I presented my latest NAFDAC renewal approval to the DCP," he stated.

Reacting, the Managing Director (MD) of Ocha Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, said their goal is to clean Anambra State from unhealthy practices. According to him, the law mandates the agency to maintain cleanliness in the state and enforce measures against anything that poses health risks.

He stated that the federal agency took them to a factory where they discovered the environment for beverage production was dirty and unsuitable for human consumption.
"When we found the filthy conditions and crude methods of manufacturing beverages, we had to seal and confiscate the suspected fake drinks and hand them over to the police. Our mission is to protect Ndi Anambra and residents from unwholesome practices," he said.

Anere denied claims of torture and unlawful detention at the Ocha Brigade facility.
"After the arrest and confiscation of the drinks, we transferred the matter to the State CID and handed over the suspects and the fake drinks to them. You can verify this with the DC of State CID," he stated.

The Anambra State Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigative Department (CID), DCP Akin Fakorede, confirmed that the suspects were transferred to their station. When asked whether the police actually rescued them, he responded, "Were they kidnapped in the first place? There was no need for rescue."
He clarified that they were transfered and the police had taken them to the station, and they were not rescued because they were never kidnapped.

Fakorede noted that the police released the suspects because they had exceeded the required detention time, and the investigation is ongoing. He added that the police have contacted NAFDAC for a proper investigation into the drinks and are still awaiting a reply.

Speaking on the matter, the Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on Economic Sabotage in Anambra State, Hon. Collins Enebeli, stated that their whistleblowers provided information about the factory, leading them to contact the Ocha Brigade as statutory agency for such enforcement in the state.

According to Enebeli, when they arrived, they found that the factory was producing six different drinks in an unsanitary environment.
"We discovered that these drinks were made in filthy conditions. They were pouring mixtures into dirty containers like buckets and gallons, mixing some ingredients, and bottling them by hand," he said.

Regarding NAFDAC approval, he questioned, "Which NAFDAC would approve such an environment for beverage production?"

He emphasized that they captured evidence on video, showing workers washing bottles by hand and mixing concoctions without machinery. They claimed that their machines were broken and they had to resort to manual production due to an emergency order. He stated that they confiscated the drinks and brought them to the police station in Awka.

"We did not beat anyone or torture anyone; neither did Ocha Brigade. I even released one pregnant woman and another who was menstruating," he added.

Regarding their next steps, Enebeli said they plan to send the confiscated drinks to NAFDAC to determine if the agency granted approval for production in such unhygienic conditions. He also called for NAFDAC to shut down the factory due to its detrimental impact on public health.

Arming FRSC: Recipe for Road Violence - Human Rights Lawyer

An Abuja-based human rights lawyer, Sir Ifeanyi C. Ejiofor, has condemned and called for the rejection of the proposed bill to arm members of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nigeria.
Ejiofor, in a statement on Wednesday, said the bill, which seeks to turn a civilian agency entrusted with traffic management into an armed force, poses a serious risk to public safety.
According to him, if the bill is passed, it would escalate violence on Nigerian roads.
Ejiofor stated that the majority of FRSC members have turned their various checkpoints across the states into mobile ATM machines, Oftentimes, non-compliance with their illegitimate demands for citizens' hard-earned money at these checkpoints leads to untimely deaths.
He stated that allowing the FRSC to carry guns would only increase the likelihood of such tragic incidents.
The statement reads:
"The proposed bill to arm the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is deeply troubling and should be rejected. This attempt to turn a civilian agency responsible for traffic management into an armed force poses a serious risk to public safety and threatens to escalate violence on our roads.
We have already witnessed the tragic consequences of armed officials misusing their power. Instances of trigger-happy law enforcement officers have marred the nation’s peace, leading to the needless loss of innocent lives. The majority of them have turned their various checkpoints across the states into mobile ATM machines. Oftentimes, non-compliance with their illegitimate demands for citizens' hard-earned money at these checkpoints results in untimely deaths. Allowing the FRSC to carry guns will only increase the likelihood of such tragic incidents.
We also need to consider the psychological impact of arming road safety officials. The main duties of the FRSC, as clearly defined under the law establishing the agency, are to guide, educate, and enforce traffic regulations in a calm and orderly manner—not to incite fear or foster an environment of intimidation. When we raise the possibility of violence on our highways, how can we claim to be protecting public safety?
Instead of arming the FRSC, the agency should invest in contemporary technology, improved training, and coordination with security agencies to address the underlying causes of insecurity. I urge all well-meaning citizens to reject this bill in its entirety. The focus should be to ensure our roads remain a place of safety, not a battlefield.
It is imperative that lawmakers and other elected leaders concentrate on the pressing issues afflicting the country."

