But hours later, in the middle of the night, she stole into my bedroom. Her soft tap aroused me. She sat on the edge of the bed while I looked at her dreamily.

'Sorry to disturb you,' she said. 'I just wanted to see you.'

I managed a grin. 'Hope no problem?'

She looked surprised by my question. 'Don't you like my coming?'

'Oh, you're always welcome.' I said, drawing her to myself and holding her in embrace. I made her to lie by my side on the bed.

'You can sleep here,' I said. 'Then, when it's five o'clock, you'll go back to your room.'

'Will that not be too risky? What if mummy comes to check me in the room?'

'Does she usually do so?'

She shook her head.

'Then, relax,' I told her.

I snuggled to her and was glad she was with me. It was already late in the night, so we suspended any further chat. We soon drifted to sleep.

She was the first to awake.

'I will have to go, now,' she said. I nodded and looked at the clock. It was five-thirty. I kissed her briefly and she left.

But wait a minute, was I not becoming too personal with her? What was this feeling I was beginning to have for her? What was this attachment all about?

I shrugged it off and prepared for work. In my office, I was so busy I forgot about Kike.

As usual, there were meetings and strategizing. The senator was around briefly before he left again. I finally closed for work few minutes to five.

Oh, what a day! As I drove home, my phone rang. It was Florence on the line.

‘Hello, Florence. Quite some time. How are you?’

‘Fine’, she replied shortly. ‘You did not even bother to call me.’

‘Sorry. I’ve just changed job, and I’ve been very busy.’

‘Oh.’

I smiled. ‘Don’t worry, the weekend is just two days to go. I’ll arrange for how we’ll meet.’

That seemed to please her. ‘Okay.’

‘Alright, see you.’

‘Bye.’

I cut the line. My mind had been full of many things that I had even forgotten about her. As I drove near to Onipanu bus stop, my phone rang
again. This time, from Bisola.

‘Hello, Bisola. How’re you?’

‘I’m lonely,’ she replied. Are you still at work?’

I grinned to myself. ‘No. Right now, I’m driving home.’

‘Where d’you live?’

My mind raced, but I calmed myself down. My parents had never opposed my bringing female friends to the house, so what was the problem? I
told her my address.

‘What? So you live in Ikeja here? Why don’t you stop over in my house?’

My mind raced again. ‘What about your mum? I left her in the office not long ago and I know that she would close anytime from now.’

‘She just called me that she would not be coming home right away.’

‘Really?’

‘Yeah. And in any case, there’s no big deal if she knows you came around.’

I sighed. This girl was assertive. ‘Alright,’ I said. ‘I’ll pop in to say hello.’

‘Okay.’ Her voice seemed excited. ‘See you.’

We finished the food and relaxed on the sofa. She lay on it and reclined her head on my lap. I held her hands and gently stroke them. She placed my right hand on her right boob. Now, I had had enough of sex for a day. As much as I desired her, I wanted to rule out sex with her that day.
‘I’m a bit tired,’ I said. ‘I’m not in the right mood for sex, now.’

She smiled. ‘Just play with it,’ she urged.

I smiled too. That should not be a problem. Gently and slowly, I caressed her boobs. Despite my tiredness, I could feel warmth in my groin. It was
a languid and infantile erection which I ignored.

‘When will you like us to have wedding?’ Helen asked.

The question surprised me as I had not thought of that. ‘When will you like us to have it?’ I parried.

‘As soon as possible,’ she replied.

I smiled to myself. That was not a bad idea. ‘Okay, but first, you need to know my people and I need to know yours.’

‘Yes. Why don’t you come to our house next weekend? I want you to meet my parents.’

‘Good idea,’ I replied. ‘I will do just that.’

She squeezed my hand on her boob. ‘I’ve always loved you, Steve. Ever since I started working for you.’

‘And I’ve always been holding you so dearly,’ I said.

What I said seemed to please her. She was with till many minutes after eight in the evening.

‘We’ll see in the office tomorrow, darling,’ I told her.

‘Yes.’

I gave her some money and goodnight kiss. Then, I accompanied her to where she would take a bike and bade her goodnight. I returned to my
flat and flopped on a sofa. Oh, what a day, what a

Weekend! It was one weekend I would never forget. But, again, it was one weekend I didn’t pray for its reoccurrence. I had had enough of
philandering life, I told myself. My mind went to Eno and I wondered how much she would pay me out of the money Anita asked her to give me.
Then, I remembered that I had not even touched the money she paid me days ago.

I went to my folder and removed the money. I counted it and sighed. It was thirty thousand naira. I decided that I would give the whole money
to Helen to buy something nice for herself.

I soon slept off on the sofa. The following morning, I prepared for office and set out early. It was a very busy day for Helen and I. more
depositors were coming to do business with us. Business was undoubtedly expanding. We worked hard till after noon when we had lunch. This
time around, we ate together. Thereafter, we continued with our work.

‘I’ll be going to meet a client later by seven p.m,’ I informed.

She smiled. That was one of the proofs that business would continue to expand. We remained in the office together till minutes to six before we closed for the day. I had earlier told her that she could close by five p.m, but she insisted that she would stay behind with me. After closing, I drove her to her house before proceeding to Ikeja to meet Eno in Biola’s house.

Midway to where I was going, Eno called me.

‘Hello, Eno,’ I greeted.

‘Hello, sorry there’s a change in plan.’

I frowned slightly. ‘What change?’

‘Don’t go to Biola’s house again. Meet me at that hotel where we met the other day. Ask of me there.’

I thought fast. The following day was Monday, and I would be having busy schedule in the office. I would be very busy probably till early evening. ‘I will call you tomorrow to let you know when I will be chance. Alternatively, can’t you transfer the money to my account? I can give you my account details.’

‘No,’ she replied. ‘It’s better I give you in cash. Remember it’s in dollars.’

I nodded. ‘Alright, I’ll let you know when I can come around to collect it but I think by six p.m., I will be chance. Where are we meeting?’

‘I can bring it to your house,’ she offered.

I was a bit alarmed about that. How would I explain who she was to Helen, if the two ladies should meet in my house?

‘Er… that may not be the best place to meet, especially about that time.’

I heard a sound that seemed to be a chuckle. ‘Okay, let’s meet I Biola’s house,’ she suggested. ‘What about that?’

I wished I could avoid going to Biola’s house too, but I had to agree to something. ‘Okay,’ I said. ‘What time tomorrow?’

‘Seven p.m is okay,’ she replied.

‘Alright, I’ll be there.’

I disconnected the line and sighed. I was now driving towards Obalende. I called Helen.

‘How’re you, my baby?’ I asked.

‘I’m fine. Are you at home now?’

‘No, but in the next forty minutes, I should be at home.’

‘Good, I’ll come and see you.’

I breathed in deeply. ‘Okay, darling.’

