Let me start by appreciating friends and fellow Nairalanders for the support, encouragements and suggestions they have given to me hitherto. I so much appreciate you all.

Thank you and God bless. This is another hot story.

Enjoy ....

I soon left for my apartment to start preparing for work. As usual, I dressed nicely, this time in an ash color, well-patterned kaftan. The black shoes were designers own and they fitted perfectly.

With my nice perfume, I knew I smelt and looked good. I was soon driving to the office. My phone rang and it was Kike that was on the line. I always believed it was not good to answer calls while driving, but she was exceptional, so I answered the call.

“Hello, sweetheart,” she said.

“Hello, my darling,” I replied. “How was your night and how’s the boy?”

“The night was fine, and Steve is doing well.”

“Ah, glory be to God. Glad to hear your voice.”

“I’m glad too. I hope you’re not allowing any Abuja babe to distract your love for your wife.”

I grinned. “Oh, no, I won’t allow that to happen, my love.”

“Good. I love you.”

“I love you too, honey. Don’t harbor any fear because there’s no need for it.”

We exchanged more of those nice words about missing each other before she hanged up.
Phew! She didn’t want me to be swayed by an Abuja babe. How prophetic!

In the office, I concentrated on my work and forgot about Linda. I was so busy I was at work till five p.m. before closing for the day. I got home few minutes after six. I was changing from office wears to casuals when the bell sounded. Linda was at the door.

“Good evening, Linda,” I greeted her.

“Good evening. You came quite late today.”

She came inside and sat on a sofa.

“Yes, I really had a hectic time at work.”

“I can see that.” She smiled kindly at me. “You look stressed up.”

“Yes, but once I rest, I’ll be okay.”

She nodded. “I guess you’re right.”

I switched on the television and sat by her side.

“How was your work?” I asked her.

“Fine. All went well.”

“What can I offer you? Mention any drink and I would get it for you.”

She smiled. “Maybe later. For now, I don’t need anything.”

She put her head on my left shoulder while I wrapped my hand around her shoulders.

“Do you see me as a shameless woman?” she asked.

“Shameless? Why must I see you as shameless?”

“Well, it’s not a common thing for a young man to be sleeping with an older woman in this part of the world.”

I grinned. “Once the feeling of desire is mutual, there is nothing shameless about it.”

“Are you comfortable with it?”

I nodded. “Sure. If I’m not, I will not be holding you so intimately like this.”

“Thanks for your understanding.”

I sighed. “You’re welcome.”

Months later, Linda and I continued to have our secret affairs. Deep within me, I knew it wasn’t right. I knew it was better that I remained faithful to my dotting wife, Kike. But I continued to find Linda irresistible. She told me she loved me and would do anything for me. That was crazy, wasn’t it?

I found myself being yoked by passion once again. Lustfulness had put me in big trouble in the past, and I would never forget that. It had cost me a lot of things; things I would never forget.

I rose up from my seat to prostrate for him. ‘Thank you very much, sir.’

He nodded. ‘I know your real reason of resignation is because of what had happened. Now, let me assure you that henceforth, we’ll be relating cordially as we used to before. On that note, there’s no need you resign again.’

I stood from my seat to prostrate for him again. ‘Thank you, sir. Thank you very much sir.’

‘You’re like my son. The issue of marrying my daughter must not cause a schism between you and me or between me and your dad. If Yetunde changes her mind, fine.

If she doesn’t, as far as I’m concerned, you’re free to marry whoever you want to marry.’

I thanked him profusely. For the first time in many days, I felt quite relieved from guilt and shame.

I called my mum to let her know what Senator Osho had said.

‘It’s good he has said that,’ she said. ‘He is giving you another chance. Henry, you must be careful. Don’t allow lust to cause you trouble again. There still good ladies around. Stop messing with ladies of easy virtues. Pray and pick one that will be a good wife to you. That is what you should do, now.’

‘Thanks, mum. I will do just that.’

That was how I continued to work for the senator, and continued shuffling between Lagos and Abuja.

A month after the issue, I was still very cautious about how I related with ladies. The incident had made me to realize that I could stay off women and off sex for weeks. I never thought that could happen.

In the spirit of forgiveness as demonstrated by the senator, when Bisola called me again, I picked up her call.

‘Thank God,’ she said. ‘Thank God you finally picked my call. I just want to let you know I’m very sorry.’

‘It’s okay,’ I replied.

‘Have you forgiven me?’

I chuckled. ‘Yes, but go and sin no more.’

‘Okay o. Thanks for forgiving.’

