Land: Ezza Nkomoro Abusing of Prof Nnaji’s Magnanimity By Dr Kenechukwu Orji The media everywhere in the world fight for the less privileged. However, some crafty individuals and groups often attempt to manipulate this media leaning by framing themselves as victims even when they are the aggressors. This is the case with a faction of squatters in Onuogba Nike in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State who are claiming the ownership of a parcel of the land in the Onuogba Community belonging to Professor Bart Nnaji, a former Minister of Power. They have been moving from one media house to another portraying themselves as hapless victims while projecting Professor Nnaji as a man of means confiscating their land. They have even held a press conference where they claimed Onuogba Nike as their ancestral homeland. How this community can claim Onuogba Nike to be their ancestral home is a puzzle because they proudly acknowledged that they started coming to Onuogba only in 1958 as mercenaries in an inter-village fight. They hail from the Ezza Nkomoro community in Ezza Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and some of them arrived in Onuagba as recently as this year. In other words, they do not mince words that the Nkomoro community in Ebonyi State is their ancestral land. To state the obvious, the land in question originally belonged to the Onuogba people of Nike who are part of the Nkanu sub Igbo ethnic group in Enugu State. It is unfair to the history of the Nkanu people for a faction of the Ezza Nkomoro squatters to claim the land. The Onuogba leaders and people have on several occasions made it abundantly clear that they never gave the parcel of land belonging to Prof Nnaji which is in the Ndume part of their community to the Ezza Nkomoro mercenaries as compensation for fighting for them. The Onuogba people rather gave them land in Ogbanu to farm and pay rent to them, as testified by Chief Emmanuel Ubochi, President General of the Onuogba Community, at a news conference in Enugu on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The parcel of land belonging to Nnaji was sold to him in 2005 by the late Chief Hyacinth Alinta, a well-known entrepreneur, who acquired it from the original owners in 1977. It was a legitimate transaction. The C of O was issued to Chief Alinta by the old Anambra State Government and given Number EN/SDR/NW/464/87/ANS. Chief Alinta subsequently passed on the C of O to Prof Nnaji in 2005 when he paid for the land. Though the globally famous engineering professor acquired the land to start building an auto parts manufacturing firm, he allowed the Ezza Nkomoro squatters some years to prepare to relocate purely on compassionate grounds. A few years ago when Nnaji decided to develop the place, the squatters approached Bishop Callistus Onaga of the Enugu Catholic Diocese to request Prof Nnaji, a devout Catholic, to give them a little more time. Nnaji accepted the bishop’s plea. He even pledged up to N1million each to assist some of the squatters. Bishop Onaga and the Parish Priest of the Catholic Church in Onuogba asked them to register with them for financial assistance, but they spurned the gesture. The squatters instead chose to build all manner of structures there to create the impression that they have sucessfully seized the land. They put up the structures without any Certificate of Occupancy because Prof Nnaji is the person with the C of O. They erected structures without any building plans approved by the Enugu East LG because they know it is impossible to get such approvals. They are squatters. That’s why they lost to the Chief Alinta family in the judgment delivered on January 21, 2013, by Mr. Justice E. N. Oluedo of the Enugu State High Court. That’s why the courts have bluntly refused to give them a stay of execution as they requested but instead asked the landowner to execute the judgment. It is self-evident that these squatters have been abusing Prof Nnaji’s patience and generosity. It is provocative for them to brand the landowner a landgrabber whereas they are the real landgrabbers. It is provocative for them to go on a relentless calumny campaign in the media against the landowner, and it is disingenuous for them to portray themselves as Nigeria’s David and Nnaji as Goliath. It is provocative to the Onuogba people who are their hosts for Ezza Nkomoro elements to declare the Onuogba community their ancestral land. It is reckless to claim the ownership of any piece of land in the 21st century without any evidence whatsoever. It is primitive to threaten the owner of any asset with tremendous violence when he seeks to develop his property. Despite these provocative acts, we appeal to Prof Nnaji to consider the request by a faction of Ezza Nkomoro squatters to sell a portion of the parcel of land to them purely on compassionate grounds. We appeal to him to consider selling to them at below-the-going market rates in recognition of Nigeria’s economic stress which affects everyone. And in view of the economic hardship, we also encourage him to allow staggered payment. We believe that Prof Nnaji’s acceptance of our appeal will result in a win-win for every party. This will be the beginning of the healing process needed in the Onuogba community of Nike. Long live, Enugu State. Dr Kenechukwu Orji Secretary,Enugu Indigenous Professionals

1st Bank,BOI join AITE to Promote Nigerian Non-oil Exports in USA Titus Maduako Eleweke First Bank, Nigeria’s oldest bank, and the Bank of Industry (BOI) are expected to participate in the 2024 Africa International Investment Summit and Trade Exhibition (AITE) scheduled to be held this month in New York and Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America. The two major financial institutions will play a prominent role as lead sponsors from Nigeria. This revelation was made by Tunde MacAlabi, the AITE chairman, in a statement he personally signed on Monday in Lagos. “We are pleased to announce that these key financial institutions are participating fully as major promoters of this year’s show that seeks to promote non-oil exports from Nigeria. Given the critical need to broaden our economic base and diversify our foreign exchange sources, it is essential that the nation and all its people and organizations focus on non-petroleum exports,” MacAlabi stated. Among other organizations that had earlier confirmed support for the 2024 AITE are Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline; Businessday, the country’s foremost business newspaper; the Asmiol Group of the United States; and the Cruxstone Property Group of Nigeria. The 2024 AITE is being organized in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment; the United States-Nigeria Export and Investment Group; the FAMES Foundation of Atlanta; as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “While the 2023 edition, held on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, was hugely successful and attended by the Minister, this year’s event is set to be bigger and more successful. That’s why it is being held in two key American cities, rather than one, as was the case last year,” he said. MacAlabi disclosed that the focus of the 2024 exhibition will be on small and medium-sized businesses. “This is because these businesses, which unfortunately do not receive adequate official attention, account for up to 85% of employment in Africa. “Nigeria and other African nations cannot continue along this development trajectory without serious repercussions. It is, therefore, appropriate that we are focusing on these businesses, which have been neglected for too long despite their immense role in development,” MacAlabi said. MacAlabi explained that with the appropriate attention to small and medium-sized businesses, Nigeria can become a trillion-dollar economy by 2025, as envisioned by President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. AITE is a public-private sector initiative organized as a follow-up to the annual US-African Leaders Summit to foster commercial engagement between the United States and the African region.

Squatters cannot claim ownership of land, says Prof. Nnaji Titus Maduako Eleweke Chairman of Geometric Power Group, Prof. Barth Nnaji has stated that land in Onuogba Nike, Enugu State, belongs to him and not the squatters. Nnaji, who was formerly the Minister of Power, said those who addressed the media in Enugu regarding the land was sensational by describing him as a land grabbing in the area. He claimed that the squatters occupying a piece of land in Onuogba Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area, media briefing were part of a campaign against him. In a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Chijioke Ogbodo, Prof. Nnaji said it was very ridiculous to describe a landowner as a land grabber. According to him, a section of the media published the squatters' claims, but most media outlets chose not to cover the conference because they recognized the claims as baseless, false, misleading, and immoral. He asserted that the squatters were, in fact, the land grabbers. The statement reads in part: "None of the few media that published the dubious claims of these land grabbers bothered to speak to Professor Nnaji, thereby violating a basic principle of journalism and natural justice: always hear both parties in a dispute before reporting it. They also did not contact the Catholic Bishop of the Enugu Diocese, The Most Reverend Dr. Callistus Onaga, DD, who was mentioned multiple times at the press conference. If they had attempted to speak to His Lordship, who intervened in the matter purely on humanitarian grounds, they would have obtained the true and correct picture. The landowner is Professor Nnaji, not the squatters. When Prof. Nnaji returned from the USA to establish an auto parts manufacturing industry and independent power project in Enugu State in partnership with his South Korean partners, he purchased the land in 2005 from Chief Hyacinth Alinta, the owner who held the Certificate of Occupancy. The late Chief Hyacinth Alinta, a respected businessman and proud son of Enugu State, had acquired the land much earlier from the original owners in Onuogba community. When Prof. Nnaji wanted to clear the land and start the project after the purchase, some individuals who had recently migrated from Ezza Nkomoro in Ebonyi State to the Onuogba Nike community and were squatting on the land became violent. Consequently, he suspended the project until the court case he inherited from Chief Alinta regarding the squatters’ presence and land ownership was resolved in favor of the Alinta family. After the court judgment, Prof. Nnaji attempted to restart his project in 2013. However, due to the intervention of the Catholic Bishop of the Enugu Diocese, The Most Reverend Dr. Callistus Onaga, DD, Prof. Nnaji paused his plans to restart the project on humanitarian grounds, allowing the squatters to indicate through the Church or their leaders their interest in either purchasing the land and remaining on it or vacating it peacefully. None took advantage of this offer for over eleven years. Over the years, the squatters resorted to threatening the landowner’s workers, culminating in the 2023 murder of Mr. Sunday Ozoemena, a contractor hired to construct the perimeter fence around the area. Mr. Ozoemena had been advising his kinsmen against their obstinacy and violent actions. His murder is still under police investigation. These developments have not deterred Prof. Nnaji or Bishop Onaga from showing patience and compassion towards the squatters, especially when some of them revealed to their Parish Priest that they had been misled and defrauded by some members who had "sold" the land to them. With Bishop Onaga’s intervention, the squatters were given until August 10, 2024, to register their acceptance of Prof. Nnaji’s offer to pay for the land. Out of sheer magnanimity, Prof. Nnaji even informed the Bishop that he would provide a grant of up to N1 million to any squatters who had to move out. To simplify the process, the squatters were also asked to register with their Parish Priest in Onuogba, who had contacted Prof. Nnaji on their behalf. Interestingly, no one took this offer until the eviction exercise began two days ago. Instead, they insisted, without evidence, that the land is theirs, and the youths were threatening everyone with extreme violence in the guise of being ESN members. The fact remains that the squatters have never had any documents to support their ownership claim. The judiciary ruled on the land ownership in January 2013, and the squatters lost, as expected. Their claim that the land is their ancestral home is false, as they recently migrated from Ezza Nkomoro in Ebonyi State to the Onuogba Nike community. There must be a limit to impunity and blackmail. The squatters have taken undue advantage of Professor Nnaji’s magnanimity and concern for others. However, their continued stay on his property with impunity has delayed his project and the development of the land. After over eleven years of waiting for the squatters to do the right thing, Professor Nnaji has finally given up on them and taken all necessary legal and moral steps to reclaim his property and develop the project. We understand from key members of the group in Onuogba that the campaign against Prof. Nnaji is being sponsored by some individuals who had fraudulently sold Prof. Nnaji’s land to them. The Catholic Parish Priest in Onuogba, who has been intervening on their behalf, can be contacted for independent verification of the facts stated in this statement."

