I keep seeing so many "spec ops" pix I must ask some questions:
-is every serving Naij armed forces member a special operator
- EXACTLY which are the SOF units and the spec ops capable units? There's a difference as the latter like the 75th Ranger rgt usually serve to funnel candidates to Delta
- What is the selection criteria for NA spec ops? IIRC, I've seen Naijjans training in Belarus, P'stan and elsewhere referred to as SOF
-Are there charges for wearing wrong unit patches as in most other armies? Could it be some guys are wrongly identifying themselves as SOF?
-Before unloading more SOF pix pls first list the more Elite combat units ie,the various QRFs, paras, NAF combat rescue etc, etc. In most armies these aren't true SOF but spec ops capable units.
Thanks!

Nigeria is expecting 3 x Grandnew helicopters from Leonardo Helicopters.

In total the Nigerian Navy would be operating 12 x units of AW-109 helicopters.

This is excluding the AW-139 and 3 x Bell helicopters used for pilot training.
are we still getting the other AW139 it was included in the budget but CNS has talked about it since

2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS: IGP TRAINS PILOTS, AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE OFFICERS FOR SEAMLESS AERIAL SURVEILLANCE

- Holds Colloquy with Police Mobile Force Leadership, Squadron Commanders on Election Security Management

As part of the build up towards ensuring concrete security arrangements for the nation, particularly as the 2023 General Elections approach, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, has approved the training of the first batch of Bell 412EP B1.3 Type-Training Course for Police Airwing Aircraft Maintenance Engineers comprising seventeen (17) officers, whose training is expected to improve the technical expertise of the Aircraft Maintenance Unit of the Police Airwing and prevent operational mishaps during aerial surveillance operations.

Similarly, the IGP has approved the training of more Pilots on Cessna Citation, the training and maintenance of a fully operational Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) squad, training of more Engineers on both Fixed Wing and Rotary Wing, as well as training for other auxiliary aviation staff to streamline operational inadequacies, improve human resourcefulness and ensure enhanced operational efficiency and cohesive operations. The trainings, which were run simultaneously, in partnership with foreign experts, came to an end on Friday 30th September, 2022, with presentation of certificates of participation to the trainees by the Inspector-General of Police at the FHQ, Abuja.

In the same vein, the IGP has recently met with the leadership of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Squadron Commanders at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he appraised the internal security situation of the country and unraveled the possible ways of positioning the Nigeria Police Force for effective service delivery through strategic restructuring. The IGP noted that the PMF, under his leadership and command would be adequately restructured, equipped, with effective trainings, to align with its age-long tradition of basic unit concept and unit deployment.

The IGP reiterated the importance of proper election security management for the upcoming 2023 General Elections. He further challenged the Squadron Commanders to provide adequate security in their respective Areas of Responsibility, to support the conventional police not only during the general elections, but in ensuring and reassuring members of the public of their safety before, during, and after the elections.

The Inspector-General of Police further asserted that the present leadership of the Nigeria Police Force will continually embark on training and retraining of its officers to reposition the Police and invariably improve the general security of Nigeria even as the NPF attains its primacy in maintenance of law and order.

NDLEA busts cocaine warehouse, seizes N193billion worth of crack in Lagos
. Arrests 4 drug barons, 1 other

In what appears to be the biggest singular cocaine seizure in the history of Nigeria’s premier anti-narcotic agency, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have busted a major warehouse in a secluded estate in Ikorodu area of Lagos where 1.8tons (1,855 kilograms) of the illicit drug worth more than Two Hundred and Seventy Eight Million Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($278, 250,000) equivalent of about One Hundred and Ninety Four Billion, Seven Hundred and Seventy Five Million (N194, 775,000,000) Naira in street value were seized.

At least, four drug barons including a Jamaican and the warehouse manager have been arrested in the well coordinated and intelligence led operation that lasted two days across different locations in Lagos state. Kingpins of the cocaine cartel in custody include: Messrs Soji Jibril, 69, an indigene of Ibadan, Oyo state; Emmanuel Chukwu, 65, who hails from Ekwulobia, Anambra state; Wasiu Akinade, 53, from Ibadan, Oyo state; Sunday Oguntelure, 53, from Okitipupa, Ondo state and Kelvin Smith, 42, a native of Kingston, Jamaica. They are all members of an international drug syndicate that the Agency has been trailing since 2018.

Located at 6 Olukuola crescent, Solebo estate, Ikorodu, the warehouse was raided on Sunday 18th September, 2022, while the barons were picked from hotels and their hideouts in different parts of Lagos between Sunday night and Monday 19th September.

Preliminary investigation reveals the class A drugs were warehoused in the residential estate from where the cartel was trying to sell them to buyers in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world. They were stored in 10 travel bags and 13 drums.

While commending all the officers and men of the Agency involved in the extensive investigation including those of the American Drug Enforcement Administration, (US-DEA), Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) said the bust is a historical blow to the drug cartels and a strong warning that they’ll all go down if they fail to realise that the game has changed.