‘It’s alright.’

‘If there’s a vacuum in your heart that you want to fill, I’m still available.’

I shook my head. ‘I think the best thing at this junction is for us to go our separate ways.’

She was silent for a while.

‘Thanks for calling,’ I quickly said. ‘Good bye.’

‘Bye,’ she managed to say.

I cut the communication. There was no way I would still go for Bisola, after all that had happened, forgiveness or no forgiveness.

I actually hoped Yetunde would have a change of mind. This time, I was prepared to show her that I was completely changed person. I was ready to show love and commitment to her.

Three months after the incident, it was a conviction that Yetunde had kissed me good bye. The fact that she still refused to pick my call showed that she had foreclosed opening the door of her heart to me.

I decided that I had to move on. I remembered Kike’s ‘prophecy’. It seemed those words were coming to pass. Believe me, I wanted to dismiss her statement and forget about her, but I could not. In my sleep, I would dream about her. It was not really something intimate, but I always dreamt about having chats with her. After weeks of denial, I finally decided to call her.

‘Hello, Kike. Quite some time.’

‘Hello, Uncle Henry. How’s everything?’

‘We thank God. Things are not too bad.’

‘That means they’re quite bad.’

‘Yes, you can say that again.’

I allowed a short pause. ‘When will you be having holiday and when will you come to Lagos?’

‘We’ll be starting the semester exams next week. By upper week, the semester will end and I’ll be around.’

‘Good. I’m dying to meet you. Do you know my residence?’

‘No, I don’t.’

‘Okay, I’ll text it to you. I’m always around on weekends.’

‘Okay. What about the lady you want to marry? I hope she won’t be angry to see me there.’

It was obvious Kike was not updated about the events that had been happening.

‘You don’t worry about that aspect. When you come, we’ll talk.’

‘Okay.’

I was excited about the fact that Kike would soon be paying me a visit. I was having the kind of feeling I was having for he just before she started the university. Gosh, was this love or what?

She came on Saturday morning.

‘Hello, Kike.’

‘Good morning, uncle.’

She was in a simple blouse and skirt, but she still looked pretty in her simplicity.

I had prepared well for her coming. Earlier, I had bought a pack of fried rice and chicken from the best eatery around me. There was micro wave oven with which the food could be warmed. I had also bought some fruit juice and malt drinks.

Whatever Kike had said apart, I could see that she was a good wife material. Kike was decent, cool, pretty and God-fearing. If, indeed I had deviated from my previous lustful ways, then this lady was the best for me.

Then, I thought of kike. I was confused about how to place her. She said she had a conviction that I would be her husband, a statement I had dismissed as too late. Could I still honestly say it was too late?

But then, how could I even be thinking of her? Yetunde was probably distressed over the shock and the miscarriage. She would still come to terms and our relationship would be renewed, I thought.

A week later, it was becoming obvious that Yetunde had made up her mind to forget about me. She still refused to pick my call and even when I used unknown number to call her, as soon as she discovered that I was the one on the line, she would cut it off.

The week was a very difficult one for me. I was spurned by Yetunde and her family. Even her father, the senator did not look at me kindly.

My dad too was miffed by my behavior. It was only my mum that I could still relate with, though she too was cool initially. Just as Yetunde had refused to pick my call, I had also refused to pick Bisola’s call. I blamed her for the whole mishap.

If she had stayed off after I had paid her off, none of these terrible things would have happened. But, then, I should also blame myself for my unbridled libido.

Two weeks after the incident, I decided that the best for me to mitigate my feelings of insecurity and uncertainty was to resign from my work. I felt I would be better without the unfriendly posture of both the senator and Ms. Davies (who ridiculously accused me of seducing her daughter).

I first told dad about my intention and I wasn’t surprised he was non chalant about it.

‘Do anything you like,’ he had said.

On Tuesday morning, I wrote my letter of resignation. In it, I thanked my employer for the confidence reposed in me and his kindness. Then, I affirmed that for some personal reasons, I would like to resign my appointment with immediate effect.

I personally handed over the letter to him.

‘It’s a letter of resignation, sir,’ I said. ‘I thank you for the opportunity given to me to, and I’m sorry for all my inadequacies. Thank you, for your support, all along, sir.’

He was silent for some moments. ‘Did your dad ask you to do this?’ he asked.

‘Oh, no, sir. I did it on my own volition.’

He nodded. ‘So, what will you be doing, now?’

I had not even thought of that. ‘I don’t know yet, sir.’

He motioned me to sit down.