So, Helen still wanted to visit me in the house! Gosh! Those three ladies and the foursome we did had already sapped my energy. How would I be
able to cope with Helen coming around and showing that she was in the mood? I could not stop her from coming to my house, but I could stop
myself from any amorous act if I was discreet. I had to be.

I got to my house about five minutes to seven, and I met Helen already waiting.

‘Hello, darling,’ I greeted.

She did not answer my greeting. Rather, she rushed into my arms and hugged me as if I had been gone for years.

‘Good to see you, honey,’ she muttered.

‘Yeah, good to see you,’ I answered.

I kissed her softly and led her inside my apartment.

‘What a busy weekend you had,’ she said. ‘You really need to rest and relax my dear,’ she said.

I smiled and nodded. ‘Indeed, I will rest and relax.’

Helen brought a food flask out of her bag and opened it. There was jollof rice and beef in the flask. It smelt very delicious. She set it on the table
and went to the kitchen to bring two spoons, a table water and two glasses.

‘Let’s eat, darling,’ she said. ‘I know you must be very hungry.’

Oh dear Helen. It would be a shock for her to know that I had not only been eating and drinking, but had been indulging in all sorts of pleasures.

I wasn’t hungry, but I had to show appreciation to her by eating and claiming it was very delicious.

‘How I wish it’s possible for you to stay home tomorrow and relax,’ she said.

I chuckled. ‘Stay at home on Monday? No, I’ll rather not. Don’t worry, Helen darling, I’ll be okay.’

We finished the food and relaxed on the sofa. She lay on it and reclined her head on my lap. I held her hands and gently stroke them. She placed
my right hand on her right boob. Now, I had had enough of sex for a day. As much as I desired her, I wanted to rule out sex with her that day.

We continued to chat until mum came home. Some hours later, after my dining, I was in my room watching a movie when my phone rang. It was from unknown number.

'Hello.'

'Hello, Henry.'

It was a lady's voice. Now, who would that be?

'Sorry, who's on the line?'

There was a slight pause. 'This is Bisola Davies.'

I grinned. Of course, I remembered Bisola, but how I could not remember giving her my number.

'Bisola, how're you?'

'Fine. You must be wondering how I got your number.'

I grinned again. 'Exactly.'

'I got it from mum's phone.'

That explained it. 'I see.'

'Yeah. I don't know, but I'm wondering if I can get a raise from you?'

That was a surprise. 'A raise?'

'Yes, a raise of five thousand naira. My tablet phone got damaged and I need that money to get it fixed.' I was indeed surprised. This was a girl I
knew barely twelve hours ago, and she was asking for financial assistance!

'Why don't you ask your mum?' I asked, playing it cool.

'She won't give me,' Bisola blurted out. 'Just two weeks ago, I got that same amount from her, but the gadget has developed fault again.'

I sighed. 'How much did you say?'

'Five thousand naira.'

'How will you get it?'

'I'll text my account details to you, then you can do money transfer.'

Smart girl, I thought. But then, five thousand naira was no big deal to me. 'Alright, send the accounts details. I'll send the money.'

'Oh, thanks so much, Henry. I'll surely pay back.'

Really? 'It's okay.'

Few minutes later, I received her accounts details on my phone. Not wasting time, I sent the money to her. From the looks of things, Bisola would be a brash one. I used to like such type, but wasn't sure about that anymore.

My third day in the office was very eventful. We had two meetings and met with some party executives. The plans for the campaign and rallies
were obviously in top gear. I didn't leave the office until few minutes after six. Once again, I decided I would not be going to the club. The traffic
was hectic, especially between Jibowu and Palm Groove. It was also hectic between Anthony and Maryland. I finally got home eight in evening.

Mum was already at home, so Kike would not be giving me a welcome hug and kiss. I only got a warm wink from her. But hours later, in the middle
of the night, she stole into my bedroom. Her soft tap aroused me. She sat on the edge of the bed while I looked at her dreamily.

LiteratureRe: A Thorn In The Flesh by tonysunkan(op):
She folded her arms across her chest. I wrapped my left hand on her shoulders.

'You don't believe me?' I asked.

'I don't know.'

'But you should know.'

She didn't respond. Okay, she was playing games. I could play games too. I knew what to tell her that would make her smile and be warm, and I
would do just that

'My darling,' I started. It was the first time I would use such an endearment for her. I could feel her body glowing. I rubbed my hand on her back.

Then, I cautioned myself. Must I play this game with her? Must I say those things I had in mind to say, just to please her? I wanted to stop
myself, but I could not. But, what was special about Kike? Among all the numerous ladies I had dated, she was the one that had the least sexual
appeal to me. Did I even date her? What I not just flirting with her? She ought to be the least consequential among my ladies. What I should do
was to get on my feet and leave her room. If she refused to yield in to my flirting with her, I should forget about her. There were numerous other
ladies I could flirt with, ladies that were much better than her.

Alright, Henry, my mind said. Get up and leave her alone.

I could not. Right now, I had no sexual urge with her, but felt like being good to her. Everything should not be about sex.

I caressed her back again and she leaned her head on my left shoulder. Well, her warmth was returning and I somehow found myself glad about
that.

'How was work?' she asked.

The magic was working. I grinned to myself. 'Fine.'

'I miss you, too.'

I chuckled. 'Now, I'm here.' I placed her on my legs.

'My period has started,' she warned.

I didn't find that repulsive. Rather, I held her tighter. 'It's okay,' I said. 'I just want to feel you.'

She hugged me in return and we remained entangled for several minutes. I could feel her heart beat. I loved the feel of her chest on mine.

'When is your next birthday?' I asked.

'May five. Why did you ask?'

'That's just a few months from now. I asked because I wanted to know.'

I kissed her. I wanted to make it brief but end up making it long and deep.

When we stopped, she stood up from my legs.

'You've not changed from your office wears,' she pointed out.

'Oh, that's true.' I got up from her bed and walked to the door. She smiled and followed me. Like the previous day, she helped me to remove my
shoes and socks.

'What did you say are your future plans?' I asked.

'I will soon write UTME. I plan to gain admission to university this year.'

I nodded. 'What do you plan to study?'

She smiled. 'My first choice is law.'

I grinned at her. 'Oh, so you have the plan to be a lawyer. You really think you'll be able to defend cases in court?'

She laughed. 'I'll try to.'

We continued to chat until mum came home.

I nodded and thanked him. I got inside the building, climbed up the stair case and pressed the bell of the flat he directed.

In a jiffy, a voice called from within: 'Who is that?'

I cleared my throat. 'I'm the one sent by your mum to get the file.'

There was a moment of pause. Then, the door was unlocked and opened.

'Please, come in.'

I entered the living-room. 'Good morning,' I greeted.

'Good morning.'

Bisola looked like her mum, especially with her eyes.

'Are you Bisola?' I asked. The question was absolutely unnecessary, but I had the urge to ask it.

'Yes, who are you, please?' She looked at me all over as if she was making an evaluation.

'I'm Henry and I work for her.'

She nodded. 'Yes, let me get the file.'

