Ijea: Check through i'm sure other might have responded to you. I know i did. See it below: Ijea: Having no travel history, does not mean you wont be granted a visa. You have a lot of work to proof your real intent. These are questions you should ask yourself. Are you the only one the bank is sending for this training? From my understanding Nigerian banks have branches in every major city in the country, so why you? Why can't you do this training online? Is it only in the US, you can get this training? You really need to ask yourself these questions and many more. |

therealprinceuk: So sorry for your refusal. It really hurts when you personally know that you qualify for an NIV and get refused. Let me throw some light on your situation, so you won't blame the VO that interviewed you or the US Embassy. Nigeria is a country of over 180 million and the truth is you cannot 100% trust documents that originate from Nigeria. The VO has a very short time to decide if you are credible or not. Many Nigerians go as far as placing fake Visas and entry/exit stamps on their passport. So the VO has to depend on your answers to determine your CREDIBILITY not what you write on the form or your documents. So for your case it's not that you don't have ties to Nigeria, but you weren't able to demonstrate that you are credible. From the way you answered the VOs questions, if i was the VO, i will also refuse you the visa. So in conclusion, you didn't demonstrate that you qualified for the US Visa. So please don't blame the VOs, they are not witches or wizards to know you. Once more, sorry for your refusal. 1 Like |

Shinner2010: Not having travel history does not mean a US Visa won’t be granted. As far as you are able to prove your genuine intent. Go through this thread and learn from people. Make sure you read, watch videos and educate yourself properly. The major reason many Nigerians fail to get their visas granted, is that they don’t take the visa process seriously. It’s called an interview for a reason. It’s like going for an examination. I see a lot of Nigerians doing well who have no intent of leaving the country permanently, get refused their visas. It’s really sad. Please take the interview seriously and prepare like you would a real job interview. 2 Likes |

LadyGuinivere: They are getting married in December, the guy always comes to visit her in Nigeria. The best option for her was to go through the K-1 route. From what she stated as her ties, it won’t cut things through. She has a lot of convincing to do, in other to get the visa through this B2 route. That’s all I’m saying. I really wish her the best and I hope for the best possible outcome for her. But I needed to keep her at alert. @nugoh Good luck. |

Sundayschooltea: You really have to be prepared. One thing people who go to give birth in the US often overlook when renewing their visas is the discount given to them at the hospital. Most times this is being frowned upon at the embassy. Nothing is really free, that discount is coming from somewhere; it's taxpayers money. So always pay your money in full and not recourse to taking a penny from taxpayers money. I don't know the details of your case, but what i know is that you have a lot of questions to answer. Good luck. |

nedu2016: I genuinely wanted to answer this question, thinking the person who asked it has good intentions. But let me give you the benefit of a doubt; why is it that you must travel to the US for vacation? Can't you travel to Ghana, Dubai or even Kenya? These countries are great vacation destinations and won't cost you an arm or leg. I will tell you a true story. A guy came to me in late 2016 wanting to run away from Nigeria. He wanted to go to the US and never come back. He met me in Sheraton Abuja, I asked him some questions, do you have a car? He said Yes. What model of car? he said 2006. What do you do? he said contracts. I advised him like a brother to put down his pride and register with Uber to become both a Partner and a Driver. He listened to me and went ahead to do as I said. Fast forward June 2018, this guy presently has 3 cars in his fleet(that means he employs 2 other people) and he is expecting the 4th one before the end of the year. He is getting married in December 2018. The last time we spoke, I jokingly asked him. You don't want to travel to America again? He said my boss not now o, maybe for my honeymoon. See, I understand the frustration in Nigeria, I get it. Things are really bad for a lot of people, but you have to find out first what do you have? Like the Prophet, Elijah asked the widow, what do you have in your house? She said empty jars and that was very useful in taking her out of her bad situation. I am not being insensitive to the issues in Nigeria. But I will tell you that very many people are not finding it easy in the US. If you really want to go to the US why not plan it very well, so you don't run into troubles and also violate your visa condition. There are many visa categories you can explore. There is the L1 Visa you can apply for to help you set up a company in the US. If you are an artist or musician, you can look for a company or agent to help you get a gig in the US and sponsor your P3 visa. We don't have to always go for the B1/B2 visa with the intent of violating it. I hope this true-life story will help someone here. 24 Likes 1 Share |

