We often complain about the state of our country, yet we also share responsibility for creating the change we want to see. That change begins with refusing to exploit one another.

Enter Odixicity Consulting, an outsourcing firm that claims to specialise in human resources and procurement. The company assists organizations with hiring, but in several recorded instances, it has reportedly required job candidates to:

- pay a ₦5,000 registration fee
- sign an agreement surrendering 50% of their first month’s salary if employed
- hand over 25% of any future salary increases or bonuses

These practices are not only illegal and in violation of labor laws, but also deeply exploitative; especially when recruiting firms are typically paid by the companies they serve, not by job seekers.

Companies that work with firms like this cannot claim ignorance. They should know who they partner with, how these firms operate, and that candidates hired on their behalf are being exploited.

Whether or not such practices have been normalised, companies operating this way must be called out and exposed for their unlawful and unethical processes.