She went to the dinning-table.

'I was told you're a student of the university,' I said aloud. 'Why are you not in school?'

She was soon back to the sitting-room with the file.

'Don't you listen to news?' she parried.

I raised an eye brow. 'What news?'

'Didn't you hear that ASUU is on strike?'

Now, I remembered. Florence said the same thing.

'Oh, I see.'

She smiled at me as I got the file from her.

'Thank you, Bisola.'

'You're welcome.'

I nodded at her and turned to go. 'Have a nice day.'

'Yeah, you too.'

I left the flat and drove back to the office. This time around, there was some traffic. It took more than one hour to get back to the office. About
noon, a truck came to deliver consignments of face caps and t-shirts bearing the name of the senator and the party logo. These were meant to
be distributed to people when campaigns and rallies started we sorted them out and arranged them in bales. By four o’clock, Ms. Davies informed
that I could close for the day. I had not seen the senator since morning. He had probably gone to attend some political meetings.

'I suppose you came with your car today,' she said.

'Yes, madam.'

'Good night, then.'

'Good night, ma'am.'

I changed my mind about going to the club, so I drove home. As usual, Kike opened the main door for me.

'Hello, Kike. How're you?'

'Fine.'

She was acting too cool for my liking. Rather than following me upstairs to my room, she went straight to her room. I followed her there.

'What's the problem, Kike?' I asked.

'Nothing.' She sat on her bed and I sat by her. I just felt I should say or do something that would make her to be excited.

'I miss you,' I said. She didn't say anything.

'Did you hear me?'

'Yes.'

'And you didn't say anything?'

She folded her arms across her chest. I wrapped my left hand on her shoulders.

'You don't believe me?' I asked.

'I don't know.'

'But you should know.'

She didn't respond. Okay, she was playing games. I could play games too.

She moved towards the door. ‘You’ve implied it. Alright, goodnight.’

‘Come here. That’s your interpretation.’

She didn’t answer me. I was surprised that she walked out of my room. Hey, what was going on? Why was she suddenly behaving like this? Yes, I had been playing with her before, but I had only had sex with her once. I thought she enjoyed the whole thing, so what feelings was she talking about?

What game was she playing? I thought she came around so that we could play a bit, but see how she diverted the whole thing! I was angry with her. And to say that she disturbed my sleep!

I switched off the television and resumed my sleep. The next morning, I dressed up for work at the same time I dressed for work the previous day. I would not need to wait for dad to take me to the place of work again. I was dressed in a white shirt, black trousers and black jacket. I decided that my job did not really require that I should be wearing tie for now.

A breakfast of cornflakes was waiting for me at the table.

'Good morning, Kike,' I greeted.

'Good morning,' she answered from the kitchen. I noticed that she had dropped using the title 'uncle' for me. I grinned and shrugged. She
remained in the kitchen while I took the meal. She was obviously avoiding me. I decided to let her be for now. My breakfast was over. I picked
my black folder and went out of the house. I would be going to my place of work in the car today and I would be going to the club after closing,
I decided. About a minute to eight, I got to the office at Yaba. I went straight to Ms. Davies' office to say good morning to her.

'Good morning, Henry,' she replied. 'How're you?'

'Fine, ma'am.'

I went to my office. Rasheed and Titi had not come. I brought my smart phone out to read some on-line news. The office assistant, Nancy, came
to tell me Mrs. Davies wanted to see me.

I logged off and went to see her.

'Please, you will do something for me,' she said as soon as I entered the office.

'What's that, ma'am?'

'There's a file I was supposed to bring along when I was coming to work this morning, but I forgot it on my dining table. My daughter is in the
house, and I've already told her I'm sending somebody over.' She looked at me curiously. 'You can handle that my jeep, can't you?'

Was there a car I could not handle? 'Sure, I can,' I said.

'Good.' She brought out the car key and handed it to me. 'Please, drive carefully. Go to my house. The number is 90B and the flat is upstairs.
Anyway, Sule the security man will direct you. You will meet Bisola, my daughter, and she will hand the file to you.'

I nodded. 'No problem, ma'am.'

She brought three thousand naira from her purse. 'In case, there's need to buy some fuel, use this.'

I nodded again. 'Alright, ma'am.'

I left her office and walked down the corridor. Just then, I saw Titi as she made her way to the office. I waved at her and moved on. Her car
was sleek and it made such a smooth drive. I might tell dad I wanted a change of car. The traffic was light so it took less than thirty minutes to get to her street.

Locating the number of her house posed a slight problem as the numbering was not in order. I finally found it and parked by the gate. The security man, the one she called Sule came to accost me.

'Ms. Davies sent me,' I said. He didn't let me finish the sentence as he interrupted.

'She no dey house.'

I grinned. 'I know. She asked me to get a file from her daughter who is in the house.'

'Oh, it is her daughter you want to see, ba?'

'Yes, to get the file she said I should bring from her.'

He nodded. 'Okay. Go inside. Their flat dey right side when you don climb up.'

Cyndi smiled and stood up, staring at me. I got up too. We went to the bedroom, and just like I did with Nancy yesterday, the lady and I briefly regarded each other.

'You've got to show me your stuff,' she said.

Of course, I would. Why else did she think I was there?

That statement kind of energized me. I moved to her and smiled.

'What kind of stuff do you want?' I asked. 'Do you want it gentle, rough, hard, soft, or what?'

Cyndi smiled. 'I want your best. Your very best.'

I nodded again. 'Okay. You'll get my very best, Cyndi.'

I held her small waist, pulled her to myself and imagined it was Helen I was holding. I could hear her breath and smelt her skin. I kissed her lips
and held her chest against mine. She yielded and gave a passionate kiss in return. The kiss continued and I could see that she enjoyed it. My hands moved up from her waist to the bust. She stopped the kiss to remove her clothes.

Concerning her breasts, I had guessed right: the tits were small. I switched off my phone, but decided I would call Helen as soon as this infamy was over. I then removed my clothes too and the kissing resumed. My hands moved up to her tits. I teased and played with the nipples. In the same sequence that I had taken Nancy, I took her and it felt so delightful to do so. After many minutes, Anita and Nancy came into the room and the orgy continued. We also had food and drinks, and other things that would make Epicure to be proud of us.

It was a very remarkable part of my life, despite the negative things it portended. By six p.m, I once again felt I had completed my service.

‘I’ll like to have a shower now, preparatory to my going,’ I told them.

‘So soon?’ Cyndi said. I was surprised she was the first to voice her dissension.

‘I’ve tried,’ I pointed out. ‘I was told the service would end on Sunday evening. Well, this is Sunday evening.’ I went on to shower and wear my
clothes.

‘Don’t forget to be here early on Saturday,’ Anita said.

I nodded. ‘Sure.’ There was no need to argue with them. But then, Eno hadn’t come. I would have to call her.

‘Okay, ladies,’ I told Anita, Nancy and Cyndi. ‘Have a nice week ahead.’

