Today at Babatunde Adebiyi Farms, a staff shows visitors life Black Soldier Flies larvae and educates on the processes of propagating them. Here they turn them to chicken and fish feeds. They send some out. They have a packaging box production unit. The boxes are used in sending BSF to people that request for them. They make boxes for others on request. They grow maize for their poultry needs. But not enough. So they buy more maize.

I have only just seen your enquiry asking for the location of a toothpick factory in Nigeria. The first known toothpick factory in Nigeria is located in ogbese , a town under Akure on the expressway to Owo town. All in Ondo State. Your contacts are 07033019529 Femi and 08035214225 Tope, 08038582399 Seun. It is often said that Nigeria does not produce toothpick but this factory started producing toothpick and pencils and Radio Nigeria, Punch or Tribune and others reported this when this factory started in Akure. For lack of constant electricity the factory moved to Ogbese a suburb of Akure. The factory was supported by NDE (National Directorate of Employment). But like all government supports, it was brief. When the clamour for local production became strident, the one sponsored by Akwa Ibom government which is often described as the first started. But no. For the record, a toothpick and pencil making factory started at Akure before others. Give it to the folks that made it possible at Akure. Out of ignorance, NAFDAC and Office of the National Security Adviser denied the promoters the opportunity of bringing in UF resin powder which is the glue for binding paper pencil, till date, these imported items are there unreleased at Apapa Port. Notwithstanding, the chaps devised local alternatives. Till date, one should keep on asking whether these government bodies really understand how Singapore and the Asian Tigers moved from Third World to First World. People sitting in offices, earning fat salaries, destroying hopes and dreams of their betters who never got to sit in government offices. Money was lost by the promoters but the joy was in knowing that we can do it here in Nigeria. Kudos to a certain Adebiyi in NDE who championed it all. What you and other young Nigerians should ask the Federal government is why they keep on importing toothpick knowing Nigeria is a dumping ground. Why? Why stagnate the production in ogbese and encourage importation from China. If you know how to move this to front page or other zones for public discourse please do. |
[quote author=Karin001 post=53684698]Know is a strong word. It wouldnt be appropriate usage in this context. I can however say with due respect to modesty, that I have had quite an experience in F.C.M.G and may equally add that my experience is quite varied and diverse. I have now found some very salient secrets that will surprise you. Up till today I can tell you that the majority of Nigerians do not yet know the secret of making money. We laugh at the tomato sellers in Mile 12 market, we scorn the women selling plantain at Idi-Oro, we laugh at the women who sell crayfish at Onyingbo, we scof at the women selling palm and vegetable oil in Badagary and we deride the women who sell Nylon(cellophane in Idumota and Oshodi. If only we could have a peep into their world, we would marvel at their accomplishments. But that is a story for another day. I may tell you right away that you must never underestimate the masses. They hold the key to your massive and consistently growing wealth machine. There are at least twenty Million people present in Lagos in a given day. Over 95% of that figure belong to bottom rung of the Socio-economic triangle. They spend money as if it is going out of fashion.Though spent in small individual amounts the aggregate is in Billions of Dollars (yes I mean dollars, only in its Naira equivalent) on daily basis. And your Bariga axis accounts for a very significant proportion of that spending. More than 1 million of those people buy Biro pens daily, buy razor blades daily, toilet tissue daily, toilet soaps daily, detergents daily and what have you. Let’s not even begin to talk about the number of people buying caprisonne, gala, Beefie, coconut chips, plantain chips, pure water, bread, biscuits and so on. Do you get my drift? Emzor pharmaceuticals I believe sells more Paracetamol by the hour more than all the Pizzas sold by all the Dominoes outlets in Nigeria put together. Her margins may be very small but very consistent and high volume. I no longer reside in Lagos for now but I could still reach out to help. At your request, I could send you the contacts of a few people who can lead you into products that can give you a t least 10% interest of that money every week. The caveat here is that the 10% profit per week will only be attainable after an initial gestation period which may span about two months. Finally, I may not be able to mentor you physically but can help via whatsapp or email. That’s what I can offer at the moment. I respect your opinion Karin. Please help me conquer Abuja. |

Dear Mr. Peter Babalola (PeterBabs). My name is Babatunde Adebiyi and I must admit that I am impressed reading your contributions in Nairaland. Of immediate interest to me was researching about BSF larvae and you mentioned that it can be obtained on your friend'1s farm at Akowa, Ikorodu Lagos. This is my reason for contacting you. I am a civil servant in Abuja that runs a poultry. I also run a farm. All my research points to using BSF larvae as feed for the chickens but it has been difficult to get them. I humbly request that you help me get some from your friend. The quantity may be about 100 grams in weight or more. I understand that your friend may want a bit of money for this. This I am ready to offer. And also I shall willingly be responsible for the cost of logistics of sending it across. My phone number is 08036673825. I wish you a great year 2018. I pray that the year shall be a year of success and accomplishments to you and your loved ones. I wish you peace, good health and prosperity. Thank you. |