We are not participating in Anambra LGA elections, says LP The Anambra State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has disassociated itself from participating in the state local government council elections scheduled for September 28, 2024. In a statement jointly signed by Hon. Chinwuba Chidi, Chairman of Labour Party, Anambra East Local Government Council, and Hon. Aghadiuno Onyeka, Secretary of the Labour Party, Anambra East LGA, the general public is urged to disregard the list published by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) that includes names purportedly representing the Labour Party in Anambra East Local Government Area. The party clarified that the list did not originate from them as they have neither conducted any primaries to nominate candidates nor submitted any names to the Commission. They have called on the Commission to delist the names; otherwise, legal action will be pursued. The statement reads: "Labour Party Anambra East Local Government Area Chapter wishes to disassociate itself from participating in the September 28, 2024, Local Government election in Anambra State. The Labour Party Anambra State, through its rightful leadership, has issued a statement that we, as a party, are not participating in the forthcoming Local Government election in Anambra State. The general public is hereby informed to disregard the list published by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) as the names attached to the Labour Party in Anambra East Local Government Area do not originate from us. We have neither conducted any primaries to nominate anyone nor submitted any names to the Commission. Anyone dealing with these individuals does so at their own risk, as the Labour Party Anambra East LGA will not be held liable for any occurrences. We are calling on ANSIEC to remove the Labour Party's name from the poll. Failure to do so will compel us to take legal action against the Commission. This action by ANSIEC suggests a desperation to involve parties in an already compromised election. Those responsible for this are mischief-makers seeking to deceive the innocent and law-abiding citizens of Anambra East LGA and Anambra State. The Labour Party Anambra State is already in court challenging the election process and therefore will not be participating in the election. Forewarned is forearmed."it stated.

Poison: Ndi Igbo condemn selective application of actions, want Kingsley's probe The people of Eastern Nigeria have called on the Federal Government to immediately investigate a Nigerian based in Austria, Mr. Kingsley, for calling for the poisoning of Igbo children wherever they are. The lead counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, in a statement said it is regrettable that the Nigerian government quickly reached out to the Canadian government to investigate the outburst of Amaka Patience Sunnberger for reacting to Kingsley's call for the poisoning of Igbo children. He said that the Federal Government’s selective application of action has prompted the immediate call for an investigation into Kingsley call for poisoning of Igbo children. The statement reads: "The Federal Government of Nigeria’s prevailing selective action has necessitated our call for the immediate investigation of Mr. Kingsley, who is said to be based in Austria. Following the condemnable hate speech from Kingsley in Austria and the subsequent outburst by Amaka Patience Sunnberger in Canada, evidence shows that the Nigerian government had promptly and without delay reached out to the Canadian authorities to investigate Amaka. Further, if social media information is accurate, Amaka has been suspended from work while the investigation is ongoing. However, we have yet to see a similar action against Kingsley, who initiated the hate speech debate. It is equally important that the Nigerian government takes swift action regarding Kingsley, whose vile call for the poisoning of Igbo children on August 29, 2024, has shocked and horrified many, and equally prompted Amaka’s outburst. Therefore, I strongly urge the Nigerian government, especially Dr. Abike Dabiri, to engage with the Austrian government to ensure that Kingsley is thoroughly investigated and sanctioned accordingly for his reprehensible actions. He should have no place to hide. No individual should be allowed to incite violence or spread hatred with impunity. By taking firm and decisive action, we can send a clear message that hate speech and incitement to violence will not be tolerated, regardless of where they originate. This is even as we await an unreserved public apology from certain individuals who are now gainfully rewarded with lucrative political appointments at the Federal level, unbeknownst to many that it is the seed of hate speech they sowed against Igbos that is now germinating. Unfortunately, the evil fruits are being harvested not only within our shores but across the globe. Let us continue to stand united against all forms of hatred and work together to promote peace and harmony in our communities."

wicked to call for poisoning of Nigerian children of Igbo extraction- IPOB lawyer A human rights lawyer and led counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi kanu, Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor has described the call for the poisoning of Igbo children whereever they are found as an incitement to violence and affront to humanity. A Nigerian based in Austria, simply identified as Kingsley had in his Tik Tok urged Benin People of Edo State to poison Nigerian children of Igbo extraction where they are found . According to Ejiofor, such a call and statement is disturbing, callous and appalling. He said that no matter the deep grievance he may have against the Igbo, there is no justification for encouraging people to poison innocent Nigerian children of Igbo tribe. The statement reads: "My attention has been drawn to the attached viral post and I am deeply appalled and outraged by the utterances of "a man who identified himself as Kingsley, in a disturbing Tik Tok audio, encouraged Benin people of Edo State to poison Nigerian children of Igbo extraction." The said Kingsley, whose surname is still unknown is a Nigerian man based in Austria, on August 29, 2024, called for the poisoning of Igbo children wherever they are found. Such a vile and inhumane statement is not only a blatant incitement to violence but an affront to the very essence of humanity. No grievance, no matter how deep, can justify the call for violence against innocent children. This level of hatred and bigotry is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. While we understand that Amaka Patience Sunnberger’s recent hate speech was in direct response to this, responding to hate with more hate only escalates tensions . I urge all well-meaning individuals to stand against this rhetoric of violence and to promote peaceful dialogue and understanding. We must protect our children and ensure that they grow up in a world where they are valued and safe, regardless of their ethnic background. True resolution can only be achieved through peaceful means, such as dialogue and referendums, which allow for the expression of differing viewpoints in a constructive manner. By fostering open communication and respecting the will of the people, we can address grievances and build a more just and harmonious society"

Human Rights Activist Takes Journalists To Soludo’s Projects in Anambra Human Rights Crusader and Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, Comrade Osita Obi, has commended the developmental and transformational strides of Prof. Charles Soludo in Anambra State. According to Obi, the governor is doing wonderfully well in the state, but the public has not been given the opportunity to learn about these developments. He expressed concern that while Governor Soludo is achieving significant progress, this information is not reaching the public. Obi made this statement on Friday while conducting journalists on a tour of some of Soludo’s monumental completed and ongoing projects in the state. He said the governor has significantly transformed the state into a livable city and urged residents to support his second term bid to enable him to continue the good work he is doing. Obi said that Soludo has positively impacted the lives of people in the state through various projects aimed at improving well-being and development across all 139 communities and 21 local government areas. “Over the past two and a half years, he has performed admirably and deserves a second term to complete the process of good governance and showcase positive achievements across the three senatorial districts of the state. Soludo should be given another four years to continue the extensive work across the state. We have heard about the governor’s good work, but today we have seen it firsthand. These are wonderful and marvelous achievements that will leave a lasting legacy.” “I decided to bring you journalists here for a tour of the project sites as a private initiative to observe what is happening across the state. Sometimes, the government’s story differs from the citizens’ perspective. As a private citizen, I wanted to see things for myself and communicate the true state of affairs to Anambrarians. What I have seen is the real picture.” “Soludo is fantastic and wonderful, and I agree with that assessment. The only thing I am asking Anambrarians is to give him four more years. Let them not disrupt this process of radical transformation so that he can complete the ongoing programs,” he stated. He added that the tour was intended to celebrate the achievements of Anambra’s state government and the contributions of its people. Among the project sites visited during the tour were the six-kilometer Amansea-Awa-Ndukwuenu-Ufuma road, the Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Ugbeni-Awba-Ofemili road, and the ongoing construction of the Amansea-Ifite-Aroma overpass-Ekwueme-Government road, all in Awka North and South LGAs of the state. Other sites included the multi-billion-naira Government House Annex on 23 hectares of land with 2.3 kilometers of road and a 2-kilometer perimeter fence; the renovation of Ekwueme Square complex, including the state box, conventional seats, and entrance gates; and the Soludo Fun City complex in Awka, the state capital. A community leader from Awba-Ofemili town in Awka North Local Government Area, Mr. Ambrose Nweke, commended Governor Soludo for improving the community through extensive road infrastructure that has brought it into the limelight. “We thank Soludo for this road ,Amansea-Awba-Ofemili road, because a road represents life and light. Conditions were terrible before now. This road was so impassable that vehicles could not drive through. We have other towns around us, like Umunumu, Ezeagu in Enugu State, Omor, and others that are now connected with us,” he stated. Also, Mr. Chinaedu Oraeki, a 47-year-old former Secretary General of Awba-Ofemili Community, said he had never seen such an asphalt road project in the area before. “I was born here, and the road conditions were terrible. I thank God today for the governor we have.” “This was not done because of our efforts but because of the governor’s benevolence. We thank him and hope he will fulfill his promise to link us to Ayamelum Local Government. We believe he will do it because he built this road without any pressure on him; he did it voluntarily,” he stated. Oraeki mentioned that since the construction of the Awba-Ofemili road, many land speculators have come to their area. “Previously, it was hard to find commercial motorcyclists here, and if you did, it was difficult to pass through. Now, within five minutes, you will see motorcyclists and vehicles to take you wherever you need to go.”he stated.

