Exnavyboy62: Since 2024, reports said the first batch of 6 units were to be delivered in late 2024. It’s 2025 and they are still undergoing flight tests. I’m losing patience. I want to see these birds already in Nigerian airspace with Nigerian airforce roundel and the Alpha jets in a military museum.
Next up JF-17C block 3 and Chengdu J-10C Insha Allah. I’m making this a prayer point during this Ramadan. So much so, one would think it’s personal Alpha jets aren't going anywhere anytime soon...at some point even pilots don't want it to go Also remember we took delivery of 12 from France recently six will be active while the rest put in storage for spares and the rest |

bidexiii: Troops Capture Notorious Bandit Leader Kachallah Hassan Nabamamu in Zamfara
The Nigerian Army troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have captured Kachallah Hassan Nabamamu, a notorious bandit kingpin responsible for terrorizing communities in Mada, Tsafe, and other parts of Zamfara State.
Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad Region gathered from security sources that the operation, conducted by troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, took place on February 27 at Hegin Mahe, Ruwan Bore in Mada town, Gusau Local Government Area.
Troops launched a well-coordinated ambush, leading to a fierce gun battle in which several bandits were neutralized while others escaped with gunshot wounds. The kingpin initially fled into nearby homes but was pursued and captured alive by the security forces.
Hours after his arrest, his gang members, led by Bakin Malam, launched a reprisal attack on Chediya, Bamamu, and Makera villages, issuing threats to dislodge residents if Nabamamu was not released. The attack forced many residents to flee their homes in fear.
However, The Nigerian troops swiftly responded with superior firepower, repelling the bandits and preventing further breach of security. Additional both Air and Land troops were deployed to secure the area and prevent further incursions, while intelligence operations continue to track down fleeing gang members.
Nabamamu, originally from Tsafe, Gidan Alhaji Kaduna, started as an Almajiri before attending Model Primary School, Tsafe. He later relocated to Bamamu village, where he engaged in cattle rearing. For over 30 years, he was involved in armed robbery and later became one of the first Fulani men to openly embrace large-scale banditry in Zamfara.
He first gained notoriety after leading an armed robbery attack on the home of Sani Dan Kyaso, orchestrating multiple murders in the process. Security sources describe him as deadlier than the infamous bandit leader Ado Alero, often warning other criminals such as Dan Isuhu to stay out of his self acclaimed territory.
Nabamamu commanded a large group of fighters, carrying out brutal attacks on villages including Makera, Chediya, Agama Lafiya, Singawa, Yalwa, Rekebu, Fegen Baza, Danmarke, and Sabon Fege, as well as locations near Setraco Company in Tsafe town. His gang was also responsible for numerous kidnappings along the Gusau-Tsafe highway, turning the route into a deadly zone for travelers.
Nabamamu worked closely with other top bandit leaders, including Bakin Malam, Kachallah Mal Tukur, and Kachallah Baldu, controlling at least 100 heavily armed fighters. He imposed millions of naira in levies on villages in Tsafe LGA, ruthlessly punishing communities that failed to pay.
Security sources revealed that Nabamamu had deep ties with weapons traffickers, often securing arms from suppliers linked to foreign terror networks. Intelligence reports indicate that he was involved in coordinating supply chains that provided sophisticated firearms to criminal groups operating in Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, and Niger states.
His gang was also notorious for using informants within local communities to track movements of security forces and high-value kidnap targets. Investigations suggest that he had an extensive financial network, using ransom proceeds to fund operations and maintain strong alliances with other bandit groups.
The arrest of Nabamamu is expected to significantly weaken the operational network of bandit groups in Zamfara. It is believed that dismantling his leadership structure could lead to the rescue of kidnapped victims still held by his gang.
Military operations under Operation FANSAN YANMA have intensified in recent weeks, with coordinated land and air offensives eliminating several high-profile bandits and rescuing hostages from their enclaves in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, and Kebbi states.

bidexiii: Notorious Bandit Leaders Surrender, Lay Down Arms in Katsina After Fierce Military Offensive
Several notorious bandit leaders, who have long terrorized Batsari, Safana, and Jibia Local Government Areas of Katsina State, have surrendered and laid down their arms following a series of intensified military operations.
The surrendering bandits include Abu Radda, Umar Black, Abdullahi Lankai, Jijjige, and Dabar Musa Dan Gandu, all operating from the Jibia axis.
Intelligence sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama that the military’s sustained onslaught against armed groups in the region forced the bandits to seek peace and disarm voluntarily.
During their surrender, the repentant bandits appealed to the government to provide them with alternative means of livelihood, requesting the construction of markets, hospitals, and access to clean water to help them reintegrate into society.
Their surrender was facilitated by the National Community for Security and Societal Advancement in Katsina (NCSOSACK), led by Comrade Hamisa S. Batsari, which represented affected communities in the security dialogue.
The bandits handed over their weapons to the military and released several hostages they had kidnapped during their reign of terror. They also vowed to embrace peace and end their involvement in criminal activities.
Top Military sources said that welcomed the surrender but reiterated that operations against unrepentant bandits will continue until total peace is restored in Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and the entire North West and the broader Northwest region.

