Cadiz CF has paid tribute to late Nigerian star Mohbad on social media.

Mohbad, a well-known Nigerian rapper and performer, passed away two weeks ago and the outpouring of tributes has continued.

The cause of Mohbad's death is still unknown but tributes have continued to pour in with several Nigerians protesting the perceived injustice surrounding his demise, while others offered prayers.

Cadiz pay tribute to Mohbad

LaLiga side Cadiz has become the latest to tribute to the late musician.

In a post on their official X page, Cadiz announced that a Mohbad jersey will be displayed on their substitute bench during their game against Rayo Vallecano to give the team strength.

The win was Amusan’s third consecutive triumph at the Diamond League. She made history in 2021, becoming the first African to win the Women’s 100m trophy with a time of 12.42s before defending her title in 2022, running 12.29s.

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has insisted that star striker Victor Osimhen can win the Ballon d'Or.

Osimhen has had an excellent 2023 for Napoli, leading the club to a first Scudetto in over 30 years, and winning the Serie A Golden Boot in the process.

Osimhen was also in fine form for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, finishing as the top scorer in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign, with 10 goals.

Peseiro, in a recent interview, (via II Napoli Online) proclaimed that Osimhen has all it takes to win the prestigious award.

The team that recently extended the contract of Head Coach Jose Peseiro are now 40th in the world.

The rankings mean that the Super Eagles are now sixth among countries under the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).

The Super Eagles' drop in ranking comes after they dismantled the Parrots of Sao Tome and Principe 6-0 in their last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champions were previously ranked 39th globally but now dropped.

The latest rankings mean that the Super Eagles of Nigeria are now behind the Atlas Lions of Morocco, the Teranga Lions of Senegal, and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

They are also behind the Desert Foxes of Algeria and the Pharaohs of Egypt.

FIFA World Rankings
Reigning World Champions Argentina are top of the rankings, while France, Brazil, England, and Belgium wrap up the top five.


Croatia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, and Spain complete the top 10.

The Super Eagles will now take on the Falcons of Saudi Arabia in their next outing in October ahead of the 2024 AFCON.

Nigeria's football governing body, the NFF, is out to support superstar Victor Osimhen in the fight to emerge as FIFA The Best Award winner.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, will leave no stone unturned to see Victor Osimhen emerge as the 2023 FIFA The Best winner.

NFF has taken to social media to canvas for votes for the Nigeria Super Eagles star and SSC Napoli hero.

Osimhen was nominated alongside 11 others for the FIFA The Best Award after an impressive 2022/2023 season for club and country.

The 24-year-old was listed amongst the 12 players expected to battle for the FIFA Award, which is in its eighth edition.

Osimhen’s nomination came after an excellent campaign, where he led his Italian team, Napoli, to the Serie A title.

For the first time in 33 years, the club from Naples was crowned Italian champions, with Nigeria’s super striker, Osimhen, leading the lines.

He netted 26 goals in the Serie A to finish as the league’s top scorer, which earned him the best striker award.

That award saw the Nigerian forward become the first African in the 125-year history of Serie A to be named the best forward in Italy.

It was these amongst his performances for Nigeria Super Eagles that earned him spots in the European Ballon d’Or and FIFA The Best nomination lists.

NFF rallies Nigerians
With a star-studded competition set to battle Osimhen for the Best Player Award, Nigeria’s Football Federation has taken to its social media pages to call on Nigerians.

The NFF posted on their Facebook page a clarion call to Nigerians to vote one of their own while sharing a link.

“Vote for your own, Victor Osimhen,” the NFF post read. “Here is a link to do so,” the governing body added

Meanwhile, Osimhen, who also fired Napoli to a historic quarterfinal place in the Champions League last season, is back in the competition.

The Super Eagle will lead the Italian champions when they take to the pitch against Braga on Wednesday night.

Nigerians got angry with FIFA on social media after leaving out the Super Falcons goalkeeper from the FIFA Women's Goalkeeper Nominees.

Chiamaka Nnadozie was one of the outstanding goalkeepers at the just concluded Women’s World Cup.

She helped the Super Falcons during the group stage as they secured qualification to the Round of 16.

The Paris FC goalkeeper kept three clean sheets during the tournament and also saved a penalty against Canada in their opening game.

Despite her performance at the World Cup, her name was not included in the Women's Goalkeeper Nominees leaving Nigerians furious with the list.

Osimhen scored an excellent hat-trick, with one goal in the first half and two more in the second.

The goals took his tally to 10 goals in six matches, making him the top scorer of the AFCONQ2023.