Celebrating former DSS DG removal by staff, sign of colossal failure, tyrant Ifeanyi Ejiofor I have been observing the overwhelming jubilation seen in this video among the personnel of the State Security Service following the announcement of the new Director General and the sudden removal of the former DG, Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who held sway at the helms of affairs of the Service, since his appointment by Buhari administration on 14th September, 2018, till his unceremonious resignation on August 26th, 2024. The loud celebration marking the departure of this despot, signals the unceremonious end of an infamous tenure; an era marked by the most egregious violations of citizens' civil rights, disregard for constitutional orders, and blatant contempt for the rule of law. Under his leadership, the institution was operated as an entity separate from those established, defined and recognised by our existing laws. Also during his unpopular tenure, the Igbo people were particularly targeted, vilified, and subjected to enforced disappearances. Innocent individuals were ruthlessly hunted down, and many have been missing without a trace to this day. Under Bichi's watch, my PA- Samuel Okoro, was brutally murdered during a bloody invasion of my ancestral home, and three of my wards namely- Felix Okonkwo, Ikenna Chibuike and Okafor Lawrence Ugochukwu, were abducted in the dead of the night by those specifically assigned to carry out the hatchet assignment; they were briefly detained at the State Security Service headquarters in Abuja, and despite subsisting court orders, were secretly transferred to Wawa Barracks in Niger State, where they are currently held in solitary confinement in clear violation of successive orders of court. Today, thousands of Igbo men and women, young and old, are illegally detained in SSS custody under Bichi's command, denied the opportunity to be tried in any court of law. Welfare of the personnel of the Service was grossly undermined during this despotic tenure, no wonder the wild celebrations that greeted his unceremonious exit. While I do not condone or support those who commit heinous crimes against humanity under any guise, I have always maintained that such criminals should be carefully identified and dealt with according to the law. Based on the reputable track record of the current DG, he appears to be a true democrat — tested, trusted, and deserving of support and encouragement from every quarters. Although it will require significant political will and courage to clean up the mess left by his predecessor, but the unprecedented jubilation among the personnel suggests that he will succeed and succeed overwhelmingly. As a member of the human rights community, I believe Mr. Adeola Ajayi should receive the full cooperation, respect, and support necessary to succeed, especially during these challenging times when insecurity is rampant across all spectrums of the Nigerian state. I respectfully appeal to the incoming DG to use the machineries of his good offices to profile those wrongfully arrested and still detained illegally, and to order for their immediate and unconditional release. We pray that the current DG will succeed and surpass all expectations. Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq. (KSC) is an Abuja based human Rights lawyer

IPOB Lawyer Urges S/E Govs To Take Action on Enforced Disappearances in Zone Lawyer for the Indigenous People of Biafra and their detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on the governors of the Southeast states to take immediate action regarding the disappearance of Igbo individuals in the region. Ejiofor, in a statement on Thursday titled "Enforced Disappearance of Southeast Residents - A Harrowing Crisis Our Politicians Continue Willfully Ignore, Especially Those Currently Campaigning for Election in 2027," expressed dismay that the political leadership of the zone is more focused on campaigning for the 2027 elections than addressing the issue of military abductions in the Southeast. He noted that concerns are escalating daily due to increasing calls from families of some of the victims. According to him, hundreds of elderly parents, brothers, and sisters are regularly taken by Nigerian security forces and disappear without a trace. He stated that Amnesty International has now corroborated their concerns about secret abductions and forced disappearances. They are calling on political leaders at all levels to denounce the state actors responsible for these crimes against humanity and demand an end to these grave infractions. The statement reads: "In a recent publication I made on July 21, 2024, I raised alarm over the shocking number of our people being abducted daily by state actors under the guise of combating rising insecurity in the Southeast. Hundreds of our elderly parents, brothers, and sisters are regularly taken by Nigerian security forces, disappearing without a trace. Our concern deepens with the increasing number of distress calls we receive daily from the families of some of these victims of enforced disappearance. It is especially troubling that the relatives of these victims can no longer determine their status, whereabouts, or even whether they are still alive. The reason for their arrest remains unknown, further compounding the agony for their families. Unfortunately, this alarming trend has not been met with the public outcry and condemnation it deserves, particularly from those who claim to represent us in high political offices. Instead, some of these officials, seemingly absorbed by the privileges of their positions, are preoccupied with preparation for the 2027 election cycle. Now that Amnesty International has stepped in to corroborate our concerns about these secret abductions and forced disappearances, we call on our political leaders at all levels to denounce the state actors responsible for this crime against humanity and demand an end to these grave infractions. We have also suggested in our various discussions that security agents have the capacity to identify their targets and apprehend the actual threats, yet they continue to target ostensibly innocent and harmless citizens. These innocent individuals are then transported to unknown locations where they may be either killed or indefinitely detained without any trace. Wawa Military Barracks in Niger State, for instance, is currently holding an outrageously high number of innocent Igbos who have been detained indefinitely, with no hope of freedom in sight. I am urging the governors of the Southeast states to take immediate action and use the machinery of government to address this rising trend. Enough is enough!"

He revealed that the community plans to provide N100 million to women, with the condition that anyone whose child is a cultist will not benefit from this money. The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Obono Itam, said that the police cannot work alone and that communities are essential for effective policing. Obono, represented by ACP Eneke Eyo, commended the Ezinano for their initiative, noting that the current situation is concerning. You're not in tune with reality on ground, IPOB lawyer tells Rep Kalu Titus Maduako Eleweke A human rights lawyer and counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has criticized Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, over his comment about the All Progressives Congress (APC) taking over Abia State in 2027. Ejiofor described Kalu's comment as a mere daydream. In a statement issued on Monday, Ejiofor said that Kalu's remarks in a trending video clearly show that he is disconnected from the people of Abia State, his home state and the reality on the ground. In the video, Hon. Benjamin Kalu stated that he cannot be the sixth citizen of the country while the Labour Party (LP) governs his state. He asserted that this would be the last time an LP governor would lead Abia State. "This is the last time an LP governor will govern Abia. I say this without missing words; the next governor of Abia State must be APC. I will never be the number six citizen of the country while another party governs my state. By 2027, an APC governor will be in office. I have told the governor in person and publicly; we are friends. How it will happen, I don’t know, but I am confident because we are working hard in Abia State. I am confident because my government is working hard to bring development to Abia State; the president is also working hard and will be retained. The president who allows dividends of democracy in Abia State will be retained. We are not ungrateful people in Abia State. APC will not help the state to be strong, and LP will take the credit" he stated. Reacting, Ejiofor said the trending video highlights the extent of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu's desperation. He stated that Kalu's comments show he is completely disconnected from the realities in his home state. "I can assure you that he will struggle to retain his mandate come 2027, which is the obvious consequence of the present macabre dance. Abians, who are currently enjoying the unprecedented dividends of good leadership, will definitely make their voices heard come 2027, provided their votes count again. By that time, the Deputy Speaker will realize he has been daydreaming. He needs to wake up from his slumber and prepare for the challenges ahead! Ndi No 6 citizens on paper; Akuko uwa! Abians deserve leaders who understand their struggles and are truly connected to the pulse of the people," Ejiofor said.

