A 48 years old man, Igbo Thomas has been remanded by a court for allegedly his three daughters aged 8, 4 and 18 months at a court in Awka.
Thomas, who is from Enugu State, is accused of committing the crime in Enuoji village, Enugwu Ukwu, Anambra State’s Njikoka Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Edwin Okadigbo, a spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra Command, said the suspect was apprehended for the crime on May 24, 2021 in Okolo Ani village in the Igbo Etiti LGA of Enugu State.
The suspect, who allegedly admitted to the crime, claimed he was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the crime.
“It will be recalled that on May 24, 2021, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State, arrested one Mr Igbo Thomas of Okolo Ani village, Igbo Etiti LGA, Enugu State, for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his three daughters,” Okadigbo stated.
“Upon the conclusion of thorough investigation, the suspect was arraigned at the state High Court, Awka, and remanded at the Awka Custodial Centre by the judge.”

Controversial former lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye has launched an attack on the qualification of President Muhammadu Buhari to represent the country in the Global Education Summit in London.
President Buhari is currently in the UK as he is one of the attendees of the Global Education Summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE).
The decision for Buhari did not sit well with Dino Melaye as he took to his Twitter page and slammed the president for having just a secondary school certificate yet representing the country on such a global platform.
He said, “It is very funny that President Muhammadu Buhari has gone to London to attend the Global Education Summit.
“It is funny and it is outing Nigeria in a very bad shape because I’m wondering what will president Buhari be discussing in a global education summit.
“This is the man that has just secondary school certificate, a school sat failure and unfortunately, that certificate is even missing. We have not seen it, no copy of it.
“And you are going to a global education summit where you have professors emeritus. Where you have intellectual mobile characters. And Buhari is going to sit down and discuss what?
“I was even thinking that he would send someone like the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to go and interact. Except the president is going to be deaf and dumb in the summit.
“Except he is he is going there to be an observer, I’m imagining what President Buhari is going there to discuss.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has said that there will be more confusion in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Accusing the opposition party of saying “illogical and inconsequential” things in an interview on Channels Television, Adesina also claimed that PDP administration at the federal level,conducted some of its meetings at the presidential villa.

He said:

“Between now and 2023, there would be more confusion in their ranks and there would be more depletions in their ranks, so that is why they say anything.
“However, anything illogical, and inconsequential they say. We were in this country when President Obasanjo was in power and the BOT meeting of the PDP used to hold at the presidential villa.
“We were here when President Yar’adua, when President Jonathan was there, they held meetings at the presidential villa. What are they talking about really?
“When APC dwindles from 24 governors to 19, do you hear a whimper from PDP one day rejoicing? It is all because they are losing ground that they are saying all these things. It is the way of politics.”

Adesina also said that the Buhari-led administration will unveil massive infrastructure in the country by 2022, that will make PDP governors see that they have been “backing the wrong horse”.

He added;

“Because 2022 particularly, will be the year of unveiling of massive infrastructure in this country. When I say massive, I mean massive.
“2022 is the year the president will likely unfold the second Niger bridge that the PDP built with mouth for 16 years. You see the Lagos-Ibadan expressway commission, You will see Abuja-Kano done to a large extent if not fully done.
“A lot of PDP governors will say, yes, we are backing the wrong horse, we are coming to APC. That is what will happen in 2022, particularly.”

Sahara Reporters Publisher and 2019 Presidential Aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, has been arrested at the Federal High Court Abuja as the court resumed the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
It was learnt that security agents picked up the ‘Buhari-must-go’ activist on the court premises during a Facebook Live session on Monday morning.
Kanu, who was earlier extradited into Nigeria from a foreign country, is facing terrorism-related charges before Justice Binta Nyako.
Journalists at the entrance to the court are barred by DSS officers from entering the court on the ground that they were not accredited to cover the trial.

The extradition hearing of embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, will hold in a court in Benin republic today July 22 by 10am.

Igboho is currently being held by operatives of Brigade criminelle in Cotonou. He was arrested on Monday night July 19 while attempting to fly to Germany with his wife, Ropo.
Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki in a live update this morning confirmed this development.

