There is nothing wrong in asking an 11 yr old child to wash plate, sweep the house and run small errands meant for her age. If she doesn't assist in these little things what else will she be doing in the house? Even my 4yr old daughter runs little errands e.g bring spoon, water and broom etc.

The only thing I don't like is the use of the word "maid." Send her to school, ensure that she is not being maltreated etc.

As for your question, I have almost the same family size as yours (3 kids, 3 adults) and live in owerri. I give my wife 40k per month for food stuff and like additional approximately 20k within the month for cooking of soup, stew etc.

To cut cost. Encourage your wife to avoid buying things from the street as their prices are often inflated. Let her buy items from the market and in quantities that will be enough for the month or wk.

Running a family in Nigeria is difficult. You spend on virtually everything. Aside giving wiffy feeding money, you spend on gas, fuel, medicals, recreation, school etc