‘Let me begin by saying I was very angry and disappointed by what you did. You didn’t treat Yetunde with love and respect, at all.’

I nodded. For the umpteenth time, I said I was sorry.

‘But then, what has happened has happened. You’re a very hard-working young man, and I appreciate you for that. If Yetunde still changes her mind and says she will marry you, all well and good. I only hope you’ve learnt from the experience.’

‘Yes, sir.’

‘Now, I thought of this thing in another way. If you were to be my son, does that mean I will never forgive you? If Dapo has done something like this, does that mean he will never be forgiven? No, even when we offend God, he forgives us. So, on that note, I’ve forgiven you completely.’

I thanked him profusely. For the first time in many days, I felt quite relieved from guilt and shame.

Within few minute the news had spread. The first person to get to the hospital was Nike, Yetunde's younger sister. Later, Yetunde was discharged.

I offered to take her home, but she refused. Even my offer of paying for her cab was rebuffed. It was one of the saddest days of my life, but I guessed I took things for granted. On Saturday morning, dad summoned me to our Ikeja home.

In the sitting-room, a look at my mum's eyes showed that she had been crying. I felt so bad.

'I can't believe that my only son will bring this kind of shame and sorrow to us,' dad said, looking at me angrily.

'Henry, how could you do this?' he asked angrily. 'You have already got Yetunde pregnant and we're seriously planning your wedding with her. Then, you still went ahead to bring another lady to the house. How could you do that? Now, your action has triggered her miscarriage, how could you be so carried away by love of the flesh? How could you?'

I had no explanation to offer other than to say I was sorry.

Daddy was so angry that he stormed out of the house.

'Mummy, I'm so sorry I've put everyone in distress,' I told my mother. 'Truly, I'm sorry.'

'It's Yetunde you have to apologize to,' mum replied. 'You have sinned against God and against her.'

It was indeed a sad day for me. I left for Yetunde's house but could not see her. I was in the sitting-room for a long while.

She sent message that she didn't wish to see me. Even her mother and siblings avoided me like a plague. I soon left the place and was back in my apartment.

Maybe after a while, she would calm down and listened to me. I had been trying to call her lines but her phone was switched off.

Later Bisola called me. I had the mind of ignoring her call, but somehow I decided to answer her.

'How is she? I hope she's fine,' she asked anxiously.

'See what you have caused,' I said bitterly. 'She has suffered a miscarriage.'

'Oh my God. I'm so sorry to hear that.'

Her voice sounded like she was truly sorry; but sorry or not, she had already caused a lot of damage.

'So sorry, Henry, please take heart. I'll be calling you again. Bye for now.'

'Bye.' I cut the line and sighed. It was a very bleak day for me.

On Sunday, I remained indoor through out the day. I still tried to reach out to Yetunde, but I couldn't. This time around, her phone was ringing, but she would not pick it.

Towards evening, mum called me.

'How're you, Henry?'

'Not fine, mum. How're things over there?'

'Bad as it could be. Have you heard the latest from Yetunde?'

'I've not heard anything,' I quickly answered. 'I've been calling her lines, but she refused to pick my call.'

'The latest from the Oshos is that Yetunde has said she's not interested in going ahead with the wedding again and is calling it off.'

'What?!' I stood up looking really agitated. 'It's just a couple of weeks to the event. How could she do that?'
'It's like you don't realize that what you did was very terrible, Henry. It was a very bad thing that you did.'

'That's why I've been trying to call her. I wanted to tell her how sorry I am. I'm even ready to go on my knees or prostrate for her.'

'Let us hope she will have a change of mind. For now, the wedding is called off.'

It was another sad moment for me. How would I face my friends about this development? How would I tell them that the wedding would not hold again?

But, it was all my faults. I allowed the love of the flesh to ruin what otherwise would be a good marriage. I lost a prospective first child in the process.

I needed no preacher or prophet to tell me that I had been on the path of perdition. The only way to avert imminent and complete doom was to retrace my steps and shun lascivious lifestyle.

LiteratureRe: The Den Of Delilah by tonysunkan(op):
After resting the food a while, I went back to the sitting-room to relax with the television. I changed the station to a musical channel and watched keenly.

Koko came to meet me. ‘Sir, will you like to have wine or fruit juice?’ she asked.

I looked at her. ‘I think fruit juice will be okay.’

She nodded and went on to bring a tray containing a pack of apple juice and a glass cup. Wait a minute. The girl had changed her clothes from the modest ones she was wearing to a mini skirt and a skimpy top. If my eyes were not deceiving me, I saw a good portion of her cleavage when she stooped to pour some drinks in my cup.

