In a significant development, the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has granted a major advantage to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), as the court admitted crucial electoral documents into evidence. These documents were tendered by the LP and primarily consist of results sheets from polling units across 115 local government areas in six Nigerian states. The PEPC, sitting in Abuja, accepted the documents presented by Peter Obi and the LP in their case against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The documents, which originated from six states, pertain to the 2023 presidential election, according to The Punch. The LP and Peter Obi's legal team presented forms EC8A, which are polling unit results, as part of their evidence, as reported by Business Day Newspaper. Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra state, filed a lawsuit challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, which resulted in Tinubu being declared Nigeria's president. During the court proceedings on Thursday, June 1, the LP and Obi submitted the result sheets from various local government areas in Rivers, Osun, Ekiti, Benue, Cross River, and Niger states. Despite objections raised by Tinubu's legal team, led by Wole Olanikpekun, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and their opposition to the admissibility of the documents, the five-man panel of the PEPC, headed by Justice Haruna Tsammani, admitted the result sheets from 15 local government areas in Rivers state. Furthermore, Justice Tsammani also accepted the electoral forms from 23 local government areas in Benue state as evidence. The court made similar decisions regarding the result sheets from local governments in Cross River, Niger, Osun, and Ekiti states. Consequently, the PEPC panel adjourned further proceedings in Peter Obi's petition against President Tinubu to Friday, June 2, 2023, for the continuation of the case fm whatsapp,https://whatsappsdownloads.com/download-fmwhatsapp-apk/ Az WhatsApphttps://whatsappsdownloads.com/az-whatsapp-apk/ In a related development, President Tinubu, during his swearing-in ceremony at Eagle Square in Abuja on Monday, May 29, assured his opponents, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, that he would treat them as important compatriots, as previously reported by Legit. ng. The latest actions taken by the PEPC in admitting crucial electoral documents presented by Peter Obi and the LP serve as a significant boost to their case against President Tinubu. This development highlights the ongoing legal proceedings and underscores the importance of these documents in the overall electoral dispute. |
