The general overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said anyone who decides to contest in the 2023 election, is putting his head inside hot water.
Bakare stated this during an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday night.
He said: “Anyone plunging into the election in 2023 is just plunging his head inside hot water, and therefore you must go with a team and not go alone.
“Very shortly, you will see the formidable team we’re presenting to the nation like a shadow cabinet, these are the men that would do it.
“We are meeting right now. They don’t even understand what is about to hit the nation. It is going to hit it big time in a positive manner.”
It will be recalled that the fiery cleric was the running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2011. He played a key role in the petroleum subsidy removal protests of 2012 which greatly shook the then Goodluck Jonathan administration. He has been a critic of the Buhari led administration and once said that God told him that he will succeed Buhari in 2023.
The former University of Lagos trained lawyer turned clergyman has been a critic of bad governance since the 1990’s and has lent his voice to worthy, public spirited causes.

Ex Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has given reasons why the Nigerian Defence Academy was attacked on Monday, August 23. He said that terrorists who destroyed Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon were after Nigeria.
He also expressed regrets at the death of Major Christopher Datung even though the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) said he is still alive as at the time of this reporting.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 96 year old retired Nigerian soldier Pa Joseph Owherhi, in the Suleija area of Niger State for allegedly dealing in illicit drugs.
The nonagenarian was allegedly arrested in his house in the Rafin Sanyi area of Suleija on Saturday, August 21, 2021, with three kilogrammes of skunk.
A statement on Tuesday by the NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said the suspect confessed to the crime.
“He confessed that he had been living on the trade since he retired from the military in 1982, while he also claimed that he has eight wives and 50 children.”

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum has said that not all the repentant 2600 insurgents who surrendered to the government are criminals.
He reiterated that over 100,000 people were killed in insurgency attacks in the North East region since the crisis started in 2009 after the extrajudicial killing of the leader of the Boko Haram Group, Mohammed Yusuf in police custody.
Zulum said this while briefing state house correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, August 24.
He explained that many of the repentant insurgents were women and children who were coerced to join the movement while others who voluntarily joined and wielded AK 47 guns will be treated in accordance with the laws of the land.
Zulum said, “I came to brief Mr President over the ongoing surrender by insurgents. I think, to me, and the greater majority of people of Borno State, this is a very good development.
“In the last 12 years, thousands of lives were lost, people have completely lost their means of livelihood. We have a total number of over 50,000 orphans and widows; these are official figures.
“The unofficial figures are more than this, and we were able to cultivate not more than three per cent of our total arable land because of the insurgency and right now, the whereabouts of not less than 10 percent of people of Borno State is not known to all of us at all.
“This is a very serious matter and I think the report of the surrendering of the insurgents, to me in particular and to the greater people of Borno State, is a very welcome development. Unless we want to continue with an endless war, I see no reason why we should reject those that are willing to surrender.”

Mohammed Fawehinmi, the first son of the late human rights lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, died from COVID-19 related complications, his family has said.
The 52-year-old lawyer died at about 9:00 a.m. last week Wednesday, after a brief illness in a Lagos hospital.
However, in an update to what led to his demise, Saheed Fawehinmi, the younger brother of the deceased who spoke on behalf of the family, disclosed at a news briefing at his residence that he died from COVID-19 complication, NAN reports.
Fawehinmi said the family could not immediately disclose the cause of the death because they wanted the information to be based on factual medical details.
He said: “Today, however, we are in a position to inform you that our dear brother died from COVID-19 related complications.
“Arising from this, we want to urge all Nigerians to take necessary precautions to avoid being infected by the deadly disease, including, but not limited to taking the required doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
“The public should ensure the wearing of face masks, regular hand sanitising, hand washing with soap and maintaining social distance amidst the crowd.”

Former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu was buried in the early hours of Tuesday, August 17.
Prayers for the deceased were performed in the Sheikh Khalid mosque in Abuja, where family members, friends, and political allies had gathered.
Some of the dignitaries who showed up at the funeral are Dimeji Bankole, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State.
His remains were consigned to the grave at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.

A former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ibrahim Mantu is dead.
It was learnt that the former lawmaker died on Monday night in Abuja hospital after a brief illness at the age of 74.
Before his demise,Mantu was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party
He had been actively involved in politics which he made a vocation and served in many capacities and also held many political positions including as the Director General Defunct National Republican Convention, Presidential campaign 1993; National Chairman, defunct Peoples Democratic Alliance, National Publicity Secretay defunt United Nigeria Congress Party.
In 1999,he was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Plateau Central Constituency ) under the platform of the PDP and was appointed Deputy Senate President, 2000 .