I quickly got the fruit pack from her. ‘Don’t worry, let me pour the drinks myself.’

She smiled and left the sitting-room. I bet she wiggled her waist and bum a bit as she walked. What the hell was this girl trying to do? I suddenly realized that she had a good backside.

I imagined those breasts and thought of how firm and succulent they would be. Now that Eno was not around, wouldn’t this young lady be able to provide the comfort I so much sought from Eno?

‘Er, Koko,’ I called.

‘Sir,’ she answered and turned back.

‘Er, don’t you want some drinks too? You can get another glass and join me.’

She looked at me hesitantly, but only briefly. ‘Okay.’

She went to bring the glass cup and poured generous drinks for herself. Now, I was very sure I saw the cleavage and was not deceived by my eyes. She sat not too far from me, within an arm reach.

‘So, what are you doing, now? I mean are you going to school, learning a trade, or what?’

‘I’m a student,’ she answered.

I nodded. ‘A student where? What’re you studying?’

‘I’m a student of Chemical Engineering at the Cross River University of Technology, (CRUTECH),’ she answered. 'We’re presently on holiday.’

‘Ah, that’s very interesting,’ I said.

‘Thank you.’ Then, she looked at me curiously. ‘What d’you do?’

‘Oh, I’m a business man.’ I briefly told her about the Ponzi scheme I was into.

‘That’s interesting,’ she said too. ‘Maybe as time goes on, I’ll be able to invest some money in the scheme.’
I nodded encouragingly. ‘Yes, that will be a good idea.’

I looked at her laps and felt some excitement. But then, something strange happened. The image of Eno suddenly popped into my mind. I remembered our escapade together.

She was the one I should crave for, my mind said. She was the woman that could really satisfy me.

In a normal circumstance, I would go ahead and establish intimacy with Eno. But right now, I didn’t feel like doing so. I wanted Eno and no other lady.

Koko was smiling and goading me on, but I was no longer interested.

I stood up and picked up my drink. ‘Alright, Koko, thank you very much. I’ll like to retire to bed now. Goodnight.’

The girl was too surprised to utter a word. I went to the stair case and to the bedroom where I was well prepared to sleep alone.

Helen’s aloofness and coldness continued. I was now prepared to call her bluff. If she would not understand my position, then, there was nothing I could do. In fact, I felt Helen should go to hell. Eno was much better in bed.

Eno knew how to take care of a man much better. Eno was better than Helen in all ways, so why was Helen behaving like she could make me suffer with her hostility? Who did she think she was, trying to force me to love her and forget about Eno? If she was not ready to accommodate Eno in our relationship, then she should be ready to lose out. These were my thoughts.

Four weeks after I started living with Eno, I became addicted to her. I was at her beck and call and had to try hard to satisfy her. I actually enjoyed the whole thing. One thing was that she became extremely possessive.

Anytime I answered a call in her presence, she would want to know who was calling.

I wanted to say more, but her right hand moved from the chest to inside the boxer I was wearing and she tenderly held my joystick. Deftly, her hand moved over it as she caressed the organ. In response, the part wasted no time in becoming fully erect.

I removed her top and unhooked her bra. Her jaunty boobs sprang to life as I sucked her nipples. I could see eagerness and anticipation in her mood. She quickly removed her clothing, just as I did the same to mine.

In every sense, she appeared like someone that was sex-starved and needed a life-line. Right there in the sitting-room, we did things to satisfy each other's lusts.

We were so carried away we neither moved to the bedroom nor lock the door. And we were so engrossed in fulfilling our quest that we didn't know when the door was opened and an intruder came in.

'What ...!' I heard faintly. Then something thudded on the tiled floor. I glanced at the sight and saw a lady lying on the floor.

'What?!' It was my turn to make that exclamation. I quickly stopped the coital act, wore my boxer and rushed to see the lady on the floor.

It was Yetunde. The sight she had seen must be too much for her and she had fainted.

'Oh Lord,' I muttered, panic gripping me. 'Yetunde! Yetunde!'

But she was past responding to me. Bisola too quickly wore her clothes.

'She fainted?' she asked unnecessarily.

My mind was in frenzy. I had to decide what to do, and fast too. Quickly, I wore my t-shirt and wore a trousers on the boxer.

'I will have to take her to the hospital,' I muttered.

I picked her up from the ground while Bisola picked the small bag she, Yetunde, had brought. I placed her in the back seat of my car, went inside to take some money and my ATM card and locked up my flat.