On Yekini
With his display against Sao Tome, Osimhen took his overall tally for the Super Eagles to 20 goals in 27 appearances.

He now sits fourth on the list of Nigeria’s highest-ever scorers, with just three goals separating him and Segun Odegbami in second.

While Osimhen is closing in on the top, he remains a distance behind the top scorer ever, Yekini, who scored 37 goals in 58 matches for Nigeria.

However, before the outing against the True Parrots, Osimhen admitted to Pulse Sports that while he has the ability to try to emulate Yekini, he does not think he can challenge the late legend and is not thinking too much about the record.


“I don’t think I can challenge the great, the legend Rashidi Yekini because he’s done so well for the country, for the Super Eagles, and to be able to try to follow in his footsteps is a huge one for me,” Osimhen told Pulse Sports.

“But I think I have the ability to try to meet up with his numbers and to try to help the team as much as I can. I think I'm ready to go. I’m ready.”

“I’ve got a lot of players that can also help and support me,” he added. “So, for me, I’m ready to give my all for the team. If I surpass the goal record, I pass it; if I equal it, I equal it, but I really don’t think about that. I just want to get as many goals as I can score for the team, which is the most important thing.”

Waldrum’s position as Super Falcons coach has been unclear since he called out the NFF just before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The American tactician criticised the NFF for failing to prepare the Super Falcons adequately for the Women’s World Cup and also called the organisation out for failing to pay his and the players’ wages.

Waldrum took the team to the 2023 Women’s World Cup, leading the team to an impressive round of 16 finish, with the Super Falcons losing to eventual finalist England only on penalties.

Nonetheless, despite his impressive achievement, his future remained uncertain after the tournament.

Reports then emerged earlier this week that the American tactician had been sacked as Super Falcons coach.

However, the NFF has now come out to deny the report, saying the body has not reached a decision on the future of the head coach of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers women's soccer team.

According to popular NPFL journalist Adepoju Tobi, the NFF is still deliberating on the future of Waldrum.

Waldrum’s current contract as Super Falcons coach expires next month, but with the Olympic qualifiers coming up soon, the NFF could consider handling the American a contract extension.

The body has already extended the contract of Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro until after the AFCON and could follow the same route with Waldrum.

Chelsea have reportedly jumped ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen next summer.

Osimhen was the most sought-after striker in the world over the summer, with a host of clubs queuing up to acquire his services.

The Super Eagles striker led Napoli to their first Serie A title in over 30 years, scoring 26 league goals in the process.

There were enquiries and bids from some of the world’s richest clubs but Napoli held firm and kept their star man for another year, at least.

Chelsea favourites to land Osimhen

According to Football Transfers, the interest in Osimhen has not dissipated, with several clubs expected to make a push for him next summer.

The report further states that Premier League big-spenders, Chelsea, have positioned themselves to make a run for Osimhen next summer and will put considerable resources behind the move.

The report continues by stating there has been contact between the Blues and Osimhen’s representatives on terms of an agreement and they have jumped ahead of Arsenal in the battle for his signature.

It remains to be seen just how much substance there is to these reports but it would be no surprise to see Chelsea move for Osimhen considering their struggles in attack.

NWFL 2023-2024 season will kick off on November

The Chairman of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) , Nkechi Obi, has declared that the league will empoer over 100,000 girls with Education and football.

Obi disclosed the plans during the NWFL Media Briefing in Abuja and revealed that the NWFL 2023–2024 season will kick off on November.

According to her, "So when everything is set, we are leveraging men who identify with women's or the women's projects above under the equal. So those are just two stakeholder platforms.

"In addition to also talking to people outside of sports development agencies are already speaking towards women's football, the publicity around women's football right now globally as really such people to come talk to us and I'm talking about US development agencies who see women's football as the plan of achieving goals.


They are not looking for profits. All they need is to ascertain development goals, they can say they reach 100,000 girls through women's football and they can tick the box. So we give them an extra platform.

"Maybe they tried through education or through sports they come in, have achieved the goals to us and that's funny enough that ones that are actually talking about more since this so yeah that's good idea how the same thing we do that is what we do here.

"We hope to encourage our clubs, we will encourage every club to get a media officer because that's how you can channel all these other to get your girls to the future that we. Have inside that."

Hottenham Football Club signed Abdulhamid Sabo for a meagre two thousand Naira only.

A Football Club based in the northern part of Nigeria, Hottenham Football Club, has signed Abdulhamid Sabo for just two thousand Naira.

The club plays in the Babura Local Government Football Association League, Jigawa State.

