Its real name is Day Spring Assembly, but the host community of Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State nicknamed it ‘Skirt Church’. This is because the entire community had watched with utter astonishment as the pastor and members of the Church indulge in bizarre style of worship. The pastors and their flock had allegedly gone round the community, including the Nkwo market square preaching that there is nothing wrong in men having sexual intercourse with fellow men, even in the open. Aside that, the church members had, while mounting the rostrum, preached that any man was free to take another person's wife to bed, provided the woman gave her consent. To crown it all, the community has been embarrassed by the mode of dressing of the church members. They say male members of the church dress in women’s attires such as skirts, blouses, ear rings and wigs, while their female counterparts wear men’s attires. The church, it was further learnt, encourages members to go on a drinking spree, and worship all through the night, beginning from evening till day break (TDB). Not comfortable with the situation, women in the area had staged a protest at the church warning the congregation against what they called obnoxious religious worship. According to them, the practice is capable of promoting sexual promiscuity, particularly among the youths in the area. As the congregation ignored the women's warning and allegedly continued with their preaching mode, which attracted more members on a daily basis, the women marched to the church premises, demolished the entire structure and ordered the members to leave the area. A visit to the community during the week, National LIFE learnt that members of the church might have ignored the quit notice issued them by the community, as they have since regrouped, and even making plans to rebuild their demolished church building. Now the battle line seems to have been drawn between the worshippers and their host community. As at the time of filing this report, the church members had started moulding blocks in readiness to rebuild the church, even as they spread tarpaulin over the demolished structure to provide shelter for their normal practice. At the Church premises last Tuesday, National LIFE sighted a members sitting under the tarpaulin quietly. None of them was willing to be drawn into any dialogue. By Wednesday afternoon, no member of the church was around, as the entire premises was deserted. However, a neighbour who spoke to National LIFE on anonymous condition, said they usually gathered during evening hours anyday they want to worship and remained till the next day. When contacted, a member of the church who identified himself as Silas Nwafor, a petty trader at the Nkwo Market, Umunze, said he is an ordinary member of the church. According to him, he is not competent to comment on the matter without first obtaining clearance from their pastor who he said lives in Aba, Abia State. http://www.thenationallifeonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3427:inside-homosexual |

An 11-year-old "werewolf" boy who desperately seeks a cure for his condition is baffling medical experts. Pruthviraj Patil is one of 50 in the world who suffers from hypertrichosis, a rare genetic condition known as Werewolf Syndrome. As a result his face and body is covered in thick, matted hair. But he is hoping doctors will one day find a cure for his ailment. Born in the Indian district of Sangli, near Bombey, he hardly ever leaves his village because of his fear of being traunted by strangers. The only parts of his body that are not covered with hair are the palms of his hands and soles of his feet. The son of a well off farmer, his parents have tried homeopathy, traditional Ayurvedic remedies and laser surgery. But none of them have worked. It is believe his genetic condition was caused by a flaw during pregnancy. "Why did God do this to us," his 32-year-old mother Anita pleads. "He looks so odd and whever we go people throng to see him." Plastic surgeon Vinay6 Saoji has examined the boy and confirms that the condition is very rare. "Hairy nevus, where a person has patches of excess growth, or hirsurism, is not uncommon, but hair persisting all over the body is very rare," he added. Pruthviraj says he is anxious to get the hair removed but even after laser treatment it simply grows back. The doctors don't have any answers to his predicament. When he first went to school he said he got bullied and the other children laughed at him. But now they have got used to him and they treat him like normal. He appealed to the doctors to help find him a permanent cure. -http://www.thatsweird.net/news53.shtml June 30, 2008

The Police said movement of persons would be restricted from 10pm on Friday and during the rescheduled National Assembly elections. Force spokesman Olusola Amore, in statement in Abuja, said the restriction is to enable security agencies "monitor the activities of miscreants, thugs and other criminal elements who may intend to use the cover of darkness to interrupt the smooth conduct of the elections". |

