Politics / Adeboye Curses Pastors Collecting Bribes From Politicians by tobbiefied: 10:57pm On Feb 04, 2015 |
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned that pastors collecting bribes from politicians risk the wrath of God. The renowned cleric said this on his official Facebook page on Wednesday while reacting to allegations by Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that the Peoples Democratic Party had bribed some pastors with N6bn to work against the All Progressives Congress and its presidential candidate, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhri (retd.). Adeboye, said, “I read in the newspaper this morning that one of the serving governors in Nigeria said that some pastors in Nigeria collected N6bn from politicians for the purpose of influencing their members to vote a certain candidate in the coming elections. “May I humbly request that if there be any pastor or pastors who collected such money, they should please return such as quickly as possible before the fire of the Almighty consumes you.” Amaechi, had on Tuesday, told his supporters not to be deceived by pastors, whom he said, were campaigning against Buhari because he was a Muslim. He had said, “Some pastors collected N6bn and they are circulating document and telling you not to vote for an Hausa man; not to vote for a Muslim; that they want to Islamise Nigeria. Tell them to return our N6bn. “They gave them N6bn; they should return it to the Federal Government coffers. They will tell you that Buhari wants to Islamise Nigeria; tell them we are too educated. “I am a Catholic, but no Catholic priest has told me that story right now in the Catholic Church because I will ask him how. If any pastor tells you that, tell him to return the money. “Nobody can Islamise Nigeria; they have commercialised Jesus Christ. They should stop commercialising the Christian faith. You know what Jesus Christ did in the temple? He chased them away.” Source: Punch Newspaper www.punchng.com/news/adeboye-curses-pastors-collecting-bribes-from-politicians/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Twitter @Kvngbrainard |

Politics / Jonathan Kaduna Rally: Police Chase Pro-buhari Crowd Out Of Stadium by tobbiefied: 6:47pm On Feb 01, 2015 |
The police and other security operatives on Saturday chased out pro-Buhari supporters at the Kaduna rally for the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan. The main bowl of the 30,000-capacity Ahmadu Bello Stadium, the venue of the rally, was half-filled. It was the last in the series of North-West rallies scheduled for President Jonathan’s re-election bid. When the state Governor, Mukhtar Yero, mounted the podium to read his welcome address, as soon as he shouted ‘PDP,’ a large section of the crowd chorused ‘Sai (only) Buhari.’ Also, when the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, shouted ‘Sai Nigeria,’ the crowd responded, ‘Sai Buhari.’ All the personalities that spoke at the rally were greeted with the ‘Sai Buhari’ slogan. In reaction to the development, security operatives, including combat-ready policemen descended on the crowd in an attempt to chase them out. As the police kept chasing the pro-Buhari supporters out of the stadium, they kept chanting, ‘Sai Buhari’ intermittently. They also tore several posters of President Jonathan and his deputy in the stadium. Not done, the youth outside the stadium reportedly threw pebbles on the convoy of the president after the president had left the stadium at about 3:00pm. A visibly angry Deputy Governor of the state, Nuhu Bajoga, was spotted by our correspondent at the rally, reprimanding members of the local organising committee at the main bowl of the stadium and asking the committee to “go and bring more people.” It was gathered that the money for the supporters were allegedly diverted by some officials of the local organising committee. Reacting to the development, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Lai Mohammed said, “It shows the popularity of Gen. Buhari. It shows that he is unstoppable. “Chasing his supporters out of the stadium does not help the President or the PDP. It worsens their case.” The Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibril, however dismissed insinuations of the non-acceptability of President Jonathan in northern states. Jibril said it was the “quality of the crowd that matters and not hiring of miscreants.” In his speech, President Jonathan said Kaduna was one of the major beneficiaries of Federal Government policies. He urged the people of the state to re-elect him in the Febuary 14 election. He said the state was the focus of the central government in the next four years if elected. He also promised to revamp the collasped textile mills in the state to create jobs for the teeming youths in the state. Vice President Sambo had earlier in his speech said the people of the state were highly elated with the President for his choice as running mate in the February polls. He described Jonathan as patriotic and detribalised and therefore urged the people of the state to vote the party in all the elections. The Kaduna State Governor, Mukhtar Yero in his welcome address said the state was the stronghold of the party since 1999 and would remain as such. He thanked the President for transforming the state, especially, the establishment of fast rail service from Abuja to the state to ease transportation problems and the establishment of 30KWT power plant in the state SOURCE Twitter-@kvngbrainard http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-kaduna-rally-police-chase-pro-buhari-crowd-out-of-stadium/ |