Confirming the deal, Aliyu Eloquent posted on his Facebook page, "Officially, ABDULHAMID SABO (ABUT) join AREWA UNITED from HOTTENHAM. With a fees of (N2000). The deal is done."

Meanwhile, Nigerians have reacted to the deal, calling it a 'great deal.' While some saw the deal as a welcome development, others queried the transfer fee.

A Facebook User, Adejoh Ernest said that, "What a great deal. Congratulations"

Another user Jafar Zumar added that, "wetin be this useless deal"

One Kabiru Saleh, who was shocked at the ridiculously low transfer fee, said, "Only 2k?"


However, a quick look through Aliyu Eloquent's Facebook posts reveals that several other players have been transferred, with less than N6,000 being paid as transfer fees.

The transfer fees paid range from N2,000 to a maximum of N5,000. This is a reflection of the poor state of grassroots football in Nigeria, and the administrators will have to do something real quick.

Drake Curse strikes again, Rapper loses 400 million naira as Adesanya loses Middleweight title to Strickland.

The middleweight UFC championship was up for grabs inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, as New Zealand Mixed Martial Artist of Nigerian descent Israel Adesanya took on American Sean Strickland.

Dricus du Plessis was supposed to battle "The Last Stylebender" but the South African injuries took longer to heal than anticipated, so Strickland stepped in to fight for the title.

After five rounds, all judges gave the contest a 49-46 score in favor of Strickland.

Drake is known for making significant bets before fights and did so on Adesanya ahead of the main event of UFC 293.

The 36-year-old Canadian rapper flaunted a massive $500,000 wager made on Adesanya to defeat Sean Strickland in the main event.

Drake would receive $920,000 if Adesanya were defeated but now he is trending on social media.

After Adesanya lost, fans pointed out that Drake had lost a total of 400 million naira from his latest bet.

Only Sean Strickland remained in the top six who Adesanya had not faced after effectively wiping out the division.

France Football has released the full 30-woman nominee list for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or award, and Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has made the cut.

Texts, photos, and videos of alleged abuse by Manchester United winger Antony have been shared with Brazilian media showing deep cuts, bruises, threats, and witnesses

Manchester United’s woes continue off-field after their loss to Arsenal as explicit details and evidence of alleged abuse by Brazilian winger Antony Matheus dos Santos aka Antony on his then-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin while she was pregnant.

Another Manchester United winger accused of domestic violence
Gabriela Cavallin filed a second report against Antony with the Manchester Police and accused the 23-year-old forward of violently attacking her and threatening her life while she was pregnant with a child which she eventually lost after 16 weeks.

In an interview with Brazilian outlet UOL, she detailed abuse suffered at Antony’s hands including an incident where a glass thrown by the footballer caused a cut so deep that her bone was exposed.

The DJ and influencer said she had suffered abuse from Antony starting in July 2022, a month before he signed for Manchester United from Ajax, and noted that the couple's problems were down to the Premier League star’s jealousy.

Speaking in the interview, Cavallin recalled the first time that Antony allegedly attacked her in a car and threatened to throw her out of a moving vehicle while she was pregnant, saying, "He said that if I didn't stay with him, I wouldn't stay with anyone. I told him that I was pregnant, that he was scaring me, making my heart race. I was shaking with fear."

That incident was allegedly caused by a video of Cavallin in a nightclub and reportedly sparked a series of events that caused the influencer to fear for her life.

Brazilian publication reveals evidence of alleged abuse by Antony
Screenshots of texts and audio recordings obtained by UOL also show alleged correspondence between Antony and Cavallin, where the Manchester United star accused his then-girlfriend of ridiculing him and trying to destroy his life, while other messages were of the Brazil international apologising for unbecoming behaviour.


Another text screenshot allegedly shows Antony upset at Cavallin for liking and commenting on pictures of the 23-year-old’s international teammate Neymar even though the pictures were from years before.

Despite the turbulence, the two resumed their relationship after Antony returned from representing Brazil at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but things got worse from then on.

Cavallin outlined further abuse by the Brazilian winger that caused serious bodily injury, including a confrontation where she alleges that Antony punched her in the chest so hard that it shifted her breast implants.

She testified saying, “I don't remember exactly who the fight was, but it was someone I had stayed with years ago. He punched me in the chest and my silicone turned. And then I came to Brazil to operate.

“I had to change the prosthesis. He said 'I didn't want to hurt you, it was unintentional, it wasn't a punch, I just pushed you, I just held you on the wall.’”

Antony’s ex-Girlfriend relives final incident of alleged abuse
In another reported altercation, Cavallin recollected being afraid for her life and deciding to quit the relationship after the last incident on May 8th, 2023 that left her with a deep cut on her hand.