American based media scholar and popular columnist, Farooq Kperogi recently wrote an expose on top five lies told by the current Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.
Kperogi disclosed that Buhari’s father is called Adamu Bafallaje (or Bafalle in Hausa).
He wrote: Muhammadu Buhari is a magnet for both extravagantly flattering myths and stubborn falsehoods. Here are the top five:
1. Muhammadu Buhari’s very name is wrapped in a curious omission. In most parts of the world, people’s last names are usually either their family name or their father’s first name. Not for Buhari.
Muhammadu (which his teachers spelled as “Mohamed” when he was in secondary school) is his first given name and Buhari is his middle name, not his surname. He was named after prolific ninth-century Persian Hadith compiler by the name of Muhammad al-Bukhari who was born in a city called Bukhara in what is now Uzbekistan.
Bukhari isn’t a personal given name; it’s a demonym, that is, a name given to people who come from a particular place, such as Nigerian, Briton, American, Lagosian, New Yorker, etc. Bukhari simply means a native of the city of Bukhara in Uzbekistan, a West Asian nation that used to be a part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).
In Muslim and Middle Eastern linguistic traditions, the letter “i” is usually added to the end of the names of villages, towns, cities, and countries to form demonyms. That’s why someone from Pakistan is called a Pakistani, someone from Israel is called an Israeli, someone from the UAE is called an Emirati, and so on. If the demonym of Bukhara were to be given in Hausa, it would be Danbuhara. In Yoruba, it would be Omobuhara. In my native Baatonu, it would be Buharagi. (My last name, Kperogi, is a demonym, and it means someone from Kperu, the short form of my hometown’s name, Senru Kperu, but which Yoruba people call Okuta).
So how did Muhammadu Buhari come to be known by his names? Because of the immense reverence that Muhammad al-Bukhari enjoys among Sunni Muslims, Muslims have historically honored him by naming their children after him, so instead of just calling them Bukhari (which they may literally not be since they may not be natives of Bukhara in Uzbekistan), they typically combine the man’s first and last names: Muhammad Bukhari.
Most Nigerian languages, including Hausa, don’t have the phoneme “kh,” which sounds almost exactly like the sound you produce when you are discharging mucus from your throat. The closest phonemic approximation of that sound is “h,” which explains why “Bukhari” is rendered as “Buhari” in many African languages.
Our Muhammadu Buhari doesn’t bear his father’s name even though he is so proud of his paternal ancestry that he gratuitously flaunts it. For instance, in his October 18, 1961 “Application to sit for RNA Qualifying Examination,” he called attention to his ethnic identity even when it wasn’t warranted. “I have the honour to apply for regular service in the Royal Nigeria Army. My name is Muhammadu Buhari and I am a Fulani. I am eighteen years old and I am in Form Six at the Provincial Secondary School Katsina,” he wrote.
Buhari’s father who gave him the Fulani bloodline he brandishes (his mother is Kanuri) was called Adamu Bafallaje (or Bafalle in Hausa). In fact, Buhari’s older brother who died in a car crash in the late 1980s and whose Buhari-lookalike son, Fatuhu Muhammad, represents the Daura/Sandamu/MaiAdua federal constituency in the House of Representative was called Mamman Danbafalle. (Danbafalle means son of Bafalle in Hausa, and Mamman is the Hausa domestication of Muhammad. It’s common in Muslim families to have many siblings named Muhammad, but they’re often differentiated with their middle names).
2. If you ask most Nigerians where Buhari is from, they will most likely say he’s from Daura. But he is not. His hometown, by which I mean the town where he was born and where his father lived and died, is called Dumurkul. It’s a sleepy roadside village in Katsina’s Maiadua Local Government Area, which is about three kilometers from Daura and about five kilometers from the last village in the Niger-Nigeria border.
A March 16, 2019 Daily Trust report on the village said Dumurkul is a Fulfulde word, which means “‘settlement for herders’, especially for those who stay for at least a year.” After his father’s death when he was little, Buhari lived with his mother’s Kanuri relatives in Daura and adopted the town as his hometown.
But he hasn’t severed his umbilical cord from Dumurkul. During this year’s Sallah festivities in July, his nephew and PA, Musa Haro, was knighted (or “turbaned”) as the Hakimi (or district head) of Dumurkul even though the village wasn’t officially a district.
In order to reconcile the contradiction of making someone a district head of a non-existent district, on July 27, 2021, Buhari’s village was mysteriously upgraded to a “district” and taken out of Koza District of which it was a village after “an emergency plenary to consider the request from Governor Aminu Bello Masari” was convened!
3. The notion that Buhari is ascetic is another lie that has refused to go away. Ascetics practice such self-denying habits as sartorial modesty, resisting lascivious temptations, shunning epicurean indulgences like drinking and smoking, etc. But Buhari has always been a flamboyant dresser and, until recently, a smoker, drinker, and a philanderer—like most everyday people.
In Dele Sobowale’s book titled Letting a Thousand Flowers Bloom (Ibrahim B. Babangida 1985 – 1992), Buhari’s past notoriety for unrestrained libidinal impulses was described this way: “He must have been some sort of a sexual athlete. One officer who served with him in two stations had this to say: ‘You can leave your money, bottle of hot drinks or packets of cigarettes with Buhari, go away for several months and return and find nothing would be missing. But leave your girlfriend or sister with him and you might return to find her pregnant.’ That might be an exaggeration but he had that reputation.”
As the reader can see, even in describing his sexual indiscretions, this quote couldn’t help but perpetuate the lie that Buhari didn’t smoke or drink. There are public photos of Buhari smoking and people who are close to him said he drank alcohol on the sly.
4. That Buhari is a brutal, uncompromising, ethically untainted truth teller is another enduring lie about him that appears to be nourished by his taciturnity. But he has told many big lies in the open. As a military dictator in the mid-1980s, he said Nigeria was the only country we had and that we should all stay in it to salvage it, but by his own admission he had never trusted the Nigerian healthcare system to take care of his health since 1977. He had always gone to London for his medical needs and is in London as I write this.
In 2014, he lied that he was too poor to afford his own presidential nomination form and had to take a loan from a bank. A few months later, however, in a ridiculously opaque, half-hearted asset declaration, his spokesperson said Buhari had “not less than 30 million naira” in his account (even N100 billion naira is “not less than 30 million naira”!) without explaining how someone who couldn’t afford a N25 million-naira nomination form in October 2014 suddenly had “not less than 30 million” when he took over power in May 2015.
Also recall that at the time he claimed to be too poor to afford his nomination form, several of his children were studying at UK universities whose tuition costs add up to tens of millions of naira.
Plus, as Petroleum Minister in 1977, he couldn’t account for $2.8 billion, which the legendary Fela sang about. And a probe of PTF, which he headed, showed that he squandered N135 billion. Newswatch’s report of the probe revealed that N500 million mysteriously disappeared from the coffers of the agency. It also showed that Buhari used N800 million on his “personal estate” and used N28 billion to buy “expired HIV/AIDS kits.”
5. It is now widely believed that Buhari has no school certificate, but he does, and it isn’t fake. One of Buhari’s surviving classmates in Katsina (who, by the way, doesn’t like him) swore that Buhari did take and pass his West African School Certificate. Although I had no reason to question the authenticity of his claim, the late Abba Kyari caused Cambridge Assessment, which administered the WASC exam in Nigeria in 1961, to release Buhari’s result.
He had 5 credits in the following subjects: English (C5), History (A3), Geography (C6), Hausa (C5) and Health Science (C6). He also had a P7 in English Literature. His grade in Mathematics didn’t show in his certificate because he got an F9 in it. That was a great result for the time—and even now. He could have gone to the university with the result if he wasn’t in a hurry to enroll in the military while he was awaiting his WASC exam result.