'My Point IS, ' by Ali Baba ''First things first, i know some of u will say this is uncalled for. Some will even say, we already know. But for those who know, its important u also know that so many don't know. So please if u have the time, read it. Its really not a piece i should be writing, but in the face of thousands of lies being told in the name of justifying their false convictions, some people just believe the wrong things and pass on same as truth. Which is then circulated. And when u keep quiet, its often taken to mean the truth. Every so often I am forced to explain myself or rebut some issues that bother on my integrity and dignity. I have worked hard for my FAME and with God, I still manage to remain relevant. Until now, or to be sincere, recently, people did not know that Comedians earned as much as they did. Mohammed DANJUMA, Igbo KOKO, TeeA, Basorge Tariah Jnr and a whole lot of the first generation comics, tried to keep our new found goldmine under the radar. Not until the second generation came. And started the laau laau spending and blew our covers. Till now I still try to advise my younger colleagues on the gains of prudence. This explained why, initially people thought comedians were paid peanuts. But clients who had paid for our services, were quick to correct you anytime u tried to cheapen our services. Some clients call me and offer some amount and are shocked when I refer them to younger collected who charge within their budget. But to be fair, those who use our services these days know TALK IS NOT CHEAP! Anyway, if you know me by now, u would already have guessed that this piece is not going to be about what we charge per se. But I had to mention it to give u a background to what the write up is about. Back in the mid 90s, I earned my first million as a comedian, at that time, as a young graduate, u only can run into such wealth through the corridors of 419. But I got mine, through the help of Satzenbrau. So by the end of the 90s I was coasting home with between 100 and 200k per show. I already was living in a 5 bedroom duplex, that used to be Regina Askia's residence, in Ilupeju. Then I moved to Lekki phase 1, in 99. In 2000, I was introduced to the presidency and I moved into the 1million per show bracket. No be GOD? I married Patricia Leon about that time. She was at the time working in Multichoice and lived in a 2 Studioon Opebi, behind Niteshift. Without being specific with figures, let's just say her monthly take home was below 100k monthly. Now this was apartment at the time when I had started charging between 500k and 800k (depending on negotiating skills) Don't also forget that besides Mohammed DANJUMA and maybe 2 others, I was the first call for events. I WAS BUSY. I was therefore able to give my wife, without breaking a sweat, a monthly salary the same with what she got as a staff of Multichoice. She cashed her cheques at the UBA on Aboyade Cole. That was besides other bills at home and her wardrobe. THAT IS WHAT A HUSBAND IS SUPPOSED TO DO. And I did it well. I must add that even after we parted ways, I still provided for her, Up till a point. Now that point was when I read an interview that painted me like a gigolo. And I stopped being a nice guy. I know some of you are going, "who cares whether you took care of her or not?", apparently some people do. Those who undermine my hard work and prefer to believe I lived off Patricia Leon. Usually when I try to set the records straight, friends will say, let them say what they want to say. Sadly, the lies are taking on true colours. Some now say it was Pat that made me. You are better not give God's glory to no man. Or else you will answer for it. If I may ask, if Ay, TeeA, Baskethmouth, Julius, Basorge and Gbenga had married SOCIALITES would they have been considered as living off their wives? Am very sure if any of them had married a banker, lawyer, business woman or Socialite, none of the affluence they exhibit now would have been from their hard work. It would have been because they married their spouses. As much as I agree that it's nobody's business how I live my life, I also believ that when that life I am living is now given a reputation of someone who lives off women, I also owe myself the right to state it clearly that it is not true. Don't go thinking Pat and I are not friends. Far from it. This piece is not about making her look bad or me looking good, but it is to put it on record that I stated the facts and in these days of FOI law, to have it documented, because, anyone who writes anything to discredit my hard earned reputation and professional integrity wld pay for painting me in bad light. But like I was told by one of my big brosses, some spread the false tales because it justifies their present states. "I heard u and Alibaba graduated the same year" and am sure u can predict the next line, "Yes o! The guy don hammer. Na Patricia Leon money he dey spend!" That way its easy to discount my hustles and imply that if it were not for Pat, he and I wld have still been on the same level. Guess what? Pat is still alive, go and let her spend on you too. This was the point I tried to make in my note THE HILARY FACTOR. And my point then and now, was and is, that when Obama decided not to pick Hilary Clinton as VP, I knew why. People wld have said he rode on her wings to win. He didn't pick her and he won. In my case, there was nothing wrong in riding on my wife's wings or financial edge to succeed. If there was. There wasn't. And in truth, my marrying her cost me my Multichoice account. Because I stopped doing events for them once we were married. U can clear that with JSP Communications. After saying all these, my point is, Give GOD credit when he deserves it. Or else u would be bearing false witness against your neighbour and offending GOD. Plus the small fact that u also are robbing me of some applause. That's my point, Now let the arrows fly!'' , Ali Baba

