frankly speaking , am happy for you op.from your story, i have made some resolutions:

it is obvious from the various comments that many are in one religion or the other, yet without any tangible personal experience or revelation that should be their defence and basis for their conviction. Many are Christians, or Muslims, but dont know why.

that is why they present weak defences and expanations for their religious inclinations and can not even convince themselves that their religion is true.

others are atheist or agnostics because they want to be as clear headed as possible, since most people that try to preach their religion only resolve to mysticism thinking that that which cannot be explained must be devine. "that which is not natural must be supernatural" so the religionist preaches.

some atheists on the other hand are simply angry with rellgion.

am at that point in my life now where clear headedness is why resolve. I dont believe religion should be unreasonable, irrational or unexplainable. God should not be thought of as that incomprehensible being that floats in eternity, and manipulating everything just for His pleasure. If there is God, His existence, system of government and principes for Lordship must be rational, "empirical" and natural. if I beleive in God, but cant communicate His existence Convincingly to another human being, then I dont know Him enough. If anyone doubts the existence of God, I want to belive its because christians are not being "Properly christianed" to live the christian life. after all "you are the light of the world.... let your 'light' ( illumination, understanding and insight )so... s.h.i.n.e.... before men that they see (and not doubt) your ''good works'' (results, productive results) ... and glorify yourfather in heaven...

therefore, if there are true christians on Nairaland, then there should be commiserate acknowledgement or recognition of their convictions as genuine and evidenced by their circular and spiritual problem solving capacities culminating holistic praises and eulogies that will silence ''indefinately'' all criticisms... and ultimately, lead to more admiration and acceptance by the masses of the religionists and their religion.

in summary,... if i must be a christian, I choose to b the best of it. not creating problems, solving them. I choose to develop my mind,intellectual capacity and skills. i chose to be outstanding and skillfull, i choose to solve complex and simple local, and national; economic and politicalproblems of the world. i choose to thoroughly know the God i call my God so i can present cojent arguments in his favour. if my world celebrates me, they wont have problems accepting my religion. especially if my name resonates truth,integrity,discipline and hardwork.
i think most religionists are lazy fanatics who dont even know much about their immediate environment or whats going on in their world. if you dont know much about the food you eat, the cloth you wear, your electronic devices, etc,how can you expect me to believe your theory about wht you dont know much? this is d arguement of the skeptic.
let christians know their God very well, then relating Him to others would be easier.