Prof. Bart Nnaji to Grace Igbo New Yam Festival in the USA The Igbo community in Michigan will hold its Igbo Day and the first New Yam Festival in Detroit City on Saturday, August 17. The festival will feature “authentic Igbo cuisines, masquerades, cultural music, and a cultural competition,” according to Gabriel Ugwu, president of the Igbo Cultural Festival of Michigan (ICAM). Sponsored by Mabel Hotel in Asaba, headquarters of Nigeria’s Delta State, the 2024 ICAM will be held at the northwestern campus of Wayne County Community College, West Detroit. “We are fortunate to have as our special guest Professor Bart Nnaji, chairman of the Geometric Power Group and former Minister of Power,” observed Ugwu. “Nnaji, who has also served as Minister of Science and Technology, was officially named a Distinguished Professor of Industrial Engineering in the United States, becoming the first Black person to be so honored in American history. “Since he left the United States in 2004 to establish the Aba Independent Power Project at the request of then World Bank President James Wolfensohn and then Minister of Finance Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, now Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), to enable Aba to realize its full potential as a hub of indigenous technology, we could not have chosen a better person to serve as our special guest on this occasion than the globally respected industrial engineering professor who has already arrived from Nigeria.” According to sources at Geometric Power, Nnaji accepted the invitation because Detroit is synonymous with industrial engineering, his core area of expertise. “Detroit is the headquarters of General Motors, Ford Motors, and Stellantis, the three leading American auto manufacturers,” said the sources, who revealed that Nnaji is impressed that the organizers of the Igbo New Yam Festival in Michigan aim to blend technology and culture for Nigerians in the United States and those at home. The sources, who requested anonymity as they were not authorized to speak to the media on the issue, noted that Nnaji is intrigued by how Steve Jobs, co-founder and chairman of Apple Corporation, integrated his love of the arts with technology. Jobs studied calligraphy for six months at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, which influenced the distinctive aesthetics of Apple’s first computer in the late 1980s, giving Macintosh a significant competitive edge. Jobs’ fascination with music led to the development of iTunes, which revolutionized technology and the music industry worldwide. “One important lesson Nigerians should take from the 2024 ICAM is that culture, technology, and entrepreneurship must go hand in hand,” declared Ugwu.

Nigeria under serious threat , says IPOB lawyer ifeanyi Ejiofor Titus Maduako Eleweke The lawyer to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and indigenous people of Biafra Sir ifeanyi Ejiofor Esq has stated that within the ongoing activities in Nigeria,it is clear that the country is under serious threat. ifeanyi Ejiofor in statement he personally signed and issued on Friday said it is unfortunate that Nigerians are not paying attention to the danger awaiting to happen in the country. "We are no longer under any form of illusion that Nigeria’s sovereignty is under serious threat , amid mountain debt concerns. unfortunately Nigerians are not paying commensurate attention to this impending disaster . On August 15, 2024, three presidential aircraft undergoing maintenance in Paris were temporarily seized in strict compliance with a court order. What an international disgrace! The unfortunate reality is that with the Nigerian government's growing habit of excessive and reckless borrowing, it is increasingly likely that we may one day wake up to find Nigeria’s assets and the entire Nigerians tied to foreign judgments. It is only a matter of time!" he stated.

3-Man Committee Stalls Court Execution Order in Anambra Electronics Market Titus Maduako Eleweke It was a dramatic scene on Wednesday when Ifechi Anozie, armed with an execution order from Atani High Court in Anambra State, attempted to enforce a judgment against the three-man committee of the Electronics Dealers Association in Onitsha. This committee was accused of collecting non-government revenue. The situation could have escalated into violence but was defused by the presence of police officers from Zone 13 and Okpoko police station. Anozie had taken legal action against the three-man committee—comprised of Chief Donatus Obi, Mr. Benjamin Anyawu, Mr. Nnameka Nwama, and Mr. Izuchukwu Okoye—and the Registered Trustees of the Electronics Dealers Association Onitsha. He challenged their authority to collect administrative levies from electronic dealers, arguing that their mandate was limited to government revenue collection. On July 26, 2024, the court ruled in Anozie’s favor, prohibiting the committee from collecting anything beyond government-generated revenues like taxes and development levies. According to the court’s judgment, the committee was appointed solely for collecting government revenue and was restricted from collecting administrative fees for services such as electricity, security, and sanitation. After a failed attempt to execute the court order by taking possession of the administrative office, Anozie expressed frustration over the committee’s blatant disregard for the court's directive. He detailed how the committee members had obstructed the bailiffs and police from executing their duties, claiming they had obtained a stay of execution order, which the bailiffs disputed, stating they had not been served any such order. Anozie reported that the committee members, along with their supporters, resisted the police and bailiffs and threatened violence. This resistance prevented the execution of the court order to avoid further disorder in the market. Anozie emphasized that the court action was meant to ensure peace and order in the market. He further revealed that he had received threats to his life from the committee members and promised to report these threats to the police. Anozie indicated that he would consult his lawyer for further legal action, including potentially seeking the issuance of Form 48 and 49.

IPOB Lawyer 'Ejiofor' Warns FG Against Counter-Subversion Bill 2024 in Nigeria Lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor Esq, has warned against the covert move by the Nigerian House of Representatives to introduce the Counter-Subversion Bill 2024. Ejiofor, in a statement titled "The Proposed Counter-Subversion Bill 2024: A Proposed Draconian Bill Roundly Persisted by the Free World and Responsible Citizens," said that social media platforms and print media are abuzz with news of the House of Representatives' plan to introduce the Counter-Subversion Bill 2024, which he described as anti-human and anti-freedom. According to him, the proposed bill primarily seeks to impose stringent penalties on individuals involved in separatist agitation or actions that incite inter-group or sectional conflicts. He noted that without delving into an extensive discussion of the bill's constitutionality, it is crucial to observe that the proposed bill represents a dangerous version of an authoritarian anti-people law and should be vehemently condemned and resisted. "Apart from the fact that the law sought to be enacted directly confronts relevant sections of Chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, it is, ex facie, in direct violation of relevant provisions of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights (Ratification & Enforcement) Act (Cap A9), Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. This law has been ratified and is accordingly part of our laws today, effectively enjoying the pronouncements of our courts, including the Supreme Court. Specifically, Article 20 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which has been applied in Nigeria by virtue of its domestication as part of our laws, clearly provides that all people shall have the right to existence; they shall have the unquestionable and inalienable right to self-determination. They shall freely determine their political status and pursue their economic and social development according to the policies they have freely chosen," he said. According to Ejiofor, Nigerian law recognizes the right to self-determination as inalienable and sacrosanct. He added that to properly understand the dubious intentions behind the introduction of the proposed bill, one should consider the mischief, if any, which the House of Representatives set out to address — this mischief may have necessitated the introduction of the draconian bill. "A simple analysis will reveal the unfortunate reality that the Federal Government is recklessly trying to stifle and suffocate dissenting voices from relatively marginalized sections of the country. It is therefore a positive development that the Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives has withdrawn the proposed draconian bill, as they initially attempted to introduce it covertly. If the proposed anti-people bill had been allowed to stand, it would have marked our gradual descent towards a fully authoritarian regime where the voices of the oppressed can no longer be heard or tolerated. Rest assured, we will not hesitate to challenge any attempt to craftily introduce laws that infringe on the constitutionally guaranteed rights of citizens by those elected to represent their interests in the National Assembly," he said.

IPOB Lawyer Demands President Tinubu Sanction Onanuga Over #IgboMustGo Statement Titus Maduako Eleweke The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) lawyer, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has questioned why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not taken action against his aide, Bayo Onanuga, for the #IgboMustGo statement made in the South West. In a statement on Monday, Ejiofor suggested that President Tinubu should initiate the process by instructing Onanuga to review and delete these offensive posts and issue a public apology to Ndi Igbo. According to Ejiofor, only if the President orders the removal of these provocative statements from social media will the Igbo community start taking seriously any measures the presidency claims to implement for their safety in Lagos State. He noted that social media has not forgotten Onanuga's vituperative and ethnically charged statements against the Igbo community, which are still visible for the world to see. Ejiofor highlighted that Onanuga, who currently serves as a Special Adviser to President Tinubu, is promoting divisive rhetoric that influences others. He expressed concern that the threats made by Onanuga, which seem to be endorsed by those in power, could escalate into full-scale violence if not addressed promptly. The statement reads: "As the situation intensifies and the reality of a looming conspiracy becomes apparent, it is crucial to address the facts with clear evidence. The mastermind behind the #IgboMustGo movement may not be acting alone in this sinister agenda. One might question the role played by Bayo Onanuga in Tinubu's rise to the presidency during the 2023 General Election campaign and thereafter. Social media has not forgotten Onanuga's vituperative and ethnically charged statements against the Igbo community, which remain visible. Onanuga, currently serving as a Special Adviser to President Tinubu, is promoting divisive rhetoric that affects many. Onanuga's threats to the Igbo community in Lagos, warning of severe consequences if they did not vote for Tinubu, led to physical attacks, killings, and destruction of Igbo properties under the pretext of violating the city's master plan. These threats, seemingly endorsed by those in power, could escalate into violence if not addressed immediately. I strongly believe this is a carefully planned agenda and urge our Igbo brothers and sisters in Lagos to remain vigilant. This conspiracy seems to have the backing of those in power and should not be underestimated. The pressing question for President Tinubu is why Onanuga has not been required to apologize to the Igbo community and retract his existing threats. Why do his inflammatory comments from the election period remain on his social media platforms 18 months later? President Tinubu should begin by instructing Onanuga to review and delete these offensive posts and issue a public apology to Ndi Igbo. Only then will the Igbo community start to take seriously any measures the presidency claims to implement for their safety in Lagos State. To the Igbo community in Lagos, stay alert and do not underestimate this grave conspiracy. Although its execution may be challenging, our resilience will prevail. The Igbo people are not cowards; they have been tested and proven. History and posterity will judge us kindly. Udo diri Umuigbo worldwide."

