Religious leaders cant always control the actions or lifestyles of their grown kids.

The most they can do sometimes is pray for them.

At least the boy said he's not doing drugs or anything like that.

And yes, what kind of music is it he's dancing to.

The portuguese guy (in the skirt) looks somewhat like a spanish conquistador (cue the hat) but back then i think spain and portugal were similar to each other, so no qualms.

Pardon me, but some Nigerian men are amongst the dumbest men on earth when it comes to spending money on irresponsible women! How can you brag that you are getting girls when they are scamming you. N50000 for a night with a woman? Chei, it seems someone had an A+ in Muguology 501 in graduate school. Why not date a woman who has her own money and does not depend on you for anything? You are not getting bitches, they are getting you.
standing ovation.

i think they like spending the money though. Ego massaging is also important.

the most comprehensive and oldest account of ancient benin was from a dutch explorer. I think the picture/lithograph of ancient benin that we all know [the one showing the layout and the king riding a horse], was also of dutch origin though i need to verify that.

Peter Mares was a Dutch explorer, who from 1,600 - 1,602 a trading voyage to the Gold Coast of Guinea . That same year (1602) he published an account of his journey with a detailed description of the regions he had visited.  It is the oldest printed book in Dutch about the area.  Apart from his own work, it also contains a description of the Benin kingdom , which the writer only as "DR" is given

after the dutch captured elmina in ghana, the portuguese lost the bulk of their trading posts in west africa.

the portuguese were mostly gone from western africa by the 17th century, i think. Not sure.

they were succeeded by the dutch.

i'd need to browse through the textbook in question before drawing any conclusions.

By the end of the 17th century, the Dutch had succeeded the Portuguese in the domination of the West African Trade. The Dutch were serious and determined to control the African trade. They armed their boats and captured Portuguese forts along the coast. The drive which had led to the development of a complex canal and lock system to control flooding in their country as early as the 15th century, led them to dominate the Portuguese trade.

By the 17th century the Dutch had a forty boat fleet which traded on the West African Coast year round. This fleet belonged to the Dutch West India Trading Company. This company, a national venture, was well-organized and well-funded, unlike the ventures of the other European countries. At this point in time, the trading expeditions of the other countries were controlled by individuals who had no success in making inroads into the Portuguese dominated trade. The Dutch also succeeded in replacing the Portuguese because they had no interest in colonizing or converting the people to Christianity. The Dutch dominated the trade from 1600-1700.

however, i do know some dutch were around benin in the 16th century or so.

They were definitely active in ghana.
