Created as an entertainment blog but when i thought abt d constant updating,i jxt culdnt..i still visit 1ce in a whike and it seems hard to find on google..no good background and all

Some example of plugins would include

Web Market / 1O Reasons Wordpress Is Great For Your Small Business by treyday: 4:26am On Dec 29, 2014
[center]WHAT IS WORDPRESS[/center]
Simply put WordPress is a content management system (CMS) to help you build amazing websites with or with any knowledge on HTML ,php or any of those complicated programming languages.
2 out 8 people use WordPress to build their websites.

Having an online presence for your business is increasingly important; whether you plan to use your website to sell online, generate enquiries, or act as a branding tool. However the costs associated with building and particularly maintaining a website can quickly become a drain on business owners.

“I can’t update my website myself – every little change I want to make costs me!”

It’s a familiar cry of frustration from small business owners, and the result of which is that many find themselves with a website that’s displaying out of date information and no fresh content as the costs are just too high to justify.

But there are alternatives out there – here’s 10 reasons why WordPress could be a great solution for your small business website.

1. You can update your site all by yourself

If you can use Microsoft Word you can use WordPress.
You don’t need to be a developer in order to update your site – there’s no need to learn HTML, or use Dreamweaver or similar. There’s no need to pay someone else to update your website for you – you can just jump right in and update it yourself.

2. You can build your own site
Yes, really. Even if you’re not a developer.
However, if you don’t want to do this bit all by yourself there are many developers out there who will set up your site for you.

3. The software is free
Clearly cost isn’t the only factor to consider, but the fact that the software is free certainly doesn’t hurt, right?

4. One-click Installation
Many hosting providers offer one-click-installation, making it really easy to get started.

5. It’s a great blogging platform
WordPress isn’t just for blogging; but with more and more businesses starting up their own blogs, having this functionality baked-in is great.

6. You can change your site design quickly

With WordPress you can switch or alter your theme without changing the informational content of your site – this means you can refresh your site design quickly and easily.

7. It’s easy to customize

Plugins can extend WordPress to do almost anything – want an eCommerce store? There’s plugins for that. Want to install Google Analytics? There’s a plugin for that. Want to run a poll? You get the picture.

8. Amazing support community
If you do have problems at any point there’s an amazing online community out there to help you.

9. WordPress is made to do SEO well
What’s SEO? SEO stands for search engine optimization. Essentially we’re talking about search engine visibility here – if you want to get visitors to your site via search (and who doesn’t) you’ll need to make sure that the search engines can easily find and index your content. WordPress does this pretty well straight out of the box; plus there are plugins like Yoast’s WordPress SEO to enhance this further.

10. Easy Maintenance with one-click Updates
It’s quick and easy to upgrade and update WordPress in just one click so there’s no need to pay a developer to maintain your site.

Programming / How To Create A Forum Website With Wordpress by treyday: 3:32am On Dec 29, 2014
Forums are a great way to manage and increase user interactions on your website. They can be used to build online communities. Creating a forum on your website can be a daunting task, but the availability of the many free and open-source forum software make it really easy. The real issue might arise when integrating one of these with WordPress, without having to create forums on a separate sub-domain (and hence as a separate site). Fortunately, you have a solution for that as well in bbPress - the most popular forum software for WordPress.

Installing bbPress

bbPress is a free forum software built into WordPress as a third-party plugin. It does not require you to log into your cPanel for installation and management (as with other free software such as phpBB). Rather, it can be installed and managed from within your WordPress dashboard. Additionally, you can install more plugins to enhance its features, making it the go-to choice for beginners and even experienced WordPress users. Download the bbpress plugin here www.wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/

To install bbPress, go to your WordPress dashboard, and click on Plugins >> Add New. Search for bbPress, and install the plugin from the search results. Or you can download the plugin as a zip package here www.wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/, and upload it to your WordPress dashboard.

Creating a forum
After installing the plugin, the next thing you should do is create a new Forum. You can see that after installing this plugin, a new tab in your dashboard has appeared labelled Forums. You can create a new forum by going to Forums >> New Forum.