Politics / Obasanjo Speaks About Buhari`s Certificate Issue by tobbiefied: 1:11pm On Jan 22, 2015 |
Below is what the former president allegedly said. I use allegedly because after now, he will come out and say he never said it. Read below... The truth of the matter is that Jonathan is aware that Buhari is qualified to contest for President Election but some hawks with Jonathan, do not want him to contest Because they believed that he will win and come for them. The issue came up in 2007, and we investigated and found out that his WASEC is with the military and that was why he was allowed to contest in 2007. Buhari cannot listen to anyone about his certificates because as a General of Nigeria Army,he will speak when he chooses, not by Femi Fani Kayode and Okupe asking him. Fayose and other corrupt People including Kashamu do not want Buhari because of his anti-corruption slogan. Even Jonathan did not finish his PhD course but when it was presented we stated that, it does not matter but many people do not know because it was PDP thing. I see Buhari as the next President and Jonathan is aware of that, and that is the reason they are hitting him everywhere to put confusion in his camp. But a General is always a General…. Politics / Gov Babatunde Fashola Faults President Goodluck Jonathan Statement In OAU by tobbiefied: 8:39am On Jan 16, 2015 |
the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has faulted a statement credited to President Goodluck Jonathan that Muhammadu Buhari did not buy any weapon for soldiers when he was in government. Fashola spoke at the 2014 series of the Obafemi Awolowo Free Education Lecture organised by the Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State on Thursday. He wondered if President Goodluck Jonathan planned to fight terrorists with 1985 weapons. He said, “When a man says, ‘When they were there, they did not buy guns’. Ask, If they had bought guns in 1985, will he be fighting war with 1985 guns? “It is a good thing to take a man by his words. Awolowo prepared himself to speak in public because he knew the value of the spoken word and more importantly knew electoral promises were a matter of very serious honour, and to break them was a matter of great dishonour and breach of trust. “Indeed, nothing honours or dishonours a man like the value of his words.” Fashola also faulted activist of free education in Nigeria, saying they were not well informed about what it meant to give free education at all levels. He explained that free education could only be guaranteed at the primary and secondary level, adding that many people had failed to differentiate between education and specialisation. According to Fashola, education ends at secondary level, other activities at tertiary level can be described as specialisation. He said, “What is the definition of education that must be free and which the state is duty bound to provide, and which the citizen is duty bound to take? These questions are important; those who chant Awolowo’s name in the quest for free education at all levels, have probably not done the cost of educating one child at primary level, let alone secondary and tertiary level levels which some people are clamouring for. “And if these omissions by the protagonists are enough, they cannot provide any data about the number of beneficiaries, yet they say Awolowo would simply have done it. This is where they display their ignorance of the man whose name they use in vain to make loud attention-seeking noise.” He, however, asked people to stop comparing present educational policies to that of Awolowo. Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Prof. Bamitale Omole, and Dean of Faculty of Education, Prof. Philip Jegede, urged government at all levels to make education a priority. |
Politics / 276 Days After Chibok Girls Abduction, Presidentvisits Borno by tobbiefied: 8:28am On Jan 16, 2015 |
President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday paid a surprise visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, one of the three North- Eastern states worst hit by Boko Haram insurgency. Jonathan embarked on the trip shortly after laying a wreath at the National Arcade, Abuja in commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day. There had been clamour for him to visit the zone since April 14 when over 200 schoolgirls were abducted in Chibok by the sect. Critics also chided the President for continuing his presidential campaign without visiting or not making a direct comment on the January 3 killings in Baga and Doron Baga in Borno State by Boko Haram. Amnesty International had said on Monday that reports it got from the locals showed that over 2,000 people were killed and their houses razed. But the Defence Headquarters in Abuja denounced the international human rights agency’s claim, saying about 150 people died in the attacks. Before the Thursday visit which came barely a week ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential rally scheduled to hold in Maiduguri on