Independence Day: Unite for Equality, Accountability, Isk Boss

By Karen James

The Founder of Women Supporting Women in Politics Network, CEO of Isk Production, and Isk Consulting, Dr. Isoken Ibieorutomwen has stated that as Nigerians mark another Independence Day, we are reminded of the arduous journey that has shaped our nation—a journey built on the sacrifices, courage, and dreams of those who dared to challenge the status quo in pursuit of freedom.
" Today, we celebrate not only our hard-won independence but also the resilience and indomitable spirit that bind us together as a people. Yet, as we reflect on our progress, we must confront the deep challenges that threaten our collective future.

Corruption continues to undermine our institutions, inequality persists as a glaring injustice, and division festers, leaving scars on the nation’s fabric. These are not just inconveniences but serious roadblocks to the bright future we seek. If we are to realize the true promise of independence, we must address these issues with unflinching honesty and resolve. Now is the time for action. We must ask ourselves if we are ready to build a society where every citizen, regardless of background, can thrive, and if we are prepared to reject the forces of hate and exclusion that divide us. Unity is not a mere slogan—it is our lifeline, and our diversity is not a weakness but our greatest strength.

Equally, important is the fight against corruption, a cancer that threatens everything our forebears fought for. Progress will remain elusive unless we demand full accountability from those in power. Transparency is not optional; it is essential to building the future we aspire to.

Moreover, it is time to place women at the forefront of national leadership. The potential of this nation will never be fully realized if we continue to marginalize half of our population. It’s not enough to open doors for women; we must empower them to lead boldly and contribute their unique insights to shaping our nation’s future.

On this Independence Day, let us not only commemorate the past but also commit to building a future that is just, inclusive, and defined by the courage to tackle our greatest challenges. Only by doing so can we truly honour the sacrifices that gave birth to this nation and move toward a brighter, more equitable tomorrow for all"

Anambra Journalist Calls for Revamped Juvenile Prisons

By Karen James

Ambassador Karen James, a prominent investigative journalist and world peace advocate, has called on the Nigerian government to establish juvenile prisons across all states to better protect and rehabilitate young offenders.
Speaking at a recent event focused on youth empowerment and justice reform, Ambassador James highlighted the urgent need for specialized facilities that can provide a safe environment for children involved in criminal activities.

“These juvenile prisons should serve not only as correctional facilities but as centers for learning, skill development, and psychological support,” she stated. She emphasized that many young offenders are products of difficult socio-economic circumstances, and without proper interventions, they risk becoming entrenched in a cycle of crime.

Ambassador James stressed that current practices often place young offenders in adult prisons, where they face harsher treatment and are deprived of opportunities for meaningful rehabilitation. Developing juvenile-specific correctional centers, according to her, would offer these children a second chance to reform and reintegrate into society with new skills and a sense of purpose.

In her appeal, Ambassador James called for immediate action from both the government and the private sector to fund and prioritize juvenile justice reform, noting that the future of Nigeria's youth depends on the provision of safe, supportive environments where they can learn, grow, and leave behind a life of crime.

“By investing in juvenile prisons and rehabilitation programs, we are investing in the future of our nation. These children need guidance, not punishment, and we must step up to provide the necessary tools for their transformation,” she concluded.

