Willie2015:Our government is failing to focus on the right priorities. For instance, companies like Jubaili Agrotec (Global Alliance for Chemical) employ numerous Lebanese workers in Nigeria, yet these workers are paid directly into accounts in their home countries. Similarly, companies like Rite Foods pay their Pakistani workers overseas in their offshore account. These are funds that should be circulating within our economy but are instead being siphoned out. Policies must be implemented to address this issue. If foreign workers cannot earn in naira, they should return to their home countries. Additionally, as you rightly pointed out, large institutions should be encouraged to generate their own electricity. Solutions like solar power or CNG-based private electricity generation should be promoted to reduce reliance on the national grid and support sustainable development. |
nairalanda1:The best way to fund education is by improving the quality of life for those paying for it. Creating more jobs and enforcing strong labor laws would enable people to afford tuition, even if fees were increased by 200%. With better opportunities and earnings, people would willingly pay. Right now, however, saving even ₦100,000 after current economic expenses feels impossible. Just two years ago, I could confidently save that much, but now, I can barely save anything at the end of the month. Another pressing issue is electricity costs. Schools can't sustain operations with skyrocketing bills, even if they overtax students. Without ongoing projects, schools lack the resources they need. Imagine a microbiology student struggling to get electricity to conduct research. Progress slows, costs escalate, and results remain minimal. Instead of endlessly importing goods, Nigeria would benefit more from investing in factories to create jobs and produce goods locally, selling at affordable rates. This would reduce reliance on imports and foster self-sufficiency. Moreover, the government’s approach to trade is flawed. Why buy and sell in dollars when we could trade in commodities? For example, exchanging oil for gold or uranium would make more sense. Let medium-sized companies handle transactions in dollars or even naira if they choose. This shift could revitalize our economy and reduce the strain on ordinary Nigerians. |
nairalanda1:Take a closer look: education in Nigeria is facing a crisis, and the burden has shifted heavily onto Nigerians, who are now paying exorbitant fees in federal tertiary institutions. Have you noticed why federal institutions are dropping in Nigeria and global rankings? There are no significant projects being executed, compounded by the "Band A" status all tertiary institutions are grappling with. At the University of Ibadan, for instance, MSc students are just two months away from their project defense, yet many have made little progress. They are unable to pay their third-semester fees, let alone begin meaningful work on their projects, which are further hindered by persistent power outages. Nigerians are bearing the brunt of this poor leadership under Tinubu’s administration. |
Nigeria's fortunes have already shifted, making November feel like January, and circumstances are becoming increasingly challenging. |
The sooner we Nigerians realize that Tinubu is using these borrowed funds to enrich himself, the better. Tinubu has borrowed more than the combined debts of the Jonathan and Buhari administrations, yet there is no subsidy payment, and no significant projects to show for it. Even during the military era, while there was corruption, you could still see tangible structures being built, creating employment. In contrast, this government has done nothing meaningful, and the streets are now filled with more beggars than ever. Nigeria is heading toward disaster. |
Avoid directly asking her if she has been involved with other men while you were away. Instead, take a discreet and calm approach to investigate on your own. Be kind and composed as you gather information. Check her phone, including WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook, for any potential red flags. Pay close attention to her conversations with female friends, as she might delete messages with others but overlook chats with her friends that could reveal more. If you find anything, remain composed and stoic in your response. |
I've noticed that many who identify as Christians or Muslims often lack empathy and engage in some of the most inhumane actions. I've chosen instead to follow the path of humanity through stoicism, and it has profoundly transformed my life. |
The reality out there is unsettling. |
I write this to share my experience and insights, hoping it teaches you one or two lessons. What you choose to do with this knowledge is up to you. One thing is certain: as I write, I heal, and as you read, you become better informed. I worked as a contract staff at FrieslandCampina WAMCO in Ikorodu, Lagos. It’s a fantastic company, and I learned a great deal—ranging from workplace safety and HACCP protocols to teamwork and the joy of a hearty canteen meal after a day’s shift. Despite the enriching environment, my contractual role compelled me to explore other opportunities. Over time, I received offers, but I declined them based on factors like location, pay, and my confidence in the unique experience I will bring to the table. In December 2022, I received an interview invite from Jubaili Agrotec (Global Alliance for Chemical) at Ibadan. After researching the company online, I felt optimistic and attended the interview. Upon arrival, I met other applicants, but the HR team seemed particularly enthusiastic about adding me to their team. I interviewed with the manager, and our discussion on solving their pressing challenges confirmed my capability. Afterward, I spoke with the general manager about remuneration, and I secured the role. I informed my previous employer about my