‘You too,’ Nancy said, smiling. I hugged each of them and left the house. I went to my car and drove out of the compound. I then switched on
my phone and called Eno. The clock on the dashboard showed the time to be twenty-five minutes past six o’clock.

‘Hello, Eno,’ I spoke into the mouthpiece of the cell phone as soon as she came on the line.

‘Hello, Steve. How’s everything?’

‘Fine. I’ve just left my hostesses.’

‘Good. Hope you had a nice time with them.’

I grinned to myself. ‘Sure, I did. Thank you for linking me with such great ladies.’

She laughed over the line. ‘You’re welcome. I’m sure, next weekend will even be more fascinating.’

I did not have plan to be part of any orgy again, but I did not say so.

‘Yeah. So, how can I meet you to collect part of my pay?’

There was a brief silence. ‘I’m on Banana Island right now and I may not come around until late in the night. Maybe tomorrow, we can arrange for
how you will get it.’

I thought fast. The following day was Monday, and I would be having busy schedule in the office. I would be very busy probably till early
evening. ‘I will call you tomorrow to let you know when I will be chance. Alternatively, can’t you transfer the money to my account? I can give

‘I can bring it to your house,’ she offered.

I was a bit alarmed about that. How would I explain who she was to Helen, if the two ladies should meet in my house?

I chatted with mum in the sitting-room after the meal until dad came. He too asked how the job went and I told him it was well. After staying in the sitting-room for several other minutes, I excused myself and went to my room. I switched on the television and watched the news absent-mindedly. By nine o’clock, I had slept off with the t.v still on.

A couple of hours later, a hand tapped me gently and roused me from sleep. I opened my eyes to see Kike staring at me.

‘I was hearing the sound from the television and I thought you were still awake,’ she said apologetically.

‘Oh, it’s you,’ I said, quite dreamily. I checked the clock in the room. It was few minutes to mid-night.

‘You’ve not slept?’ I asked. It was obviously an irrelevant question, but I had nothing else to say at that very moment.

‘Yes, so I came to see you.’

I smiled at her. I was now fully awake and could see that she was in bum short and skimpy top.

‘Something is bothering my mind,’ she said.

I sighed and sat up on the bed. ‘What’s that?’

‘It’s actually a question I want to ask you.’

I chuckled. ‘A question for me? Well, go ahead and ask it.’

She hesitated. I held her hand. ‘Come on, Kike, go ahead and ask your question.’

She still hesitated. I moved my right hand on her back in a handling manner. My hand went to her chest, but surprisingly, she moved away.

‘What’s wrong?’ I asked, surprised.

She shrugged. ‘Nothing.’

‘Then why did you move away?’

She became mute. I drew her to myself and made her to sit on the bed beside me. My left hand wrapped her shoulders. ‘Why don’t you tell me what it is?’

She shrugged again. ‘It’s nothing.’

‘No, I won’t believe that,’ I put in. ‘Did mum say harsh words to you?’

‘No.’

Did you quarrel with anybody?’

‘No.’

I suddenly grinned. ‘Have I stopped treating you like a lady?’

Now, she hesitated and I knew what she meant.

‘Okay, I’m sorry if I have. Forgive me. I’ll compensate you. What do you want me to buy for you?’

Her eyes suddenly lit up, but then, she shook her head. ‘It’s not about buying things for me.’

I rubbed her shoulders. ‘So, tell me what it is about.’

‘It is a question,’ she said.

‘Oh, come on Kike, go ahead and ask the question. Okay, maybe you think I’ll get angry over it. I hereby promise I won’t be angry. So, go ahead.’

‘Will you answer it?’

‘Of course, I will, except I don’t know the answer.’

She took a deep breath in. ‘Do you have any other feeling for me apart from just playing with me?’

It was my turn to take a deep breath in. ‘Oh, what kind of question is that?’

‘You promised to answer it.’

I nodded. ‘Yeah, but I don’t know what to say.’

She stood up. ‘That means you don’t have any feelings for me except the lustful urge.’

‘Hey, I didn’t say that.’

She moved towards the door. ‘You’ve implied it. Alright, goodnight.’

‘Come here. That’s your interpretation.’

She didn’t answer me. I was surprised that she walked out of my room. Hey, what was going on? Why was she suddenly behaving like this? Yes, I
had been playing with her before, but I had only had sex with her once. I thought she enjoyed the whole thing, so what feelings was she talking about?

I laughed shortly. ‘Yes, he works in Abuja, but his constituency is here in Lagos State. He is daddy’s friend. Right now, he is in Lagos, preparing for his re-election.’

I moved inside the house and climbed the stair case to my room. Kike was on my heels.

‘So, what will you be doing for him? Are you the one to campaign for him?’ she asked further.

I unlocked the door to my room and entered. She entered with me.

‘Well, I suppose I’ll be part of his campaign team.’

‘You’re now a politician?’

I grinned again. Normally, I would have got irritated by her seemingly endless questions, but somehow, I was beginning to have a soft spot for her.

‘No, I’m not a politician, my dear Kike.’

I sat on the bed. She quickly came to my side to help in removing my shoes and socks. She never did that before, so I was quite surprised.

‘Thanks,’ I told her.

‘You’re welcome,’ she replied, smiling. I pulled her to me and kissed her deep, long and hard.

She was breathless by the time it was over. My hands went to her boobs and fondled them. I would have gone further than that, but a car drove
inside the compound.

She pulled herself away from me.

‘That must be mummy,’ she said and hurried out of my room.

I grinned as I saw her hurry away. Oh, what a loveable character Kike was turning out to be. I sighed and changed into t-shirt and boxer.

By the time I got downstairs, Kike told me that mum had gone to her room. I sat in the sitting-room to await her coming, but I didn’t wait for
long. Kike was back.

‘Mummy said you should see her in her room,’ she informed me.

I grinned at her and nodded. Then I stood up to go back upstairs while Kike returned to the kitchen. I knocked once and opened the door.

‘Evening, mum,’ I greeted.

‘Henry, how’re you?’

‘Fine. How was business?’ That had become my standard way of greeting.

‘Fine, we thank God. How’s your new place of work?’

‘Well, it’s not bad, but I’m learning new things.’

She nodded. ‘I know you’ll do well. I know you’ll adjust and do well.’

I nodded too. ‘I’ll try my best.’

I sat on her bed.

‘Have you eaten?’

I shook my head. ‘Kike is still cooking.’

‘I’ve told her to always start cooking evening meal on time. By seven p.m., the food should be ready.’

I didn’t say anything.

‘Let’s go downstairs and see how far she’s gone,’ she said further. I followed her out of her bedroom to the kitchen. Kike was in there, turning the
wheat meal she was making on the fire.

‘I thought by now the food will be ready,’ mum said. ‘You should always start preparing evening meal on time.’

‘Yes, ma,’ was all Kike said.