Anambra:Victim Raises Alarm Over Plan To Dump Corpse In Ancestral Land

The youth leader of Ezinano community in Awka of Anambra state, Mr Tochukwu Nwokoye has narrated his ordeal in the hands of officer incharge of Rapid Response Sqaud, Awkuzu in Oyi local government council of the state,Supol Ifeanyi Iburu.
Nwokoye, who spoke with our correspondent on Sunday in the hospital where he was taking treatment, said his experience in the hands of Iburu was not only terrifying but horrible.
He said that they were in their ancestral land at Ezinano and suddenly ,a team of police men led by Supol Ifeanyi Iburu stormed the place, shooting sporadically, ordering them to lie down or be shot dead.
According to him,he has not met Iburu before and does not know him, he wondered why he stormed their Ancestral land in a commando style forcing them to lie down or be killed.

" We were at our land at Ezinano on first of September 2024. We have plotted the land , fenced it ,even our women have planted cassava there. When we went there, we discovered that some people came with excavators and were destroying our crops, removing beacons.
" We sent our Youth Secretary to B division, in Awka ,to make entry along with the ladies who planted cassava there. The Divisional Police Officer in charge of B.division sent two policemen to know what was happening, before then we had stopped those people with excavator from destroying our crops and removing our beacons.
" As we were there, suddenly,we saw some people with guns shooting and asking us to lie down or risk being killed. We obeyed and they are about 15 in number. As the Youths leader,I asked them what was the problem, instead, they started beating me.
" One of the B Division officers sent by their DPO told them they are there to investigate the problem, they resorted beating him, describing him as one of the accomplice of criminalities in the town. At that time the youths with me wanted to be angry, I calmed them down.
" They asked me why did we come to the land and I told them that it is our land. Immediately, they started videoing us and the land. They did not tell us the problem or who sent them.
" They took me away to RRS headquarters at Awkuzu and after reaching Ukpor- Abba junction, Iburu started calling one Peter that he should bring out AK from the armoury. When I asked him, what is happening,he threatened to kill me if I did not take my time. He said we have been killing people and burying them in that land, thinking that nobody knows. He told me that if they could not trace any grave there, they will kill one person and bury him there, and we will answer the question.
" When we got to Awkuzu RRS Station, they brought out one AK 47 rifle, tried to hang it on my neck,I resisted it and they started beating me again and forcefully hung the gun on my neck and took pictures of me with the gun.
" After that, he ordered that I be sent to cell five, meanwhile,he had not taken any statement from me. As I got inside the cell,I saw about seven malnourished persons and they told me for three months they have not eaten. Not up 30 minutes, one died and they took him away. At about 6.30 to 8 pm they called my name that I should wear my clothes. I worn my clothes, they started threatening to kill me again and I asked again , what is the problem? He said that we have been killing people and burying them in that land. He said that if they could not find any one ,they will bury one for us and show the AK47 he found with me.
" I never knew we were heading to the office of the State Commissioner of police and when we got there, the CP asked him whether he recovered the AK47 from me, he said no. He asked him again, whether he snapped me picture with AK, he said no,then, the CP directed he should go and release me.
The CP asked me to call my people for bail and I told him that they collected my phone. Then, Supol Iburu ordered one of his boys to give me my phone. I also told the CP that I had N350,000 in my car which I collected from UBA and I couldn't find it.
When we left the CP office to Awkuzu, they started beating me again. I told him what they were doing was not right and if they killed me, the Commissioner is already aware about my whereabout and my people too. He started shouting on me , calling one of his boys to go and find out where there is a dead body and plant at the land so that they will make case with my people. I told him that, 'Thank God you have told CP you did not recover any gun from me. I also told him that I don't have any criminal matter or record before any authority, then, they resumed the beating.
When we got to Awkuzu Station, they released me and since then,I have been visiting hospital, treating my self, " he said.
Nwokoye also stated that he was having fears that those who really want to destroy him might have something else more sinister about him.
" I hope they are watching my movement and that they might likely set me up or kill me carelessly. Honestly,I don't know where the problem is coming from, but I knew we have land issue with some people before a high Court and I feel,if the people have any allegation they should come to the court and prove their case rather resorting to self help.
" I will also advise, that Iburu do his police work accordingly and stop meddling into land matter" he added.
Nwokoye said that Supol Ifeanyi Iburu cannot be taking laws into his , noting that there are areas he should avoid as permitted by the Constitution.
Also speaking on the matter, one Community leader from Ezinano, High Chief sir Arinze Ekelem described Nwokoye as s patriotic son of Ezinano community.
According to him, Nwokoye loves his people and his people love him too, noting that whatever concern his people, concerns him.
He said that he was surprised when he learnt that awkuzu RRS arrested, detained and tortured him.
Ekelem equally expressed surprise that a rifle was hung on his neck and the Awkuzu police took pictures of him with the gun.
"We don't need to quarrel with the Police, they are doing good jobs but they should do their work according to dictates of the Consitution.
RRS is not supposed to be involved in land matter," he said.
He said that even if somebody had reported any infraction, the police should do their due investigation and not resorting to self help, threatening to kill and harassing innocent people.
He however cautioned that nothing happens to the young man, noting that though, Nwokoye is a human being, " he should be entertaining some fears given his experience with the police."
When contacted the Anambra police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu ikenga, he asked me "Who is somebody, do people just accuse a group or person then your next line of action is to file a story.
Please I ask you? To what purpose do you intend to achieve to file a story as you claim Becos I don’t have any report or information on this if not you said it to me now.
Meanwhile I take it as a privilege information from you to the institution and advice the accuser to come forward and see me