bidexiii: Troops Neutralize Four Bandits, Capture One in Zamfara Night Raid
The Nigerian Army troops of Operation Fansan Yanma have neutralized four armed criminals and captured one suspect during a night operation in Nasarawa village, Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that The operation, which took place in the late hours of the night of Feb 10 and continued into the early hours of the morning, targeted a notorious hideout of bandits terrorizing the area. Among those killed was a well-known individual from Nasarawa village, who had long been suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
However, following credible intelligence, troops launched a decisive assault, engaging the bandits in a fierce battle. Four of the criminals were neutralized, while another suspect was successfully captured and taken into custody for further investigation.
This latest success is part of intensified efforts by the Nigerian Military to eliminate bandit groups operating in the region and restore peace to affected communities

Odunayaw: The facts I have been able to glean from X, from first hand info, is that it was something of a fighting patrol that these terrorists tried to break off its offensives with suicide VBIEDs. It is from this VBIED we lost our men.
This particular operation helps me make sense of all the NAF airstrikes in Damboa, Mandara Mts and this particular Timbuktu in early January. They were probably interdictions in prep for ground troops.
So far, there is nothing i've seen from all the info I have piece together that indicates the NAF was "missing" when needed.
It was'nt an overrun base or an "ambush" really. It was a counter attack. And except air cover can be guaranteed to follow troops around like the sun, those deaths were unfortunate. this is the most excellent response and analysis from the video so far |

MESSRS LEONARDO OF ITALY AFFIRM TIMELY DELIVERY OF M-346 FIGHTER AIRCRAFT
The Vice President of Messrs Leonardo, Mr Claudio Sabatino has assured the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Mashal Hasan Abubakar, of his Company’s unwavering commitment to the timely delivery of the M-346 fighter aircraft beginning with the first batch of 6 expected in Nigeria before the end of Year 2024. Mr Sabatino stated this when he paid a visit to Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters on Wednesday, 17 April 2024. While thanking the CAS for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage, Mr Sabatino also stated that further engagement between the NAF and his Company would be necessary to conclude other aspects of the project such as the commencement of pilots and engineering training. Speaking further, Mr Claudio assured the CAS that when finally completed, the maintenance of the aircraft fleet would not constitute a challenge as there is a binding agreement for Leonardo’s maintenance support for the minimum of 25 years. He also noted that the manufacturing of the aircraft fleet has reached an appreciable state and is being carried out with the utmost skill and expertise.
The assurance of long-term maintenance support provided by Leonardo was particularly met with appreciation by the CAS, who recognized the inherent value of such commitment in ensuring the sustained operational readiness of the entire aircraft fleet. Reflecting on the journey thus far, Air Marshal Abubakar also acknowledged the challenges overcome and expressed optimism for the future trajectory of the partnership. Envisioning the operational impact that the M-346 fighter aircraft brings to fore, Air Marshal Abubakar went on to underscore its dual role in bolstering training capabilities and augmenting operational effectiveness in diverse mission scenarios. Moreover, the prospect of Close air support, Air Interdiction, and tactical reconnaissance as well as Advanced Pilot Training capabilities inherent in the M-346 fighter aircraft heralded a new prospect for NAF’s operational versatility. The CAS further proposed the establishment of a dedicated Program Management Office, tasked with overseeing all facets of the collaboration. Air Marshal Abubakar also used the opportunity of the visit to reiterate the significance of Messr Leonardo's physical presence in Nigeria as a maintenance hub for their long list of African clienteles, whole also emphasizing the need for close coordination and synergy in achieving shared objectives with regards to the expeditious delivery of the fleet. Moving forward, both parties concurred on the importance of regular dialogue and collaboration as well as scheduling future meetings to delve into detailed arrangements on logistics, maintenance protocols and configuration requirements.
Recall that the Federal Government is acquiring 24 x M-346 fighter aircraft from Messrs Leonardo of Italy in a move that marks a significant step in NAF’s ongoing efforts to modernize its fleet as well as bolster its operation effectiveness. The aircraft is expected to arrive in Nigeria in 4 trenches of 6 each, with the first trench billed to arrive before the end of Year 2024.