IF you see any limping young man, his eyes red and puffy, with an equally enlarged cheek giving him a grotesque look, don’t mistake him for a beggar. He is no other than the once handsome comedian; Emma Adigwe popularly called D’ Lecturer. He was battered and bruised by men of the Nigerian police, Gbagada, Lagos division, late on Monday night. His offence? He asked for direction from the ever-angry men in black that ironically call themselves ‘friends’ of the people. Perhaps that night was a bad one as danfo or okada drivers did not pay their roger, so all their frustrations were poured on our poor brother. This should serve as a lesson to all, if you miss your way in Lagos or Nigeria, avoid the police, seek the nearest armed robber or tout smoking hemp at the bus stop; at least, the reception would be better. Below is an unedited Facebook message and a picture that tells the whole story sent to T4T by D’ Lecturer. “On Monday 14, 2011, i & my Rev. Father just came back frm UNILAG where i went 2 MC a 50th birthday aniversary of a Professor in UNILAG. And my Rev. Fr. who lives in Bariga Pleaded wit me 2 use his car 2 drop an accident victim who is using clutches @ home (Akute). On getting back, i missed my way @ Gbagada while trying 2 locate d Mobil Filling Station. Den i met a traffic warden who directed me but never knew it was a wrong discription. & den i say a police check point ahead of me & i drove 2 dem & ask dem 4 direction, 2my surprise dey ask me 2park dat i was on one-way & i parked & explained myself 2 one of dem (Named Peter) but he refuse 2 hear me out & seized my drivers licence. Wen my Rev. Fr. Called 2 know my location, i told him d situation & he ask me 2wait dat he's on his way. All of a sudden dey (police) entered d car & ask me 2drive & i ask dem ''where are we going''? But dey shouted back @ me 2 drive. I pleaded wit dem dat d owner of d car will soon be here but dey all came out, hand-cuffed me & 5 of dem started beaten me up like a common thief, dey kept on beating & ruff-handling me 4 close 2 30min til d priest arrived. & few minute after he Arrived, d DPO in charge of Pedro Police station, ISSAH OHINZE LAWAL (SP) came & order dem 2 remove d hand-cuff. On getting 2 Pedro Police Station, both d DPO & his boys turned d issue up, side, down saying dat i was fighting d policemen. @ dis time, d prof. I went 2 mc his birthday & 2 other Priests were already dere. And dey ask dem ''how possible is it 4 one person 2fight 5 armed police men'' but d new Police PRO Lagos Command called & ask dem 2 release me & dat was how dey allowed me 2 leave. (all dis happened b/w 9pm & 11pm).”

A student at Lagos State Polytechnic, Shakirat Dupe Olanrewaju has collapsed inside a police cell at Pako Station, Safejo area of Amukoko, a suburb of Lagos State Southwest Nigeria, after she was tortured and raped by the police. Sources told P.M.NEWS that Dupe was tortured weekend by the police for protesting against the release of a suspect she had lodged a complaint against. Her hands were tied to her back. She claimed she was raped and tortured inside the cell until she collapsed. Five cops, she said, raped her in turn overnight, in a single cell at the station. The police rushed her to a hospital to revive her but concerned residents who were angry about what happened have moved her to another hospital, where she is now receiving treatment. The 25-year old student said that she had reported a case of burglary and threat to life against her former boyfriend, and the matter was assigned to a policeman, identified asYusuf, to investigate. Later, another cop was asked to investigate the case. The probe led to the arrest of the boyfriend, who was later released. She said not quite long after the investigation commenced, the policemen started demanding sex from her. They threatened that if she did not allow them to have sex with her, they will not continue with the investigation. She said that she reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, who scolded his men and assigned the matter to another policeman, a sergeant who re-arrested the boyfriend. She said not quite long after the boyfriend was re-arrested, he was released. Later, according to her, the boyfriend came to her house to mock her, telling her that he had the police in his pocket. Angered by the action of the police, she went back to the station to complain again. But she claimed that the police insulted her and in the process of exchanging words they beat her and detained her in the cell, where they raped and tortured her until she collapsed and was taken to a hospital. There are wounds and scars all over her body as a result of the torture. When P.M.NEWS visited the station, police sources confirmed that Dupe was the complainant in the matter and that she was not satisfied with the way her case was handled. The sources said the matter resulted in a quarrel and Dupe was beaten, detained, raped and tortured. Now the police are turning the case on its head. Not knowing where Dupe is receiving treatment, the police claimed they are looking for her and that they want to charge her to court. The nature of her offence was not disclosed. When P.M.NEWS contacted the State Police Command PRO, Samuel Jinadu, he said he was not aware of the matter. He immediately switched off his phone.