Opinion: Why Igbos Should Stop Following Reno Omokri on Social Media Ifeanyi Ejiofor A renowned content creator whose major source of sustenance is from the financial gains he repeatedly records from your reactions on his Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), controversial/unfounded claims. Reno deliberately crafts insulting, derogatory, and disdainful posts targeting the Igbos, in his relentless ethnic baiting against Igbos, and the person of Peter Obi. Why? Because he knows that by provoking you, he can drive up traffic and engagement on his posts. Your comments and engagements will inevitably promote his business by sustaining traffic and popularity on his platforms which will make way for steady returns on his chosen career, which usually runs into millions of Naira and USD. And to your estimation, you think that a man who earns this outrageous sum will change pattern, he cannot unless YOU STOP HIM. His strategy is simple: manipulate your emotions to increase his content’s reach and revenue. By constantly engaging him to possibly dislodge his often deliberate falsehood, you become an enabler of his intentions and flourishing business. He is not a patriot in the affairs of this Nation, it is only for business enterprise. Here is what you can do to stop Reno and his business: - Ignore his provocations. Silence speaks volumes. - Unfollow him. Do not give him the satisfaction of your attention. - Spread the word. Let others know how he operates. As an Igbo Man, you hold the power. Use your brain and stand together to diminish his influence. Let this message go viral and take back control from those who exploit our community for their gain. Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq. PRESIDENT TINUBU’S HYPOCRISY ON THE #IGBOMUSTGO THREATS If the presidency is genuinely concerned about the serious threats to the safety of the lives and properties of Igbos in Lagos State, associated with the inflammatory hashtag, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should without further ado, dismiss @BayoOnanuga from his cabinet. It is contradictory to keep the originator, Chief promoter and main advocate of ethnic baiting against Igbos in the government, especially when he has repeatedly expressed his deep-seated animosity towards the Igbos and even suggested their expulsion from Lagos, without any reprimand. He was rather rewarded with an appointment by the Tinubu-led Government. It is easily understandable that this faceless group are mere mentees and advocates of Bayo Onanuga’s long held philosophy on ethnic hatred against Igbos. Following the turn out of events, the Igbos may need to take control of their fate and prepare for tougher times ahead. Only time will reveal the outcome. In these trying times, the resilience and unity of the Igbo community are paramount. Standing together and supporting one another will be crucial in overcoming these challenges and ensuring a future of peace and equality. Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq. August 07, 2024

Ned Nwoko urged to refrain self from Akpoma-OgbeOzoma Land Dispute Intervention Ogbeozoma community, Okpanam, in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, has appealed to Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta South Senatorial District, to cease misleading the public with his claims of intervening in the land dispute between Akpoma and Ogbeozoma communities. In a letter to Senator Nwoko, signed by its lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, titled "Re: Delta Senator, Ned Nwoko Prevails in Land Dispute Between Akpoma and Ogbeozoma Communities: Request to Refrain from Further Misleading and Contemptuous Publication with Respect to Above Subject," the community urged the Senator to stop deceiving the public with his claims of intervention. The letter noted that there are two subsisting pending court cases before the Delta State High Court involving the parties Nwoko purportedly presides over, and that proceedings have fully commenced: 1.OBI DR. VICTOR NWOKOBIA & 2 ORS (for themselves and as representing members of Ogbeozoma Community of Okpanam) vs. MR. AGBA ARINZE & 2 ORS (for themselves and as representing members of Akpoma Quarters of Iselle-Azagba)** in Suit No: HCI/23/2021, holding before Iselle-Uku Judicial Division, Onicha-Ugbo, Delta State. 2. EKWE OGIDI INTEGRATED RESOURCES LTD vs. FRED AJUDUAH & 5 ORS, also pending before the same court at the same Judicial Division in Suit No: HCI/6/2024. This case includes an incident in May 2024, when Ogbeozoma community was invaded by thugs, allegedly led by Ekwe Ogidi. The letter further stated that the community had published a rejoinder to refute the falsehoods conveyed in an earlier publication. It also noted that the Inspector General of Police has ordered an immediate investigation into the invasion, with arrests made and useful statements obtained from the suspects. The community requested that Senator Nwoko avoid interfering with the ongoing police investigation and emphasized that only the Committee set up by the Executive Governor of Delta State, led by the Deputy Governor, is authorized to mediate in the dispute between Ogbeozoma and Iselle-Azagba Quarters. The letter read: "We are solicitors to the Ogbeozoma community, hereinafter referred to as 'Our Client,' and on whose behalf and definite instruction, we respectfully wish to issue the following clarification and request that you refrain from further misleading the general public regarding your purported intervention in the aforementioned matter. BACKGROUND: Ogbeozoma Community (our client) is in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. Without prejudice to ongoing litigations challenging apparent acts of trespass by those you advocate for, it is important to clarify the situation for discerning members of the public, particularly unsuspecting vendors and buyers, who may be misled by the said media outing into transacting on any part of our client’s land. The Distinguished Senator is respectfully invited to note the following: There are two subsisting pending court cases before the Delta State High Court, involving parties you purport to be presiding over a meeting for. These proceedings have fully commenced: 1. OBI DR. VICTOR NWOKOBIA & 2 ORS (for themselves and as representing members of Ogbeozoma Community of Okpanam) vs. MR. AGBA ARINZE & 2 ORS (for themselves and as representing members of Akpoma Quarters of Iselle-Azagba) in Suit No: HCI/23/2021, holding before Iselle-Uku Judicial Division, Onicha-Ugbo, Delta State. 2.EKWE OGIDI INTEGRATED RESOURCES LTD vs. FRED AJUDUAH & 5 ORS**, also pending before the same court at the same Judicial Division in Suit No: HCI/6/2024. In May 2024, our client’s community was invaded by thugs, allegedly procured by Mr. Chinedu Okeke alias Ekwe Ogidi. During this attack, four young men were gruesomely murdered. The corpses remain in the mortuary while the police investigation continues. A publication dated 9th July 2024 in the Pointer newspaper was attributed to your office. Our client had since published a rejoinder to this apparent falsehood, requesting that your office refrain from misleading the public. On 22nd July 2024, Mr. Chinedu Okeke alias Ekwe Ogidi led another gang of thugs, armed with prohibited firearms, in an attack on our client’s community, resulting in extensive property damage. Some gang members were apprehended, including those in police uniforms. One police officer was fatally shot and remains hospitalized. The Inspector General of Police has directed an immediate investigation into this act. The investigation is ongoing, with arrests made and useful statements obtained. Our client is concerned that the publication dated 6th August 2024 may be an attempt to derail the police investigation into Mr. Chinedu Okeke's activities or an act of shielding offenders. Therefore, we respectfully request that you avoid involvement in any conspiracy that could interfere with legitimate police investigations. Additionally, it should be noted that a Committee, headed by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, was established to mediate the land dispute between our client and Iselle-Azagba Quarters. This Committee is the only one with state authority and court permission to intervene in the matter. Your purported Committee is unknown to our client and exists only in the media and the imagination of Ekwe Ogidi, who is currently seeking refuge. We urge you to counsel Mr. Chinedu Okeke to surrender to the police to clear the serious allegations against him. PRAYERS AND CONCLUSION: Our client reaffirms their belief in the Rule of Law and confidence in the state’s authority to resolve disputes justly. The police investigation into the murders and the violent attacks on our client’s community should proceed without interference. We respectfully request that you refrain from misleading publications that could damage your office's reputation and appear to support the nefarious activities of Mr. Chinedu Okeke. In anticipation of your cooperation, may the Distinguished Senator accept the assurances of our deepest regards."