“I can confirm, he will have the opportunity to be heard at the Benin Republic court, they respect international law. It will be held today (Thursday) by God’s grace. The sitting will be held at 10am in morning at the Benin Republic court.
The court will determine the fate of the extradition and we’ll also have the opportunity to present our case especially on the personality of Igboho.
We know the magnitude of what the Nigerian government is trying to do if they try to get hold of Igboho but they will fail, by God’s grace
Their intention was to capture him (Igboho), but God fought for him” he said
It will be recalled that men of the Department of State Services raided his home in Soka, Oyo State in the dead of the night killing two of his aides and arresting his other wife as well as riddling his exotic cars with bullets.
Igboho rose to national prominence when he confronted the Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa and expelled them from there. He later helped bring peace to some other Yoruba communities that were troubled before he expanded his agitation into the Yoruba tribe breaking away from Nigeria.

Popular Nigerian billionaire businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu a.k.a Obi Cubana has opened up to BBC Pidgin on how he searched for a job to no avail after the completion of the mandatory National Youth Service Corps Program.
Obi Cubana graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He searched for job after the NYSC but he couldn’t find one.
He said: “After undergoing my compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Abuja, I started searching for a job all to no avail.
“That made me start some small jobs and from there I became a real estate agent. I usually get five percent of every task that is successfully executed. It was along the line that I and my colleagues met a man who asked us to help him furnish his house.
“We did it very well that he gave me N500,000 separately from the profit of N600,000 which I also made from the deal. That made it N1.1 million in total. It was after my NYSC that I made my first one million naira.”

Senator Dino Melaye has said that Nigerians who survive the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration should be given a certificate of survival and be heartily congratulated.
He highlighted that every Nigerian deserves the certificate because they have survived banditry, kidnapping, hunger and killings.
He said this at a function recently.
”I want to propose that at the expiration of Muhammadu Buhari as the President of Nigeria, due to hunger, kidnapping, bandits and killings, any Nigerian that survives, I move a motion that that Nigerian should be given a certificate of survival.”

Dino Melaye was elected into the House of Representatives and later Senate before a court judgement threw him out in favour of his arch rival, Smart Adeyemi.

He was a former supporter of Buhari and defected to the APC in 2015 before going back to the PDP. He has seen been a critic of the President. He is also known for his flamboyant display of his wealth as critics have questioned its source as he is not known to have any thriving business endeavour.

Former Presidential Aide on New Media to Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has described the arrest of Yoruba Nation Agitator, Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho as a huge tragedy.

The Federal Government has said that popular Yoruba Nation Agitator, Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho is trying hard to obtain a new passport with which he wants to use to flee the country.
It went on to say that the government had put Igboho on a no-fly list in order to make his apprehension easier, and that security forces had been ordered to arrest him wherever he was discovered.
A person whose name is on the stop-list is denied all constitutional rights and privileges that a citizen is entitled to in the security circle.
A letter from the Nigeria Immigration Service dated July 9, 2021, sent to the Director General, Department of State Services, the Inspector General of Police, and the DG, National Intelligence Agency, included the Federal Government’s directive against Igboho.
The activist, a leader of the Yoruba Nation’s separatist movement, was declared wanted by the Department of State Services on suspicion of hoarding weaponry to destabilize the country, which he has denied, but his whereabouts are unclear.
Since a midnight raid by the secret police on July 1 ahead of a big protest in support of the call for Yoruba Nation in Lagos, the whereabouts of Igboho, a leading figure in the separatist campaign for the Yoruba Nation, have been unknown.

The Senate on Tuesday bowed to pressure from Civil Society Organisations, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and other Nigerians and refused to confirm the Special Assistant on new media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie from Delta as a Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The denial was based on Federal Character Principle and to adhere strictly to the Act, just as the Senate said that she is from Delta and the state has May Agbamuche who is the Chairman, Legal Services, INEC.

Nigeria and Africa’s first Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka is 87 today, July 13.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Soyinka’s home state has felicitated Professor Wole Soyinka on his 87th birthday anniversary.
Abiodun, in a short message on Tuesday, said Soyinka was able to conquer the world with his works of art.
The Governor said heavens, on July 13, 1935 bestowed on Ogun, Nigeria and Africa, the rarest breed of humankind.
He boasted that only Ogun State could lay claim to the kind of enigma in the Nobel laureate.
His words: “On July 13, 1935, the heavens bestowed on Ogun State, Nigeria and Africa as a whole, the rarest breed of humankind.
“From being the conscience of the Nation, you conquered the world as a playwright, poet, essayist and public intellectual.
“At 87, we proudly celebrate an enigma whose kind only Ogun State has the privilege of laying claim to. Congratulations, Prof.”
Soyinka a world renowned playwright wrote ‘The Lion and the Jewel’, ‘Trials of Brother Jero’, ‘Jero’s Metamorphosis’, ‘A dance in the forest’. He wrote a novel – ‘The Interpreters’. He wrote many volumes of poetry as well as his memoirs –‘You must set forth at Dawn.’ Other works of his include ‘The Man Died’ etc. A novel of his will be released in September.
He attended Abeokuta Grammar School, Government College Ibadan, partly attended the University of Ibadan where he co founded the Pyrates Confraternity and finished up at the University of Leeds where he graduated with a Second Class Upper in English Literature.
He is a human rights activist and came into national reckoning in 1965 when he seized the radio station of the then Western Regional Government and suspended the announcement of rigged election results.
He has been married thrice and his children include Dr. Olaokun Soyinka, a medical doctor and former Ogun State Commissioner for Health.

