The Indigenous People of Nigeria, IPN, has rejected the zoning arrangement as published by All Progressive Congress, APC. IPN made its position known in Abuja during its 3rd Press Conference on State of the Nation. Text of the statement reads; 10th March, 2022 PRESS CONFERENCE ON STATE OF THE NATION: Gentlemen of the Press, you may recall that penultimate to the National Convention of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Indigenous People of Nigeria, IPN, lauded the Party for putting up a zoning arrangement suitable for a multi-ethnic society like ours. We also recall writing an open letter to APC stressing the need to recognise and adopt a zoning arrangement that is favorable and acceptable to Nigeria. IPN therefore takes deeper look into the zoning arrangement under the ruling All Progressive Congress with the following observations. 1. Going by the zoning arrangement made public by the APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, H.E Sani Bello, the position of National Chairman is zoned to the North Central, Deputy Chairman North, to the Northwest, Deputy Chairman South to South East, and National Secretary to South West. 2. We observe that this zoning arrangement of political positions under the ruling APC is unjust to a section of the country, specifically, the Southeast. We view it disheartening that the APC is toying with the unity and oneness of Nigeria. 3. The view earlier expressed by APC was that the North and South swerved positions , such that all positions initially held by the North automatically go to the South and vice versa. 4. However, it is apparent that while the South West held the first chairmanship position of the party, Vice President and Speakership positions, and the North East Secretary and Senate President, members of the party from the South East are treated with disdain, giving the impression that they do not belong to the party. Indeed, the manifold imbalance clearly manifest that the APC does not care about Nigeria's unity, and one dares say that this move is very dangerous and portends danger to Nigeria's corporate existence. Needless to say that this is an unjust treatment so provocative and vindictive that immediate redress is required. Failure on the part of APC to correct the wrong treatment amounts to deepening the South East alienation and further threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria. IPN is not unaware that Nigeria, under the watch of APC, has been in terrible disarray; and the Party cannot pretend to show comfort in this sad state by not doing anything to unite the people of Nigeria. We the Indigenous People therefore frown seriously against this, and urge the party to take necessary steps towards the correction before the Convention. IPN calls on well meaning Nigerians, particularly, leaders of Southeast in APC, to reject in its entirety the proposed zoning formular as made by the Acting Caretaker Chairman, and immediately commence engagement to rectify it so as to bring sense of belonging to Nigerians from the Southeast. The insecurity, uprising, agitations and call for secession from the Southeast is clearly due to the injustice meted against the people of the zone. We honestly, call on the National leadership and stakeholders of Southeast to rescind their decision and zone the position of National Secretary to the Southeast, just as PDP has done. We also expect that the party will go further to ensure that the next presidential candidate of the APC should come from the Southeast in the Spirit of Justice, equity and fairness. Our position can be excused by the assumption that it will amount to an overburden for a South East that has the zoning of presidency to still share equally with other zones. Otherwise our position is cemented by a recent statement credited to our elder statesman, the former President Olusegun Obasanjo that unless due care is taken to address all agitations, Nigeria may cease to exist beyond 2023. May we, on a final note, reemphasize that IPN is neither a political association of the PDP nor APC, nor any of the political parties. We consider it a duty to ensure that political parties, especially the leading parties, do the right thing at all times for the good of Nigeria and Nigerians. Nigerians Drag CBN Governor, Emefiele On Twitter With #TheEmefieleDisaster The rumored plans of the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, to stage a surprising run for the Presidency became a national trending topic on Thursday as Nigerians from across the country expressed their dissatisfaction over the move – alongside Mr. Emefiele’s overall tenure as CBN Chief – using a scathing hashtag, #TheEmefieleDisaster. Users of the platform who joined in the conversation accused the CBN Governor of executing a partisan agenda at the CBN aimed at retaining the support of high-placed members of the ruling party, the APC, who are keen on helping him succeed President Buhari as the country’s next leader in 2023. They alleged that despite supervising Nigeria’s worst economic and financial performance in decades, including a spiraling foreign exchange crisis, he has remained untouchable due to his willingness to open the country’s vault to this exclusive class within the APC who are backing him for the Presidency. Others noted how Emefiele has concerned himself with partisan activities unrelated to his official mandate as the CBN Governor, asserting that the deliberate inflation of his roles and duties constitutes evidence of his reign of impunity and abuse of office. “Emefiele expanded his impunity by making an unannounced courtesy call to the camp of the Nigerian Super Eagles all the way in Cameroon; a visit that has left Nigerians wondering non-stop as to its relevance to his role as the CBN Governor,” one of the tweets read. Rumors of Godwin Emefiele considering a likely run in 2023 has gathered steam in the past few weeks with multiple inside Villa sources affirming that the banker has emerged as the most preferred candidate of certain APC figures who consider his Presidency the best-case scenario. The primary consideration, according to the sources, is that it allows them to honor the growing call for a power shift to the Southern region of the country without handing over the reins of the country’s economy which Emefiele has, allegedly, surrendered to them.

