Then, the price for a bag of rice was around 9500 to 10500 naira perbag, that was before the ban on foreign rice.I Supplied for 12,500 naira. I spent between 400 to 600 naira to transport a bag of rice.

Sometime in 2019 I made up my mind to go into rice business of which, I started by buying processed rice from mills, print my own bags and bagged it then supplied it to markets in one of the big cities in the south east, the profit margin was cool but the time it took for me to recover my money from those I supplied discouraged me, so I pursed and restrategized on how to make benefit greatly from the rice value chain in Nigeria.
Shortly after I stopped supplying already milled rice, Buhari closed the border and rice business started booming, I started receiving calls from those my customers to supply them rice that they will pay cash, I didnt mind them at all because I have made up my mind to quit begging people to pay me for goods I supplied them. Around December 2019 I made up my mind that I will be going into rice farming proper.

There are so many planning and timing to be done when planting rice and if you are not careful you might lose your investment. Am farming on a rainfed lowland, and the variety of rice am planting matured within 90 to 100 days, if you plant very early, you will start havesting when the rain is still at its peak which will destroy your produce, so down here we just wait for July before we start planting in order to harvest by October / Nov .

I understand bro but u actually made me started thinking about planting rice when u opened this thread.just last weekend,planting started on mine so I was wondering why urs hasn't started since but it's ok..God help us all
