FamilyRe: The Boy-child Should Also Be Domestically Inclined!!! by tpia6: 8:31pm On Nov 22, 2014
mother is different from wife.

you can only have one mother (ie whoever fulfills that mother role) but wife is a bit more ambiguous.

Its not for nothing that women fight themselves in order to snag a man, you dont hear of women fighting in order to be a grown man's mother.

In Africa (at least in Nigeria), if a woman decides to leave, its not a reflection on the man's family per se, and there are so many females who have been lining up for a long time hoping the wife will do exactly that so they can grasp him. So how exactly is the man's family or mother supposed to be involved here? huh

lord have mercy o.
CultureRe: Is Badmus A Yoruba Name? by tpia6: 8:25pm On Nov 22, 2014
[quote author=Radoillo post=28190485]I do not think the name Coker was from Brazil. It's an English, not a Brazilian (Portuguese) name. It seems to me that prexios' comment confuses two groups of returnees: the Brazilian returnees (the Aguda or the Amaro) and the Sierra Leonean returnees (the Saro).
true.

he needs to be more original in his posts.

The Aguda had been slaves in South America and had acquired Portuguese names thus. Most Saro were descendants of captives rescued from slave ships and resettled in Sierra Leone where they were christianized and given an English education and English names. Saros were never slaves in South America.

Portuguese names like daSilva, Pedro etc came with the Aguda. English names like Cole, Coker, Johnson etc came with the Saro.
that's possible.

the Portuguese were also very active in (west) Africa since around the 16th and 17th centuries. They may have had descendants from their activities at that time, although no one knows for sure, and in addition, any such descendants might have migrated elsewhere or been absorbed into the general populace since then.

Coker could also be French, it depends. However, why is the op asking all these questions and why not enquire from people who bear these names since he says he met them.
RomanceRe: Ugly Boys Make Better Boyfriends In This 21st Century…see Why by tpia6: 6:01pm On Nov 22, 2014
Guys who consider themselves not so good looking are usually the greatest flirts though.

A lot of them can womanize more than the so called handsome ones.
FamilyRe: The Boy-child Should Also Be Domestically Inclined!!! by tpia6: 5:52pm On Nov 22, 2014
nomabeeee:
I learnt how to do a lot of domestic work while I was growing up..if you will agree with me,mothers are only concerned about their girl-child being domestically inclined. They teach their girl-child probably because they feel knowing or doing domestic work is meant for just the female..

I personally don't agree to the fact that domestic work is meant for only the female..I think mothers should also teach their boy-child domestic work too..if you can teach your girl how to sweep, clean, cook,do the dishes and laundry then your boy should also learn that as well..it goes a long way..

The importance of the boy-child being domestically inclined is that when he grows up,he stands on his own. That knowledge helps him take care of his personal needs not to go about looking for someone to do it for him..this is my opinion...
Nothing wrong with that, but a girl should learn how to take care of a family, after all, she's the one who will carry the baby.

There is also nothing wrong with the man helping out with chores.

However, I think nigerian men also have to learn more about general house repairs as opposed to housekeeping.
FamilyRe: Opinion: The Boy-child Should Not Be Domestically-inclined Primarily by tpia6: 5:45pm On Nov 22, 2014
tmosco:
Most girls just like to deceive themselves.why should a man do house chores when he is married.he can help in buying food stuff and helping out once in a while even d first woman in d land of plenty was still gathering food for her family. A boy child should learn because his mother needs help not because he should b cooking for his family.
Girls are supposed to cook for the family, not boys.

If no girls are there, then boys can do it.

Unless the boy has a cooking business or is making money from doing chores, its not supposed to be considered rote for them.

Overseas may be different because everyone is tired and need more help about the house.

Hmm.

He should smile a little though, he's trying to look older than his age but its not working, he still seems underage.

FoodRe: How To Pound Yam by tpia6: 3:50am On Nov 22, 2014
ma'am, learn how to cook because you want to be good at cooking, not because you want to impress a man into marrying you.

men can sense all these things faster than you can say "poundo yam", before you know it, he has eaten your food and gone off to some non cooking lady from there. Even if you add assorted vegetables.

and learning pounded yam is by example, not theory. You have to see what you're pounding in order to guage it.

Its better if you ask someone to show you and then again you have to find out if your "future hubby" likes pounded yam, and if he doesnt prefer poundo when he does.
