Over 1.1 million Nigerians have slip into extreme poverty in just four months, TheCable can report.

This has brought the number of Nigerians living in extreme poverty — or below $1.90 a day — to 88 million.

In June 2018, the Brookings Institution named Nigeria as the poverty capital of the world, with 86.9 million extremely poor people.

Nigeria overtook India as the world poverty capital, despite being six times smaller in population than the Asian country.

A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt , the Rivers State
capital, has sentenced the Managing Director of Shell
Petroleum Development Company , Mr Osagie Okunbor ,
and two other top officials of the oil firm to three
months’ imprisonment with hard labour for contempt .

The other two officials convicted by the court are Nike
Onyilola , who is the SPDC Secretary and Head of Legal
Department ; and Keibi Atemie , who is the Deputy
Country Head of Legal /Managing Counsel , Global
Litigation, Sub-Sahara Africa .
Delivering judgement on Tuesday in Suit Number
PHC /1929/ 2018, the presiding judge , Justice George
Omereji , said the three persons were convicted for
refusing to obey a court order in 2008 instructing them
to forfeit land where Bonny Crude Oil terminal was
located .
The court order , according to Justice Omereji , was
given 10 years ago by Justice Margaret Opara of the
Rivers State High Court .
It was gathered that the said land belonged to the
Jumbo Major House of Bonny and the Brown House of
Finima in the Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers
State .
Though the convicted Shell officials were not in court ,
Justice Omereji instructed the police and other law
enforcement agencies to arrest and send them to
prison.
The Jumbo Major House and Brown House, who are all
landlords to Shell in the Bonny LGA had approached
the court in Suit Number PHC/ 1956/2007 and
complained about the tenancy and compensation for
their land .
It was also learnt that Justice Opara had in 2008
instructed that Shell should give up the Bonny terminal
for violating the terms of tenancy and surreptitiously
getting a Certificate of Occupancy from the then
government of Rivers State for the said land .
Thirty per cent of Nigeria’ s crude oil is said to be
produced and exported from the land owned by Jumbo
Major House of Bonny and the Brown House of Finima.

Shell had after the ruling in 2008 gone to the Appeal
Court , lost the case , and went to the Supreme Court ,
where it also lost .
Before sentencing the Shell officials , Justice Omereji
struck out a motion of notice by counsel for Shell and
the three top employees of the firm , praying the court
to set aside the court order that directed the landlords
to serve substituted means of notice of consequences of
disobedience of a court order.
Counsel for Bonny landlords , Lucius Nwosu ( SAN) and
Emmanuel Asido, and their counterpart for Shell
officials , Thompson Okpoko (SAN ), had earlier argued
on the matter.
But Justice Omereji declared that the committal of
Okunbor , Olafimihan and Atemie , was based on Shell ’ s
failure to obey the order of Justice Opara to surrender
the land to the owners.
However , reacting to the ruling , SPDC spokesperson,
Bamidele Odugbesan , stated that the oil company did
not accept that it disobeyed any court order and had
appealed the judgement.
“ We do not accept that SPDC disobeyed any lawful
order of court and have accordingly appealed this
judgement. The SPDC has utmost respect for the courts
and the laws of Nigeria .
“ As stated above , the landlord families settled with
SPDC in 2014 and collected all rents due on the land up
to 2019 as publicly declared by the landlord families in
The Guardian edition of Sunday , August 24, 2014 on
page 14.
“ SPDC takes seriously the personal liberty of its officers
and also the threat to continuing operations at the
Bonny Oil Terminal, a critical national asset in which
the Federal Government holds 55 per cent interest .

Our educational system is bad. So bad that most graduates can not express themselves properly. You don't have to be pissed but pity them.

I joined my Agency before my 23rd Birthday and few months ago, I celebrated my 9th year with them.

With those years I have handled over 700+ different recruitment processes. Just recruitments alone.

If you divide this by 9, you would find out that on average I handle over 77 processes in year, this is about 1 each week.

I have dealt with over 500,000 CVs and hired or involved in the hiring of over 10,000 beautiful souls and I have worked with lots of badass HR people across all industries in Nigeria and many of them, we have personal rshp especially in Lagos.

What led me to open this thread is very simple.

I was in my office and I got a mail notification from my Senior Analyst (a senior staff in my team but subordinate to me).

I opened the mail I saw "ok, I would be there".

I was like, what the f**k is that? She told me it is an acknowledgment mail from a guy we gave an invite.
The dude has an impressive CV but the acknowledgement failed minimum acceptable standard, so the support team working on attendance forwarded the mail to the Analyst for clearance and she forwarded to me to seek my opinion.

I delisted the guy. I am not wicked, the dude has an impressive CV but the position (Financial Analyst) we were recruiting for is one that requires high level of professionalism and attention to details but his response portrayed him as someone can't satisfy those core values.

So few days later, I opened this thread to educate Entry Level applicants on how to go about application for entry level positions.

My intention was to move to higher level positions and then how to apply, get invite and then impress for MNC jobs interviews.

But in the course of doing that, some people started throwing insults carelessly and when I try to validate why I am qualify to give those advice, some tagged me arrogant and proud.

So I decided to stop updating and start responding only to mentions.

There are things I won't tolerate, getting insulted from people that would shiver when they sit before me in the interview room.

So in the light of this, I am leaving this thread permanently. Further inquiries should be directed to the dudes.

A true mark of a leader is your ability to accept criticism and insults. Remember insults will never change who you are or your status.

I am not playing any game with you but I am interested in your answers after all you asked me to ASK .

I know you might be wondering how I came to know the things I know. That itself is a long story.


However knowledge in HR has been of immense value to me. It help me during my interview because I was able to present my competencies in terms familiar with HR and help me to ask intelligent questions whenever they have seminars. They don't find my questions easily even FCIPD and FCIPD .

Although I don't practice HR. I am connected to real experts who took the pain to give all the info in HR. Even lastest trends that will evolve in the future ever heard of impact HR?

More so I will soon find myself in managerial position that is when my full knowledge will come to play. It will stand me out among my peers my knowledge of HR is strategic. I know where to use it.

Strategy is a standing plan in order to achieve a particular objective. It usually backed by policy development in order to bring about some consistency to the strategy.

Like I said before I am not a HR practitioner but it is obvious to me that you do not know anything in HR either.