Popular Human Rights Activist Deji Adeyanju has uncovered an agenda by the ruling APC to create a faction in the opposition PDP and destabilize it from within.
According to Deji Adeyanju, following the defection of some top PDP governors to the APC, some APC governors want to create a faction within the PDP.
He wrote: “APC will soon create a faction in PDP if care is not taken. You heard it here first.”
You could recall that some six people were arrested at the Dunamis Church on Sunday after the leaders asked all first-timers to come out for prayers. The new members in their #BuhariMustGo regalia stepped out in front of the congregation that drew a lot of attention for them to get carried away by the DSS.
In a post via his Facebook page, Adeyanju disclosed that Paul Enenche has no part to play in the arrest and he has already done all that is possible to see the release of the students but the authorities are not budging.
Adeyanju wrote: “DAY 5: The DSS has refused to release the Abuja 5 Buhari Must Go protesters who were arrested at Dunamis church despite all efforts by Pastor Paul Enechie to get them released.
“The DSS are now claiming the protesters were trying to instigate religious riots by going to the church. The tyranny of the Buhari regime is laughable. Like I said, the church had no hand in the arrest and detention of the protesters.
“I know first hand all the steps the church has made to get them released. Even today, the pastor has made several efforts. And I’m not been religious here, just stating the fact.”

The visuals for “Hustle”, one of the singles of Teni the Entertainer’s debut album Wondaland, clearly depict how life plays out for struggling creatives in Nigeria.

The video, directed by TG Omori and jointly produced by Lawal Shehu Tijani and Felix Abang, paints a picture of the daily grind. Every day and twice on Sunday, Nigerian youths struggle to successfully navigate their careers, rise above poverty, process the grief that comes with losing loved ones, shrug off undue pressure to make it, and live up to expectations.

You need to understand the definition of your dream, believe that said dream will likely pay off someday, and hope that even if it doesn’t, you still have the resilience to keep your head high. It is not easy trying to survive especially in a country like Nigeria. The price and sacrifice that come with fame sometimes leave you vulnerable. It’s also difficult to keep up with the physical, financial and psychological demands that come with being an A-list star.


In the video’s opening scene, we see a jaded Teni, who is trying to survive as an artiste. Her mother does not support her career, but she has all her father’s support to go ahead with whatever she wants to be in life. Her mother doesn’t want to see her try out music, in spite of her obvious flair for it. The video transitions into a tragic scene, where father and daughter are involved in an accident on Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge; she survives, but for her father, the accident is fatal. In many ways, this scene is a visual allusion to the death of Teni’s own father, Simeon Apata, who was killed in 1995.

The music video for “Hustle” deploys a nuanced multiple setting: some scenes are shot at the abandoned civil defence building in Lagos Island, while the rest of the action plays out at the Third mainland bridge. Nosa Creed of Creed Motion oversees the visual effects, Ben Aitar saw to the colouring of the scenes, and amidst the aerial movement of a drone supplied by Big Juice film works, Angelina Ella takes on the task of administering the wardrobe.

The cuts are efficient, there is a smooth transition between scenes, and the attention to detail is worthy of commendation. The costuming was well-thought-out, and two moments in particular – the burial scene and the shot of the car in the water – conjured enough emotion to make the scenes believable. The colours were infused into each scene to recreate a story of their own, and the editing made the video look a lot more aesthetically pleasing. It could be argued that some of the cuts ran too fast, especially in the final 80 seconds of the video, but then again, time is a factor in these things.

Videography is a form of storytelling, and “Hustle” is proof of TG Omori’s storytelling abilities. In an era where music videos are largely one-dimensional, his work stands out, and he deserves all the plaudits for translating Teni’s emotive lyrics into visuals that match.