I lingered a bit in the kitchen until the food was done and mum dished it in plates. I went to the dining table while Kike brought my food. As usual,
the meal was more than what I could finish. Mum was always generous with dishing sumptuous meal for me. She too was at the table and while
we ate, Kike waited on us.

I chatted with mum in the sitting-room after the meal until dad came. He too asked how the job went and I told him it was well. After staying in

‘Bisola is twenty and studying biochemistry at University of Lagos, Unilag. She wanted to study medicine but had to settle for biochemistry.’

I nodded. It was not unusual to hear that.

‘I stayed at the G.R.A too,’ she went on.

Again, I was surprised. ‘Really?’

‘Yes. Senator Osho gave me the two-bedroom flat to stay. It’s one of the benefits of working for the senator.’

I nodded. I could see that indeed, the senator was generous to her.

The jeep drifted with the traffic along Ikorodu Road until it got to Maryland and turned left.

Several minutes later, we got to Ikeja G.R.A.

‘What’s the name of your street again?’ she asked.

‘Egunjobi Street.’

‘That’s not far from my place. I live at Akinbiyi Crescent.’

I knew the place as I had been there many times before. When we got to the junction that led to my street, I thanked her for the ride.

‘I’ll like to get down now, madam. Thank you very much for the ride and everything.’

She pulled the car to a halt. ‘You’re welcome.’

I got down from the car, waved at her and moved on. The junction to my house was less than four hundred meters, so I could easily walk it. It was few minutes to seven when I entered our residence. Kike came to welcome me and to hug me as if we had not seen for a long time.

‘How was work?’ she asked.

‘Fine.’ I grinned at her. ‘How was home?’

‘Fine too. I understand you’re not working for daddy again.’

‘Yes. I now work for a senator.’

It was a white lady that opened the door. She was probably in her thirties too, and she looked pretty, despite some freckles on her face.

'I'm sorry,' I said. 'But I'm looking for a lady by the name Anita.'

She smiled. 'What's your name?'

'Steve,' I answered promptly.

Her smile widened. She looked prettier with the smile.

'Please come in.'

I nodded and entered the living-room.

'Have your seat,' the lady said. I nodded and sat on the same seat I had sat on Saturday morning. I was very curious. Who was this lady? Where
were Anita and Nancy?

'Anita will soon join us,' she said in answer to my unspoken curiosity. Truly, that very moment, Anita emerged from an inner room.

'Hello, lover boy,' she said.

I smiled. 'Hello, Anita.'

She sat next to the white lady. 'Eno and Nancy went out but they'll soon be back.' She turned to the lady. 'Cyndi, the gentle man is Steve.

Steve, meet Cyndi, a friend of the house.'

I nodded. 'Hello, Cyndi.'

'Hi.'

Anita too smiled as she stared at me. 'Cyndi is one of us,' she said.

I wondered what that meant. Wait a minute, did that mean Cyndi would be joining in the orgy? Oh Lord!

I sighed and studied Cyndi. She was a blonde with oblong face. Even from the little I could see of her chest, I thought she had small tits. Wait a minute. I had never slept with a white girl, and somehow I felt excited about the prospects. But then, I could see that I was moving too fast. All within seven days, I had intercourse with Helen, Biola, Eno, Anita and Nancy. Now, Cyndi was about to join the list. Was I not going too fast?

But then, I remembered that I had made up my mind to stop the lust game after this.

'I suppose you're refreshed and energized for the task ahead,' Anita said.

I nodded. 'There should be no problem.'

She turned to Cyndi. 'You guys can go in now.'

Cyndi smiled and stood up, staring at me. I got up too. We went to the bedroom, and just like I did with Nancy yesterday, the lady and I briefly
regarded each other.

'You've got to show me your stuff,' she said.

Of course, I would. Why else did she think I was there?

That statement kind of energized me. I moved to her and smiled.

I told her the street and the area.

‘Interesting. Are you on your own or still living with your parents?’

‘I’m living with them,’ I answered.

She nodded. ‘That means you’re still a kid.’

I didn’t like that remark, but didn’t say anything.

‘Anyway,’ she went on, ‘there are some rooms in the boys quarters of this building. You can pick a room there. Anytime there’s meeting up till late
in the night, you can sleep there.’

I nodded. ‘Thank you, ma’am.’

There were no more interesting events for the rest of that day, but I noticed that the senator kept receiving visitors upon visitors until he left
around three p.m. I was back in the office I shared with Titi and Rasheed, but the duo soon told me they would be going to Surulere for another
meeting.

I was amazed that they would be attending yet another meeting. I remained in the office till few minutes after four, mostly watching the cable
news from the flat screen. I popped inside Ms. Davies’ office.

‘Well done, ma’am. Sorry, what’s the closing time?’

She grinned. ‘No fixed closing time. Sometimes, you can go home by four, and sometimes, you’ll remain in office till ten in the night.’

I nodded. Since I didn’t have any other thing to do that day, that meant I could close. Ten minutes later, I closed and went to bid her good
night.

‘Do you have a ride?’ she asked.

‘Yes, but I didn’t bring it today.’

‘If you don’t mind, wait for another fifteen minutes or so, I can give you a lift to Ikeja.’

I smiled. ‘That will be appreciated.

So, I had to go back to the office I used and waited for her. Thirty minutes later, she called me that she was ready. I took my folder and we
went out of the building. Her car was the Lexus jeep in the car park. She unlocked the car and I went to the passenger’s side. She drove slowly
like somebody who was still learning or who was not used to Lagos traffic.

‘So, where were you working before you joined us?’ she asked.

‘I worked at Alashe and Associates, a firm of architects.’

She nodded. ‘How old are you?’

I grinned and told her.

She nodded again. ‘I have a daughter in the university.’

My eyes popped out briefly. ‘Really?’

She must have noticed the surprise in my tone. ‘Yes. And why’re you surprised? You don’t expect that at my age, my daughter should be in the
day care, do you?’

No, I didn’t. All the same, I didn’t expect that she would have a grown-up already attending a university. ‘No, I did not,’ I answered.

‘Bisola is twenty and studying biochemistry at University of Lagos, Unilag. She wanted to study medicine but had to settle for biochemistry.’

I nodded. It was not unusual to hear that.

The woman and I left the two men in the office. I followed Ms. Davies through a corridor to her own office.

‘Sit down, Henry,’ she said, motioning me to a seat.

‘Thank you, madam.’

I sat down and studied the office briefly. Then I studied the woman I was to work with. Ms. Davies was a bespectacled, pretty but serious-looking woman. I wondered how she came to be working for the senator.

‘Well, as the senator said, I’m Ms. Omolola Davies, the Chief of Staff. You’ve joined us at a time the political campaigns are about to start. Next week, the campaign will kick off, and as you’re aware, Senator Dayo Osho is seeking re-election under our great party which has already given him the ticket, based on his meritorious service to his constituency.’

She paused to stare briefly at me. I was not surprised she appeared to be verbose. Many politician and their aides were.