What must have caused either her or her handler to take it down immediately after achieving that feat?
Beatrice happens to be the second housemate to be verified on Instagram while in the house but unfortunately, her account has been deleted just a few moments after she got verified and some netizens are wondering if Instagram deleted it or not.
Some of her critics believe that the verification was fake which was why it was taken down by Instagram. Some are hoping that her social media handler took the page down for some reason and will restore it at the right time because it’s not easy to get the kind of followers she had and she has built the page very well for her publicity.
Being in BBN without a social media account isn’t going to be easy since it’s going to be difficult to reach out to fans and others to support you in the house hence we hoping something is done about Beatrice’s page as soon as possible.

The Arewa Youths Advisory Forum has called on the Federal Government to ban the popular reality show ‘Big Brother Nigeria.’
Speaking to newsmen on Friday, AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima, described the show as a calamity. He said government ought not to allow it to be aired because it promotes immorality and s*xual content.
“It’s a calamity for me; I never believed in BBNaija and I don’t think it’s fair because the show is an act of immorality. Such a spectacle should not be encouraged. I have often said that this show encourages immorality and that the Nigerian government should ban it, it should not be allowed to be broadcast in our country.
You see, a lot of people are watching to see acts of immorality, these s*xual things flaunting their n*dity, and they made it look like a ‘blue film’, so that is to be discouraged. I urge true lovers of the country to join hands and draw the government’s attention to the implication of this program which should be discouraged,”

The report, according to Instablog9ja, insinuated that the Kano State Hisbah Board has banned the sharing of the pre-wedding photos of the daughter of Emir of Bichi, Zahra Bayero.
The board has declared the sharing of these photos as a sin and this was revealed in a recent interview with BBC Pidgin by the Kano Commander General of Hisbah, Harun Ibn-Sina.
According to him, the Emir’s daughter is not above the law and failed to set a good example to other Muslim women adding that those Muslims sharing the Emir daughter’s wedding photos and videos have sinned.

