Hmmmm. Which kind of insensitivity is this? Nigerians are resilient but they are being pushed to the brim on a daily basis. I suspect something will happen soon

people still bringing in cars nowadays are the real MVP chia it's just beyond ridiculous nowadays

Indeed Corrolla 05-07 now cannot be imported with less than 5m. That's aside minor repairs and profit o. Really dealers don't make as much as people think. If you don't do car importation, you wouldn't understand what they go through. Most of the money go into the buying, shipping and clearing. That's the honest truth. The culprits here is the increased exchange rate and the clearing/terminal charges

providencia:
If I buy a 2007 camry for 1500 dollars at black market rate of 1070 naira to a dollar, how much will it cost to get to Nigeria?
Please include shipping cost & clearing cost. No towing.

Let's assume the cost of buying the car is $1500
Add Charges if you're buying from an auction site- $500
Shipping : $1400
Total in $ - 3,400 x 1070 = N3,638, 000
Add Clearing - N1, 800,000
Total - 5,438,000.00
Here you have it conservatively

IVORY2009:
Yes I agree with you the cost of clearing vehicles and duties have gone up drastically, but be that as it maybe, the price is on a high side for a 17 year old car

So the high price was caused by me? U have agreed on the culprits of the high price being the cost of clearing and exchange rate. So if clearing as at today cost 1.8m naira. Leaving a balance of N2m. Cost of shipping is also N 1.8m. So how much would be left to buy the car from auctions in the U. S. Am placing this figures in the public space for anyone to dispute it. I repeat you can't bring this car into nigeria with less than 5m naira as at today. Which of those cost is going to my pocket assuming I want to make unrealistic profit from the sales

IVORY2009:
Sometimes they just fix price any how .

Bros import the car yourself and see if you don't spend 5m as at today. Quarrel no dey now. You'll spend N1.8m for clearing, $1800 for shipping and towing that's another N1.8m and another $1800 that's N1.8m @ the current rate of N1000 to a $ for buying the car itself. Talk from knowledge not ignorance

Free2Fly:
It's obvious you can't sell this car with the kind of bad mouth you have.

It's not a matter of bad mouth, but a matter of people talking rubbish out of ignorance and if one keeps quite, it'll seem as if what they are saying is right. My statements up there is the truth and nothing but the truth. People should speak out of knowledge not sentiment or a bid to bring another man's business down. The buyer will come. Don't let that bother you. I may even sell higher than the price you're seeing up there

Clearing this car alone now is @1.8m-2m naira. Shipping and towing is about $1800 that at another N1.8m. Now you can't get this car at auction less than $1800 thatats another N1.8mThe above price is distress really. Nobody can bring this car in currently and will sell below 5m naira. That's the truth. A lot of people don't know the dynamics of car importation and so it's easy for them to criticise dealers. All transactions in car importation is done in $. Therefore escalating exchange rate and constant increase in customs clearing and terminal charges is the culprit here
