Four women and two men were today, arraigned by the police before Tinubu Chief Magistrate Court, for attacking, assaulting and blackmailing the popular Nollywood actress, Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal.

Those arraigned before Magistrate A. A. Paul, on the alleged offences were; Qudus Jokogbola; Suru Olawale; Edu Shakirat; Fausat Mohammed; Kafayat Ahmed and Opere Simiat Morenike.

The six defendants according to the police and two others said to be at large, committed the alleged offences on February 5, 2024, at about 1.30p.m, at Oba Akintoye Market, Lagos Island, Lagos State.

Upon the calling of the defendants into the dock and after their plea had been taken on the charges against them, Mr. Sola Samuel announced his appearance as prosecutor, while Barrister S. Ade. Oshodi and Barrister Ademola Olabiyi, announced

their appearance for the defendants and nominal complainant’s lawyer respectively.

On the charges against the defendants, the prosecutor, Mr. Sola Samuel, informed the court that all the six individuals and two others said to be at large, conspired among themselves and forcefully pushing and dragging Lizzy Anjorin, the action that caused her grievious bodily harm.

The prosecutor also old the court that the defendants’ actions caused a breach of public peace.

He told the court that the offences committed by the defendants contravened sections 411 and 413; 168(d) and 170(b) of the criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015. And punishable under the same Act.

Meanwhile, all the defendants denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following their not guilty plea, their lawyer, Oshodi, who led other six lawyers, informed the court that all his clients were market men and women.

He therefore urged the court to admit them to bail in the most liberal terms.

Responding to the lawyer’s request the prosecutor told the court that granting of bail is at court’s discretion. But said that the court should admit them to bail in terms and conditions that will ensure their attendance in court.

Magistrate Paul, in his ruling, admitted each of the defendants to bail in the sum of N200 000, 00 with one surety in like sum

The judge also ordered the sureties the must be residents of Lagos State with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government, among other.

Magistrate Paul however ordered that all the defendants be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS), till they meet the bail terms.

Temitope Osoba has recounted a traumatizing moment of sexual assault by a family member.



The upcoming Yoruba actress, who took a break from the industry, in an interview with Biola Bayo on her Talkshow, Talk to B, revealed that she moved out of her ‘toxic’ grandmother’s house to stay with her uncle. Unfortunately, things turned out worse for her, as her uncle was sexually assaulting her and making advances towards her.



According to her, the incident affected her career to some extent but she was able to bounce back and pick up the pieces of her life.



Elsewhere in the interview, Temitope revealed she suffered depression because of her inability to make ends meet. A member of the House of Representatives, RT Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, on Saturday urged members of his constituency to continue to support him in order to impact as many lives as possible.



Faleke (APC- Ikeja) made the appeal while speaking during an empowerment programme he organised for his constituents in Ikeja.



Over 5,000 members of the constituency benefitted from the programme.



Items such as Toyota Corolla, Hilux van, Tricycle, sewing machines, grinding machines ,mini-buses and other empowerment items were distributed to beneficiaries at the programme.



The lawmaker also distributed patrol vehicles to police stations in his constituency, distributed SUVs to traditional rulers and donated ambulances for the use of the various communities in Ikeja.

A veteran actor and dramatist, Jimi Solanke has passed on just 59 days to his 82nd birthday.

The folk singer, poet, and playwright who died on Monday, February 5, began his artistic journey as a pioneer member of the Orisun Theatre Group, founded by the renowned Wole Soyinka, in 1961.

His contributions to the global entertainment industry spanned seven decades, leaving an indelible mark on various platforms, from Western Nigeria Television in the 1960s to international festivals in Senegal and Algeria during the 1970s.

Solanke’s versatility shone through epic performances such as “Death and the King’s Horseman,” “Kurunmi,” “Kongi’s Harvest,” “The Divorce,” and “Ovaramwen Nogbaisi.”

The Oxford Times hailed him as a “Skilled Nigerian Actor,” and the New York Times recognized him as the star of an “Excellent Troupe” during a performance of Wole Soyinka’s “Kongi’s Harvest.”

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state who confirmed his death in a statement, condoled with the family, describing it as a colossal loss to the theatre community in the state.

Abiodun stated that the late Solanke had “consistently put the name of the state in the limelight for very good reasons, especially in the arts right from his days at the University of Ibadan School of Drama”.
