Incessant Religious Killing In The North

We have been witnessing this kind of religious-movitated killing of Chrisians in Nothern Nigeria from time immemorial. The decimation continued unabated as political leaders in the North who are mainly Muslims are unperturbed by the carnage.From burning of churches to targeted killings of individuals and all manners of vices devised to annihilate Christians.


What Actually Transpired

Supposedly her assailants said she blasphemed.
Personally I won’t support anyone speaking ill of other religions.But am yet to find any line of blasphemous words from the narrative we have been reading and the altercation from WhatsApp group. Shall we all read the incident and try to pinpoint anything blasphemous.

“It was her own course mates that started it. One of them said Deborah dared them by refusing to apologise when she was asked to. It all started with a debate on the upcoming examination on a general WhatsApp platform created for our course mates. One of the students asked her how she passed the last semester’s examination and in response, she said it was ‘Jesus o.’

“Immediately, about three other chats came in from two Muslims and one Christian, telling her to retract the statement. Two students from other departments who over heard some Muslim boys discussing the matter told Deborah’s close friends to prevail on her to retract the statement. But she replied via a voice note on the platform ‘Holy Ghost fire. Nothing will happen to me.

Is it by force that you guys will always be sending this religious stuff in this group? The group wasn’t created for that but rather as a notice on test, assignment, exam, etc, not this nonsense religious posts”

To me those who told her to retract and denouce calling the name “Jesus” were those who blasphemed. They were the one trying to undermine her religion and belief. They were the one who bullied her and started the whole shambolic episode. These guys crossed the red line and not Deborah. Of course,is it not religious nonsense and outrageous tendency telling her to denounce calling the name of “Jesus Christ” and stop acknowledging Him as her helper.
It is appalling everyone is saying she blasphemed but I beg to differ. You can sweep the truth under the carpet and promote falsehood. In a civilized society where the rules of law is in place, you are sure everything will be ironed out and justice will prevail.In the absence of rules of law, you can only hope on God to recompense this evil.

Illitracy And Religious Extremism

Many opined that illetracy in Northern Nigeria is a major contributor to this reckless and religious absurdity.I really don’t think so.This isn’t about education but rather hardcore,demonic,and religious indoctrination and inclination.
Religion is spiritual and it influences more than education.It is dangerous and minacious when the religious belief system or philosophical belief system turns you into a bigot.This eventually makes an extremist out of you.
Osama bin Laden was educated but religion influenced. Are the islamic state Beatles,Mutallab, those fascists not educated?
Have you not even checked the list of people who supported the killing of Deborah? Are these people illiterates?

So it is not issue of illiteracy,not even poverty.It is rooted in staunch,hardline,blood-thirsty religious belief.

Why Your Prayer Might Not Be Answered

Jeremiah 32:27

I am God of all flesh is there anything too hard for me to do 

In Jeremiah 33:3 He says,Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not

God is still answering prayers and showing mercy and compassion to mankind. Testimonies in the Bible and His acts of miracles in various churches around the world attests to the fact that God is still answering prayers. If your prayers are not being answered,please be inspired and wait more on God to thrash out your issues.This is not the time to develop cold feet and throw in the towel.

I am privileged to lead you into this series of faith and spiritual awakening.It is my prayer that a new you shall emerge and your miracles shall be delivered to you as we expound Why God is not answering your prayers.

1. Why God Is Not Answering Your Prayers : Are my requests aligned with the will of God?

JMS 4:3

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

The reason your prayer is not answered is because your request is at odd with God's will. It does not matter how dead serious you are about the prayer. God won't act outside His will.

1 JH 5:14
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

You need to know what the will of God is per time if you want to enjoy relationship with Him. It is not the time to get heady and be questioning the Christian faith if God exist or not. Of course atheist and other unbelievers are there to offer you quick opinions so that you can deny your faith.This is crucial to why God is not answering your prayers.

2. Why God Is Not Answering Your Prayers :The Time Is Wrong.

if the timing of your request is wrong,God won't answer. Though your request is aligned with His will,but the factor of time will bring delay.

Eccle 3:1
To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven

You can't understand your life more than God.He knows what fits you per time. So you have to wait till you are matured for the blessing you are craving for.

The episode of Marriage in the Canaan of Galilee underscores how important time is relevant, and related to the will of God in our lives.
It was a big marriage in town.Jesus Christ himself was there with His mother. Suddenly the wine was finished and nothing to give to the guests. Humanly this is a big crisis and shame. Of course the news would be on the media and everywhere.
If you found yourself in the midst of this what would you do? Are you not going to start throwing insults at God? Are you not going to think of suicide because of the shame? Won't you seek help from other gods and deny the faith?