Igbo People Face Unique Challenges Requiring Attention, Support from Leaders Ifeanyi Ejiofor In a recent viral video, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of Nigeria's House of Representatives, stated, “IGBOS SHOULD SIT-AT-HOME AND NOT JOIN THE #ENDBADGOVERNANCEPROTEST BECAUSE THEY WILL BE SLAUGHTERED IF THEY PARTICIPATE.” MY THOUGHTS: I find this statement from a prominent Igbo political figure deeply concerning, as it essentially sought to encourage Igbos to waive their constitutionally guaranteed rights. If Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu had advised Igbos to refrain from participating in the #EndBadGovernanceProtest for any reason other than the fear of being slaughtered, I would not have criticized him as harshly, nor would many others who think critically. For those of us who analyze such statements, the implications of this reckless remark highlight the precarious status of Igbos in Nigeria, now seemingly acknowledged and cowardly reinforced by their political leaders – individuals who should be vigorously combating the longstanding injustices faced by their people. Historically, Igbos across Nigeria have been victims of violence during times of crisis or protest, often at the hands of fellow citizens and even Nigerian security forces, who are meant to protect them. It is alarming that today, our innocent mothers, sisters, and brothers are routinely abducted across southeastern states and consequently whisked away under the guise of hunting for criminals, without any significant public outcry, and our political leaders remain silent or feign ignorance of this brazen violation of the rights of Igbos. I have consistently argued that security forces are aware of the locations and identities of the criminals wreaking havoc in our communities and should be capable of identifying these targets and apprehending them. Instead, they target vulnerable individuals based solely on tribal identification, leading to their enforced disappearances. Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, hailing from Abia State, should have firsthand knowledge of the hundreds of innocent Biafrans abducted during military operations in the state and still being abducted till tomorrow. This is a critical moment for him to speak out against such acts and advocate for the release of those wrongfully arrested during the exercise and still held in unknown captivities. I cannot, under any circumstances, support or condone the violent criminals who are terrorizing our land, abducting Biafrans, and killing Biafrans/security operatives. This represents a grave crime against humanity and must be condemned. However, it is essential to ensure that innocent individuals are not punished for crimes they did not commit. While Igbos are certainly not immune to the economic hardship currently bedeviling the entire nation, the Southeast region has endured both criminal and security siege for the past three years, which has likely contributed to their reluctance to participate in the #EndBadGovernanceProtest. The notion that they would be slaughtered for exercising their constitutional right to protest is an unfortunate reality. However, for such a statement to proceed from someone who should be leading the fight against these injustices/scourge is, at the very least, profoundly condemnable. Adding to this alarming scenario, a recent tweet from the Lagospedia Twitter handle on July 27, 2024, has exacerbated tensions. The tweet called for a massive protest, #IgboMustGo, scheduled from August 20th to 30th, 2024, urging Igbos to leave the southwestern states and relocate their businesses. It also asked Yorubas living in the southeast to return home. Such statements only serve to deepen the divide and perpetuate the cycle of violence and discrimination against the Igbo community. This call for expulsion is not just an attack on the Igbos but a serious security threat to lives and properties of all igbos across the Nation. It underscores the urgent need for our political leaders to address these issues with the seriousness and commitment they deserve. The continuous marginalization and endangerment of the Igbo people within Nigeria's socio-political landscape is a grave injustice that must be urgently addressed. Our leaders must rise above parochial interests and work towards addressing this ethnic profiling. The consistent promotion of ethnic baiting against igbos must stop, and the time is now! Soludo Urges Non-Indigenes to Contribute to Security in Anambra Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, has called on non-Indigenes in the state to assist in combating insecurity. He made this appeal on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Association of Non-Indigenes in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. Represented by Barr. Titus Akpudo, President General of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Soludo emphasized that tackling insecurity is a collective responsibility. He urged tribal leaders to use their influence to encourage their communities to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities. "Use your position to guide your people and advise them against actions that could tarnish your tribe's reputation," "I also appeal to you to leverage your leadership to support the government’s efforts in ensuring the safety of everyone in the state."he said. The governor further encouraged non-Indigenes to back the government's policies, highlighting that opposing these policies could hinder peaceful coexistence. He urged them to live harmoniously with the local population and other tribes in the state. "Feel free to live in Anambra State as ordinary citizens so that you are not unfairly profiled as criminals or troublemakers. It is crucial for maintaining the synergy within the state," he added. In his address, Prince Chigozie Nweke, President of the Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State (ANIAS), explained that the event's purpose was to inaugurate the Elders Council. This body comprises experienced leaders from various geopolitical zones and ethnic groups residing in the state. The Elders Council is tasked with guiding both the executive and members of ANIAs. Nweke noted that the council's establishment is crucial given the current challenges and the allegations that non-Indigenes are contributing to insecurity in Anambra. "These Elders are well-respected leaders and title holders within their communities, known to both government and security agencies. They possess the authority to address and prevent criminal activities."he stated. He also highlighted that ANIAs has successfully united residents from all 35 states under one umbrella, with membership continuing to grow. The association aims to operate under principles of law, justice, equity, transparency, and good leadership. Additionally, ANIAs seeks to foster peaceful relations between non-Indigenes and their host communities in Anambra and to promote the diverse cultural, religious, and traditional heritage of the various ethnic groups represented in the state.

Court Judgment on 3-Man Committee: A Soothing Balm for the Electronic Market in Anambra Titus Maduako Eleweke The recent judgment by the Anambra State High Court in Atani, Onitsha, ordering a three-man committee at the Onitsha Electronic Market to focus solely on government revenue, is poised to restore peace and harmony in the market. The market has long been marred by leadership crises, leading to numerous court battles. Mr. Ifechi Anozie challenged the authority of the three-man committee, which had been set up by the government to collect taxes. Anozie argued that the committee had no mandate to collect Union funds or manage Union affairs. In its ruling on Wednesday, the court ordered that the three-man committee could only collect government revenue, including taxes and development levies, and was prohibited from collecting Union-related monies, such as those for security, electricity, and environmental needs. The court also directed that the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the market to assume control of market administration until new executives are elected. Speaking on the development, Mr. Ifechi Anozie, also known as IfyGod Electronics, described the judgment as a welcome relief that would heal past wounds and advance the development and peace of the electronic dealers' association in Onitsha. "I commend the Atani High Court for delivering justice and providing a fair hearing for the Onitsha Electronics Dealers Association. The market has suffered since the elected executive's term expired in July 2022. The court’s decision on July 26, 2024, benefits the market greatly. I thank the High Court and the judiciary for upholding the rights of the common man and showing that justice is achievable," Anozie said. He also thanked the Anambra State government for accepting the judgment and urged market members to comply with the court’s order by paying the government taxes and development levies, currently set at N17,500. He emphasized that the court's ruling mandates the three-man committee to manage only government taxes as directed and allows the BoT to handle market leadership in the interim. Hon. Chuks Onyeizugbe, a former Special Adviser to the former Governor Chief Willie Obiano on political matters and an electronic dealer in the market, criticized those who deceive the government. He claimed that misinformation from certain individuals in Awka has led to misguided government actions. Onyeizugbe expressed concern over the market's deterioration due to fraud and mismanagement and urged the BoT to collaborate with the government to rectify the situation. "The market is deteriorating because some people are misleading government officials in Awka. The market, built by contributions from multiple states, is suffering because of these deceitful actions. I urge the BoT to take charge and work with the government. The governor is doing well, but some individuals are tarnishing his efforts," Onyeizugbe said. He called on Governor Charles Soludo to personally investigate the market's issues, noting that current revenues are significantly less than potential earnings. Nkem Okoli, chairman of Freedom Line, echoed support for the court's judgment, believing it would restore peace and address the market's prolonged conflicts. He affirmed their commitment to paying all required taxes and development levies, despite the current high rates, in support of the governor's efforts. The judgment, therefore, represents a crucial step toward resolving the market’s issues and promoting stability and fairness in its administration.