She was quoted by UOL as saying, "I knew I had to leave, but I couldn't. I liked him a lot. I had a lot of hope. I was very attached to the beginning of our relationship, to the things he was to me in the beginning. On that last day it was very serious.

“I was really scared that I wouldn't be able to get out of the house. Antony locked the door of the house and wouldn't let me leave, and I had my finger open, all hurt. He broke my things, took my passport."

According to Cavallin’s testimony, Antony allegedly tried to hit her on the head with a glass bowl but she blocked the attack with her hand, causing cuts deep enough to expose the bones in her fingers.

The Manchester United winger reportedly had to be restrained by his mother and step-father in order for Cavallin to escape without further harm.

“His mother and his stepfather even arrested him inside the football court, he had a football court inside the living room, surrounded by a railing, like this, as if it were a still.

“He upset, trying to get out of the court anyway, playing soccer ball at me, playing cell phone at me. He said he was going to kill me, that he was going to kill himself,” recalled Cavallin.

Antony maintains innocence amid assault allegations
So far, Antony remains defiant in his stance about being falsely accused by Cavallin and in addition to a statement on his Instagram account where he stated his belief that his “innocence will be proven,” also had another statement put out on his behalf to UOL.

The statement by Antony’s representatives to the Brazilian news outlet stated, "What can be observed is that it appears in the media always in the moments when she knows it can harm Antony.

“As on the day of the call for the Brazilian team and now at the time of the presentation. But the facts exposed are the same as those being dealt with in the investigative process."

Antony is currently being investigated for the alleged offences, and the new publication will have Manchester United worried after they recently had to ship English forward Mason Greenwood to Getafe to avoid media scrutiny after his own case of alleged domestic abuse.

Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis will reportedly ask for an astronomical fee to part ways with star striker Victor Osimhen if Saudi Arabian clubs return for the Super Eagles striker’s signature.

Napoli reject Al Hilal’s advances for Osimhen

Osimhen was the subject of a massive bid from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal this summer, with the club reportedly ready to offer Napoli up to €200 million for the Nigerian forward.

Napoli rejected all formal bids for Osimhen however, with de Laurentiis unwilling to sell the Nigerian forward despite the huge bids from Al Hilal.

In a report from L’Equipe, the Napoli president allegedly told Al Hilal in an email, “Your bid can only buy one of Osimhen’s foot [sic]” in defiance of the money the Saudi club were willing to pay for the 2022/23 Serie A top scorer.

De Laurentiis is also reportedly set to shun future bids for Osimhen, as he stated in the supposed email that he would only think of considering a bid for Osimhen above €500 million.

The Partenopei president reportedly said, For next year, I expect you’ll be able to table €500m and maybe we’ll entertain your offer, but I say again, ‘maybe'.”

Osimhen is one of Napoli’s most coveted players after finishing the 2022/23 Serie A season with 26 goals to help the Partenopei claim their first Scudetto in 33 years and the club has made it clear on several occasions that they would do all it takes to keep the Nigerian striker with them.

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has found a new home in Getafe but faces more problems with calls for the Madrid-based side to send him back.

Mason Greenwood’s hope of relaunching his career has faced another setback following calls for his new club to send him back.

Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood found a place to call home after a loan move to LALIGA side Getafe.

Greenwood joined the Spanish side on deadline day after United and Getafe confirmed the transfer on social media as reported by Pulse Sports.

Case against Greenwood
The forward was charged with attempted rape, assault, and controlling/coercive behaviour after clips and pictures were posted online by his girlfriend.

In February this year, however, the charges were dropped after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) claimed they had a duty to stop the case following the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light.

Despite the CPS dropping the case, that was not the end of the issue for the 21-year-old who remained suspended at hos Premier League club.

The Reds opened an internal investigation on the case and released their findings six months later through a statement that they would be parting ways amicably with the forward.

Domestic abuse foundation messages Getafe
Greenwood was told by United to rebuild his career outside the club and after weeks of rumours, the youngster finally found a new home at Getafe.

The Madrid side and their fans celebrated the arrival of the talented forward but their dream of watching him play for their club has received a major setback following calls to send him back.

According to a report by Mirror, the Madrid-based domestic abuse foundation wants to see Greenwood sent back to Old Trafford.

“The club is setting a terrible example,” Ana Bella Estévez, of the Ana Bella Foundation, was quoted to have said.

“Getafe executives should never have hired Mason Greenwood and should immediately overturn their decision.”

“If you’re a public-facing organisation like Getafe there is no excuse to take a neutral stance on violence against women - you must take moral responsibility,” she added.