‘You’ll have to prove that you’re capable and competent to handle whatever task is assigned to you. In a place like this, I must tell you that it’s
not a tea party. There’s a big work to do and you just have to be up and doing. You have only three months to prove that you’re capable. At the end of your three months with us, I’ll give the honorable senator reports on your evaluation performance. You’re out if you don’t measure up. Do you understand?’

I nodded. ‘Yes, ma’am.’

‘Good. But if you measure up, you’ll indeed enjoy many things. The senator is a generous rewarder of those who do their work diligently. Do your
best, Henry.’

‘Yes, ma’am.’

‘Fine. Now, let me take you to your office.’

I followed her to a large office, where two workers – a male and a female – were already seated.

‘Here is Henry,’ Ms. Davie introduced. ‘He is joining us. Henry, meet Titi and Rasheed, members of the campaign team.’

‘Hello, Henry,’ Rasheed greeted, extending a pudgy hand for a handshake.

‘Good morning, Mr. Rasheed.’ I shook his hand and that of Titi.

‘Later, you’ll still meet with some other people that you’ll be working with,’ Ms. Davies said. ‘Meanwhile, you can occupy that desk.’ She pointed
at the desk at the extreme right.

I nodded and moved over to the desk. In my office at the architectural firm, I had an entire office to myself, but here, I was to share one with
two fellows. Well, things did happen that way.

‘Alright, see you,’ Ms. Davies said and left.

I braced myself up for the new challenges. When it was ten o’clock, Ms. Davies summoned me to her office. ‘A meeting will soon start on
campaign strategies. I will preside over the meeting and it’s holding in the conference room. You’re to be there.’

I nodded. ‘Yes, ma’am. But where is the conference room?’

She smiled briefly. ‘Don’t worry. You’ll soon know.’

Few minutes later, I got to know that the conference room was just down the corridor. It was quite large and could sit two hundred people at a
time. About six of us attended the meeting. I was keen in listening to them and learning how they operated. The constituency was zoned and we
were to meet with some party adherents at the zonal and ward levels on how to mobilize for the rallies and campaign proper. We also deliberated
on the materials and souvenirs to distribute to the people. In- between the meeting, food packs of fried rice and chicken was served. I suddenly
realized that this my new task was going to be interesting, after all.

By noon, the meeting was over. Ms. Davies called me to her office.

‘How did you find our meeting,’ she asked.

I smiled. ‘I must say it was very interesting,’ came my reply.

She smiled too. ‘This is just the beginning. There are usually meetings upon meetings, at different places. It’s not easy but the end pays off.
Where do you live?’

I told her the street and the area.

‘Interesting. Are you on your own or still living with your parents?’

‘I’m living with them,’ I answered.

She nodded. ‘That means you’re still a kid.’

I didn’t like that remark, but didn’t say anything.

After about ten minutes, three men emerged from the senator’s office. The intercom on the receptionist desk beeped and she spoke briefly into it. Then, she smiled at us. ‘The honorable senator is ready to meet with you, now,’ she said.

Dad and I stood up and went to the man’s office.

‘The honorable senator!’ dad hailed him as soon as we stepped inside the office.

‘Ah, the great architect himself,’ the man replied jovially. The two friends shook hands.

‘Good morning, sir,’ I greeted, giving a slight bow.

‘Hey, Henry, how do you do?’

He extended his hand to me for a handshake.

We took our seats.

‘I’m glad you and Henry are,’ Senator Osho went on. ‘I’m sure Henry has a lot to learn and a lot to do.’

‘I’m sure too,’ dad replied. ‘It’s more like he’s under tutelage for now.’

The other man nodded. He soon picked his phone.

‘Yeah, I want you in my office now,’ he spoke into the mouthpiece.

Few seconds later, a middle-aged woman came in.

‘Good morning, sirs,’ she greeted.

‘Good morning,’ dad and I replied.

‘Please, sit down, Ms. Davies,’ Senator Osho said.

Miss? I wondered. That woman would not be less than forty-five!

She nodded and took a seat.

‘Yes, here is Ms. Lola Davies, my Chief of Staff,’ the senator started. ‘She is the one that coordinates all my political affairs.’ He turns to me. ‘The young man is Henry Alashe.’ He faces Ms. Davies. ‘He will be coming in to join the campaign team, and will be working with us. You’re to assign
him accordingly. He’s young, but he has the intelligence and the energy.’

I grinned at his compliments. ‘Thank you, sir.’

The senator faced me again. ‘You will follow Ms. Davies. You’re to work directly under her and to do the tasks she asks you to do. Follow her
right away to start your work.’

I gave a bow. ‘Thank you, sir.’

Ms. Davies stood up and I did the same.

‘Be a good guy, Henry,’ dad said as he waved me off.

‘Yes, dad.’

The woman and I left the two men in the office. I followed Ms. Davies through a corridor to her own office.

LiteratureRe: A Thorn In The Flesh by tonysunkan(op):
‘Henry, you have a new task for you as from tomorrow.’

I sat upright. ‘A new task?’

‘Yes.’ He smiled in a way to douse my anxiety.

I tried to relax. ‘What’s the new task, dad?’

He smiled again and nodded. ‘As you know, my good friend, Senator Osho is seeking re-election into the senate of Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is representing Lagos State central senatorial district. I’ve discussed your issue with him. I want him to give you a political appointment in his new term, and he said the best way to go about it is for you to be part of the political train. He wants you to be introduced to politics at this budding age, just like his first son, Dapo.’

I was all ears. Politics? At my age? What the hell did I want to do with politics? I never fancied it, even at the campus level as an undergraduate.
Why would daddy want to introduce me to politics?

‘It will be good you start on time,’ he went on. ‘This is the introductory level. He may make you his personal assistant or adviser or something like
that. In that way, you’ll start learning the ropes. So, from tomorrow, you and I will go to his office. He is setting up a campaign team and you’ll
be part of it.’

I sighed. Just then, mum came to join us in the sitting-room. Dad must have told her about the plans, for she looked at me and smiled encouragingly.

‘Nigeria’s future is in the hands of youths like you,’ dad went on. ‘So, the earlier you’re propped up and groomed for that role, the better.’

Mum nodded. ‘Your dad is right, Henry,’ she put in.

‘Don’t worry or get scared about anything. Just let your mind be made up. You will learn and be fortified along the line.’

I nodded. I really didn’t have much choice, did I? ‘Okay, dad,’ I found myself saying.

‘That’s my boy,’ he said.

Later in my bedroom, I thought over the new task I had ahead of me. Well, as long as it would not prevent me from having my regular good
times, it would be okay. I woke up the following morning at my usual time and dressed up. By six-thirty, I was ready to resume my new duty. I went downstairs to the sitting-room to await dad.

‘Good morning,’ Kike came to greet me.

‘Good morning, Kike, how are you?’

‘Fine.’

Since nobody was around, I beckoned at her to move closer. Then, I playfully smacked her bum.

