Christopher Nkunku has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a heavy tackle from teammate in training. This coming just seven days before France's World Cup opener against Australia Nkunku, 25, was expected to play a significant role in France's World Cup defense after scoring 42 goals for RB Leipzig since the start of the 2021/22 season. However, a clumsy challenge by Madrid Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga ended the striker's hopes of a first World Cup appearance for France. Nkunku was seen limping out of training after the tackle from Camavinga . Nkunku has now been ruled out of France's squad for the tournament in Qatar. It is not clear as of now who will replace Nkunku. "Injured in training, Christopher Nkunku withdraws from the World Cup," France said in a brief statement. "The entire group sympathizes with Christopher and wishes him a speedy recovery." After revealing his pleasure at being selected for France's 26-player team just five days ago, The RB Leipzig forward had described it as "a dream come true". Nkunku will be heartbroken by the timing of his injury. ( Wait is this not the hand work of “village people” ? imagine getting injured in training by your own teammate just a few days to the start of the World Cup- This is why NIGERIANS cast and bind everything by ) Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt is expected to replace Nkunku in France's squad, according to L'Equipe. The 23-year-old has eight goals for Frankfurt this season and helped Nantes win the Coupe de France in May. |

After watching Manchester it’s humiliating loss at home to Brentford this afternoon, I ask myself why exactly have teams been so scared to face this Pep Guardiola side. No doubt they portray an array of attacking talent tutored by one of the best minds in the game right now but their defensive frailties have been exposed again this season. First it was the loss to Liverpool at Anfield after City had huffed and puffed all game yet all it took was a quick break- one long pass from the goal keeper, and Mohammed Salah had the ball at the back of city net. Prior to that game (and even after that game if I’m being honest) Liverpool had been so off color, they had lost to( toothless) Manchester United and Arsenal. So based on form Manchester should have had it easy against Liverpool but on that night they couldn’t seem to find a way to break down the Liverpool defense and as it has often happened when klopp faces Guardiola the German tactician came out tops again. The German tactician seems to know just how to exposed Pep’s coaching weakness, Something which is (if you ask me) an open secret. Pep’s team are renowned for possession football and creating lots of chances, scoring load and loads of goals but they have always being abysmally susceptible to counter attacks. This is how Jose Mourinho knocked out Barcelona in the 2010 Champions League Semifinal with his less fancy Inter Milan team, same way Chelsea got the better of Barcelona at the same stage two years later. Remember that late late Fernando Torres goal at the Camp Nou ( how could you forget ). Today is another demonstration of how discipline in defense and a good counter attack is enough to beat Manchester city even at the Ethihad plus you don’t really have to be a top team to execute this plan. Discipline defense and fast break and you have Pep Guardiola looking like he’s seen a ghost. So why exactly have teams in the premier league being treating this Manchester City team with so much fear like an jigsaw puzzle unable to crack, when all they had to do was hold and pull them apart on the break. Hopefully with this win at least Brentford have proven that Manchester city are humans and very beatable even in front of their fans, also Premier League defenders should worry less about Haaland going forward it is clear that he is just human after all. Perhaps this season is written in the stars for The Gunners, a win against Wolves and Arsenal would open a five point gap between them. With teams beginning to understand how to play and win Manchester city I think maybe just maybe this could be the season the gunners finally lay their hands in the EPL title.( if they don’t bottle it of course). ![]() |