'Do I follow you?' Bisola asked.

'No,' I replied grimly. There was a small private hospital not far from my residence. I took her there and called their attention to emergency.

They brought a stretcher to take her inside. As they were putting her on a bed, she opened her eyes dreamily. Then, I noticed that there was a blood stain on her skirt.

'Please, you have to excuse us,' the elderly doctor said. 'Kindly wait at the reception while we examine and observe her.'

I went to wait at the large reception room, cursing my luck and cursing the moment I conceded to Bisola's desire.

But why did Yetunde come around? Didn't she say she would not be coming as she was ill? Why did she come in at the very time Bisola and I were engrossed in pleasures of the flesh?

Above all, why did she not tell me that she would be calling?

Some minutes later, the doctor called me to his office.
'You will have to help us call one of her relatives, as she said she didn't want to see you.'

My heart sank. 'But, how's she? Is she okay?'

The doctor nodded. 'She's going to be okay, but the shock and the fall she experienced have made her to have a miscarriage.'

'What?' I stood up, shocked at the bad news.

'But, she's going to be okay,' the doctor said.

The pleasures I was having with Bisola had suddenly brought about sorrows. I was distraught by what had happened, to say the least.

I had to call my mother to say what had happened. But I did not reveal the sordid details. I only said Yetunde came in, met a lady and me in an uncompromising position, fell down and fainted.

Helen was not only sulking, I could see that she was trying to avoid me as much as possible. I tried to chat her up.

‘Helen, I like your hair. It’s beautiful,’ I said.

‘Thank you,’ she mumbled.

‘And your dress is also beautiful. It suits your beautiful body well.’

She only nodded.

‘Remind me by weekend. I’ll give you some cash to buy more of such beautiful dress for yourself.’

‘I don’t need more dresses,’ she said tartly.

‘Are you sure? Are sure you don’t want to look more dashing?’

‘I’m okay as I am.’ It was the same cold tone. I gave up.

We busied ourselves in our work. When it was few minutes to two o’clock, I called Helen.

‘You’ve not come to ask about what we’ll have for lunch,’ I said.

‘I’ve taken my lunch,’ she replied.

‘Really? When did you buy the food and you didn’t let me know?’

‘I brought food from home.’

‘Oh.’ Then I tried to ‘jab’ her. ‘There you’re. You brought food only for yourself. Is that not self-centeredness?’

She didn’t say anything.

‘Alright. Can you help me to get some food? You can still buy something for yourself, if you desire.’

‘I’m okay,’ she said as she collected the money from my house and went to buy food for me. I sighed and shook my head.

She bought only for me and returned the five hundred naira change from the one thousand naira note I gave her.

‘You can keep the change,’ I said.

She shook her head and left the money on my table. I sighed again. At the close of work, Helen did not even tell me she was going. She simply
left the office! Her bitterness was as much as that.

I first drove to my house and remained there for some time. Then, few minutes after seven, I left and drove to Ikeja. Eno still hadn’t come. Koko
prepared meal for me again.

‘Is madam not coming back today?’ I asked her.

‘I’m not sure.’

Not sure? She should be. ‘But she said she’s coming back today,’ I pointed out.

‘Yes.’

‘So, why’re you not sure.’

She paused slightly. ‘Normally, she would have called me to tell me what to prepare for her dinner. But, so far, she has not done so.’

‘I see.’ After my meal, I decided to call her.

‘Eno, baby. How’re you?’

‘I’m fine, baby boy. I’m very fine. How about you?’

‘I’m terribly missing, you, my darling,’ I said.

‘Oh, don’t worry. By tomorrow, unfailingly, I’ll be back. Then you can have Eno like never like before.’

I grinned. Merely recollecting a fleeting moment of intimacy with her gave me an erection.

‘I’m dying to have you back, Eno baby,’ I said.

‘Don’t worry. I’ll be back tomorrow. Bye.’

‘Bye, sweetie.’

I finished the food and relaxed a bit at the dinning-table. Koko came to clear the table.

‘Madam said she’ll not be coming again, today,’ I said. ‘She said unfailingly tomorrow.’

Koko smiled. ‘Okay, sir.’

I only saw Gloria briefly when she went to the kitchen to take her food. Thereafter, she returned to her room. That girl was a character.

After resting the food a while, I went back to the sitting-room to relax with the television. I changed the station to a musical channel and
watched keenly.

Koko came to meet me. ‘Sir, will you like to have wine or fruit juice?’ she asked.

