A notorious armed robber has been nabbed with bullet wounds in a community in Akwa Ibom after gun battle with police.

It has been reported that the Akwa Ibom police command has apprehended a group of armed robbers who attacked innocent residents of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, while briefing the press, revealed that yesterday, being the 23rd day of August, 2018, five notorious armed robbers, led by Kingsley Peter, a.k.a “Morale” who is the gang leader, using three motorcycles – robbed some persons along Aba road by Ikot Osurua before proceeding to a banking area along the same road to dispossess ATM customers and shops owners.

Policemen, led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Benjamin Achegbani, trailed and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce shootout, four of the armed robbers were shot dead while one Akwaowo Daniel Umoren (m) of Ikot Inemme in Essien Udim Local Government Area, was arrested with an AK-47 with 60 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

Other exhibits recovered were;
# 5 locally made Pistols
# 8 live cartridges
# 2 Rounds of 5.56mm ammunition
# 1 AK47 magazine
# 3 Expended cartridges
# 2 Masks
# 6 Assorted Phones
# Three Motorcycles
# Physical cash of 63,000 (Sixty three thousand naira ) only.
According to police preliminary investigation, the armed robbers were said to be responsible for the robbery at Gulfsafrin Filling Station, located at Ukana, Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim LGA, close to the residence of Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON.

The Command said it’s poised to sustain her fight against every form of criminality in Akwa Ibom State and committed to protection of lives and property.

Real Madrid have finally found Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement within the club.

New manager, Julen Lopetegui has decided to promote Spanish forward, Marco Asensio as Ronaldo’s replacement in the team.

Before now, a host of names have been linked with Real Madrid, including Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Eden Hazard.

Hazard openly admitted he would like a move to Real but Chelsea have refused to sell, placing a £177.9million price tag on him, to scare buyers away.

Spanish newspaper, Marca reports that for this reason, Lopetegui has assessed his squad over pre-season and decided on how he will replace Ronaldo with Asensio.

The newspaper claimed that Lopetegui would rather use Asensio in his front three than spend a “ludicrous sum” on Hazard.

Real Madrid have also accepted the fact that Neymar will not be joining the club this summer.

Spanish giants, Real Madrid are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Chelsea goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois in the coming days.
Spanish outlet, Marca reports that the Los Blancos are already in advanced talks for the Belgium international.

The report claimed that a deal could reportedly be announced in the coming days, with the two clubs believed to have agreed a fee of around £31million.

Madrid have been linked with a new goalkeeper for a number of years now due to ongoing doubts over their first choice shot-stopper, Keylor Navas, with Courtois emerging as an alternative to long-term target, David de Gea.



Courtois is entering the final year of his contract at Chelsea and has so far offered no indication that he will extend his stay at the Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are, therefore, willing to cash in on the 26-year-old rather than lose him on a free transfer next summer.

Courtois, who won the Golden Gloves for his performances at this summer’s 2018 World Cup, has made no secret of his desire to return to Madrid at some point, having spent three years in the city with Atletico Madrid earlier in his career.

When asked by reporters about joining Real Madrid after Belgium’s 3-2 victory over Japan in the 2018 World Cup round of 16 encounters, Courtois replied: “I’m not going to talk about that now.

“The only thing I’ve always said is that after the World Cup, I look at everything.

“The only thing is that my children are the most important and I’ll make the decision that best suits me for everything.”

The Director-General of the Kayode Fayemi campaign council, Opeyemi Bamidele , has called on the public to disregard the rumour making the rounds that he had died in the London Hospital.

Bamidele has been in the hospital receiving medical care for the past six weeks.

The former lawmaker said the rumour was targeted at botching the ecstasy of victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Saturday’s election, Dr Kayode Fayemi and turn Ekiti into a battleground.

It had reported that Bamidele sustained gunshot wounds caused by mishandling of firearm by a policeman during a rally organized for Dr. Fayemi on June 1, 2018.



A statement in Ado Ekiti yesterday by his media aide, Ahmed Salami, branded the rumour as an evil intention of the wicked.

The statement added, “I spoke as a DG of the victorious campaign outfit for over 10 minutes in an audio clip I sent during the mega rally attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Com Adams Oshiomhole, governors and other party leaders in Ado Ekiti.

“I believe this evidence was sufficed to convince anybody that I am still alive. Could it mean that these mischief makers thought such audio address was fabricated?

“I expect every Ekiti man to pray for my survival rather than wishing me dead.

“In what way would they profit from my demise? Were they doing it for politics or to amass public sympathy?”

“Let me say in clear and unequivocal terms that I am convalescing fast and with the prayers of all Nigerians, I shall be discharged soon to reunite my political family and admirers in Ekiti to prepare grounds for Dr Fayemi assumption of office on October 16, 2018.



“I want to salute the courage of our people for voting massively for Dr. Fayemi. APC as a progressive and well-coordinated party that was averse to impetuous policy as presently being witnessed in Ekiti would come with policies and programmes that will put smiles on the faces of the populace”, he assured.