Even when the mother of Christ went to Him,"He said my time has not come...

He saw the problem how the bride n bridegroom and other relatives were concerned trying to fix the issue.Just like He's seeing you in your present predicament now.

Eccle 3:11

He hath made every thing beautiful in his time.......

Folks, time is a factor and is correspondence to every act of God in your life.

Surely in the nick of time in the midst of shortage of wine and the ensuing national and international shame,Christ gave them the best of wine enough for the gathering.

Jh 2:1-11

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

Won't you rather wait on God for your time. God cares for you and when you are due you won't be denied.Please understand that delay is not denial.Time is definitely significant to Why God is not  answering your prayers.

Gal 4:4

His blessed memory ,Dr Myles Munroe once said,"when purpose is not known,abuse is inevitable".
When you understand the purpose and functions of a thing, then you can explore and maximize the benefits and advantages it provides.

Human beings were products of complex and conscious design. Structurally computed for a purpose and engineered for a reason. God wouldn't have made humans as junks to litter the earth surface.

Gen 1:26

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Created For His Purpose

#1,We are created to serve and worship God.As we do this,our Dominion is established.
Gen 1:28.

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

God created an office for Adam & Eve to serve Him and function in order to be established in Dominion forever.
Gen 2:8-15.

The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads. The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there. The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which goes aroud the whole land of kush.The name of the third river is Hiddekel;it is the one which goes toward the east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.

This is simply service to God- # Dress it & Keep it.

So as Christians you don't have to be idle and fold your arms.You have the responsibility to find out what your responsibility is in your church and God's kingdom as a whole.Find out what God called you to do.You might be called to function in five fold ministries or you are in Mercy/supporting ministries.
Surely you have an office in the kingdom of God and it is high time you discovered them

#2 Created to Fear & Honour God.

God never created any being or things that He has no power to manage.God rules by power and He demonstrated that when He puts the devil to where he belongs.
The point here is,as you discover your office and function in it,don't leave the fear of God behind. Don't overstep rules and regulations.Every office has some, and they define your functionalities.

Adam & Eve, devil, they all encroached on God's commandments and bitterness and displacement ensued.

The Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Isaiah14:12-15

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Remember God's commandments are basis for our relationships with Him.Don't break them. Never you try to outsmart Him. Don't jump in front of the Shepherd. It is a distrastrous move. Go slow and steady according to His leading.Surely,you will get there and be established in Dominion.

Rev 2:1-5

2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

 

There is no country in the world whose name rings bell with influence around the world and leading in all areas of human endeavors like the United States. Founded on God as we were told,though some folks over the years have been disputing that America is not a Christian nation and never founded on God. Hey! Those are the folks trying to “play God out of  America.”

However, the United States has divorced God in so many areas. We have seen stark approach trying to play God out of government affairs and personal lives. It is hard to believe that America was not founded on God.

Be Holy - 1 Pet 1:13-25

13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.

17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.[b] 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

“All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25     but the word of the Lord endures forever.”[c]

And this is the word that was preached to you.

 

Practical Attitudes of Holiness

Having examined the main text closely.I deduced these following approach to holiness.Kindly refer to part one of this teaching.  Attitude of Holiness 1


BEING SOBER

Inability to think so deep and come up with truths without being emotional is a big flaw.To lead a life of holiness,you have to be solemn and thoughtful about issues of life (not pretentious thought).

If you have never realized that without God and holiness you are doomed, you are still lost in the valley of indecision. If you are genuinely caught in the web of sober reflection, you will realize the truths about the following scriptures and see how poor and powerless you are without God.So you have to be sober to be able to follow holiness.

Acts 4:12 - For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?




Being Born Again

This is the first step to a life of holiness and relationship with God.All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.- Rm 3:23.

By birth, we inherited sin-.This is the very reason you have to take the practical step to lay down your life at the feet of Christ. Being a moralist or having some kind of uprightness can’t be equated to being born again.

Your involvement in church activities, paying tithe and so on are not signs that you are born again sometimes. Some ministers of the gospel are not even born again. Yet, they are preachers. They show gifts of the Spirit, but fruits of the Spirit is far away from them.-Mt 7:15-20

Mt 5;20

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

You have to come to terms with new birth just like Nicodemus did- Jh 3:1-7




Purification

Steady, continuous purification is necessary to maintain holiness. Apostle Paul says, “I die daily”- 1 cor 5:31. Avoiding things that will defile your body is your responsibility.

However, you might found yourself in sin. But you realize immediately and you approach the throne of grace for forgiveness.