Veteran actress Rachael Oniga will be interred in Lagos on August 26 and 27.
The popular thespian began her acting career in 1993 after her divorce.
Her first movie was titled Onome and her first Yoruba movie was Owo Blow.
The veteran actress has been featured in many popular Nigerian movies like Sango, a movie written by Wale Ogunyemi, directed and produced by Obafemi Lasode and Wale Adenuga’s television series, Super Story.
Recall that rumours were rife that the actress gave up the ghost after a battle with Covid 19 complications but the statement the family has released states otherwise.
According to the family, Rachel Oniga died from a heart-related issue she suffered for a short while and not from Covid 19 complications the public has been made to believe.
The statement partly reads: “With a heavy heart and total submission to God, we write to announce the passing unto glory of our beloved sister, mother and grandmother; Chief Rachel Tabuno Oniga. She died in a Lagos hospital at the age of 64, on Friday, 30th of July 2021, at about 10pm.
“Contrary to diverse reports informing that she died from COVID-19 complications, we write to inform the general public that she died from a heart related issue, an ailment she battled with for a short period before her demise.
We accept her sudden transition as God’s design and we see it as a function of a race of life well finished. Painful as it may be, we accept it in good faith and total submission to her maker”.

Popular actress Eniola Badmus has dispelled the rumour of the passing away of the former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
aking to her Snapchat page, Eniola Badmus stated that Tinubu is not joining his ancestors soon as he is going to live to be 230 years before he dies.
She wrote: “Y’all need to calm down ooooo… Tinubu is not dead oooooo…
“Baba no go die unless to ba 230 … yes you read it here 230 y’all need to chill,”
Recall that the Special Adviser on Media to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Tunde Rahman, dismissed media rumours that his boss is dead or sick abroad.
According to rumors on the internet today, July 31, the former Lagos state governor is receiving treatment at a foreign facility for an unidentified disease.
Rahman, in a statement, denied the report, stating Tinubu is in good health.
The statement reads
“His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is fine. He is hale and hearty. He is not in any hospital. He has no medical problem that would require hospitalisation.
Yes, he is out of the country at the moment. He will be back shortly. Anytime he travels out of the country, the next thing some mischievous people would say is he is sick, hospitalized, or has died.

Popular Nigerian Socialite Mompha has said that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) advised him to lie low after the arrest of Hushpuppi who recently pleaded guilty to online fraud.
Mompha made this revelation during an Instagram live session with OAP Daddy Freeze over the weekend. Mompha disclosed that he was advised by the anti-graft agency to delete his social media page and maintain a low profile after the arrest of Hushpuppi.
Mompha blamed the Nigerian-Dubai-based Big Boy Hushpuppi for his own arrest. According to him, Hushpuppi was stubborn and his high-handedness.
When you are big, you are big. I was with FBI agents one-on-one on October 19, 2020. They questioned me but couldn’t find any incriminating evidence.
”Remember that I was the one that brought Hushpuppi from Malaysia, since his arrest, people on social media have said that I will be arrested next. Some even go as far as tagging EFCC and FBI”.
”On the day Hush was arrested, I received a lot of calls and tags from different people. EFCC had to call me directly to close down my social media and maintain a low profile”.
”My case with EFCC was because someone felt the need to punish a big boy like me, all because of BDC’. Nigerians on social media love to gossip and bad luck for rich people. And it’s not my fault that I come from a rich home, I have even hustled all my life.”

Oniga, began her acting career in 1993, shortly after her divorce.
She was originally from Eku, Delta State.
Among her popular works are Out of Bounds, Owo Blow, The Wedding Party, 30 Days in Atlanta and Power of Sin.
In recognition of her contribution to Nigerian theatre, she was gifted an apartment in Ikorodu by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The sentencing of self-confessed internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi, has been slated for October this year. This is according to the United States Attorney’s Office at the Central District of California.

Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai in July 2020 for a multi-millionaire dollar fraud perpetrated by him and members of his syndicate. This week he pleaded guilty to various offences bordering on internet scam, money laundering, among others.