‘How was your night?’ I asked.

‘Fine.’

We could hear some footsteps coming from the staircase. She quickly moved away.

‘Will you like to have some tea or coffee?’ she asked.

‘Coffee, please.’

Dad came into the sitting-room. Kike and I greeted him.

‘Yeah, good morning.’ He looked at me. ‘I can see that you’re set, Henry. That’s very good of you.’

‘Thanks, dad.’

Kike brought a tray of coffee in a jug and a mug.

‘Get me a mug too,’ dad said.

We took the coffee briefly. I wouldn’t call that breakfast. There was no way I would regard taking only coffee as having breakfast.

We were soon on our way. We went in daddy’s Prado jeep. The driver, Mr. Jimmy, was in his crisp uniform as usual. He drove to join Maryland and
connected to Ikorodu Road.

‘Where are going to Senator Osho’s office,’ dad told him.

‘Yes, sir.’

The senator’s Lagos office was at Yaba. Dad and I had been there together in the past, but I never knew that one day, I would report for duty
there.

It was few minutes after eight when we got to the office. On the wall were his campaign posters and just after the gates were his giant bill
board and flying flags of the party.

The lady receptionist asked us to take a seat while she informed the senator of our presence. The receptionist hall left no one in doubt that everything about the place was political. From party flags to posters, party symbols and pictures of heavy political titans hung on the wall, you could feel the atmosphere in one breath.

After about ten minutes, three men emerged from the senator’s office. The intercom on the receptionist desk beeped and she spoke briefly into it. Then, she smiled at us. ‘The honorable senator is ready to meet with you, now,’ she said.

LiteratureRe: The Den Of Delilah by tonysunkan(op):
I grinned to myself, knowing that she was quite right. Yes, for God’s sake, I was supposed to rest; but for Devil’s sake, the rest could not come for now.

‘I understand you, my dear. But it’s just for today,’ I argued.

There was a slight pause again. ‘Okay, honey,’ she said. ‘Please, be careful. And please, make sure your battery is fully charged and your phone
is on.’

That, I could not guarantee, but I didn’t say so. ‘Okay, my dear. Don’t worry, all will be well with me, and I’ll call you.’

‘Take care of yourself, darling.’

‘Yeah. Bye for now.’

‘Okay.’

I disconnected the line and grinned again. That settled her aspect. Good. I had to be careful in dealing with Helen. I didn’t want to hurt her, but I
must complete the task, at least the first part of it, that was set before me.

I got to my house and went to the kitchen to see what I could have for breakfast. There was half a loaf of bread in the fridge. There were also
some eggs. I fried three and had a good breakfast. Then I took a pack of Lucozade boost.

I changed clothes and left the house by twelve thirty, taking my car. I was still within Ogba when Eno called.

‘We’re expecting you,’ she said.

I nodded. ‘I’m on my way, and will soon be there.’

‘Good. I know you’re reliable.’

I smiled. This Eno lady knew how to ‘toast’ a man.’

‘See you,’ I said.

The traffic was light, so I was soon at the gate of the house. I hooted the horn of the car. The security man came to peer at the car.

‘Hello,’ I said, smiling at him. ‘I was here not long ago.’

The guy recognized me and threw the gate opened. I drove in and parked at the spot where Eno had parked her jeep the previous day. I pressed the bell. The door was soon opened but the face I saw was neither that of Anita nor Nancy. I quickly looked around to ensure that I was in the right place.

I was beginning to get annoyed. ‘You made me believe it was for only this weekend,’ I said. ‘That’s why I accepted.’

‘All the same, Steve. You can’t abandon the task half way. You’ve got to complete it.’

I was boxed to a corner. This was terrible. Now, what would I do?

‘Any way, I’m going home for now to change clothes and refresh myself.

‘Alright, but you need to come back. By two o’clock, I expect you to be back.’

I cut the line, not knowing if I should tell her I had agreed or that I disagreed. My mind was busy. If I didn’t go back and complete the task for
the first weekend, Eno might argue that I didn’t fulfill my part of the bargain, and might not pay me. That meant all the efforts I had put in to
satisfy Anita and Nancy were all in vain. But what if she paid me for the work I had done so far?

On the other hand, if I went back, I could get at least part payment for what I had done so far. Since the first part of the task would be ending
that Sunday evening, I decided I would have to go back there. But that would be the last time they would see me. I would collect one third of
the amount they wanted to pay and kiss them good bye.

A car was coming from my behind. I stopped to flag it down. I had some money on me and paying the cab driver was my least problem. I had hardly settled in the cab when Helen’s call came through.

‘Hello, my dear,’ I greeted.

‘Oh, my God. Steve, are you okay?’

‘I’m alright, Helen. I’m sorry I couldn’t call you before now. I ran into an old friend yesterday on my way from Lekki. I was invited to his house. As
it was, his wife was celebrating her birthday. I was with his family till late night. It was the morning I realized my phone had switched off because of low battery. Sorry about that. How’re you?’

I grinned to myself, hoping she would be taken in by my lies.

‘Oh, thank God you’re safe. I was very worried about you. When I couldn’t get across to you, I was so worried. Thank God nothing bad or evil
had happened to you.’

I smiled. ‘Oh, my darling. I’m so glad for your concern. Thank you so much, darling.’

‘I will come to your house after I return from the church,’ she said.

My mind was frantic. ‘Oh, you know what? You have to exercise patience a bit. I saw two clients yesterday and one of them promised to
introduce me to another client at Lekki this afternoon. So, I won’t be around. However, I do promise to call you as soon as I return from there.’

There was a brief silence. ‘Steve, are you not over-working yourself? Today is Sunday and you’re supposed to rest, for God’s sake.’

I grinned to myself, knowing that she was quite right. Yes, for God’s sake, I was supposed to rest; but for Devil’s sake, the rest could not come for now.

I nodded. I remembered Eno said I would be paid in dollars. I had not even asked her how much it was.

'So, how much is it?' I asked.

'Five hundred dollars,' she said.

I nearly let out a whistle. I didn't know it was that much.

'And of course, the money covers three weekends,' Nancy added.

I stopped in my track. 'What did you say?'

'You're lucky, aren't you?' Anita said and smiled expansively. 'We've booked your service for three weekends!'

Again, I felt like whistling, not in excitement, but in exasperation.

'Eno didn't say that,' I pointed out.

Anita shrugged. 'She probably wanted to surprise you.'

Indeed, she had surprised me. Why didn't she tell me the details? Then, I remembered when she came to my house. My reluctance to accept the offer must have affected the decision she took. I thought fast over the development. I decided that I needed not argue with the ladies over the duration of my engagement. I would sort that out with Eno.

'Alright, I'll call Eno and we'll sought out things,' I said and tried to smile off the whole thing.

'But, you're not supposed to leave until Sunday evening,' Anita said. 'That's what I told her to tell you. That's our agreement.'