January 24, the United States denounced the latest Borno killings as “an enormously horrendous slaughter of innocent people.” At the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army at the Maimalari Cantonment where he met with the officers and men currently in the frontline of the war against terrorism, Jonathan thanked them for their patriotic service to the nation. He assured them that the nation would soon see the back of the Boko Haram insurgents as the military were now better equipped to take them on. The President said that the briefing from the service chiefs showed that the 10 local governments in the state under Boko Haram control would soon be recaptured. “Let me assure you that we will soon take over all the areas. From the briefing I have received from the service chiefs, I assure you that we will take over the towns and communities, “ he added. Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, later issued a statement in which he quoted the President as telling the soldiers that the nation was proud of them for their commitment to the defence of the civilian population against terrorists. Describing the troops as a special breed of men, the President assured them that all necessary action was being taken to address challenges facing them in their operations against Boko Haram. “In terms of equipment and logistics, we have already made considerable progress since the insurgency started and we will continue to improve in that regard until your operations are successfully concluded,” he told the soldiers. Abati said that Jonathan also toured wards of the 7 Division Hospital and Medical Services Centre where he met with soldiers recovering from injuries sustained in operations against Boko Haram and wished them a speedy recovery. Before leaving Maiduguri, Jonathan was also said to have visited over 900 displaced persons from Baga at the Maiduguri camp. Abati said the President sympathised with the displaced persons over their losses during the attack on them by Boko Haram. According to him, Jonathan promised them that the Federal Government would strive to make their stay in the camps more comfortable while it continues to do all within its powers to restore peace and security to enable them to return to their homes soon. The statement by Abati quoted Jonathan as also saying, “Terrorism and insurgency have been very traumatic for all of us. I feel particularly disturbed when I hear of our people being displaced within their own country. “I assure you and other displaced persons that government is working very hard to ensure that you do not remain in these camps for too long. “I know that many of your houses have been destroyed. We will assist you financially so that you can rebuild your homes and return to them gradually,” the President told the displaced persons. The President also thanked the Red Cross and other international organisations for assisting in the provision of relief materials to the displaced persons. He charged local, state and Federal Government officials to work in unity in rendering support to the displaced persons. “I do not want to be hearing conflicting reports on support being given to them. Government is one and we must all work together to assist our people whenever the need arises. “We must cooperate maximally and work together at the local government, state and federal levels to ensure that our people who are unfortunately displaced from their homes get the best possible treatment,” Jonathan said. The Chief of Army Staff , Lt Gen Kenneth Minimah, said the President’s visit was significant since January 15 is the day set aside for remembering fallen heroes. Also on the Presidential entourage were the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Muhammad Sani-Sidi. Politics / Brainard:no Voter's Card ,no New Year Blessing-pastor E.A Adeboye by tobbiefied: 4:06pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
ghts, News General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday declared to all RCCG faithful should come to church on first Sunday of 2015, being the 4 day of January before he and other pastors in the church will release the New Year’s blessings. Adeboye made this declaration on the fifth day and eve of the recently concluded 2014 edition of the Holy Ghost congress, an annual gathering of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, which always comes up in the month of December. The cleric also enjoined Nigerians to ensure that they acquire their voter’s card which would enable them partake in the voting exercise come next year. He said: “Every eligible voter should ensure they get their voter’s card since this is the only ticket that would ensure that they vote in the candidate of their choice. Nigerians must begin to realise that their vote is their power, and it must be the concern of every Christian to decide who rules them as they are under covenant obligations to respect and pray for their leaders. Therefore, it is imperative to vote in whom your heart desires to be your leader and also facilitate a true and love inspiring relationship with your leaders spiritually by praying for them always.” He urged those who have not gotten their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to sacrifice a day and go to the local government centre closest to them to get