Creating a new forum is just like creating a new post or page in WordPress or just like you would here on nairaland. You can specify a title, permalink, parent forum (if any), and so on. Create all the forums you need this way, and specify a hierarchy.

One done creating all the forums, it's time to display them on a page. Create a new simply page from the WordPress dashboard, and give it the name "Forums" or similar. Then, enter the following short-code to make all the forums display on that page. [bbp-forum-index] you can post this short-code on any page you want all your forums to appear.
that should do the trick.

Business / 5 Steps To Market Your Business Page On Facebook by treyday: 2:07am On Dec 29, 2014
Before you start marketing on Facebook, think about your marketing goals. Do you want people to buy a t-shirt from your brick and mortar store? Looking to help people discover your photography business for the first time? Or just purchase some of your custom jewelry online?

Once you’ve set these goals you can use Facebook Pages to reach the audience you need to achieve them. Here are the 5 things you need to do to get started.
1. Create a Page
Pages are what companies, non-profits, and public figures use for their presence on Facebook. It’s free and fast to set one up and it creates an instant presence on desktop, mobile, and tablet. Facebook recently announced a new, more streamlined look for Pages so it’s easier for visitors to find what they’re looking for about your business.

2. Invite People to Connect

It’s not about the number of people who like your Page, but that your business Page is connected with the right people. Invite friends who’ll be interested in your Page, or upload your customer email list to send an email letting people know about your Facebook content. You can do all of this from the Build Audience section at the top of your Page.

3. Post Compelling Content

Compelling content can take many forms. Tell your story through product photos or share links to upcoming sales and relevant industry articles. Reach more of the people you care about by boosting your posts. You can also get inspiration from other businesses like yours here.

4. Measure
Check out Page Insights to see what kind of people connect and engage with your Page. Is it mostly men? Women between the ages of 18 and 24? Do posts with photos perform better than text-only updates? You can answer these types of questions from the Insights tab at the top of your Page.

5. Download the Pages Manager App

If you own a business you’re going to be busy. If you find yourself away from the computer and need to make an update, the Pages Manager app can help you manage your Page on the go. You can publish content, edit your Page, boost posts, and view Page insights straight from your phone. Get it in the iTunes Store or Google Play Store

Programming / 5 Tips To Improve Your Website by treyday: 11:54pm On Dec 28, 2014
Creating a website is a fantastic way to promote your business or cause, but encouraging people to visit your site and making it stand out requires knowledge, skills, and time you may not have. Here are five great tips for improving your website, store or blog—and some resources available in case you need help putting these ideas into action.

1. Graphic design

The truism that you have only one chance to make a good first impression definitely applies to your site, and that first impression is always visual. Basic themes, fonts and page styles are the perfect place to start, but you’ll also want an attractive logo and some high-resolution graphic images that support your messaging and show off your products. Not a graphic artist? Think you can’t afford to hire one? Don’t worry. In today’s Gig Economy, you can find affordable designers and graphic artists who can help you make your site look just the way you want: professional, fun, elegant, you name it.

2. Written content

Once visitors are interested in your site, you need to give them a reason to stay—and that means engaging content. What kind of written content can you present besides your product and service descriptions? A well-written and regularly published blog is one of the best additions to your site. It provides a forum for you to repeat your messages and encourages visitors to come back again and again. You can also create customer success stories, offer history and trivia related to your topic or industry, provide a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs), and include links to related sites. If you aren’t a great writer or don’t have the time to write, you can find great writers on service marketplaces, freelance job sites and by checking with friends, colleagues, and customers for references of writers they rely on.

3. Videos and Animations

Another form of content is high-quality video and animation. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a few seconds of high-quality video and animation may be worth 2,000 or even 10,000 words. A professionally crafted video reflects the care you take with you products and services. Whether it’s a video of your product, a customer testimonial, or even just you speaking about your cause or passion, video engages visitors and encourages them to stay on your site. Whiteboard animation is also great for explaining complex ideas in a way that is highly engaging and fun.

4. Social buttons

Now that your visitors are engaged, you want them to tell others about your site. Don’t forget to leverage social buttons that will encourage people to share your site on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and more. And while you’re at it, you may want to create your own social accounts on these sites and participate in relevant communities.