Our judicial system is so corrupt you could pay 2 thousand naira for an eight year jail term |
Exactly! the Nigerian constitution stands supreme and that same constitution gives way for customary laws. That is why the customary court stands supreme in customary issues. this issue involeves the Prince of the Benin kingdom. And this same revered Benin Kingdom pays Mr Agbero Eriyo who assaulted the prince. He is liable to the customary laws of the Benin Kingdom. His fundamental rights is not being trampled on. |
Writer above you apparently do not quite figure the seriousness of this matter. A revered institution was brought to disrepute. Let's think the unthinkable that someone on the payroll of British government turned around and beat up any member of the Britain’s royal family, That beating would trigger 2 forces. 1. The law of the land would punish the person for assault and battery. 2. The person would also face various offences for endangering the life of a member of the royal family and public mischief for bringing disrepute to a revered British institution. The massive outrage that would follow will dominate the news for days. In this matter Agbero Eriyo stuck his finger in asp net and so [he] should be prepared for what is coming his way. After all it is said those who live by the sword [shall] die by the sword. Eriyo did not respect the laws of the land and did not respect a revered institution and in so doing opened up himself to forces that are beyond his agbero powers. As for those of us Christians who would preach that the curse is wrong because Christ told his followers to forgive and to not curse… well remember Christ also taught that people should give to Caesar what belonged to Caesar and to God what belonged to God. If Eriyo knows his onions then he should begin immediate act of contrition and beg for forgiveness. Otherwise the devil just got a new job. |

IRKED by the assault meted out on his son, Prince Ekpen Erediauwa, by the Chairman of the Edo State Task Force Committee on the Vandalization of Pipeline and also the youth leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Edo State, Mr Osakpanwa Eriyo, the Benin monarch, Oba Erediauwa, yesterday, placed a curse on the alleged culprit after describing the action as a taboo in Benin Kingdom. PROTEST: Chiefs and elders of Benin placing curses on the Chairman of the Taskforce Committee on the Vandalisation of Pipelines, over his alleged assault on the Oba of Benin's son, at the Oba's Palace, in Benin City, yesterday. Photo by Barnabas Uzosike. This came as thousands of youths, dressed in red attire, market women and royal family members, protested round Benin City, yesterday, demanding for the banishment of Eriyo from the kingdom, explaining that assaulting a Prince of the kingdom was sacrilegious, and capital punishment should be meted on him. Meanwhile, the Edo State government, in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Peter Okhiria, yesterday, announced the suspension of Mr Eriyo as Chairman of the Anti-Pipeline Vandalization Committee, adding “all contracts in respect of revenue collection in Oredo Local Government Area are also hereby suspended.” See more photos here It will be recalled that Eriyo, who also doubles as the Chairman Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, Edo State chapter, had weekend, assaulted the Transition Committee Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area of the state, Prince Erediauwa during a meeting of the leadership of the ACN in Oredo council. But Osakpanwa had denied that he assaulted the Prince in a statement. Reacting swiftly, the Oba’s chiefs, led by the Iyase of Benin, Chief Sam Igbe; the Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri; Obasogie of Benin Kingdom, Chief Eduwor Ekhator and the entire palace chiefs, went round the city, with pots of charms and placed curse on Osakpanwa after he was declared an enemy of the Oba. In a statement by the Chairman, Peace and Conflict Resolution in the Oba’s Palace, Chief Eduwor Ekhator, it said “no one can demystify the monarchical value of the Benin Royal Palace of the Oba. Attempt by any person or persons to destroy the long existing peace and unity of the Benin will be checked with rebuked condemnation. “The attempt on the Benin Prince was a demonstration of recklessness and lack of respect for a constituted authority. It is highly provocative, sacrilegious and unacceptable and thereby deserves total condemnation by every Edo son and daughter both at home and in the Diaspora. However, the palace of the Oba advises all sympathizers to obey the rule of law,” it added.