their cards on or before the last day of the year. He displayed an example of good leadership as he brought out his own PVC and that of his wife. He also assured citizens that Nigeria will remain one indivisible nation, full of prospects and a bright future, adding that whoever is habouring the thoughts of breaking the country, would be the one to be broken completely. The congress had in attendance female political big-wigs such as the wife of Lagos State Governor, Abimbola Fashola, wife of Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Tokunbo Awoniyi, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire as well as former Deputy Governor, Sarah Sosan. Education / BRAINARD || Jonathan’s Visit: OAU Students Clash, Six Injured by tobbiefied: 5:53pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
No fewer than six students were injured during a clash between some students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on Sunday evening. While some of the eyewitnesses described the fight as a power tussle between students, who are loyal to the President of the Student Union, Ibikunle Isaac, and those of Vice-President, Oladejo Olufunmi, others described it as a cult attack. It was learnt that the Education Rights Campaign members had just concluded a meeting at the SU building Television room, when the fight broke out. Among those involved in the fight were some union executive members, suspended students of the university, members of the Security Committee of the SU and ERC members. Some of the students, who suffered varying degrees of injuries, were rushed to the nearby hospitals for treatment. One of them, Tedy, was allegedly pierced with a pointed object suspected to be a screw driver and another, David, was dealt a matchete cut on his head. It was gathered that the door to the SU president’s office, where some students hid, was broken while the occupants were thoroughly beaten, leading to the injuries suffered by some of the students. There are however two sides to the cause of the fight. While some of the students said it was as a result of ideological differences, others inferred that it was related to the protest held during President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit. Jonathan, traditional rulers and some politicians were at OAU for a supposed conference, where Jonathan was endorsed ahead of the 2015 polls. The campus fracas took a dangerous dimension when students of the school engaged themselves at the school gate with weapons. Chief Security Officer of the university, Mr. Paul Ogidi, said there was no cult attack in the institution. “It is true that our students fought. There was no cults attack on our campus. We did not witness any attack but a fight among our students,” he said. But the Vice-President of the Students Union, Funmi Oladejo, insisted that what happened on the campus could be likened to 1999 cults attack that claimed the lives of students. She denied the fight as being factional but hinted that the controversy that surrounded the presence of President Goodluck Jonathan on the university campus last Friday contributed to the cause of the fight. She said, “I was to have a meeting at SUB yesterday (Sunday) around 6pm. On getting there, I met a student, Sanyaolu Oluwajuwon, inside the gutter, where he had been seriously beaten and I wondered what happened. After a while, the injured students went to show the injury to others and that enraged many students. “Meanwhile, what started the fight, I heard, was that ERC was having its meeting when the President and PRO passed through the place and saw them. He then called his boys to start coming that some people are having an opposition meeting at SUB and they all came to beat those on the ground. “After beating them up, they ran away except Teddy that waited. We later realised that those that ran to town went to hire ‘cults’, who came with machetes. One of them (David) was even unconscious. We eventually caught four of them. Two were students and two were non-students. “ http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathans-visit-oau- students-clash-six-injured/ When asked if the fight was connected to Jonathan’s visit, she responded, “As far as I am concern, that is to mess up the whole issue. They want to make it a partisan stuff and that is out of sense. Our unionism is known to be independent and non-partisan. So, the case of Jonathan’s visit was sardonic. They (Ibikunle’s faction) wanted to pay back the opposition that greeted Jonathan’s visit and we should be a check to bad government.” It was learnt that the two of the arrested people involved in the fight were taken by students to the Awolowo Hall of the university, while the security officials took another two students involved in the fight. The President of the Student Union, Isaac Ibikunle, told our correspondent that non of his loyalists were cult members. He promised to call back to give his ‘full reaction’ after a meeting expected to be held between members of the executive and parliament today (Monday). The Public Relations Officer of the union, Oludare Bamidele, wrote, “It remains a sardonic issue that suspended students are beating legitimate students on OAU campus right now. Is this intellectual struggle? The act of dragging a security official to be beaten is an affront to law and arrival of the hobbesian state of nature.” Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Sade Odoro, said those involved in the fight were not cultists. She said, “OAU students truly fought and they were taken to police station. The police counselled and released them after a while. There is no secret cult thing involved.” |