Soludo: APC Fears Loss in LGA Elections, Struggles to Exist in Anamba

Titus Maduako Eleweke

Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Soludo has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is afraid of losing elections, which is why they did not present any candidates.

Soludo made this declaration during the flag-off of the party's local government council elections campaign in Awka, the state capital, on Saturday.

According to him, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) faces no opposition in the state, noting that other parties are not genuinely contesting, as the few that fielded candidates are not campaigning effectively.

"APC does not exist in Anambra State; they could not field any candidate because they are afraid. Despite their calls for local government elections, they did not put forward a single candidate. Now that the elections are approaching, they have run away because they know they cannot win a ward in the state. As for LP, it is disintegrated and cannot validly contest in this election," he stated

He also stated that the Labour Party (LP) managed to field six chairmanship candidates and six councilorship candidates but described the party as disorganized.
"LP is a disintegrated party that cannot win any wards in the state," he stated.

He declared that APGA is fully prepared to capture all 21 local government council chairmanship and 326 ward councilor seats in the upcoming local government elections next Saturday.

According to him, APGA faces no opposition in the state, and the other parties are not genuinely contesting since the few that fielded candidates are not campaigning effectively.

"APGA is Anambra, and Anambra is APGA," he said, asserting that the party will win all seats from local government chairmen to councilors. The governor emphasized that APGA is the only party that has fielded candidates for all positions, while other parties are afraid of failure and thus did not field candidates.

Soludo mentioned that APGA has already been returned in four local government councils unopposed due to the inability of the opposition to field candidates.

He reiterated that the APC is also afraid of losing elections, which is why they did not present any candidates.

He urged the people of Anambra to come out on Saturday and vote for APGA, noting that results would be announced by 3 PM.

During the mega rally, the embattled national chairman of the party, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, urged party faithful to vote massively for APGA. He claimed that those opposing the party are primarily interested in misappropriating state funds for personal gains rather than serving the people. Ezeokenwa commended Governor Soludo for using state funds wisely and urged the public to support his transformative agenda.

He also stated that the state APGA has achieved "21 over 21" and is winning all 326 councilor positions in the state.

The former national chairman of the party, Ozo Victor Oye, echoed that there is no other party in Anambra State apart from APGA. He warned that anyone attempting to block the party from winning all the seats would face consequences.

The former House member representing Anambra East and West in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, affirmed that the party is united and is entering the election with a unified force. "We are the ones who helped former Governor Chief Willy Obiano win 21 over 21, and we are still with the party and Prof. Charles Soludo. Those claiming that the people who worked for Obiano are not with Soludo are not telling the truth. We are united and actively supporting Soludo," he added.