Sheriff Francis Oboreveori, The Executive Governor of Delta State, Delta State Government House, Asaba, Delta State. His Excellency Sir, PETITION ON A CASE OF MURDER, ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIRE ARMS, MALICIOUS DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, BLOODY INVASION OF OGBEOZOMA COMMUNITY OKPANAM IN OSHIMILI NORTH L.G.A. OF DELTA STATE AND FATAL SHOOTING OF POLICE PERSONNEL, BY DEADLY CRIMINAL GANG SPONSORED AND LED BY ONE MR. CHINEDU OKEKE A.K.A. EKWE OGIDI- A NOTORIOUS LAND GRABBER IN ASABA. We are Solicitors to Ogbeozoma Community, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, whom we shall hereinafter refer to as “Our Client” and on whose definite and firm instruction we most respectfully petition for His Excellency’s deserving intervention to ensure that the above heinous crime is thoroughly and comprehensively investigated to avoid a reoccurrence. It is our instruction that Mr. Chinedu Okeke who is the ring leader of a criminal group that specializes in land grabbing, kidnapping and killing of persons perceived as their targets, within Asaba metropolis is the Managing Director of EKWE OGIDI INTEGRATED RESOURCES LIMITED and who equally doubles as the owner of the GOLDEN TULIP HOTEL ASABA. We were further informed that our client's peaceful community was at the wee hours of 22nd day of July, 2024, invaded by deadly criminal/terror gang who were heavily armed to the teeth with all forms of prohibited firearms, led by one Chinedu Okeke, a.k.a Ekwe Ogidi. It is our Client’s instruction that these brutal gang came in with about 15 hilux vehicles and were all fully loaded with persons who were not only wielding sophisticated weapons ranging from AK-47, AK-49, daggers, machetes and all other forms of charms, but were equally fully kitted in various Special Police uniforms. It is our further instruction that during this bloody attack on our client's peaceful community, security agents on duty were not spared by the invading assailants, while some civilians were equally brutally assaulted/wounded and properties worth billions of naira belonging to our client’s Tenants were completely destroyed, with the aid of earth moving equipment the assailants came along with to facilitate swift execution of their deadly and nefarious mission. However, luck ran out of a few members of these criminal gang when the last batch of their vehicles could not speedily leave the scene of the crime before policemen on rescue mission blocked them and in the ensuing argument, they opened fire on a policeman and fatally shot his left leg, before they were fully disarmed and arrested. The gallant policemen were able to recover few vehicles left behind by the invading criminals, which included two hilux vans, and earth moving equipment used in the said deadly operation, as can be seen from the attached pictures. We were further informed that one of Ekwe Ogidi's henchmen who was also arrested during this deadly operation had since confessed to the commision of the crime and the involvement of Ekwe Ogidi in the operation and has continued to donate useful information to the investigating authorities in Police Headquarters Asaba, Delta State where those arrested are presently undergoing thorough questioning by the police, while the wounded policeman is still under intensive care in an undisclosed hospital where a team of doctors are battling to save his life. It is our further instruction that Ekwe Ogidi who was the ring leader of these assailants narrowly escaped from the crime scene, and is presently exploring all his high powered contacts within the Police High Command in Abuja to stop his arrest. Information available at our disposal suggests that all efforts made by the Delta State Police Command to arrest Chinedu Okeke alias Ekwe Ogidi has been futile, as he is presently in Force Headquarters moving from one office (monitoring team department) to another in search of safe haven and has refused to honour police invitation in Delta State. We were informed that this latest bloody attack on our client's peaceful community makes it two consecutive recorded bloody onslaught on our client’s community. Each of these bloody attacks, is led by Chinedu Okeke's terror gang and in every brutal attack, innocent lives are lost in their numbers. A case currently under the police investigation, before the Delta State Police Command Headquarters was the brutal killing of four security men by Chinedu Okeke's led criminal gang, specifically in June 2024. The corpses of these victims of Chinedu Okeke's led heinous attack, are still deposited in the morgue while police is progressing with the investigation, before this latest attack. It is our solemn appeal that this latest attack should not be treated as an isolated case, it is rather an attack too many, deserving of immediate decisive action by the Executive Governor as the activities of Mr Chinedu Okeke is a serious threat to the security of the sate and by extension, National Security. It is unheard of that in a civilized society, a mere land grabber who has gained notoriety for violent crimes will be perpetuating heinous crimes such as murder of security agents, and police will still be giving protection to the said person. It is crystal clear that Chinedu Okeke is a threat to civilized society and by extension National Security of the country, who must be decisively dealt with by the intelligence community no matter whose ox is gored. Chinedu Okeke is largely considered a sacred cow in Asaba and its environs who can commit any form of crime and go scot free. Evidence abounds to show his involvement in violent crimes. Vehicles recovered from the invaders in this latest attack all belong to Chinedu Okeke, and his personal driver who was equally arrested has openly confessed in the attached clip and equally to the police as being sent by Chinedu Okeke alias Ekwe Ogidi. The victim of their latest bloody attack is a policeman who was shot in the line of duty. If we may then ask, what other evidence does the police need to be enabled to reign in on Ekwe Ogidi? It is our instruction that Ekwe Ogidi is presently making frantic efforts to use his strong contacts within the Police high command in Abuja to prevail on the Delta State Police Command Headquarters to release the vehicles, sophisticated weapons recovered at the scene of the crime, including the criminals who shot a serving police officer. It is against the backdrop of the foregoing serious allegations that we most humbly crave for the expeditious intervention of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, in bringing these culprits to book. In anticipation of His Excellency’s speedy consideration of our complaint, may His Excellency accept the assurances of our deepest regards, Sir. Yours Faithfully, ............................................... Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq. (KSC) Chief Counsel/Principal Partner

Delta Community Urges IGP, Governor To Investigate Invasion Of Community The Ogbeozoma community in Okpanam, Delta State, recently experienced a violent invasion by armed criminals, allegedly led by Chinedu Okeke, also known as Ekwe-Ogidi. According to a statement issued and signed by Diokpa Egwuagu Joseph Aninye ,Diokpa Isi Okpanam / Ogbe Ozoma on behalf of Ogbeozoma Quarters on Thursday described the invasion as criminal. He said the attackers used prohibited firearms and earth moving equipment to inflict extensive damage, including injuring policemen and civilians and destroying property worth billions. Diokpa said fortunately, law enforcement managed to disarm and arrest several assailants, although Ekwe-Ogidi evaded capture. He said the incident marks the second brutal attack on Ogbeozoma by Ekwe-Ogidi and his gang, who are reportedly involved in land disputes and criminal activities, including the killing of security personnel. Accoding to him,the community is calling for a thorough investigation by the Inspector General of Police and the Governor of Delta State into these crimes. He said the community is emphasizing on the urgency of holding Ekwe-Ogidi accountable and preventing further attacks, stressing the need for justice and protection for their ancestral land. According to him, the community also highlights legal judgments supporting their claim to the land, asserting that Ekwe-Ogidi's actions are aimed at displacing them. He urged authorities not to allow political or personal influences to obstruct justice and request immediate intervention to ensure the safety and rights of Ogbeozoma residents. Diokpa said that the plea from Ogbeozoma is for swift and unbiased action from law enforcement and government authorities to address these criminal activities and safeguard their community from further attack. Statement reads: BLOODY INVASION OF ANCESTRAL LAND OF OGBEOZOMA COMMUNITY OKPANAM IN OSHIMILI NORTH L.G.A. OF DELTA STATE AND FATAL SHOOTING OF POLICE PERSONNEL, BY DEADLY CRIMINAL GANG LED BY ONE CHINEDU OKEKE- A NOTORIOUS LAND GRABBER IN ASABA AND THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF EKWE OGIDI INTEGRATED RESOURCES LIMITED WHO DOUBLES AS THE OWNER OF GOLDEN TULIP HOTEL ASABA; SOS TO THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE AND THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF DELTA STATE, TO DIRECT FOR A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION OF THE ABOVE HEINOUS CRIMES: The peaceful community of Ogbeozoma, Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State was at the wee hours of 22nd day of July, 2024, invaded by deadly criminal gangs who were heavily armed to the teeth with all forms of prohibited firearms, led by one Chinedu Okeke, a.k.a Ekwe-Ogidi. During this bloody attack on the peaceful community of Ogbeozoma, security agents on duty were not spared as policemen on duty were brutally shot with live ammunitions, while some civilians were equally brutally assaulted and properties worth billions of naira completely destroyed with earth moving equipment the assailants came along with for swift execution of their deadly and nefarious mission. However, luck ran out of these criminals when they were overpowered by superior powers of the well trained policemen on duty, who succeeded in disarming and arresting a number of these criminal gang members, including all the vehicles and earth moving equipment used in the said deadly operation, as can be seen from the attached pictures. Those arrested are currently providing useful information to the police Headquarters Asaba Delta State, while two policemen who were fatally wounded during this deadly attack are receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital. Ekwe-Ogidi who was the ring leader of these assailants narrowly escaped from the crime scene, and is presently exploring all his high powered contacts within the Police High Command to stop his arrest. This will make it the two consecutive occasions the peaceful community of Ogbeozoma was brutally attacked by Chinedu Okeke alias Ekwe-Ogidi and his criminal gangs. Their penultimate attack at an ungodly hours of the night resulted in the death of four security agents whose bodies are still being held in the morgue while police is progressing with investigation of the case, before this latest bloody attack that nearly claimed the lives of two gallant police officers. This should be a convenient time the Nigeria Police Force should take a bold step and direct unbiased/thorough investigation into the criminal activities of Chinedu Okeke who has been considered within the Asaba metropolis as a sacred cow, he must definitely account for his evil deeds and the hour is now. We are by this SOS, calling on the Inspector General of Police to direct for a thorough investigation into these heinous crimes, even as Ekwe-Ogidi is making frantic efforts to retrieve from the Delta State Police Command Headquarters, all the vehicles and sophisticated weapons, including caterpillars recovered from the assailants during this bloody attack. Ekwe-Ogidi is notorious for land grabbing in Asaba, even the state authorities are aware of his criminal antecedents/nefarious activities in Asaba and have done absolutely nothing to stop him and his criminal gangs, even when they are ceaselessly attacking and killing security agents any time this deadly attack is launched on the peaceful Ogbeozoma community. The hour has come for the Police High Command to investigate Ekwe-Ogidi and where prima facie case is established against him, make him to face the full wrath of the law, otherwise he will continue to launch bloody attacks on the peaceful community of Ogbeozoma. Chinedu Okeke alias Ekwe-Ogidi who purports to have been engaged by Ogbeozoma's neighboring community known as Iseeee-Azagba, to flush out the people of Ogbeozoma community from their ancestral land/home and take over their lands, is using every contacts at his disposal including his contacts with high echelon of security commands, in deploying all arsenals at his disposal to completely annihilate the entire Ogbeozoma community, it doesn’t matter to Ekwe-Ogidi and his cohorts, if hundreds of security men and civilians are killed in the process. It is the position of the Ogbeozoma community that Issele-Azagba people, were given land wherein they are resident today by Okpanam people (Ogbeozoma and Amachai). This fact is settled by the judgment of the High Court of Justice, Asaba Judicial Division delivered on the 28th day of June, 2000, by His Lordship Hon. Justice M. Umukoro in Suit No: A/12/86: GILBERT IGWEONWU (for himself and on behalf of Amachai family of Okpanam) Vs. OKAFOR NWANENE & 4 ORS (for themselves and on behalf of members of Ogbe-Utu Community of Issele-Azagba). The Akpoma Quarters of Issele-Azagba who are also the beneficiaries of the said judgment were given a land abutting the land belonging to Ogbeozoma community by Ogbeozoma quarters of Okpanam where they live and farm as their customary tenants. Ogbeozoma community is today living and occupying their ancestral land which has been clearly demarcated by the aforesaid judgement until Ekwe-Ogidi who is a notorious lang grabber was procured to unleash mayhem and displace the Ogbeozoma community, an evil undertaking which he has been unable to actualize till date despite his desperate and deadly efforts. We once again call on the Executive Governor of Delta State and the Inspector General of Police to immediately intervene to ensure that investigation into these heinous crimes is not compromised in any way, we want this matter to be throughly investigated and culprits charged to court where prima facie case is established. Thank you all. Signed: DIOKPA EGWUAGU JOSEPH ANINYE. DIOKPA ISI OF OKPANAM/ OGBE-OZOMA. CHIEF FELIX OKAFOR IKEJIANI 1 OKPANAM On behalf of Ogbeozoma Quarters 25/07/2024