I looked at her. ‘I think fruit juice will be okay.’

She nodded and went on to bring a tray containing a pack of apple juice and a glass cup. Wait a minute. The girl had changed her clothes from
the modest ones she was wearing to a mini skirt and a skimpy top. If my eyes were not deceiving me, I saw a good portion of her cleavage when
she stooped to pour some drinks in my cup.

My mind was busy. Just what was it that Bisola wanted to see me for that couldn't be said on the phone? Well, I shrugged. Then, when and where should I should as that we see?

I didn't want to meet her at the Lagos office as I didn't want to set tongue wagging over her. I also didn't want to meet her at any hidden place. Since Yetunde would not be coming to the house that day, why not ask Bisola to come over and give her just few minutes to discuss whatever she had in mind?

'Alright,' I said. 'I'm in my house, but I'll only give you few minutes to discuss whatever you have to say. Is that understood?'

'Yes. I clearly understand.' her tone now had tinges of excitement. 'Give me some minutes, and I'll be right over there.'

While I waited for Bisola to come, I wondered what was nagging at her mind. I shrugged. There was no problem without solution.

Twenty minutes later, Bisola breezed into my apartment.

'Hello.'

'Good evening,' I answered as I ushered her into the sitting-room.

I sat on the sofa opposite her.

'What could be so important and so personal that you could not even discuss with me on the telephone?' I asked.

She sat back on the chair, taking her time.

'What do you want to discuss with me?' I repeated.

'You did not even properly welcome me to your house.'

I grinned ruefully. 'I'm sorry about that. Do you want some wine?' I pointed at the bottle on the stool in my front. 'I can get you a glass cup.'

She nodded. 'That will be appreciated.'

I stood up and went to the kitchen. There, I picked a glass cup and rinsed it. Her purpose of coming couldn't be an exigent one, I reasoned, for her to want to take wine.

I returned to the sitting-room, filled the glass cup up and handed it to her.

'Thanks,' she muttered.

'You're welcome. She took her drinks slowly.

'Are you going to marry that lady?'

I was surprised that she was still in doubt. 'Yes,' I answered.

'Does that mean you never loved me?'

I sighed in exasperation. 'We've gone past this stage already,' I pointed out. 'Why're you going back to the past?'

'I'm now your past?'

I shook my head. 'Don't tell me your reason for seeing me is to ask all these questions.'

'No,' she replied. 'My reason for coming is not to ask any question. Rather, it is to tell you that I've realized I'm really in love with you and I missed you so much.'

I put the glass cup in my hand on the stool beside me.
'Are you saying that's really what you came to say?'

She nodded.

'For God's sake, Bisola, why can't you face the reality?'

'The reality is I'm in love,' she blurted out.

'No, that's not the reality. The reality is Yetunde and I will be getting married in about two weeks' time!'

'That's the reality from your own side,' Bisola said coolly. 'From my own perspective, the reality is I'm in love with you.'

I shook my head again. Honestly, Bisola was beginning to drive me crazy. If I had got the hint that this was what she was coming over to tell me, I wouldn't have asked her to come over.

She stood and came to sit by my side. 'Can you please show me love one more time?'

I moved away from her. 'Please try to understand the situation,' I said. 'In a matter of weeks, I'll be getting married. Not only that, the lady in question is already carrying my baby. The least I can do for now is to show commitment towards the relationship.'

'What about me?' she cried. 'What about my feelings?'
I shook my head again. Honestly, I was short of what to say. She came to me and held my hands.

'Is it to much that I ask that you show me love just one more time?'

Her hands rubbed on my chest. I should have asked her to stop. I should have told her I was sorry but could not be part of the salacious intimacy again.

Unfortunately, I could not.

'I'm not stopping your marriage,' she said. 'All I want is just a little bit of love from you.'

Her hands slipped under my t-shirt and went up to my bare chest. She cuddled the place, smiling.

'Before I go any further, we must have a deal,' I muttered.

'What deal?'

'The deal is this: this will be the last time you and I will ever have this kind of intimacy.'

She smiled triumphantly.

'Deal.'

'I'm serious about it,' I said.

Her smile became expansive. 'I know.'

'I must get a promise from you that I will not be bothered from you again.'

She playfully pinched my nipples, the smile still on her face. 'Deal.'

And we were so engrossed in fulfilling our quest that we didn't know when the door was opened and an intruder came in.

'What ...!' I heard faintly. Then something thudded on the tiled floor. I glanced at the sight and saw a lady lying on the floor.

