ab1x:Thank you so much ab1x. I'm surprised to get a response with the same dimensions as mine though I plan to only go as deep as 4ft to make the harvest easier and conserve water. I shall have a look for you picture. I am a complete beginner so I hope a pond of this size can be managed with my limited knowledge. I do plan to attend songhai next year but I must experiment up till then. There is a vast amount o information about feed on this thread so this is my next challenge. To try and be economical with my feed but also give the fish the best possible chance. I am aiming for 1.5-2.5 kg within 6-8 months. Any advice on feed would be very welcomed as I can't seem to make up my mind. Thank you all for all the fantastic information. God bless |

Good day all. I'm new to this fantastic thread and I would like to say well done to everybody on their great work and thank everyone for sharing their knowledge. I'm am soon to start digging earthern ponds and would wish for some kind people to share some information if they wish. I shall tell you my plan and and criticism or guide nice would be much appreciated My partner and I have been discussing the size of each pond and decided 60 x 30 m I understand this is quite big and have been thinking recently that going smaller nights be best but what do think? The reason for this size is of course to have more fish. From my understanding I have calculated 2 fish per square meter. So 3600 fish per pond. Water supply is plenty. So what do you think? Thank you in advNce for considering my post. |
excelsiorfarm:You say make sure the fish is dry so bacteria doesn't make them sick. Is this just the case at the beginning? So do I start with a dry feed first then is it ok to move on to a local wet feed? Thank you in advance for any advice |