Professionals and businessmen from Akwa-Ibom State have commended the State Governor, Udom Emmanuel for his "bold and courageous step" in announcing the State Commissioner for Land and Water Resources, Pastor Uno Eno, as his preferred successor ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the state. The group, under the aegis of Professionals For Development in Akwa Ibom, in an interaction with newsmen in Abuja after its meeting on Monday, described the choice of Pastor Eno by Governor Emmanuel as “a reflection of the shared expectation of the people in their quest to continue the sustainable peace and development in the State.” The group revealed that contrary to speculations, the choice of Pastor Eno is a product of very wide consultation with critical stakeholders across the State, both within and outside of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). National Coordinator of the group, Engr. Ufot Akan Umoren, noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel has saved Akwa Ibom the stress of unnecessary partisan contestations which would have caused the state huge financial and social losses adding that the choice of Pastor Eno is the right step to ensure the consolidation and continuation of the laudable achievements of the governor. “After an extensive meeting today, we are unanimous in commending Governor Udom Emmanuel for the choice of Pastor Eno as his preferred successor. It is a step in the right direction and reflects the quest of the people for a governor that will walk in the footprints of Governor Emmanuel and continue in providing the peace, stability and development we enjoy under him today. “Contrary to speculations in some quarters, the choice of Pastor Eno is a product of very extensive consultations across the State. Governor Udom Emmanuel has helped the PDP to get it right again on the candidate for the 2023 governorship election because with Pastor Eno, the election will be a straight victory for the PDP and the people of Akwa Ibom State. “We commend Governor Emmanuel because he has saved Akwa-Ibom from the stress of unnecessary political contestations which would have caused our state huge financial and social losses” Umoren said. Also speaking, the General Secretary of the group, Dr. Mrs. Emem Akpan, said that with Pastor Eno as Governor Emmanuel’s successor, the continued development and stability of Akwa Ibom State are guaranteed. She stressed that with Pastor Eno’s conduct as Commissioner for Land and Water Resources, there is no doubt he will continue on the path of prudent management of resources, transparency and accountability for which Governor Udom Emmanuel is known. “Govenor Udom Emmanuel is a very meticulous administrator, who has led the state to higher heights and his choice of Pastor Eno is a further reflection of his love and commitment to the state. The group, which comprises of professionals from all walks of life, urged other governorship hopefuls in the PDP to jettison their personal interests and support Pastor Eno for the general good of the state. ###

Group Condemns Bisi Kolawole's Derogatory Comments On Party Leadership The most prominent group within People's Democratic Party, PDP in Ekiti State, popularly known as "PDP Young Leader" has condemned the recent un-cultured vituperation of Hon. Bisi Kolawole on leaders and members of the party. It is of no news to the world that, on 26th of January 2022, a kangaroo election was held and masterminded by the Almighty Oshoko of which this metamorphosed to the emergence of Hon Bisi Kolawole as PDP's candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State. According to Engr. Olusola Oluwasimirin the group convener, the governor in embryo, out of wisdom and inability to combine words publicly, in collaboration with the overwhelming joy of benefiting from the jiggery-pokery election, has paraded himself as a worthless leader who can not manage his home (PDP), but on the race to manage Ekiti state, and this will be a catastrophic metaphysical aberration on our state popularly known for fountain of knowledge and land of honor. In his over-joyous attitude that engraved his intellectual opulence, he vomited an irreversible word of deceit in praising his cohort Engr Agbola Alaba as the brain box repositioning group while others are carcass. This is a wrong signal to the entire People's Democratic Party members and Ekiti State at large about their governor to be as we see him as man on Aleko, who could not control his urge due to the effect of the drug. Leadership is the capacity and the will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which inspires confidence but the leadership style of Hon Bisi Kolawole is like a chackles that will erode the growth of the party in no distance time, we therefore as matter of urgency call on him to retrace his step in other not to fall in the pit of political extinction. |

Kogi Pension/ Gratuity; Ongoing Disparity Between Central and Kogi East Unhealthy, Divisive- Igala Vanguard The ongoing disparity in payments of retired civil servants in Kogi state of their pension and gratuity between beneficiaries from Kogi central and kogi east is against the law,Igala Socio Cultural group Igala Vanguard said. In a statement signed by Engr Lawrence Akpa revealed that an investigation launched by Igala Vanguard allegedly confirmed that retired civil servants from kogi Central and of Ebira extraction gets preferential treatment against their counterpart from kogi east interms of payment in monetary. it was further revealed that payment of gratuity for Kogi easterners not minding the rank stands at N100,000, while their counterparts from kogi Central gets a lump sum of between N1Million to N5Million as directed by the state government. This is also applicable to payments of pension to beneficiaries,as people from kogi Central ,the governor's extraction usually get maximum attention and huge payments compared to the people from kogi east. This developement is saddening and had being in practice in the last six years in kogi state. Efforts to confirm the unfortunate development fell on deaf ears, as many worker's confronted in the state pension board confirm it was an instructions from above, with fear of losing their jobs. The state chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress NLC and Nigerian Union of Pensioners NUP in Kogi state could not be reached ,as at the time of filing this report. Some pensioners who had the opportunity of expressing their feelings confirmed that their friends in Kogi central have subjected them to a laughing stock, saying with the Governor of Kogi state from the central, they have edge in payments of pension and gratuity ahead of people of Kogi east. It is unheard of,the ongoing disparity in pension payments in any part of the country, except in Kogi state at the instance of the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