KDK: 99% of the time, people applying for a visa do not appeal to the discretion of the CO. That you have traveled to the US or other countries does not guarantee getting a US visa. It can be an added advantage, but not a deciding factor. When you don't have the facts or circumstance of each case, you cant assume why they were given the visa or not. I have seen a lot of people who,as a Nigerian, i know they qualify for the visa, but yet they are denied. I listen to them and ask them how, they answered or presented their cases, and when they tell me, i make them know that even if i was the CO i wouldn't give them the visa. These VO's are not witches or wizards to know your intent of traveling at a "particular time", so you have to prove and demonstrate to them your true intent of wanting the visa at that "particular time". You need to be on the other side to understand what these COs see. 3 Likes |

OmoBendel24: Well, the Visa office are the ones that would determine which application should qualify for the CAN+ program. The application has to SHOW that it is eligible and who determines this(eligibility)? The visa office. Please see link below: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=877&top=16 |

KDK: This is a clear case of satisfying the burden of proof. Congratulations!!! There is nothing like over talking here, you are trying to prove your case. B1/B2 visa is a discretionary visa, so you have to appeal to their discretion truthfully. It's not rocket science. Congratulations once more. |

Ajokeadeyemi: You have to clearly detail your intent of traveling and also the reason why you have to visit the school physically before you apply, since this can be done online. I don't know the full details of your circumstance and how old you are. But if you work, it's always good to add your own financial details, so the VO will full understand your present financial circumstance. Best of luck. 1 Like |

Africankel: This is all you need to know about the GCMS notes, my advice is that you can use any of these two services online to request getgcms.com or visafile.info How to apply GCMS / ATIP notes. Only a person who is in Canada can request the notes. Get your sponsor to request on PA'S behalf! If principal applicant is in Canada, he/she can request for himself and apply for free under Privacy Act. If sponsor is requesting it on behalf of Principal applicant, you need consent form from PA and $5 fee. You can receive consent form from spouse via email and upload it. Apply under Access to Information Act. It takes about 30 days to receive by email. It is a ~30 pages document (can be more than 30 pages) Consent form: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5744.asp Section A - Principal Applicant details Section B - Sponsor's details Section C - Sponsor's details GCMS Notes: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp In above link, click Apply online, choose English , hit Next and accept the terms & conditions. Jawa: Yinka was actually making a valid point about CAN+, but it does not apply to every applicant that has a VALID US visa or have traveled to canada in the last 10years. When applications are submitted it's the Visa Office that determines which applicants qualify for the CAN+ program. |

Travel / How To Write A Letter Of Invitation by travelwahala: 12:15pm On Nov 28, 2017 |
I wanted to start this thread, to help those who have been having an issue with writing a letter of invitation to the US and invariably other countries in the West. I will be posting useful links that people could visit and have an idea of how to write an invitation for their loved ones. This month, more than 4 of my friends living in America have asked me, how they can construct a letter of invitation for their loved ones wanting to visit them, attend their wedding or graduation. Finally, if you have any useful information on this matter please feel free to add in and let's discuss. Also feel free to ask a question and I will try as much as possible to answer them to the best of my ability. I'm sure there are many nairlanders that are experts in this field and they would be able to answer as well. http://www.sampleinvitationletter.info/ https://www.immihelp.com/visitor-visa/sample-invitation-letter-parents.html http://travelwahala.com/us-visa-invitation-letter/ https://www.path2usa.com/visitor-visa-guide/invitation-letter-for-visitor-visa |