Edozie Njoku not APGA national chair, South East leaders tells INEC Titus Maduako Eleweke The South East leadership of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has "vehemently rejected" Chief Edozie Njoku, as the National Chairman of the party. The South East leadership of the party also described the alleged recognition of Chief Edozie Njoku as national chairman by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as "a joke taken too far". APGA National Vice Chairman, South East, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, in a statement on behalf of the party's leadership in the zone, urged INEC, to quickly reverse the alleged recognition. Ehiemere said that Njoku was never a product of any APGA National convention, nor was he ever declared the national Chairman of the party by any court, hence, he should not be allowed to hijack the party's leadership through the back door. The zonal Vice Chairman further said that "Njoku's name cannot be found in any APGA membership register", wondering how a non APGA member would be allowed to parade as the party's national Chairman. According to Ehiemere Chief Sly Ezeokenwa who was elected at the APGA 2023 convention in Awka, remains the authentic National Chairman" of the party. He also stated that the party recognised Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State as APGA's national leader, and urged members of the public to ignore Njoku "and his co-travellers". He threatened to expose those sponsoring them to destabilize APGA, adding that their mission is dead on arrival. The statement read in part:"APGA leadership in the South East including the five state Chairmen and the entire stakeholders in the zone, vehemently rejects the purported declaration of Edozie Njoku and his alleged recognition by INEC as APGA National Chairman. " We call on INEC to as a matter of urgency, de-recognise him as purportedly declared by the court and hastily recognized by the commission. Let INEC revert to the authentic National Chairman of our great party, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa. " Edozie Njoku was never declared APGA National Chairman contrary to his claims. He has never been a product of any APGA National convention. His name cannot be found in any APGA membership register unless a fake register. " So, how will somebody who is not even a member of APGA suddenly begin to parade himself as the party's national Chairman? It's an aberration that must not be allowed! " South East APGA members and leadership will continue to resist his purported recognition by INEC until he is de-recognised. " We reaffirm our loyalty to the Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa -led National Working Committee, NWC, of our great party. We stand by him and he remains our authentic National Chairman. We also recognise Gov. Chukwuma Soludo as our national leader. We stand by him." The statement urged APGA members "nationwide and particularly in the South East, to remain calm and focused, and never to be distracted by the antics of Edozie Njoku and his allies, nor the unconstitutional action of INEC ". " We are aware that that there are some people funding Edozie Njoku, trying to destabilize and cause disaffection in the party particularly in Anambra State. We will mention them in our next media outing".

Prof Ibe calls for strict implementation of Supreme Court judgement on LGAs Titus Maduako Eleweke The Founder of Gregory University Uturu Prof Gregory Ibe has applauded the Supreme Court for giving financial impetus to the autonomy of Local Government Councils in Nigeria. The statement was made in a statement issued by his media aide Mr.Sleek Ogwo on Tuesday and made available to news men. Prof Ibe reacting on the last week's landmark judgement of the Supreme Court which reaffirmed the financial independence of the 774 Local Government Councils of Nigeria, commended the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, for his wisdom in "exploiting jurisprudence to deal with an apparently intractable political quagmire which has defied many years of amicable resolution. He also enjoined Prince Fagbemi to further strengthen the autonomy of the third tier of government by championing the call for the amendment of the constitution in order to alter the current practice of using state electoral commissions to conduct local government elections. According to him, the current practice confers undue advantage to the governors, who according to him, "use executive powers in installing their political stooges in the local councils thereby undermining the independence of the LGAs" Prof Ibe charged the Minister to work assidously with the National Assembly in amending the constitution to provide for the conduct of Local Government Council elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC). Citing personal experience, Prof Ibe outrightly blamed the near comatose state of activities in Local Councils on many years of financial emasculation by state governments. According to him, many private sector powered projects initiated by his Gregory Iyke Foundation were in the past endangered by the absence of credible grassroots administration at the council headquarters. He recalled his efforts to revive the arts, cultures and traditions of Abia by uniting the 17 Local Government Councils of the state through the organization of an annual cultural fiesta tagged Igbo "Uturu Cultural Carnival" in 2008. Prof Ibe decried the apparent lack of governmental partnership, especially by the leaderships of the appointed Transition Committees, thereby leading to the untimely death of the initiative in 2012. " While commending the Supreme Court for this landmark judgement, I want to specially thank the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN for his wisdom in exploiting jurisprudence to deal with an apparently intractable political quagmire which has defied many years of amicable resolution". " With this victory in the bag, let me further charge the Minister to work assiduously with the National Assembly in amending the constitution in order to provide a level playing field for all political stakeholders in the Local Government Areas. Subsequently, he should do everything to reduce to the barest minimum the control state Governors exert over local government elections, since the current practice affords them the opportunity of using executive powers in installing their political stooges in the local councils, thereby undermining the independence of the LGAs" he stated. According to him,"It is unfortunate that many Corporate Social Responsibility projects initiated by my Gregory Iyke Foundation suffered untimely deaths because of lack of partnership and governmental coordination by Local Government Councils. For instance, Igbo Uturu Cultural Carnival which we initiated in 2008 as a vehicle to revive, project and celebrate the unique cultures of the 17 Local Government Areas of our state couldn't survive beyond 2012 because of the absence of independently empowered administrations serving as collaborators and coordinating units at the council headquarters". He therefore implored political elites in Nigeria to "allow the local councils to breathe by ensuring the implementation of the Supreme Court judgement in order to guarantee expedited grassroots development in the 774 Local Government Areas of Nigeria.

Release Kanu to seperate genuine agitators from criminals, LP tells Tinubu Titus Maduako Eleweke South East House of Assembly caucus of Labour Party LP have joined other well meaning Nigerians to call for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. According to the Labour Party, South East caucus, the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will help to separate genuine agitators from criminals in the business of kidnapping. The LP in a communique signed by 11 lawmakers and read by the leader of LP caucus in South East, Hon.Jude umennajiego on Saturday said the dentetion is also encouraging criminal elements masquerading as agitators to commit crimes. “We therefore, lend our voices in appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to, as a matter of urgency, release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, so as to douse the current ravaging insecurity in the zone. This insecurity has grounded the economy of the region and has occasioned unprecedented loss of human lives as well as destruction of property. His release will act as a healing balm to the region and also encourage the feeling of oneness as a nation. Furthermore, it will separate genuine agitators from criminals in the business of kidnapping” it stated. It noted that LP South East House caucus also appealed to the Governors of South East Region and indeed the whole nation to work towards granting full financial autonomy to the State Houses of Assembly in accordance with the constitution and the Principles of Separation of Powers. According to the communique, granting full autonomy to state House of Assembly will go a long way in ensuring more robust assemblies, thereby enhancing their functionalities in the area of law making, oversight and other attendant legislative duties. ” Following the example of the Federal Government, it will deepen democracy in the states and ensure more quality and effective representation” it stated. It also urged the Federal Government to ensure the quick resolution of the current minimum wage impasse between the governments, organised private sector and Labour Unions. According to the communique, with the current economic reality and astronomical increment in the prices of goods and services, it would be wrong for the government not to hearken to the voice of the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC and Trade Union Congress TUC who represent the voice of the suffering masses. “Nigerians are in agony on account of the current harsh economic situation, and the worst hit appears to be the workers whose income is obviously not enough under current situation” it stated. The statement further said the recent hasty incarceration of Hon. Bright Ngene who was a candidate in a rerun election in Enugu state and prison sentence seemed to be politically motivated. ” We call on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to look into the case and ensure that justice is done. It is surprising that even when the community who are the complainants in the case opted to withdraw the case, the court still proceeded to trial and sentence him to jail in controversial and suspicious circumstance without giving room for the adoption of written addresses by the parties. We also appeal to the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency ensure that in accordance with the standing order of the House, the minority positions due to the Labour Party are given to them without further delay. You recall that recently, some Labour Party members decamped to the PDP, going along with them the minority leadership positions of the Labour Party in the house. Since you have only two parties in the house, It is only right that the Labour Party is now in the minority and should be entitled to their minority leadership positions. As the speaker, who is the father to all in the House, it is only right and just that the positions be returned to the Labour Party to ensure fairness and equity.Thank you gentlemen of the press”.it added.