1 Jh 2:1

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. (Rm 8:34,1 Tim 2:5,Heb 7:25,Heb 9:24)




Protect Your Mind

It is your responsibility to take charge of what comes out and goes in to your mind. What sort of materials do u feed on?

Pr 4:12

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Attitudes of holiness are consciously cultivated. While sinful attitudes percolates and permeates into our lives unaware. And the dominant thought in your mind gives direction to your life.

Pr 25:28

Whoever has no rule over his own spirit
Is like a city broken down, without walls.

Remember before you can sin devil has to bring the thought to you first. JmS 1 :13-15




Love

Love is vital a bid to lead and live a holy life. Human-God relationship can only be perfected by love if well understood and applied.Love is God in action.And you can’t miss your steps if God is in action.

Paying attention to the Bible,what laws can’t do was made perfect by love.The only way to cut corner with laws without being accused or marked foul, is to adopt and deploy the power of love.It covers multitudes of sins-

1 Pet 4:8

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.

And Christ came to perfect and fulfill the law by the application of love.

Mt 22:38-40

But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,  Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.

Love is capable to stop the spate of immoralities and drive to sin against God. It will move you to cherish humanity and stop  the with  self-gratification for evil acts.

THE BIBLE ISN’T WRONG, YOU ARE

There is a claim often made by people that goes something like this, “I don’t believe in the Bible because the Bible is full of contradictions.”
What we have found is that this claim is nothing more than empty ranting about a text that the person has not even read, let alone studied to understand what it actually says in the first place!
And this has been the same experience as Dr. Richard Averbeck, Hebrew Bible and Semitic Languages scholar and professor. Dr. Averbeck says,
“A lot of people talk about ‘contradictions in the Bible.’ I’ve been studying this stuff [professionally as a scholar] for 50 years and while I haven’t worked through every claim of contradiction, those I HAVE worked through have turned out to be NOT contradictions, but rather a misunderstanding of what the text is actually intending to communicate.
Misunderstanding the text does not mean there is a contradiction in the text.” (Averbeck)
It’s not the Bible that is wrong, it is your understanding of the Bible that is wrong.
Every so-called “contradiction” in the Bible always turns out to be due to the fact that the person claiming the contradiction does not actually understand how to read and interpret ancient documents, or engage in proper hermeneutics (the “science” of interpretation).
In other words, the person claims “contradiction” because they do not actually understand how to determine what the Biblical text is saying, or what it even means.
The Bible is not “full of contradictions;” the Bible is full of the story of God, which leads to Jesus Christ, written over a period of 2,000 years, by 40 different authors, on three different continents, who wrote in at least three different languages.

ATTITUDE OF HOLINESS 1

Holiness is a road that is less traveled in our contemporary world.While all sorts of vices and immoralities rife and thrive,holiness is rare and in scarcity

 
Holiness is avoidance of sins by paying attention to God’s commandments and following the lead of the holy-Spirit. 


Attitude they say is everything. And we are summed up  and defined by the very attitudes we exude. If you are experiencing “the peak or the valley right” now, is as a result of your previous attitudes or pattern of life.

Heb 12:14

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord

There are behavioral patterns (attitudes) that builds aura of holiness and great moral rectitude around you. These are attitudes that breeds holiness and let you build a good relationship with God and mankind.

Holiness is not avoidable or negotiable in bid to walk with God.It is the interface for human-God relationship and the offshoot for all other moral rectitude. It is very possible to lead a holy life.It is not something far-fetched or out-of-this-world commandment. Contrary to believe of many that is not possible as long as we are living in the world.

The chemistry  to lead a holy life is within everyone of us. And we can begin the journey right now by our attitudinal change and amending sinful character flaws. God will never ask us to do what is not possible to achieve or possible to do.

The bible says God’s commandments are not grievous - 1 Jh 5:3

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Even in the Old testament, Job led an exemplary life of holiness in the midst of sinful generation.

Job 1:1-5

1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

2 And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

So is not how appealing or endemic sins are in our world,but rather how much you want to please God.

5.BE A SOLUTION PROVIDER: It starts with meeting a need.Creating value is simply solving problems.Locate a need,a vaccum and come with an idea to meet it.It could be business,humanitarian or gospel needs.When you add values to others,it enhances your life and business.There are still busineses that needs to be started,humanitarian efforts to be made.IF you want to be wealthy,start creating values to solve myriads of needs in our society.Your worth  in life  is determined by creating values.If people are not missing you,that means your were of no value to them when you were together.Ask yourself,what are you adding   your family,others,community,organization and your country at large.