The pregnancy had not become obvious yet, apart from a slight bulge on her stomach, but I had no doubt that it would soon become noticeable.

'What do we call her?' she asked.

'Hey, you're jumping the gun,' I replied. 'You can't tell yet if the baby will be a girl.'

'But I can tell. I have no doubt in my mind that it's going to be a girl.'

There was no need to argue with her. As far as I was concerned, it did not matter whether the baby was a boy or girl.

My parents too were happy for me, and for Yetunde. I supposed they were also happy for themselves that they would be grandparents. We all looked forward to the engagement and wedding days.

I forgot all about Kike and her prophesy. If she thought she could some words to deter me from going ahead with my union with Yetunde, at this point, she was making a very big mistake.

I had zeroed my mind on marrying the senator's daughter and no force on earth could stop that.
I was also relieved that ever since I paid Bisola to forget about me, she had stopped calling or disturbing me. For three weeks now, I had not heard or seen her. What a sweet relief!

Sometimes, I missed her unbridled love-making, but I was glad that I no longer had to worry about Yetunde finding out about her.

Two weeks to the engagement ceremony, I came back from my Abuja trip looking exhausted. I got to my flat about five o'clock.

Yetunde had earlier told me she might not come that Friday as she was a bit under the weather. I planned to visit her in her parents' house the following day, Saturday.

So, I had to take care of myself this Friday. I went to the kitchen to get a bottle of wine from the fridge. I would have to eat out later in the day. I was sipping the wine in the sitting-room when my phone rang. Surprisingly, it was Bisola calling.

'Hello, Bisola.'

'Hello, Henry. Are you back in Lagos?'

'Yes, any problem?'

'I have to see you.'

I was curious. 'See me for what?'

'It's very personal, but I have to see you.'

'But what is it about?' I insisted. 'Do you need more money?'

'It's not about money.'

'So, what is it about?'

'I will rather discuss it one on one with you. Can you arrange for how we can meet? The earlier, the better.'

Two weeks to the day of engagement, I got a surprise call from Kike, who had not communicated with me for several weeks since the emergence of Yetunde.

'Kike, what a surprise call. How're you and how're your studies?'

'My studies are going on well.'

'Good. You just try to do your best.'

'Thank you. Mummy called to inform me that you will soon be having wedding with the senator's daughter.'

'Yes, it's true. We've picked dates for the engagement and the wedding.'

There was a brief silence across the line.

'I thought you love me,' she said.

I was surprised she said this.

'Yes, I did,' I replied. 'But events have overtaken that. You yourself acted in a way that made me seek love elsewhere.'

'It was because I wasn't so sure then. But now, I've got the confirmation. God has told me you're my husband.'

I chuckled. 'Really? Is it not late for that to happen, now, my dear Kike?'

'It's never late for God's words to come to pass.'

'Yes, I know, but on this matter, I think you're making a mistake. You allowed my parents to intimidate you when they asked you to back off.

'And your subsequent lack of interest made me to embrace Yetunde. Now, you're showing me that you're interested again, after we've fixed the wedding date. Can't you see that it's too late for you and me to be intimate again?'

Again, she was silent for some moments.

'It's never too late for the words of God to come to manifest,' she said again.

I was becoming exasperated over her rhetoric.

'Kike, thanks for calling,' I said. 'Thanks and goodnight.'

I cut the line. It was late for her to say what she said, wasn't it? Months ago, I was ready to stake everything for her. I was ready to defy my parents for her, but she faltered and cut short my love for her.

Now, she was talking about God saying I would be her husband. What a theory! And to think that she thought I would believe that!

Well, I wished her the best. She was young and pretty and I had no doubt she would not be short of a suitor.
Yetunde and I started making preparations for our engagement and wedding.

She bought clothes that the two of us would use for the engagement. She even specified how she wanted the dress to be sewn. She was not only buying things for us, she also went on a buying spree for the expected baby. She went to a mother-care shop to buy things that a new baby needed.

I gave her some money for the weekend and we departed.

I kept seeing Bisola, just as we agreed and I had to do a lot not to arouse Yetunde's suspicion. sometimes on Saturday, I would lie that I wanted to go to the club. That one did not always work as she would declare her intention to follow me there. I had to devise the mean of leaving Abuja latest by mid-noon on Friday. Bisola and I would meet in my rendezvous and would be together for couple of hours before I would go home.

Two months after Yetunde and I became intimate, I came back home one cool Friday evening to get surprising news.

She had looked excited and I wondered what it was about.

