Ogun: Sifting credible information By Wale Osunbiyi writes-in from Kajola, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area. olawaleosunbiyi2016@gmail. | Feb 28, 2018 3:00 AM TwitterFacebookWhatsAppTelegram
Barely days after the Ogun State launched its brand of rice- Mitros Rice reports surfaced online claiming there was no rice farm or factory anywhere in the gateway State where the rice was being bagged while some reported that the government mounted sand bags with some rice bags as part of its pyramid.
Some reports even claimed that it was not available in any shop or selling point for customers to purchase.
The sources of those reports will need to understand that we are no longer in the days of the ‘Invasion from Mars’ where some news sources can just believe their reports can lead to panic and successfully deceive members of the public.

Members of the public know better that they have the power to verify news reports in order to ascertain if they are true or not.
That is why it is imperative that sources of those reports visit the Eggua farm and others where the Mitros rice has been grown in the State.
Their reports have inspired me to buy the product as well as visit the Mitros Asero rice Mill where work has been on going under hygienic condition. At the Asero facility alone there are three rice mills. They also need to visit two major rice processing facilities at Asero in Abeokuta and Sawonjo in Iju LCDA. These are verifiable facts that cannot be hidden.
Although the state is in the process of selecting distributors for its brand of rice the product has been on sale at the Farmers Market in Asero and at the State’s Convenient Market known as Oja Irorun which holds at the Block D of the Government Secretariat, Oke-Mosan.
The state government has linked the report to various detractors who want to score cheap political points.
But this is not the first time some news sources have painted the State in such bad light. The recent false report about the relocation of the state’s School of Nursing from Ijebu Ode to Abeokuta is one of different examples. Instead of acknowledging the commendable effort of the government in getting the school accredited some online sources preferred to diffuse the online space with the false report. Again, it is a verifiable fact that the school is still located in Ijebu Ode and not Abeokuta.
Since the source of these reports are utilizing the weaknesses of the internet to achieve their parochial and vicious interests it is important for members of the audience to be more careful at jumping into hasty conclusions but rather take the bold step of confirming in various credible mediums.
AniOmaa: Na person wey no sabi those people go believe their oluwole tendencies, na so so fraud and deception dem sabi. They control the media in Nigeria for a reason, and all the narratives they have always pandered to, have been hinged on sheer lies and half-truths. They say the Igbos migrate to the SW and leave our "potopoto" region desolate, yet somehow the rate of real estate projects taking over the East are owned by whom? ghosts I guess, all the local manufacturing industries, businesses, firms etc and other economically viable concentrations in commercial nerves likes Awka, Nnewi, Aba, Onitsha are owned, operated and patronized by ghosts? I don't even think any SW town outside of Lagos beats Asaba where I come from on any index of urban planning. All the industries and companion located in places like Lagos, Ibadan and Ogun states are either owned by foreigners or other Nigerians especially Igbos (challenge them to list out all the top private companies in their states) you will find out that a good number aren't even owned by the indigenes.[b] But here in Delta stage which isn't even homogeneously an Igbo state, so many of the private sector companies are owned by Igbos. Needless to mention the SE where everything is 100% Igbo owned. How many major Yoruba owned companies(with the exception of Glo) are even operating on a large scale in the South South and North compared to the Igbos? The problem with those people is that they don't travel out- except of course when they run out of white collar jobs and run to the UK to clean toilets etc.
The bolded can only come from an illiterate, poverty-stricken region like SE.
My advice for you? Crawl back to that shallow den you crawled out from, and next time don't start what you can't finish, what you have no idea about.
But let me leave you with this little questions ;
Whats IMO known for?
What industries is dirty aba known for, apart from China repackaging fake, 6×6 shops tailors industries?
What Ebonyi known for, and where is abakaliki rice today?
What is the industry that is Enugu known for?
Let me see you show up here again and talk nonsense then I will show you pepper. Which one of these 5 eastern states are you from, by the way, to start with? Let's see and dig Nah. Nonsense!
Oil we get Cocoa we get Gold we get Ports we get. Refinery is under construction.
Yoruba should be the one harrassing everyone else and ontop of the harrassment we get whatever we demand.
Our accomodation of the whole is ancestral. Our leaders today do not want to deviate from principles and philosophies of living that benefitted our past and continues today to benefit us. To continue getting the benefit in future we must adhere to those principles, however dire and deeply offensive it is.
Imagine Sanusi Lamido for instance. Same person that said Yorubas are the problem of Nigeria.....when problem of Ganduje visited him where did he run for cover? Yorubaland.
