Where were the UAV, when a train was derailed and attacked and 300 passengers kidnapped by Boko haram.❓❓

Boko haram held the train and it's passengers for at least 30 minutes before taking 300 people captive on foot and then effectively disappeared.

It will take a UAV 5 minutes to get to the area of contention from Kaduna, it then has 40 hour flight time endurance. As you know it has thermal imaging and at high altitude the deranged terrorists will not know they are under complete surveillance.

But unfortunately the UAV was missing when required.
the perhaps the drone got there in time and then what
It will do nothing
Would you want to carry out airstrikes and take out civilians too
Our problem isn't the location of the hostages but getting them out "Safely" without civilian casualties and use of kinetics chances are like 30-20% success

I will remind you of the old adage, "The poor workman blames his tools"

Bandits are not going around with NVG's, and heavy weaponry.

They are essentially a bunch of deranged, illiterate, and quite often drugged up to the eye balls youthful and misguided bandits.

A well organized structured, properly trained disciplined and properly armed forces, should really make light work of these bandits.

But that is not the situation by any means of measurement.

I do believe that our army is not properly equipped. But in addition, I also believe they are very poorly trained as well , not highly motivated and have poor discipline.
yeah poorly trained and poor discipline
Join ISWAP and find out :\

CAS REVIEWS ONGOING AIR OPERATIONS IN KADUNA AS TERRORISTS' KINGPIN ALHAJI SHANONO, OTHERS ARE NEUTRALIZED IN AIRSTRIKES

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, was back to Kaduna earlier today 10 August 2022 to review ongoing operations and give further directives. This is even as intensive air operations endured in the entire military theatres of operation as NAF aircraft continue to seek and decimate enemies of the state in their attempts to make life unbearable for innocent Nigerians. From the briefings received by the CAS, it is evident that so far, the directives given to the operational commanders is yielding the requisite outcome. Air Marshal Amao, in addressing the commanders, reminded them of the need to remain steadfast and focused on the task ahead. 'We can't afford to let down our guards', he said.

In the Northwest specifically, the effect of strikes undertaken by NAF aircraft have revealed that several terrorists' have been eliminated and their enclaves destroyed. One of such strikes which occurred yesterday, 9 August 2022 resulted in the elimination of a well known terrorist leader operating in Kaduna State. Indeed, following receipt of intelligence on 9 August 2022 that a well known terrorists' kingpin, Alhaji Shanono, had scheduled a meeting with his foot soldiers at Ukambo, a village about 131 km from Kaduna, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch dispatched aircraft for interdiction mission at the location. Overhead the location, terrorists were sighted under clusters of trees at the foot of Ukambo high ground and after ensuring the absence of civilian settlements within the location, the crew received the authorization to strike. Feedback from local sources disclosed that over 30 rifles and 20 motorbikes were destroyed while about 18 terrorists, including Alhaji Shanono, were neutralized while others sustained various degree of injuries. Sources also revealed that not less than 26 kidnapped victims earlier held by the terrorists were released as a result of the airstrike.

Similar strikes were also undertaken in the Northeast as well. There, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai had their tasks well cut out for them as they have been fully engaged in conducting air interdiction missions on terrorists’ targets in Borno State. One of such operations was conducted on 6 August 2022 at Gazuwa, about 1.2 kilometers to Gargash, after intelligences revealed that infighting for relevance and supremacy was underway between terrorists of the Shekau faction and terrorists aligned to Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP). The state of confusion and disorder among the 2 terrorists’ factions thus presented an opportunity for a surprise strike by NAF pilots which was carried out using 2 aircraft types. It should be noted that though the map coordinates led the pilots to the exact site of the infighting, the location also had an ISWAP flag hoisted on the structure and 3 solar panels on the rooftop.
Intelligence received and corroborated by local sources revealed the strike was a success as the terrorists did not anticipate it with several eliminated and others injured.

The impact of the strikes is said to have reverberated through the remaining terrorists’ camps who are beginning to realize that they are fighting an unjust and lost cause that will no doubt lead to their death. Most are said to be contemplating surrendering just like others before them.

Meanwhile, sources have confirmed that the Nigerian military are exuding so much confidence especially with the level of successes being recorded. They are also optimistic that the counterterrorism strategies and efforts will in no distant time yield the expected outcome even beyond the northeast.