I thought fast again. That agreement would not hold. As far as I was concerned, I had given them the expected service, but I would be discreet
about my disagreement with their stand. 'Don't worry. This is a recess. I'll surely be back in the afternoon.'

The two ladies smiled and relaxed. I was all smiles too as I told them I definitely would soon be back. As I walked out of the guest house towards
the main gate, I switched on my cell phone. I had some calls to make. The first person to call was Madam Eno. Unfortunately, her phone was engaged. I thought of Helen. I had decided on what to tell her. I hoped she would not be able to see through my lies. But I would not call her
yet.

From the gate of the house, I walked down the road towards Falomo Road hoping I would get a cab. I tried to call Eno's number again, and this
time, the call went through.

‘Good morning, Eno. This is Stephen on the line.’

‘I know. How’re you?’

‘Fine. Thank you. You didn’t tell me you’ve got my pay, that the dollars I was to be paid is already with you.’

‘Yes. I was supposed to pay you part of it today, and the rest, later.’

‘And you didn’t tell me I was to be engaged for three weekends.’

‘I was coming around to tell you. That was my intention. Anyway, no problem. This evening, when I come to pick you, you get substantial part of
the money.’

‘I’ve left the place, now,’ I informed her. ‘And I don’t intend to go back.’

‘Why?’ she seemed surprised.

I sighed. ‘Let’s just say I’ve had enough of the whole thing.’

There was a brief silence.

‘You can’t do that, Steve,’ she said. ‘You can’t back out now.’

I was beginning to get annoyed. ‘You made me believe it was for only this weekend,’ I said. ‘That’s why I accepted.’

‘All the same, Steve. You can’t abandon the task half way. You’ve got to complete it.’

LiteratureRe: The Den Of Delilah by tonysunkan(op):
I was at first puzzled about how I got there and who the semi-nude ladies on the same bed with me were. Then, the memory filtered in. They were my dear clients and I was their prized pick. I remembered Helen. She must have been making efforts to contact me. My trousers was still where I had hung it - on a chair arm rest. I searched the pockets and found the phone. It was switched off. When the hell did I switch it off?

I switched it on. It soon revealed to me that Helen's number had been trying to reach mine over ten times!

I tried to clear my mind. What would I tell Helen? Where had I been and what had I been doing? Then, I realized that it was better to keep the phone switched off for now. I switched it off. Clad only in boxer shorts, I yawned and rejoined the sleeping ladies on the bed. These two ladies were weird! A week before now, I couldn't have imagined what happened to me. Taking on these two bi-sexuals would probably be the most outlandish thing I would ever do. Well, it was Sunday morning and it was all over. I would collect whatever money they paid me and would kiss this kind of job good bye forever.

I had already decided within myself and that my decision not to be involved in this kind of thing was imperative and final. I closed my eyes and soon slept off again. I was roused by two different hands that ran over my body. I opened my eyes and saw them at it. Anita and Nancy had woken up and decided to have another joint trip of fun. Nancy was by my right side while Anita was by my left. Nancy's right hand was rubbing on my tummy while Anita was rubbing my thighs. I thought they would be tired by now. Well, their action showed that they were not. I sighed and half-closed my eyes.

We engaged in that for another long time. When, it was eight in the morning, I felt my service should come to an end.

'I'll like to bath and be on my way,' I said.

They expressed surprise.

'I thought you're having the fun of your life,' Nancy said.

I smiled wryly. Yes, I was having the fun of my life, but I had had enough.

'I think the fun is okay for now,' I said, trying to be modest. 'Besides, today is Sunday, and I'll like to go for service.'

The two ladies burst out laughing. What was funny?

'You mean you're going to church after all this?' Anita asked.

'Yes,' I replied. I didn't mean it, but I needed to say something to get out of their snare.

I went to the bathroom and ran cold shower on my head. I felt refreshed, just as I remembered Helen again. I must find means of communicating
to her. I returned to the bedroom, and without creaming my body, started wearing my clothes. The two ladies gazed at me as I zipped up my
trousers.

'We can hold a service here,' Anita said.

I paused in what I was doing. 'Excuse me?'

She smiled as she stared into my face. 'I said we could hold a service here.'

She must be joking, I thought. 'What service are you talking about?'

'The one you're talking about,' she replied. 'Nancy and I will be the choir. We're good at singing.'

Jokers, I thought grimly. I shook my head and wore my t-shirt back. It was quite crumpled, but I wore it like that. Then, I looked at Anita and asked an important question: 'What about my pay?'

Anita looked surprised. 'Your pay? I gave Eno the money to give you early yesterday morning. You mean she didn't give you?'

It was my turn to be surprised. 'No, she did not.'

Anita looked curiously, but briefly. 'I suppose there's nothing to worry about. Get your money from her.'

That was a rare case. I tried to be gentle with her and she replicated the act by tightly holding me as if that would ensure maximum delight.

Several minutes later, we concluded our adventure. I could not really tell if I enjoyed it with her or not, but somehow, being the first time I would experience such, I felt Kike was unique among others.

She cleaned up.

‘You will need to buy some blood tonic to replace the blood you’ve lost,’ I said. ‘Let me give you money for the tonic.’

I knew she didn’t need any tonic, but I needed a reason to give her money.

I rolled some one thousand naira bills and gave them to her.

‘Thank you very much,’ she said.

‘It’s okay. Take care of yourself.’

I remained indoor for the remaining part of the day and could not go to the club as I had to give the impression that I wasn’t really feeling well since morning and had been forced to remain indoor. My mother was the first to come in about seven in the evening. She knocked at my door and came in.

‘How’re you, now?’ she asked, a little bit anxiously. She didn’t need to be. She had earlier called in the afternoon to know how I was and I had told her I was getting better.

‘So, how’re you now?’ she asked.

I grinned at her. ‘I’m okay now, mum.’

She sat on the sofa in the room beside me. I could understand why she loved to be caring, sometimes over caring. As the only child in the family,

I was always receiving such care.

‘How was business today?’ I asked her. She was a clothing merchant that had become successful in her own way.

‘Business is fine and we thank God,’ she replied.

She was with me for some minutes before she left. Dad didn’t come home until few minutes to nine in the evening. By then, I had had my dinner
and was watching movies. Kike came to tell me that he wanted to see me. I went to the large sitting-room downstairs to see him.

‘Welcome, dad,’ I greeted.

‘Henry, I was told you were not feeling fine and could not go to work. How’re you, now?’

I nodded. ‘I’m much better now.’

He too nodded. ‘Good to hear that, Henry.’

I sat down beside him and he allowed some moments of silence.

He
is representing Lagos State central senatorial district. I’ve discussed your issue with him. I want him to give you a political appointment in his
new term, and he said the best way to go about it is for you to be part of the political train. He wants you to be introduced to politics at this budding age, just like his first son, Dapo.’

I was all ears. Politics? At my age? What the hell did I want to do with politics? I never fancied it, even at the campus level as an undergraduate. Why would daddy want to introduce me to politics?