Education / Oau Union Leaders Launches Cult Attack On Some Student by tobbiefied: 6:53am On Dec 01, 2014 |
Some students of Great Ife were yesterday evening brutalised by some Students and non students who were suspected to be cultists. The fight started in front of the SUB after a student right movement, ERC(Education Rights Campaign) finished their meeting at SUB TV room. Speaking with Olamide, one of the active members under the defunct Sammy led security committee who was at the scene, he said," after our meeting, Ayinla (the Chief Security Officer of the Students' Union)and his group confronted one of the student Union activists who was also at the just concluded meeting to beat him up for reasons I don't know. I had to intervene which led to myself and him being beaten. We called Sammy at this point but at his arrival they all fled to town. After their departure,we gathered and move to Asherifa to get Ayinla to answer on why he had to beat a student of OAU on campus. On our arrival at Asherifa,we met none of them only to be confronted again at the school gate by some guys who bruised some of us brutally including Sammy. Eventually we were able to apprehend two of them and we already brought them to Awo. Similar to the case of Iwilade several years back,we anticipate the coming of this cultists to rescue their members who are with us, he added." In the same vein, Sammy, while addressing students at Awo cafe made it known that the fight this night was caused by no other reason but the mobilisation of OAU students to protest against the government of president Goodluck which did not go down well with a faction of the Students' Union government. Sunday evening, members of the ERC were holding a summit at SUB TV room when the president, PRO, the Union’s CSO and hired cultists from town launched a deadly attack on them. A member of the ERC [Davo] who sustained a deep axe cut to his forehead is currently under intensive care, while Comrades Sammy, Engels, Juwon and others were brutally bloodied. As of now, few of these cult elements have been apprehended by Great Ife students and are under interrogation. THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES, VICTORY IS CERTAIN

Education / Federal High Court Reinstate Com Juwon By Brainard by tobbiefied: 6:48pm On Nov 13, 2014 |
There are times we may be powerless against injustice. But there must never be a time we fail to protest Todays ruling further proved that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man. The Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo today ruled that comrade Juwon should go back to school with immediate effect. This is a victory for Great Ife students and Nigeria Students at large. This has further vindicated comrade Juwon on the frivolous allegations brought against him and others by the OAU Management. However its not yet over untill its over. Gentle reminder. The fate of other seven progressive comrades are still hanging in the balance. Great Ife we must not relent and rest on our oars. The battle is half way won. The struggle continues. We must finish this struggle once and for all. In prosperity our friends knows us. In adversity we know our friends. #REINSTATEOAU7 NOW! Congratulations Comrade Juwon! Congratulations Great Ife Students!!! Brainard----2214F0DC |
Politics / BREAKING: Tambuwal Picks APC Presidential Nomination Form ------------- by tobbiefied: 6:35pm On Nov 13, 2014 |
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has picked the notice of intent and nomination forms to run for the office of president of Nigeria on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Mr. Tambuwal recently defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. In response, the federal government withdrew his security detail. Mr. Tambuwal was earlier tipped to run as governor in his home state, Sokoto. But the speaker received the presidential nomination forms Thursday, his spokesperson, Imam Imam, told PREMIUM TIMES. “Earlier today, some friends and political associates of the Speaker notified him that they have bought the forms for him,” Mr. Imam said. PREMIUM TIMES understands that several APC members in the House of Representatives trooped to the party’s Abuja office to purchase the forms on Mr. Tambuwal’s behalf. Sources in the APC say Mr. Tambuwal is in the presidential race at the prompting of one of the leaders of the party, Bola Tinubu, who is a former governor of Lagos State. Mr. Tambuwal’s indication of interest brings to five the number of persons who vying for the nation’s top job on the platform of the party. Others who had earlier picked the forms are former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano state, and newspaper publisher, Sam Nda-Isiah. The APC has said it will conduct a modified primary election in which delegates will vote for their candidate of choice from their home state, after which a national convention will simply collate and ratify the votes from across the country.