resignation, giving a two-week notice for a proper handover. My manager, however, encouraged me to leave immediately, ensuring I’d receive all due gratitude payments and have time to rest before starting my new job. During those two weeks, I prepared thoroughly. I rested, secured accommodation, obtained my guarantor forms, and fulfilled all necessary legal requirements. When my start date arrived, I was eager and ready to begin as a Production Supervisor at Jubaili Agrotec, overseeing their chemical filling line. My role involved supervising the entire production process, from filling chemicals into containers to packaging and handing off products to the warehouse. The First Red Flags On my first day, I was introduced to the Safety Officer and the Production Manager, who promised to introduce me to the rest of the team. However, he walked me to the production floor and left abruptly. Taking the initiative, I introduced myself to the supervisors and operators. To my surprise, their responses were cold. I noticed significant gaps in operations, including poor worker attitudes, misuse of equipment, lack of PPE, and the absence of SOPs. Despite these challenges, I started addressing the issues. By the second day, I realized the company already had four supervisors. I began to suspect my role might be a prelude to someone’s termination—and within weeks, two supervisors were indeed let go and replaced by others. Alarming Work Conditions As I continued, I encountered severe workplace issues. Workers endured 12-hour shifts, often exposed to hazardous chemicals like Paraquat, Glyphosate, and Cypermethrin without PPE. Shockingly, PPE was only provided when visitors were expected. Workers sometimes used bare hands to pour chemicals during rework processes, and there was no hazard allowance for them. In stark contrast, Lebanese expatriates received generous stipends and luxury vehicles while spending their days in air-conditioned offices. Local workers, however, were crammed into trailers for transportation to work and back under the guise of resource optimization. The company also had a troubling policy of cycling through experienced staff. They hired skilled professionals from reputable organizations, only to terminate their contracts after a few months. The justification? KPIs were manipulated to justify layoffs. This practice favored retaining inexperienced workers who posed no threat to the insecurities of their foreign managers. The Powder Section Scandal The Powder Section was even worse. Workers in this area often suffered respiratory issues from prolonged chemical exposure. The company temporarily halted production during regulatory inspections, relocating workers to other sections and distributing PPE to create a façade of compliance. At times, these workers were even told to stay home. A Final Word of Advice This experience taught me a valuable lesson: never leave a stable job for a new opportunity without conducting thorough research. Understand a company’s work culture and internal practices before making a move. Some organizations are structured to exploit workers and set them up for failure. As you navigate your career, remember: building a lasting career takes more than accepting a lucrative offer. Look beyond the surface, and always make informed decisions. Learn from my experience and let it guide yours. |
This behavior is absolutely unacceptable and goes against basic human dignity. It must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. |
While corruption within the Nigerian police force is a well-known issue, we must verify the authenticity of these claims before drawing conclusions. Let's ensure we have the complete, factual story first. |
This is truly a life-or-death situation, so I urge anyone with the ability to assist this imprisoned man to step forward and help. Let this also serve as a stark reminder - we must always be vigilant about the company we keep. |

While Dugbe market wasn't mentioned earlier, it's worth noting - though it primarily sells clothes, you can also find food items there. People often favor different markets based on their cooking needs and preferences. Personally, I prefer shopping at Bodija market when I have time to spare, but Sango market is my go-to when I'm in a hurry. |
Farrason:I take back my words; it was a wise decision. It's better than begging. After a month of recovery, he can seek out a renowned boxer with an impressive record for a match. Then, he should focus on investing the money wisely. |
AnuOluwatomilol:That's truly tragic and underscores the need to conserve resources for times of scarcity. |
Hopefully, genetically modified mosquitoes will prevail, eliminating the ability of all mosquitoes to transmit malaria. |
Nahunger:Which is better: crypto trading or forex trading? |
The challenges of democracy in Nigeria stem largely from the illiteracy of many party flag bearers who struggle to manage themselves, let alone the people and the economy. Another major issue is corruption, as most flag bearers are wealthy individuals who inherited their riches from older politicians. They go to extreme lengths, spending exorbitant sums to win elections, only to impose heavy taxes on the populace and embezzle more funds at the expense of the people. |
Nahunger:Honestly, working-class individuals who made good money between 2000 and 2015 but didn’t take the opportunity to relocate abroad back then only have themselves to blame. It was much easier to migrate during that time. |
Nahunger:Nigeria is facing serious challenges. Despite heavy taxation and substantial government revenue, it is evident that this administration has borrowed more than any other in the country’s history. |

INEC has compromised its credibility. |
The sooner the federal government realizes that the IMF prioritizes its own interests, the better it will be for all Nigerians. You can't rely on a loan shark to teach you how to save. |
