I love Lucky Dube. His music taught me many things. His background vocalists are superb. I love how he can change his voice to falsetto, I love his stage performances, very energetic and engaging,. Most importantly, the message in his songs. He was a prolific songwriter. He was also a social crusader. He sang about the many ills of the society- apartheid, bad governance, love and heartbreaks, juvenile deliquency, disunity, poverty, injustice, discrimination, crime, war etc

It's very unfortunate that he fell a victim of those very ills of the society that he campaigned about. May his murderers never know peace.

The real hard core reggae world super stars whom I also love so much are:
Bob Marley, closely followed by Peter Tosh. Some Rastafarians believed that Tosh was d real king of reggae, he taught Bob how to play music instruments though Bob was more popular & was more of a poet, philosopher and above all his voice was too good..Peter Tosh was a dogged revolutionist , a fierce fighter &believer of human right & equal justice!!!
Next came the likes of Bonny wailer who was also part of the wailers. U also have real root reggae stars like Burning spear who was inspired by Bob Marley.. U also have Joseph Hills known as Culture, Don Carlos, Alpha Blondy, Black Uhuru...Yellow man played reggae calypso which is not root reggae. He got his inspiration from Jimmy Cliff, another good old reggae star but with a different style spiced with calypso music..U Roy &I Roy are old horses in d reggae world but they played a different form of reggae which was not in line with rastafariarism..They were very good anyway with hot shark attack vibes!! Eric Donaldson was more of soft reggae blues..Lucky Dube's music was not in line with the root Rastafarian style of reggae music. He modernized his own style of reggae & was not a strong believer of Emperor Selassie of Ethiopia who was regarded as a saviour & represented x second coming of Jesus Christ!!! But Dube's musics are classics!!

I love reggae music so much because it's educative besides, that's what was on board when I was growing up in late 70s through to 80s and even 90s.