5. Online Marketing

To propel your online presence into the 21st century, it’s essential to use various forms of online marketing. If you feel you don’t have time or enough knowledge, you can seek help from experts who offer these services at affordable prices. Whether you are looking for an in-depth SEO optimization report, tips to increase traffic, or a virtual assistant who can take on tasks such as data entry, research or accounting, the ability tap into outside experts can help take your website to the next level.

Webmasters / 10 Reasons To Start A Web Development Business In Naija by treyday: 12:40am On Dec 24, 2014
There is something special about the web development industry.

If someone asks me if starting a web development business is right for them, I say “Yes!” if they’re willing to do the work. Here are 15 reasons why:

1. You Can Start Part-Time:
If you’re in college or you’ve got a day-job, you can start a web development business on the side and build it part-time. While meeting with clients may present some scheduling challenges, you can work through those. The actual web development work can be done in the evenings and on the weekends.

2. You Don’t Need An Office:
If you need to meet with clients, meet at their office or at a local café. Maintaining an office is expensive and, in the early days, it’s money that can be better spent elsewhere. If a client asks where you are located or seems put off by your lack of an office, simply explain with confidence that you built your business to be mobile and that you’re able to get more done for your clients in less time by not having an office.

3. You Don’t Need To Learn Code:
If you’re just getting started, don’t waste time learning HTML or CSS. If you already know how to code, put that knowledge aside. The best way to get started is by using a platform. I highly recommend WordPress. Start out by using pre-built themes and plugins. Stay focused on providing results for your clients and keep your learning curve to a minimum. There will be plenty of opportunity to master code down the road – if that is your goal.

4. Your Schedule Can Be Flexible:
Being the master of my own time is a big reason why I favor web development. The nature of the work means that I can get it done early in the day or late at night. If I need (or want) to take time off for a few weeks, or even longer, I can arrange the business and communicate with clients to keep things going in my absence. If communication is required, an hour or two checking email or making phone calls on the road can be all it takes.

5. The Demand In The Market Is High:
More businesses and organizations than ever before are turning to the web and looking for help to establish or improve their Internet presence. Along with the demand for service there is a tremendous demand for education. The amount of information being blasted at businesses is overwhelming and they put a high value on anyone that can help them filter through the noise and make intelligent decisions. That’s where you come in.

6. The Startup Cost Is Low:
Your greatest initial expense is a computer and the one you already have will probably work just fine. Beyond that, a $100-$200 budget is easily enough to get you started. Buy a domain name (around $10), choose a premium theme ($40-$50), and a managed web-host ($25-$30 a month). Get your first client and begin investing a portion of your earnings back in the business (development software, training, plugin licenses, etc).

7. The Margins Are High:
The profit potential in web development is enormous. The greatest expense is your time and as your capabilities and processes improve, the amount of time it takes to deliver high value will decrease. I recommend that you start by calculating your per-project rates at a minimum of $75/hour and go up from there as your value increases.\

8. There Is High Demand For Specialists:
Web development covers a wide spectrum of skill-sets and within that spectrum there is a lot of room for specialists. Even more importantly, the demand for those specialists is high. You can focus your efforts on a niche or on a specific facet of development (e.g. design, mobile development, engineering). You can also focus on a geographic region, becoming a specialist to serving businesses in a specific area.

9. Competitors Are Falling Behind:
The web development industry is growing and changing at a mind-numbing pace. This means that your local competitor, the guy who’s been building websites for 5+ years, is probably using old technologies and is in danger of falling behind on industry best practices. This offers you a lot of room to come in, start with a clean slate, and deliver a higher value to your clients – and eventually his.

10. You Can Scale As You Grow:
When the demand for your services is higher than you can manage, you can bring in a partner, a contractor, or a first employee to manage the load. The flexible nature of the business means you still don’t need to get an office and the speed at which you’ve acquired your skill sets means that you can also quickly train a newcomer to continue providing a high value to your clients. You can also use technology to streamline and automate some of the time-consuming parts of your business, making it easier to scale.

well ! there are many other reasons.