I agree. I wonder how this woman became an SF in NSCDC. Even the military doesn't allow females to become special forces, so why's the civil defence corps having a female as a SF. It's quite odd and clearly obvious she just got the clothing for a cheap price from their barrack markets
the military does allow female Special forces
We have few SFs in the NAF

NIGERIAN NAVY SHIP PROSPERITY RESCUES TWO GHANAIAN FISHERMEN
POSTED ON AUGUST 5, 2022 BY DINFO
Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PROSPERITY while on patrol about 10 nautical miles (nm) North East of Dangote Quay on 2 August 2022, sighted a man floating at sea on a yellow 20 litres gallon. Accordingly, the ship altered course towards the position of the man and successfully recovered him. Subsequently, the rescued man revealed that a second person was involved. As such, the ship proceeded to the position of the second man and safely recovered him as well. Further investigations revealed that the rescued men were Ghanaian fishermen residing at Takwa Bay, Lagos. They went fishing on Sunday 31 July 2022 but encountered a boat mishap at about 10pm same day. Sadly, 2 of them were said to have drowned before the remaining two were rescued by NNS PROSPERITY. The Nigerian Navy wishes to reiterate its commitment towards ensuring the security and safety of all seafarers in Nigeria’s maritime domain.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has charged Nigerian Air Force (NAF) operational Commanders in the various theatres of operation across the country to ‘show no mercy’ and ensure they employ maximum firepower against terrorists posing security threats in the country. While commending them for their efforts as well as the improved synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, Air Marshal Amao also underscored the need for effective allocation and utilization of all NAF platforms deployed for operations in the Northwest and Northcentral for enhanced operational effectiveness. Doing so, according to the CAS, will deny the terrorists freedom of movement while boosting the confidence of the populace and ensuring a peaceful country. Air Marshal Amao made these assertions when he met with frontline Air Officers Commanding (AOC) and Air Component Commanders (ACCs) at the NAF Base yesterday in Kaduna.

Speaking further, the CAS noted that though the security environment remains fluid and uncertain with terrorists moving between the northeast, northwest and north central, the need to continually modify NAF’s air power strategies to stay ahead of the asymmetric and unconventional nature of terrorists’ activities is of paramount importance. According to him, ‘We have a responsibility to secure our nation and give our citizens a sense of hope, trust and belonging. Therefore, we must ensure that we stay ahead of the enemy and envisage his next line of action.’ He then charged them to show no mercy against any terrorist and their accomplices while also denying them the freedom of movement and ease to cause mayhem against innocent Nigerians.

Air Marshal Amao then assured them that training of more combat pilots, imagery analysts and other specialties in the NAF would continue to be of utmost priority so as to address the manpower challenges within the operation areas. He went on to state that efforts were at advanced stage to procure more combat platforms for the NAF to meet the ever-increasing demands of air assets in various theatres of operations across the nation. Other issues addressed during the interface included the need to ensure speedy procurement circle of aircraft spares to minimise aircraft down-time amongst other issues.

I got to say, the C.A.S really made a wise decision but I'm concerned on how NAF engineers will be able to keep up with the repair and maintenance of; AW-109E, Mil Mi 35, AH 1Z and T-129 helicopters.

About the 7× Mil Mi 35 that NAF has refused to pick up, I wonder if the C.A.S is going to cancel the deal and demand a refund from Russia
AW109 and the MI series helos won't be a problem we've even began manufacturing some of their spares

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, speaks during the matriculation ceremony of students of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna State on July 31, 2022.

The Nigerian Air Force has said it is concluding arrangement for the establishment of an Aircraft Manufacturing Plant in Osogbo the Osun state capital as part of an effort to develop and expand the nation’s aviation sector.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao made the disclosure during the matriculation ceremony of students of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna State on Sunday, saying discussions are already ongoing with the relevant foreign partners on the project

He said that the Air Force relocated its Research and Development Centre from Kaduna to Osogbo in Osun State early this year in order to leverage the vibrant machine tools industry located in the city.

Air Marshal Amao explained that Aviation city in Osogbo will include a maintenance repair organisation and an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle production center among others, all geared to add value to the aviation city project.

“The Nigerian Air Force intends to develop an aviation city in Osogbo. Discussions are already ongoing with necessary foreign partners and work will commence as soon as an agreement is reached,” Amao said.

“The project will include an aircraft manufacturing plant, a maintenance and repair organisation, and an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) production center, among others.”

The air chief further charged staff and students of the institute to remain focused so that their hard work can add value to the aviation city project.

When completed, Air Marshal Amao stated that the project will be the first of its kind in Africa’s most populous nation.