'Guess what happened,' she prompted.

'I'm sorry, you know I'm not good in guessing,' I replied. 'Why don't you just tell me?'

'I'm eight-week pregnant,' she blurted out. 'I'm carrying your baby!'

'Really? That's great news!'

She gave a bear hug.

'It's good news,' I went further. 'What's the next step now?'

'What else? Marriage of course! There's no point in in wasting time again.'

She told her parents about the development while I told mine. Our parents swung into action immediately and fixed dates for the engagements
and wedding. Everything thing would take place within two months.

Next time I met Bisola in our meeting place, I made a lot of reservations.

'We can't continue to meet here again because the announcement of my wedding with Yetunde will soon be out. I can't take the risk of bringing
you here. Then, since I will soon be married to her, I think it is best to stop our affairs from now on.'

'If we can't be meeting here, there're other places where we can meet.'

'It's better we stop meeting altogether,' I said. 'Let's call it quits.'

'Finally, you're dumping me,' he said.

I shook my head. 'No. Finally, I've got to that junction where this has to stop. It's the reality before us. I still remember the promise I made the
other time, which is that I'm ready to compensate you.'

Bisola was silent. I could see that she was unwilling to let go, but she just had to live to that fact.

Reluctantly, she agreed that indeed we had had enough of each other and she should let go. I sent a generous sum of money into her account.
Our meetings ceased forthwith.

Two weeks to the day of engagement, I got a surprise call from Kike, who had not communicated with me for several weeks since the emergence of Yetunde.

'My studies are going on well.'

Anita looked surprised. ‘Wonderful, I can see that my sister has really worked hard on you.’ She picked up her phone and called Eno. ‘You will have to call him and tell him what to do,’ she said. She listened briefly and cut the connection.

I wanted to step out of the bedroom.

‘Wait,’ Anita said. ‘She’ll call you.’

Truly, my phone started ringing and it was Eno on the line.

‘Hello, baby,’ I greeted.

‘Hello, Steve. You can have Anita tonight. But only for this night o.’

‘Really? Are you sure about that?’

‘Yes. You have my approval. But it’s going to be only tonight.’

‘Okay,’ I said. I suddenly missed her. In all aspects, I believed she was a better companion and partner compared with Anita sister.

Anita was studying me, a half mocking smile on her face.

‘Well, d’you believe, now, lover-boy?’ she asked.

I grinned and nodded. ‘Sorry, but I just had to be very sure.’

She nodded. ‘It’s okay. Now, come over here.’

I went on to have her. But it was a surprise that I did not really enjoy the intimacy. I kept having the image of Eno on my mind. As I fact, I
mistakenly called her ‘Eno, baby.’

She could see that the verve I had in me during our first time together was gone.

‘Gosh, Eno must have done a lot on you,’ she said. I took that to mean Eno must have shown you so much love. ‘That’s why you could hardly put
energy into it.’

The following morning, as early as six in the morning, Anita left the house. I was certain she was disappointed with my lack-luster performance. I
dressed up too and went to work.

Helen was not only sulking, I could see that she was trying to avoid me as much as possible. I tried to chat her up.

I grinned and sat on a chair. 'You've not told me why you wanted to see me.'

'I missed you,' she said, coming to sit on my laps.

I shook my head. 'Is that why you want to see me?'

'Yes, because I missed you so much.'

Her hands went to the zip of my trousers and moved the zip down. Unlike Yetunde, she didn't really fancy kissing but the core action. She
removed her t-shirt and her black bra without any ado. Then she stood up to bring her skirt and pant down and off. She completely pulled my
trousers and boxer out. No pre-intimacy: just straight to the action.

Wow, what an action!

'I won't have the luxury of staying long,' I said. 'Yetunde is already complaining that I shouldn't be coming to office on Saturday and that I
shouldn't stay long.'

'She can't have you only to herself.'

I sighed. Maybe it was my fault. I guessed I was too weak. I was too weak to tell Bisola that it was all over and stood by it.

'How will you rate me?' she asked.

I smacked her bum. 'You're the best.'

She smiled. 'So, why aren't we getting married? Why can't you stick to me?'

'You already know the reason,' I said.

We remained together for another two hours. I had to insist that I would be going back home.

'I don't want to arouse her suspicion,' I said.

After the climax of another sexual adventure, she saw reason with me as she felt satisfied with my performance.

'I can't stop seeing you,' she said. 'During week days, call me when you're here in Lagos and you're free.'

I nodded. 'Okay.'

I gave her some money for the weekend and we departed.
