Unless you are one of those fools who believe in the colonial myth from 1900s that Swahili formed when East Africans came into contact with the Arabs when infact it existed before Arab arrival to the East African coast just under different names. It is 100% a indigenous African language from the Bantu family tree with 15% ~ 20% loan words which Arabic makes up the majority of it. Same as any language that evolves when it comes into contact with another culture. Lamu and others are of the Swahili dialect that contain no arabic words and Gede and Kilwa both which are Swahili cities predate Arab arrival. For example, All of Kilwa structures are made out of Coral reef mortared with lime. The place had an abundance of marine resources, particularly reef coral off the coast which natives harvested to build shit like stone houses, mosques, warehouses, palaces, causeways and much more which many still stand to this day in great condition.

It was founded in the 9th century, it is Kenya's oldest city and it was apart of the Swahili City States along the coast of East Africa. Its architecture has influences of Arabic, Indian, Persian, Chinese, Portuguese design because the city state attracted traders all over the world but the buildings are authentically African of Swahili work.

Prior to the Wagadou Empire, Africa was still mostly a bunch of tribal m0rons who couldn't even build a structure made out of stone. It wasn't until Europeans arrived, that Kingdoms like Ashanti, Benin, Oyo etc propped up and idiotically based their entire economies on slavery which you sold other black people into chattel slavery for dumb shit like mirrors, glass bottles, bottle caps, clothes, rum, umbrellas, matchboxes, and defected guns. Now its been almost 100 years since Africans gained independence and you lot still find yourselves in the same sitaution. Many African states have no clean running water. Most Africans still live in rural areas of their respective countries and have no electricity. Food insecurity is still rampant. Corruption is still rampant. Extreme poverty is still rampant. Still allow Europeans and Americans (now the Chinese) to take advantage of your country minerals because you elect dumb politicians with high school diplomas. Indians and whites are in control of some of your economies such as Zanzibar, Kenya, South Africa etc.

The problem here is that you don't just become export oriented in one day. The easiest is to begin with the agricultural sector. Adopt the Buhari policy of banning imports of rice and stuff like that which can be produced locally.
Local prices would be high at first due to lesser competition but with time more people would be encouraged to farm and export.
A rising cedi to the dollar at the rate it's going is not good for the Ghanaian economy at the moment because it affects everything.

Ghana originally had a import ban on rice and the government originally subsidised their rice farmers but when they went to the IMF for a loan, the condition was to lift the import ban and remove subsidies for said Ghanaian rice farmers. You can guess what happened next? The local rice farmers couldn't compete with the US produced rice (whose farmers recieved subsidies from their government) and fell into poverty as a result.

Cedi depreciation could make the jump for Ghana to be a export oriented nation possible since exporting shit will be comparatively cheaper. Places like Japan and South Korea artificially weaken their own currencies for this reason. Its just that if you were to import anything or travel aboard, it becomes more expensive as a result.

It also raises the price of goods but you wouldn't really have this problem if Ghana actually invested in its agiculture sector. 20.6% of arable land and over 7 million Ghanaian farmers yet NPP imports more than $2 billion worth of food that could be produced locally and banks make it hard for farmers to get access to capital and also screwing small businesses over with high interest payments.

Of course cutting such imports that could be produced locally would strengthen the Cedi too. Really, 1D1F initiative should of allowed boom of factories and creation of jobs via creating wealth and allowing Cedi to depend on itself. Thereby increasing the Cedi value. I don't know whats really happened there though.

Ghanaian shop owners are closing their businesses in protest to spiraling inflation and new taxations.

If that was the case then why is places like India so far ahead of every African state? More than 2,000 ethnic groups with varying cultures, customs, traditions, languages, and beliefs. Colonized longer than any current African state from 1858 until 1947. Experienced wars with Pakistan, genocides etc same as Africa in the 20th century yet just within 75 years since independence India is now the 5th largest economy in the world overtaking their former colonial master and has the 4th strongest military etc.

Ethiopia has been independent for like more than 2,000 years yet most of their history they were still stuck in the early iron age until late 1800s at the height of colonialism when Emperor Menelik II finally decided to modernize his country. They literally had a head start from the rest of Africa for more than 100 years and are still one of the poorest countries in Africa and the world today with most of Africa having already surpassed them interms of economics, lmfao!