Ibo said Lagos is no man's land but when election palava visisted them in Oshodi and Ikotun and they were caught on video stoning a Yorubaman what did they do? They called on Yoruba elders to intervene and calm street boys.
Exc2000: honestly I don't give a fvck about what you think about Osun state , but rather than showing negativity, why not also conduct your own research and statistics which you feel is more better than NBS's own or that of Oxford analytical, rather than lamenting on SouthWest Prosperity out of envy
Don't mind them jare, I provided some stats conducted by Europe , and UN , and even IMF all in a bid buttress and establish that of NBS
You can't wake a man pretending to be sleeping. Lailai
Sammy07: You are saying rubbish. You couldn't prove your Yoruba.
A normal Yoruba when ask to prove, with instance he/she will write in Yoruba Language
Same as igbo, it happens everywhere, Why won't you be able to prove where you came from.
But your first statement was that, we will be laughing at you Imagine
Later you wrote one incorrect Yoruba, even a 7yrs old kid knows that the Yoruba is not correct. It's just a simple mistake, there is no way, if you're really a Yoruba, you'll see the error, it doesn't even make any meaning / sense if you pronounce what you wrote.
Why will someone here on this forum will ask me to prove my Yoruba and I won't write all my sentences in Yoruba language??
Your post history says You hated tinubu You hated Muslims.
We're not even against you if you hated tinubu, but the Muslims part, it's not in the gene of a Yoruba to hate the religion of his fellow Yoruba.
Obiano's Lie In Education Exposed[b] by Spiritscience(m): 12:46am On Sep 22, 2017 What is trending now is how the lie told by Willie Obiano's media aides was exposed. The story went that two girls that were sponsored to a debate competition who came last position took pictures with the governor of Anambra State while brandishing placards bearing "we won" only for someone to check the website of the competition and saw that they actually failed woefully. Disillusioned Anambrarians are venting their anger at the deception now recalling several other deceptive information that had been passed on by the same government.
If you recall, I shared a post here about three girls from Anambra state who went to Bali, Indonesia and (supposedly) won the World Schools Debate. They are the ones in this picture, with their state governor. My heart is bleeding now as I tell you what actually happened. The debate consisted of 53 countries. Nigeria, represented by those girls from Anambra placed a distant 48 out of 53!!! Now that was not the problem. The problem is, probably the teachers or some other persons presented the teachers and the girls to the state governor as the winners of the debate. They printed a giant poster proclaiming WORLD CHAMPIONS. Both the teachers and the students worked in collusion. And that was how they were presented to the state governor who received them with beaming smiles. And quickly rewarded them with cash and sponsorship programmes to schools of their choice. Thanks to technology someone now saw the link and found out that the team and students scammed their own governor and deceived the whole of Nigeria, Africa and the world. What a shame. Now, are these the leaders of tomorrow? The signs ahead are dark and ominous. I weep. World Champions my bootlace!

Why UN rated Osun as Nigeria’s second richest state
THE United Nations’[b] Global Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index which ranked Osun State as Nigeria’s second richest state has three measurements and 10 indicators used to evaluate Overall Poverty. Every measurement is similarly weighted; every indicator within a measurement is additionally weighted and included. The index uses 10 indicators to measure poverty in three dimensions: education, health and living standards. The United Nations Global Multidimensional Poverty Index published a report on the poverty rate of Nigerian states that ranked Osun State as the second richest state.
Nigeria's Misery Index and How Osun Makes the Good Grade
Osun has been ranked the second less miserable and poverty-ridden state in 2017 in line with the objectives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank recommendations. Osun State has shared the same goal of raising living standards of its people[b]. Its approaches to poverty reduction are complementary, with the IMF focusing on macroeconomic issues and the World Bank concentrating on long-term economic development and poverty reduction. The implication of this ranking on the Misery Index is clearly desirable. The implication is good living standard of Osun citizens.
Beautifulminde3: I detest propaganda, for how long will you guys continue to deceive yourselves with magic statistics, can any one explain to me how Osun that ranked low in poverty, a state that ranked very poor in services, poor in industry and agriculture sector, low in national nutrition and and health survey conducted by USAID, UKAID and UNICEF 2018
Beautifulminde3: Don't worry I will show you both video and photo as evidence, I just want to see Ogun rice mill since they are third largest in rice production in Nigeria according to Yemi Kale NBS DG
overall90: There is nothing like embittered. lies are not good. it's only liars themselves that feel comfortable when concocted lies are presented as facts.
Oh really?
Shouldn't you also remind us about anambra $5million igwu export deal? How it went down, how far so far?
