Baawaa:I have a neighbour. What a miserable life she lives. For the past eight years, she's suffered what many women do not suffer. She's been beaten blue black numerous times. She visits the hospital at least once a year for treatment. The husband rarely caters for her or the children and still demands from her and maltreat her. She's in great pain; great sorrow. And anytime for now, death may be her eventual situation. According to your wisdom or the wisdom you shared in your comment, What should this woman do? If there's any nation where they value and give more importance to self desires rather than submitting to systems that's influenced by a higher form of knowledge and binds them to laws to keep them aright and guides them to what's right and away from what's wrong, then you should expect things like this from them. They limit themselves to their own mental dispositions which is very limited hence their impression about life is somewhat shallow and lagging so you find them taking drastic or dangerous measures in matters that should be dealt with more properly.
